Full Name: Naoto Shirogane
Nicknames: Detective Prince
Age: 16
Height: 152 cm
Weight: ?
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Yasoinaba, Japan
Franchise: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Physical Description: Naoto has dark blue hair and eyes, and has a fairly slim physique. Despite supposedly having the largest breasts among the whole Investigation Team, she manages to disguise herself as a man fairly well, coupled with her already fairly androgynous appearance. She is almost always wears an officer’s cap, which when coupled with her uniform, makes her look like a student from late 19th century Japan. Unlike the other female members of the team, Naoto wears the male uniform for Yasogami High, which consists of a buttoned up black jacket over a long-sleeved white shirt, and black pants. In an effort to make herself look taller, she wears platform shoes.
Weapons: Revolver
Abilities/Powers: Naoto has the ability to summon a Persona, a sort of manifestation of her soul. Incidentally, her Persona is the only one other than the ones that Souji and Minato can summon that’s a different gender than her. Her starting Persona is Sukuna-Hikona, while her ultimate Persona is Yamato Takeru.
Skills: Disguising herself as a guy’s got to count for something, doesn’t it? Oh, and detective skills.
Personality: Naoto is a very serious individual, who doesn’t typically tell jokes or the such. She takes her job and pretty much everything fairly seriously, and finds the efforts of others to one-up her amusing. She also doesn’t tend to bother to correct others when they mistake her for a male, preferring it that way, at least until someone tries to start a romantic relationship with her. She’s also rather self-conscious about her body, and would rather that people not go into detail about those kind of things. Interestingly enough, she uses the male pronoun of “boku” to describe herself, which isn’t noticeable in English, but is in Japanese. This is another reason she’s often mistaken for a boy.
History: Naoto is a well known detective who was called in to help with the investigations of the TV World murders, or the “Strange Incidents in Inaba” as the media had been calling them. Because he wanted no assistance from the other departments in the Inaba Police Department, he was constantly on edge with them.
Back when Kanji Tatsumi was kidnapped, Naoto was able to figure out that Kanji was to be the next to be kidnapped before the investigation team. Unfortunately, Naoto’s influence with Kanji resulted in Kanji getting a crush on Naoto, and his shadow gaining even more power so that when Kanji was kidnapped, his shadow had even more emotional fuel to work off of.
Eventually, Naoto enrolls in Yasogami High, where he becomes admired by almost the entire female student populace. While enrolled at the school, he continues to work on the case. After the arrest of Mitsuo Kubo, Naoto is still not convinced the killer has been caught, and decides to use himself as bait to lure out the true killer. It worked, and Naoto is the next to be kidnapped.
Upon finding him deep within the TV World, and meeting Naoto’s Shadow, it is revealed that “he” is really a SHE, and wishes to be a man, which is why she wears loose fitting clothing that hides her form. After defeating her shadow, and Naoto accepting the shadow, the Shadow became a Persona and Naoto joined the Investigation Team.
On the night that Nanako was kidnapped, Naoto was the first to figure out why Nanako was kidnapped, and helped to rescue her from Namatame. After it was discovered that the murderer was still on the loose, she was also the first to figure out that Adachi was rather suspicious as it was when it came to some of the things he said around the party.
After Adachi is defeated, and Souji leaves Yasoinaba, Naoto eventually went on to become a detective, just like most of her family.
Other: It’s implied that Naoto’s not actually her name, and she chose it to seem more masculine. It’s entirely possible that her actual name is Naoko, which is a more feminine variant.
