Physical Description
He's extremely tall, in the range of six or so feet. He's extremely lean, but the mere fact that he can lift a katana let alone use it with way more skill than his appearance would indicate shows he has more muscles than are easily apparent. He has a fairly pale skin tone and Asian style eyes. The colored parts are violet. He has narrow eyebrows. His fingernails are usually painted, but aren't really all that long. Healthy, but not beyond a normal length. He uses a dark violet color that matches his hair.
He has extremely long violet hair that moves in a way only bishounen hair can. He prefers to keep it up in a tall set ponytail, and even then it comes down to his upper thighs. He's got long bangs and he lets his hair hang down in front of his ears. The parts that hang down in front fall to about his stomach. He tends to use small ribbons near the edge of those parts, creating a kind of "tassel" effect.
His most famous outfit is actually his stage outfit, and even then only his most well known one. The main piece is a tight jumpsuit like number that has varying shades of blue and fairly impossible to describe (see pictures). It continues down to a pair of boots that are actually part of the jumpsuit. The boots are shiny and blue, with lighter blue soles. They look vaguely like body hugging rain boots, except manage to be far more stylish.
Over the bodysuit has a white vest piece with huge sleeves. The sleeves and inner vest parts are bordered in dark violet. Past the dark violet part of the sleeves is a strip of light blue, fairly jagged looking. The purple part of his inner vest is shaped somewhat oddly, and loosely resembles a symbol one might find on sheet music. The vest has a tall collar, and is the same violet as the vest border, with a thin white border at the top. There is an almost tribal-like design on the back of the vest, the same dark violet as the other violet areas of his vest. It hangs down further in the back than in the front.
The vest is held on with a pale blue ribbon attached past the inner vest border. Its tied in a small and somewhat cute bow that hangs at roughly the middle of his chest.
He has extremely loose white pants that appear to stay on thanks to a thick dark violet tie with tassels hanging from the end of them. The tassels cause the tie to hang down and fall to his knees. The wide mouthed pants fall just past his knees. On his left upper arm is an odd device that looks like a cross between an accordion and a computer chip. It appears to be just for show.
This stage outfit has him with a hair ribbon that sticks out diagonally in four directions and appears rather stiff. It has a notch at the end of each part and is black with a thin red-orange center. His headphones and microphone combo have round ear pieces. It is worn in a way that causes the strip connecting the two ear pieces to hang down and rest just above his neck. The innermost part and borders are purple, but they have a dark red-orange center beyond that. The microphone piece is nothing fancy and is adjustable, although he rarely needs to do so.
When he's not wearing this stage outfit, he prefers to coordinate his headphones and hair-tie with the outfit, often opting for straight black or white.
Out of his stage outfit, he tends to wear clothes that are easier to move in, although his shirts will often be rather tight looking. He dresses in a manner that many would consider too stylish for a "straight" guy. No matter what outfit he wears, however, he has his katana at his side. This has actually been known to cause issues. He gets rather rabid and has been known to refuse to perform in a place that won't let him carry it, often abusing his celebrity status so he can keep it. The hilt and sheath are fairly fancy and coordinate well with his usual stage outfit.
It should be noted he is not above cross-dressing, particularly for shows. One of his more famous outfits was worn for a duet with Miku Hatsune and was styled after her most famous stage outfit. (Picture in in pictures section). He'll wear stage makeup but is also not above wearing more for the times that he cross-dresses.
Weapons
His most obvious weapon is his katana. However, many people make the mistake of thinking its a prop. At least until he goes into one of his rages and starts waving it around like some kind of psychopath. The hilt is dark silver and molded to make artificial grips. The guard is fairly plain, simply a rectangular piece of dark silver metal with a thin teal strip at the side. The blade is of amazing quality, of the type spoken of in legends and "folded" (term for the making of Japanese blades) many, many times. Might even impress the legendary Musashi if Kamui dressed in a less frilly manner. When in his typical stage outfit its tied on with the ribbon around his waist, but he's fairly creative about ways to attach it. The sheath is black with a teal circle bordered by white near the top and a white border. The side of the sheath has a thick teal strip that comes down from the circle and forms a base to the entire sheath at the bottom.
He can also use his fan as a weapon, which he tends to keep safely tucked in a pocket or in his belt when not performing with it (he uses it in many dances). Its a Japanese dancing fan, meaning the "wood" is actually metal and the "paper" is actually a high quality cloth (in this case, silk). The pattern is the same on the front and back, one side having a large chunk of dark violet like on his sleeves, right down to the jagged light blue border. The symbol on the back of his vest is to the side of the purple area, and is the same dark violet as the purple on his stage outfit. He uses it as a weapon mainly to distract the opponent, and will also use it to "catch" a blade by snapping it shut after the weapon goes through. He's able to disarm opponents in this manner.
Abilities/Powers
Kamui doesn't really have anything in the way of "powers". Everything he does falls under skills rather nicely. One could say his ability to materialize his headphones is a power, but its more a result of him being a living program than anything worth real note.
Unless you consider attracting mobs of rabid fangirls a "power". He's quite capable of doing that, and very much not on purpose. He handles the mobs well, though.
Skills
Well, first and foremost, he's a Vocaloid and that means he can sing. He's got a fairly good range, his natural voice range being a tenor. He is, however, a program and those that don't know how to use the Vocaloids well can make him sound pretty awful. However, he's considered many to be better at sounding natural than most. It should be noted he sings Japanese music and while he probably could sing in another language, he's not designed for such and it won't sound as good (although exceptions do exist). His most famous songs are "Dancing Samurai", and his versions of "Super Turkish March" and "Cantarella".
He does have other skills. The one he's most proud of is dancing, and he's a bit miffed he doesn't get to use it as often as he would like. We're talking traditional flowing dances more than "boy band" things, although he could do just about any dance you asked him to. In fact, he could easily be described as having an over inflated ego about this skill. He's known for being rabid about it, and its one of the reasons "Dancing Samurai" is one of his more well known songs.
The skill many people aren't aware of, however, is his ability to fight. He's quite the master with his katana, but it should be noted a lot of his skill comes from his ability to dance. He fully supports the view that battle is a dance, and he would be quite good at annoying his opponents by almost literally dancing circles around them. He's not generally a combative guy though, and many people think the sword is for show.
Also, he can speak English but its obviously a second language. He's known to slaughter sentences or inadvertently make puns. Any attempts at singing in English he's made are due to learning the song based on phonetics than actually knowing the words, a common practice for Japanese singers. The main reason he tries so hard with English is to impress Luka... which doesn't really seem to work, but he's stubborn that way.
Not so much a skill as a quirk, but his voice when speaking sounds a bit better than many of the Vocaloids, but it is still rather obviously mechanical. Unlike his singing, which can sound very natural if its being composed by someone who knows what they are doing with the program. Every once in a while he'll come across a word that'll make him sound more electronic than usual, but its nothing major and doesn't prevent being understood.
Personality
Kamui is pretty spastic and known for getting rather rabid about his opinions. He's also stubborn as heck and doesn't seem to understand the meaning of "you can't" or "no", which causes a fair amount of friction between him and the other Vocaloids, especially the more stubborn ones like Luka. Outsiders might find the relationship between those two cute if Luka wasn't constantly beating up the guy. Actually, many still find it cute because he tries so hard to get on her good side.
He's got a major thing about pride and his version of honor and is rather well known for demanding a competition of some sort to prove who is the better "man". Actually, because he words it like that he's known for getting laughed at. He's one of the girliest looking "pretty boys" you'll ever meet, after all. He's known for raging but he does so in such an over the top way people tend to laugh at him rather than take him seriously. Although when he starts waving his katana around like a madman its kind of scary...
Kamui also believes in the "beautiful warrior" mindset and is often accused of being a flaming homosexual (on a side note, he's actually bisexual) because of it. He's known for saying "You're just jealous" or the like to people who go rabid at him about that. Another quirk of his is believing he was born in the wrong time period, feeling he would have been much better off in the time of the Samurai. In fact, that's part of the reason he learned how to use the katana.
Also, he likes eggplants. REALLY REALLY likes Eggplants. To an almost(?) unhealthy level. Not fond of leeks, a source of friction between him and Miku.
History
Nothing all that fancy or amazing. He was created as part of the Vocaloid2 line along with more well known synthesizers as Miku Hatsune and the Rin/Len duo. He was brought to the island in a similar fashion to Miku in that some fan installed his program on a computer and the island allowed a far more "real" manifestation than our Earth did. It wasn't anything "oooh fancy" though, because as far as he and the other Vocaloids are concerned they have always been real.
Other
He "likes" fellow Vocaloid Luka Megurine, but his kind of lazy seeming nature means its not obviously reciprocated. See the song "Go Google It" for an example of their relationship. This has been approved by Luka's player (Firebreath Fishslap). Its also entirely possible he likes other Vocaloids, and is often paired with Kaito, but he seems to be most stubborn about pursuing Luka. Actually, this fickle nature is probably part of the reason she doesn't want to get involved with him.
A lot of his personality and such were based around songs he is famous for or things the singer he was based on (Gackt) has been known to say. Such as his obsession with dancing (Dancing Samurai) or in the latter's case, lamenting that he was born in the wrong time period.
The eggplant thing is a reference to his "official item". Miku's is leeks, and his dislike of the vegetable was taken from some text in a "Dancing Samurai" music video.
I learned I've been failing on his name. His first name is Gakupo, the surname first way of arranging Japanese names threw me I think. Anyhow, from now on if you are addressing him by his first name, use Gakupo.
