Full Name: Yuugi Mutou
Nicknames: Partner (only by Atem)
Age: 17
Height: 153 cm (about 5 feet)
Weight: 42 kg (about 92.5 lbs)
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Domino City, Japan
Franchise: Yu-Gi-Oh! (Japanese)
Physical Description
Yuugi's most noticable trait is his hair, which sets new standards for anime styling and is often parodied. What makes it even stranger is it is completely natural, i.e. he doesn't do anything special with it. It has a general spiked star shape to it, with the majority being black. The outer edges are purple with a hint of pink. Down at the neck the purple is a bit on the darker side. He as stiff spiky blond bangs. One side falls down the side of his face far more than the other. They are roughly the same length, which can be hard to tell with how they fall. The one that hangs down falls just past his neck.
Yuugi has rather soft eyes that do an exceptional job at portraying his emotions. They are somewhat large, and are not unkown for making him look younger than his height already does. They are dark purple, but are not unknown for appearing more magenta in the right light.
The teenager has an extreme preference for his Domino High school uniform, despite any unity or uniformity it might grant being completely lost with him being removed from his world. He does personalize it a bit, though. The basic uniform is a blue suit, the jacket being over a white shirt. Yuugi's variance is a belt-like choker and sleeve cuffs. He tends to prefer tennis shoes. He is not unknown for wearing a bracelet or two or for wearing two belts. The second belt is on at more of an angle, and he uses it to hold his Duel Monsters deck. It is modified slightly to allow a loop-like sheath for his weapon, an Ancient Egyptian blade known as a Sefet. Neither the cards nor the sword are guaranteed to be on him, however, as he commonly shares said items with Atem.
Hanging around his neck is easily the most noticable part of his wardrobe, and it actually competes with his hair for dominant traits. It is a fairly large pendant shaped like an inverted period, known as the Millenium Pendant. A loop is molded into the top so it can be worn as a pendant. Yuugi slips a fairly large silver chain through it and wears it around his neck like that. Despite no longer housing Atem's spirit, it still has signifant power to it and recognizes both Atem and Yuugi as its rightful owner. As such, Yuugi barely notices the weight of what is basically a large gold brick. The front has an Egyptian styled eye known in our world as the "Eye of Ra" on it, but beyond that it's pretty much just a solid gold brick.
On the occasions Yuugi does dress casually, he seems to have a fairly good sense of fashion. He does have a slight preference for tighter clothes. He has a slight punk feel to his accesories, favoring belt-like things, metallic jewelry, and chains. His favorite colors seem to be blue and black judging by his wardrobe. If one were to point out that his preferred styles have a slight fetish them to them, he'd be extremely embarassed.
Weapons
Yuugi has three weapons, two of which he is as like as not to have either or both of them at any time. The only weapon of his that would unianimously be considered a weapon is an Ancient Egyptian blade known as a sefet. Its fairly unremarkable, but it does look and indeed is extremely authentic. Really, if it weren't for the excellent condition you'd swear it came out of an Ancient Egyptian museum display. When he has it on him, he keeps it in a loop-like sheath attached to his sideways belt. The sheath is on his left side.
The other weapon he is known to carry is a deck of forty Duel Monsters cards. While in his home world these cards were merely playing cards that could be seen via holographic generators from KaibaCorp (barring the interference of some magic or power that caused them to cause more literal damage), the island has manifested the monster spirits sealed inside into real creatures. The spells and traps work as actual magic, as well. In his pocket he carries a hard plastic case with fifteen spare cards, his Side Deck. He always has the Side Deck even when Atem has the cards.
His other weapon is a modded COMP (which looks like a glorified Nintendo DS with an odd logo. Yuugi's is a golden yellow) from Keiichi Kimura, Naoya Kimura, and Midori Komaki's homeworld. Containing a program installed by the aforementioned Naoya Kimura, he is able to fight via demons with the COMP. He only has one demon, and he rarely summons it. The other, and far more used, function relates to the Harmonizer. It basically allows Yuugi to battle demons on equal footing providing the COMP is activated. He can also see a person's Death Clock with it thanks to not considering any of the island's other COMP users a "leader" of his group. The Death Clock basically shows how many days a person has to live if it is less than ten. It should be noted the Death is not inevitable, and the knowledge of a person's impending death can be used to prevent it.
Abilities/Powers
Yuugi has the ability to summon a Persona, which simply put is a manifestation of his psyche. He gained the power via an unwanted encounter in the mysterious TV World. His Persona resembles an Ancient Egyptian Guardian statue. It is dressed in priest like attire and holds a tall staff modeled after the Egyptian Ankh. Its name is Nefertum and seems to be drawn from an aspect of Ra, specifically a younger version of the god Atum. Nefertum's powers, or spells, are focused around support and healing. Indeed, the Persona only has one actual attack. It, and as a result Yuugi, is resistant to dark skills, but it receives extra damage from fire and slashes (such as a sword might cause). Nefertum's image is in the pictures section.
Yuugi is not aware of this, but he actually is capable of accessing some of the powers of the Millenium Pendant. The two he can access are sensing the inner darkness of a person and finding those that he shares a mutual closeness with. Atem is no aware of this either, and neither of them will learn of it until it comes up via RP.
Skills
Despite haiving only recently learned how, Yuugi is moderately skilled with a one handed sword. Actually, he's mainly skilled with a sefet and his ability would drop with any other kind of one handed sword. With a sefet he's a solid intermediate with his skills, others would place him at a high novice/low intermediate depending on the blade balance.
Yuugi's main skill, however, is in games. All types, and he loves to learn new ones. His shining skill is in the card game known as Duel Monsters, and with that he's actually better than even Atem. However, Yuugi's personality causes him to hold back or make the occasional mistake. His truest skill with the game can be seen when he is fighting to protect someone. Yuugi is also skilled at tagteaming Duel Monsters.
Yuugi's two other games of choice are Capsule Monsters and Dungeon Dice Monsters, spin offs of the Duel Monsters card game. However, he is not quite as skilled with either of those as he is with Duel Monsters nor is he as good as Atem with them.
Personality
Yuugi is somewhat reserved and rather polite. He tries to always speak formally and only very rarely omits honorifics. He uses the generic "-san" even towards people he dislikes. He seems to be quick to add the friendly "-kun/-chan" to a lot of people, as well. He tries to avoid stepping on others toes and is not unknown to get flustered from wanting to say something but not wanting to hurt the other person's feelings. However, he also knows that there are times when you have to be rude to get your point across. If it comes to that he'll do so and take the consequences.
The teenager is rather quick to apologize for a perceived wrongdoing, and he has trouble with things like awkward silences. He is very loyal and once he has decided you are a friend, it is hard to make him change his mind. He's actually somewhat naive and gullible, but not as much as one might think. Fact is, he's fairly good at picking up on subtle hints and piecing things together, but he allows his polite nature to override his common sense about such things.
He's also quite the fanboy for just about any kind of game you could find. Best way to get him into sparkle-eyed interest mode is to bring up a game he hasn't heard of. Not that befriending the teen is hard, but its even easier if it occurs over a game.
He also "likes" Atem, but gets extremely flustered if the relationship comes up. Its not anything that's truly different from his former relationship with Anzu from his homeworld. It's all rather adorable, really. He has worries about what Anzu will think about the relationship and for the most part still tries to be careful about it. However, its fairly obvious if you see Yuugi and Atem interact for a while that they have feelings for each other, although Yuugi would attempt a topic change if it got brought up. In fact, its probably the easiest way to get him into all out flustered mode.
History
Up until the past year or so, Yuugi had an extremely unimpressive life. The few friends he had made growing up had pretty much drifted away from the shy boy. While he was on friendly terms with just about everyone he knew, he didn't really have "friends". When he was about eight, he managed to find a gold box among the backroom stock of Sugoroku's (his grandfather's) game store, Kame Game Shop. He all but stole the puzzle containing box and began working on it. Sugoroku learned of it, but saw no harm on it despite the warnings of whoever solving it would receive the power of darkness. No one had come close to solving it, after all.
Years passed with Yuugi working on the puzzle, skirting the edge of obsession. The few friends he had had all but vanished from his life. Even the girl he liked, one Anzu Mazaki, seemed to become more interested in her dancing than him. The reason Yuugi worked so hard on the puzzle was that part of the warning on the front said that the one who solved it would get a wish granted. Yuugi wanted to wish for friends.
In his second year of high school, after eight years of working on the puzzle, a burst of character growth in which Yuugi stood up to the head of the Discipline Committee to protect two of his "friends" (bullies named Jounouchi and Honda, who up until that act absolutely did not reciprocate the feelings) made the puzzle "decide" he was worthy of it.
The consciousness sealed inside the Puzzle emerged upon its completion, and proceeded to "punish" Ushio via a "Penalty Game". Over time the consciousness would become known as "Yami no Yuugi" or "Dark Yuugi", and then after softening and gaining significant character growth thanks to his time with Yuugi, "mou hitori no Yuugi" or "the other Yuugi". Yuugi and The Other Yuugi eventually accepted each other's presence, and worked together to regain The Other Yuugi's lost memories.
Turns out he was a Pharaoh from Ancient Egypt whose memories had been wiped as part of a spell to seal the demon Zorc Necrophades. "Atem", as it turned out his name was, used the power of unity from the Puzzle and Yuugi's friends in the world of his memories to defeat Zorc once and for all. Atem and his friends were returned to the real world, and Atem was handed the six Millenium Items that were companions to his Puzzle. Atem and Yuugi, together still thanks to the Puzzle, were leaving the ruins that they had entered Atem's memory from when a portal opened up beneath them. It caused a cave in, and the teens were dropped through the portal to Dimension Island.
They would meet up with several people after this, but the biggest development for the two teens would be the Puzzle being thrown into the mysterious TV World at the hands of a man named Tohru Adachi. It took several days for Yuugi and his new friends K1, Souji, and Minato to rescue Atem, but the fight to defeat the incarnation of Atem's hidden desires, his shadow, would have an uneffected result... when they left the TV World, Atem would be his own entity, freed from the confines of the Puzzle. Not to mention that it had become somewhat obvious to his friends that he and Atem had feelings for each other.
Yuugi continues to fight alongside Atem and his friends on the Island, although the worry that he will never get home always lingers on the edge of his thoughts.
Other
This is a revamped profile created thanks to Yuugi and Atem splitting into two seperate entities. There have been changes made, but they have all come about as a result of the RP. The previous app for Atem and Yuugi will be deleted right after this is posted.
I blend the three Yu-Gi-Oh! canons for Yuugi's canon. The majority is Duel Monsters, the anime that was dubbed. His backstory prior to Duel Monsters comes from the original anime from Toei. A few powers and such are from the manga.
Card stats, powers, and etc come from the anime. As such, things are very likely to conflict at times with how the game is actually played.
