Full Name: Tadashi Nikaido
Nicknames: Kaido, Enforcer of Bel, KAIDO (COMP User Name)
Age: 19
Height: ? (Tall)
Weight: ? (Looks lean, but slightly heavy due to muscle)
Gender: Male
Alliance: Lawful Evil
Home: Palace of Bel, Demon Realm
Physical Description
For his nationality, Kaido's rather tall. He'd be a bit above average if you stuck him next to most American men as well, to give an indication of his stature. He has a deceptive amount of muscular development, especially given his standard attire. He's fairly well muscled, enough to kick his weight into a bit heavy, but the way it has developed gives him a rather lean look. His skin tone is on the paler ends of average thanks to having spent the majority of the last three and a half months in the sunless Demon Realm.
His rather narrow eyes are in truth capable of a full range of expressions. However, he seems to sport an dangerous expression of amusement most of the time. They all but pop open when he gets angry, although he has more than a few levels in regards to that emotion. His flat look comes across as a glare to most people. His glare is the type you'd feel from across the street. They are muddy brown in color.
Kaido's hair is the same color as his eyes. It is rather short and looks as if it isn't on speaking terms with a comb. He sleeks it back and has no bangs to speak of due to the style. It looks almost as if someone took a hacksaw to it for the somewhat stiff way it points in all directions, although most of the spikes have at least a partial downward angle. It rather resembles a hedgehog, in a way. Only the longest of the pieces reaches as far as the middle of his neck.
He isn't pinned down to any one style of wear, although there are themes. He never wears shorts, his preferred fabrics breath well, and he only wears outfits that are easy to move in. The outfit he is wearing when he arrives on the Island is the style he was most commonly seen sporting before Abel ascended the Throne of Bel.
The outfit is similar to what one might see a jogger wearing. It keeps with his preference for outfits that breath well. The majorit of the outfit is pitch black. He doesn' wear a shirt under the jacket, and it zips up from a point at about the middle of the chest. The zipper is black metal and hard to see except from up close. The collar of the shirt is tall, although the zipper stops just below the base of his collar bone. This causes the collar to be open quite a bit.
The shirt has a blood red stripe that starts from the side of the collar and extends in a straight line down to the cuffs of the long sleeves. The jacket has a pocket on the front like one might see on a hoodie. He wears softsoled black boots.
The entire outfit, including the boots, is of obvious quality. While by design it looks like a simple jogger's outfit it is clearly more. It doesn't look like anything easily affordable to anyone that can spot fabric quality. The colors were chosen as much for practicality as preference, his position in the court of Bel is not unknown for causing blood spatter of demonic origin.
Weapons
Kaido has a COMP (short for Communication Player), which in itself is saying something the devices' involvement in the Tokyo Lockdown caused the company that made them to go bankrupt. In addition, the devices were ordered destroyed by the Japanese Government and are considered more illegal than even guns. Even more impressive is Kaido's is one of only five in existance that still possess the reason they were ordered destroyed, and are what allow the DS-like devices to be considered weapons.
His COMP is modded with a program that the General of Bel, Cain, was the chief programmer of. The reason it is one of only five in existance that are a danger is the direct the King of Bel, Abel, has over the "server" that maintains those functions. As a result the COMPs that can use those functions are directly decided upon by Abel.
Kaido also has a pair of an item that would be considered weapons without demonic programming. They are a pair of bloodstained brass knuckles, he keeps one in each pocket. He takes good care of them, but the need to use them over the past three or so months had made it impossible to remove every trace of blood. He can dip his hands into his pockets and slip them on with ease.
Abilities/Powers
His COMP are the only reason he has any abilities that fall outside of skills. As the owner of a modded COMP, he is able to store demons in stasis as a sort of data and summon those demons at will. He can fuse demons to make more powerful ones, and can set up contract with demons via the Demon Auction. The latter is no longer neccessary and indeed the service has all but collapsed due to the influence of the King of Bel and the loss of potential customers.
Aside from that, the COMP also has an ability known as the Harmonizer. It regulates the biorythms of its user so that they may fight on equal footing with paranormal beings such as demons and angels. While it is less effective against those beings from a world other than the one it was programmed for, it still grants an advantage. Kaido's ability to cast spells and have innate "magic" is also an effect of the modded COMP.
Skills
Kaido has good leadership skills and a large charisma, at least among his fellow humans. Those skills are fairly useful among demons as well, although that group usually requires him to literally knock a few more heads together. He's rather intimidating, and he would have to make a significant effort to not be. His personality means he never would.
He is lethal on the battlefield, and battlefield covers a large variety of situations. He can streetfight as well as he can manage on a warpath. The downside is he isn't good at subtlety, and he's more of a hinderance than a help if he isn't allowed to be on the front lines.
Kaido was formerly a gang leader and has many skills that relate to that. A lot of them are less than savory and more than a bit illegal.
Kaido is fully bilingual, partially trilingual. He is able to speak Japanese as a native tongue, demonic with a human near fluency, and enough English to not get stranded in the middle of nowhere, America. The issue with the Infernal tongue is that it is simply impossible for humans to pronounce. The reason why is unclear, as demons without mouths can speak it and those that seem fully human do just fine. The theory is that the proper usage is as much a power as a language.
His other main skill was taught to him directly by Cain. Kaido is a master of torture, and second to Cain who is second to only a small handful of demons across the entire Demon Realm. There is a definite reason why demons prefer to not be taken alive by the armies of Bel. Kaido is able to push people to the absolute limit before pulling back. He can read when people are faking ill, faking well, and has an instinctive grasp of the more effective regions of focus for individuals. He is also a rather skilled medic in that regard, as he is experienced in healing wounds only to prolong the suffering.
Personality
Kaido comes across as dangerous at first impression. It would not be out of the question to slap the negative stereotypes associated with gang leaders on him. The mistake there would not be giving him the stereotype, but in not giving him the positive ones along with the negative. He has a strong code of honor, although it doesn't necessarily match with what would be considered the norm. An example would be that if he were to make a point of giving his word, he'd follow it to the grave.
He is all about taking responsibility. He doesn't care too much if you've gone on a killing spree and lopped of the head of puppies for a souveneir. He does care if you shift the blame for the actions away from yourself or deny it. He embraces the baser sides of humanity and gets pissed when people try and pretend it isn't there. He fully believes that at the end of the day, all any man wants is to be on the top of the heap. He'll accept if someone insist on denying those aspects of themselves, but if they run around causing harm and claiming its for the greater good, he is likely to fly off the handle - to the point that he has killed someone over it.
He gives full loyalty to his allies, be it members of a gang or one of the highest ranking officials under the King of Demons. He will put aside his own emotions to defend the group he represents. As a gang leader he would and did kill, as the Enforcer of Bel he'll do as his King says. In any case, however, he'll gripe about it.
In fact, Kaido gripes a lot. It's a sign things are in the long run okay. It's when Kaido stops griping, when his tone gets flat and his expression fixed, that the shit has hit the fan. It's a thankfully rare expression, and even the court of Bel has seen it less than three times. When Kaido hits that point, one can realize how serious he truly is. He has a phenomenal handle on his emotions, he just chooses not to use it much.
Kaido is rather egotistical and more than full of the power of the court of Bel. He thinks if one has the power to crush those that defy one beneath one's feet, one should do so. He dislikes holding back, but he has the tactical sense to know when he has to do so. He's even known for cutting back on his griping in the presence of his King. He isn't one to admit defeat, though. He'll claim he's choosing to back off instead.
History
As a kid, Tadashi "Kaido" Nikaido hung out with his older brother and a girl his brother's age named Mari Mochizuki. When he got into junior high, however, he had begun hanging out with what most would call the "wrong crowd". It was in truth the same crowd his brother was well known for hanging in, and it is not incorrect to say that he got involved in gangs thanks to his brother. His parents worked hard to keep Kaido in school, but in his second year of high school he dropped out. By this time he had become the second in command of a gang known as the Shibuya Daemons - second only to his older brother.
A few months before the events that would forever alter the fabric of the world as he knew it, his brother was the victim of a mysterious attack, the most recent in a series that was gaining infamy. The young man had been found dead with his body drained of all blood. Kaido was more than a bit pissed and began to search for the killer of his sibling as the new leader of the Daemons. Any that would have thought to fight him abandoned him at the rage he went into over his brothers death. He'd never had any faith in the police to begin with. He cut off contact with his brother's former girlfriend, the same Mari they had hung out with as kids. Part of it was because he had developed a crush on her even while his brother was alive and didn't want to deal with that at the time.
When the explosion in Aoyama Cemetary heralded a blackout across the entire Yamanote Circle, Kaido was in Shibuya. The next day as the government was claiming the Lockdown as a cause of poison gas, he was approached be three teenagers. Keiichi Kimura, Yuzu Tanikawa, and Atsuro Kihara. They had requested him because he was the leader of the Shibuya Daemons and requested help in searching for Keiichi's cousin, a man named Naoya. Kaido told them he'd do what he could.
It wasn't long after that he was able to get ahold of one of the modded COMPs that had become commonplace in the Lockdown, and more than handled the demon that came after it. He was approached by a man named Yasuyuki Honda about the COMPs, and the pair were seen more than a few times together throughout the Lockdown. After running into Keiichi and his group a few times, Kaido proposed a contest in which the losers would hand over their COMPs and everything related to them. When he lost, Kaido went into a bit of a rage and managed to summon a powerful demon known as Pazuzu. It was the last time he and Honda were seen together. He never did hand over the COMP.
It wasn't long after that he caught wind of a "kid with glasses" running around screaming about justice with a powerful demon known as Yama. The kid in question made the mistake of killing a few of the Daemons in his overzealous chase of justice. Kaido finally found the kid, whose name was Keisuke Takagi, and the demons summoned via similar methods faced off. Pazuzu outclassed Yama and after Keisuke refused to give up or even take full credit for his actions via Yama, he was burned alive by Pazuzu at Kaido's order. Keiichi and his friends found them just in time to see Keisuke's charred husk getting tossed to the side.
Atsuro, a long time friend of Keisuke. was shattered. He helped Keiichi and his friends fight against Kaido. Keiichi managed to kill Pazuzu and Kaido fled the scene. Keiichi's group would run into Kaido again, and the tense scene was ended with the revelation that Kaido had actually admired Keisuke. It was just that their goals had been in opposite directions and one of them had to die. He would have preferred it to be avoided as he admired Keisuke, his guts, and his willingness to stick to his ideals even when it cost him his life.
On the sixth evening of the Lockdown, before the sun had fully set, Naoya and Kaido crossed paths. Naoya seemed amused by Kaido's vigor and informed him that he would be meeting Keiichi later that night. Kaido agreed to come along, and when Keiichi conceded to Naoya's plans that he become the King of Bel, Kaido remained with the group.
The next morning, Keiichi and what was left of his group after Yuzu and Midori had left were approached by Mari. Kaido had run into her a few times in the Lockdown. She requested she be allowed to help Keiichi in his fight and despite Kaido's wish to the otherwise, was allowed. Naoya's plans to instate Keiichi as the next King involved defeating the other Bel demons. All but one of them had been defeated when the group were assaulted by a small army of angels at the foot of the Roppongi Building. The building housed the final Bel, the summoning server, and Babel, all things Keiichi would need to handle to become King.
The fight involved the angels referring to Naoya as Cain and Keiichi as Abel. The implications of those facts flew right over Kaido's head. Atsuro tried to get an explanation out of Naoya, but in his usual fashion the man decline to answer in any way that would prove to untangle the mess. Naoya informed the group that he had to speak to Keiichi alone and after some friction the group granted Naoay's request. They waited maybe five minutes before Mari went to check on them. What the three found when they returned was an extra person, an apparently long lost twin named "Keiji". At Naoya's insistance the group moved on, and the fight for the Throne of Bel was finally won.
During the fight, Naoya, Keiichi, and Keiji had begun to use different names. Naoya amd Keiji especially. The usage of Cain, Abel, and Seth confused the other members of the group. After the fight and an obvious loss of humanity on "Abel"'s part, some more friction continued. In particular between Cain and Abel.
Abel was able to negotiate an end to the Lockdown with the head of the Japanese Special Defense Force and one of the many angels that had been giving the government orders. Kaido helped the group leave the city, and during that time teased "Seth" with the title of Prince. It would later become an actual title. The day after that Abel brought the group, minus Mari, to the Demon Realm. Kaido wasn't happy about leaving Mari, but he was grateful she wouldn't be caught up in the mess of Abel's war against God.
There were some tense moments between Abel and Kaido as well, but things panned out well enough. It was a combination of him and Cain that helped things spiral out of control the first full moon that occurred after Abel took the throne. The demons responded to the phases of the moon, and the little humanity Abel clinged to was all but crushed during tha time. The next full moon would push Abel almost over the edge.
The "lord" of some territories Abel was trying to bring in line used the King and his court as pawns in a fight. During this time Cain was almost killed, and be Abel's actions no less. Kaido had, in the past two or so months, been getting a crash course on methods of torture from Cain. It was his intimidation factor and his knack for those methods that gave him title as Enforcer of Bel. It was those skills that allowed him to help Cain. The oldest of the humans in the group would have likely died without Kaido's "help".
Another full moon passed, and the new moon after that led to a startling suggestion by Abel. He wished to return to the Island that he had spent that space of "five minutes" in. The place where he had met Keiji. Cain agreed to set the COMPs to allow the transfer, and they departed for the Dimension Island of "three months" ago.
Other
Kaido tends to speak a bit impolitely, even to Abel. He uses the preferred first names of the group, and was never one to use honorifics anyhow. So the group are known as Abel, Cain, Seth, and Atsuro as far as he is concerned. He'll sometimes drop titles rather than names, but its more to change things up than anything else.
