I apped Crono because his player hasn't been on in a very long time. I PMed him and NN1 about a week ago and have received no response. In sticking with the rules I can get Crono.
Full Name: Crono Sandview
Nicknames: N/A
Age: Just over 16
Height: ? (Average)
Weight: ? (A bit heavy due to muscle)
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Truce ~1000 AD
Franchise: Chrono Trigger
Physical Description
Crono's body type isn't out of the ordinary, but its not the standard by any means. He has a fair bit of muscular definition dispersed evenly over his body. This isn't often noticed as Crono tends to wear pants, although his short sleeves allow his arms to show. He has Caucasian skin of average complexion. His eyes are masculine, but they don't stand out much and are European when compared to the eyes of our world. His eyebrows are more noticable, but it still remains in the realm of ordinary. The eyes themselves are blue.
His hair is the same red as many firetrucks in our world are. It is very spiky and bunched up. He keeps the long spikes from falling into hsi hair with a white headband. The head band also serves the purpose of keeping sweat from dripping into his eyes. His hair is short near the bottom due to how he keeps it up and falls to a standard hairline. The headband is tied in the back and the strips hanging from the not fall halfway down his back when he is standing still.
Crono tends to wear loose clothing that is easy to move in. He usually has a belt on which his sword sheath is attached. He's not unknown for accesories, although they tend to be of a practical nature. The outfit he is wearing when he comes to the Island follows this theme and is described below.
His outfit has several layers to it, and at times it looks more like he wrapped up sheets than put on actual clothes. The lowest layer is a dark green shirt with a slightly loose fit. It has short sleeves. Over the top of that is a long cloudy blue vest-like piece. It wraps around front and has sleeves shorter than his shirt. It is long, coming down to just above his knees. Its very baggy, and he keeps it shut with a brown belt held on with a oval shaped gold buckle.
His pants are tan in color, and bunch up quite a bit near the bottom. They actually hug his shins, but because of the way they bunch that is concealed. He has on green socks the same color as his shirt, and they come under the pants. His boots are pretty plain. Well worn hardened leather. The tops are folded over once. The soles are the hardest part of the boots, and they actually have steel toes. Tied around his neck is a large and bunched up orange scarf. If you were to take it off, it would be huge for a scarf. He uses it for things like excess sweat. Around his wrists are two hard leather bracers, the edges are a bit raised. They look to have taken more than a few blows in their time, but still remain in good condition.
He has a dark violet satchel where he keeps supplies at his right side. It is actuall more like a backpack with short straps, he keeps it on by looping his belt through it. Attached to his left side at an angle is a long white sheath. The bottom and top of the sheath are bordered in a metalic silver metal. Sticking out of the sheath is a katana-like blade of utmost quailty, see the "Weapons" section for full details.
Weapons
Crono's weapon is a long and slightly bent blade in the style of a katana. It is of master balance and the size is an exact fit for Crono's height. Indeed, the entire blade is nothing short of what a master would make, and for good reason - Melchior, its creator, is a master weaponsmith. The blade is known as the "Rainbow" and when unsheathed it is very clear as to the reasoning.
The hilt is long and iradescent white. It seems to be some kind of semi-precious gem, perhaps a pearl. It reflects in the light with pastel rainbow colors. Etched into it are the letters "M-E-L-C-H-I-O-R" with the same kind of writing that would be called Roman letters in our world. At the base of the hilt is a silver-steel alloy cap. The guard for the blade is small, just enough so that Crono can't push his hand past. It is the same highly polished silver-steel alloy as the cap.
The blade itself appears to be pale silver of the utmost quality until any sort of light catches it. A rainbow of colors dances across it, and it is not unknown for distracting the opponent. The rainbow of colors combines pastel, normal, and dark in a stunning display. One would almost be tempted to call the blade magical, but it has no inherent magical properties. The most it does is the very natural ability of catching many opponents off guard so that Crono can better exploit openings, leading to easier "critical" strikes.
Abilities/Powers
Crono can call upon one of the four magical energies inherent to his world. While it was once believed the power was connected to Lavos, Crono's friend Lucca theorizes that it is connected more to the connection one shares with the land and the power of the heart. His power is that of Light, sometimes called Lightning, and he can cast a number of spells around that skill.
He casts the spell sthrough spoken magical words that seem to come from beyond time and space. The ability to harness his power is not inherent, but was unlocked for him by a powerful entity beyond time known as Spekkio. It takes some concentration to cast a spell, but Crono is pretty decent about maintaining it even when he is fighting alone. It is far easier for him to do so if he has someone running interference, though. His magical skills are listed below, as they are predefined.
Lightning - Greatly reduced damage to those resistant to lightning/electricity, zero damage to those immune to it. Works as a minor healing spell to those who draw power from it (Not who use it, but who actually take power from it, like a lightning elemental. Note that for the healing, electricity and lightning are treated as different).
Incantation: Ti nala... LIGHTNING!
Crono chants and a bolt of lightning is summoned and crashes into the targeted enemy. It only effects one target.
Lightning2 - Damage is less to those resistant to lightning/electricity, ineffective to those immune to it. It can actually heal those who take power from lightning (not who use it, but who actually take power from it, like a lightning elemental. Note that for the healing, electricity and lightning are treated as different).
Incantation: Ti kuro mi nala... LIGHTNING2!
A quick chant and sheet lightning strikes the area, hitting every enemy Crono knows the location of.
Luminaire - Full damage to those resistant to lightning/electricity, greatly reduced damage to those normally immune to it. It can give a slight boost to weaker entities that gain power from lightning, and can function as a strong healing spell to stronger ones (not who use it, but who actually take power from it, like a lightning elemental. Note that for the healing, electricity and lightning are treated as different).
Incantation: Ti kuro mi nala rian far sho... LUMINAIRE!
Life - This spell wakes up an unconscious target. The revived target tends to be very weak, and needs to be shielded or healed quickly or they run the risk of being targeted by the foe. It can only do so much, so if the person is gravely injured the best the spell can generally do is prevent them from dying.
Incantation: Rer jiso mieru si... LIFE!
Crono chants and focuses his energy on a single unconscious target, bathing them in light and affording some measure of healing. The spell is ineffective on those who are not unconscious.
Confuse - Crono can disorientate an opponent with this spell. The disorientated opponent is as like to hit their own allies as their enemies.
Incantation: Dir leru san pozo... CONFUSE!
I'm honestly not sure - I don't run around using this spell in game...
Skills
Crono's main skill is that with his sword. He is a master level swordsman who could go up against the best of his kingdom's knights and win if he were so inclined. He can also operate various gadgets, although anything new requires he learn from his best friend, Lucca Ashtear. He's a somewhat decent mediator, although he tends to try and use humor to diffuse a situation. It has mixed results.
His ability with a sword has granted various skills. The skills are as much abilities as not, but they don't require anything supernatural to access. He is also skilled at combining his swords skills with others. He can combine his magic with some people and his sword skills with others' magic for more impressive and/or elemental based attacks. These skills are predefined, and as such are listed here. They do not require incantations, merely a focus on the fight at hand.
Cyclone - Crono takes his sword and swings it in a rapid circle. He is basically able to hit any enemies near him in a circle motion. The reach is as long as his arm plus the length of his sword.
Slash - Crono brings down the blade in a downward sweep. It generates an energy that allows all enemies within a line straight ahead of him to get hit.
Cleave - Crono leaps into the air and drives his blade into the enemy. It is a far stronger attack than his usual ones, and is more likely to pierce armor as well.
Fire Whirl - Crono can only perform this attack with his best friend, Lucca Ashtear. Lucca fires off her "Flamethrower" attack and Crono spins the blade in a way that allows the flame to be carried with his blade. He takes the fire and performs his Cyclone attack. It is the same as that attack, except it can set enemies on fire and does extra damage to those weak against fire.
Fire Sword - Crono can only perform this attack with his best friend, Lucca Ashtear. Lucca casts her Fire spell, and Crono basically leaps into it as he is peforming his Spincut attack. The energy from the flame gets transferred into his blade. It is the same as his Spincut attack, except it has the power of fire behind it, boosting damage.
Fire Sword 2 - Crono can only perform this attack with his best friend, Lucca Ashtear. Lucca casts her Fire2 spell, and Crono casts his Confuse spell. Crono has to start a bit ahead so that once Lucca finishes casting her end of it, he can use the moment that the enemy is startled to bring down his blade in a fashion similar to the Spincut. The moment of confusion allows the attack to hit more than one enemy, but beyond that it is basically a powered up version of the Fire Sword attack.
Personality
Crono is a rather laid back individual. He's relaxed and has been called a slacker by some. He's nothing really special in that regard. He's actually not a slacker, and he's pretty focused when it comes to training with his sword. He has trouble finding people at his skill level, so he often trains by himself. Crono is a good friend and a dedicated swordsman, but he plays the group goof just as well.
The teenager doesn't really have a firm grasp of things like justice and such. He does what he thinks is right. He'd never throw his life away, but he is willing to sacrifice himself for his friends. He likes doing what is right, and he's pretty hard to upset. He's a talkative guy and he likes hanging out. He does seem to not quite get the weight of some of his actions, though, so he's a bit reckless in that regard.
History
Crono Sandview was born just over sixteen years ago in the village of Truce, the capital of the Kingdom of Guardia. His dad was a standard soldier serving the current king, and it was how Crono got interested in swordplay. He made friends with a girl named Lucca Ashtear when they were both rather young, and they'd spend a lot of time together.
One of his earliest memories is of visiting Lucca and finding her fiddling with machines, something she hadn't had any interest with the day before. When he asked about it, she said that somehow her mom had gotten caught in her father's machine and some teenage sized angel had shown up and pressed a bunch of buttons, stopping the machine. Crono just accepted it, although after the group started time travelling he put two and two together. He's pretty sure Lucca had something to do with it, although he'd never be able to explain just how.
In the year 1,000 CE, the Kingdom of Guardia threw an event known as the Millenial Fair. After getting his allowance from his mom, Crono headed up there. Lucca was working on something she was calling the Telepod. While Crono was checking out the fair, he quite literally ran into a girl with a ponytail. She stumbled over her own name, but it turned out she was named Marle. He returned the pendant she had dropped and they hung out together for a while before heading to Lucca's display.
Crono tested the Telepod so maybe people would stop making fun of Lucca's inventions. It worked great until Marle tried it. After Marle up and vanished, Crono took the pendant that had seemed to cause the Telepod to glitch and went after her with Lucca's help. Crono arrived in a strange place and had Marle who had been mistaken for a "Queen Leene" vanish on him. Lucca showed up shortly after and revealed what Crono had begun to suspect. He was four hundred years in the past, and worse, history had been altered so that Marle, or Princess Nadia had never been born.
He and Lucca joined with an anthropomorphic frog who called himself Frog and rescued the real Queen Leene, thus restoring Marle to the pages of history. Frog left the group out of self-inflicted shame at not protecting Queen Leene. When Crono was sentenced to execution by a corrupt Chancellor despite being found innocent of kidnapping Nadia, Lucca helped him escape. He, Lucca, and Marle fled through a conveniently placed timegate.
In ~2,300 CE, the three friends learned that the world would be destroyed in 1,999 CE by a being known as Lavos. They chose to try and save the world, and met many allies. A humanoid robot named X-66Y whom they nicknamed Robo. They rejoined with Frog and learned his real name was Glenn. A cave woman by the name of Ayla and the prince of a long lost kingdom who had adopted the name Magus as well.
In the Kingdom of Zeal in 10,000 BCE, Crono died in fulfillment of a prophecy trying to protect his friends. He'd be saved by those same friends and discover that Magus had joined the party. They had many other adventures before eventually three of their group raided the Black Omen, a palace outside of time that had risen from the ruins of the Kingdom of Zeal. Together the group destroyed Lavos and stabilized time. He, Lucca, and Marle bid farewell to their friends as they returned to their proper times. He helped to comfort Lucca over Robo, as it was unclear his would still exist in the altered future. They eventually had to chase after Crono's cat and his mother in their time machine, the Epoch.
After that chaos, Crono and Marle began to officially date. Lucca told Crono that the Epoch would need to be dismantled. It saddened the group, but they knew it was the right thing to do. However, Lucca went missing the day she claimed to have gone to do this. He found the Gate Key abandoned and got into the Epoch in a shining example of his recklessness. He took it to the new End of Time to ask Gaspar the Guru of Time about things.
Gaspar was pretty clueless as to what was going on, but he was pretty sure Lucca wasn't in any time period. This panicked Crono, but before much more could be done the entity that had granted him his magic came barelling out of the back room... just in time for a wave of unknown energy to rip through the End of Time and send Crono straight into the void surrounding the area... and towards Dimension Island.
Other
I don't recognize Chrono Cross as canon, if you're wondering. Yes I ship CronoxMarle, its pretty much canon anyhow. His weapon is his strongest weapon in the original SNES game, its appearance was loosely based on his weapon in the official art. His surname is made up.
I got Crono despite him already being apped because I requested him and its been a week with no response.
