Alright, before anyone says anything. It's been a while since Night's been on, it's been a while since Ash has actually been used, and the rules DO say that if someone hasn't been on in a while and/or hasn't used a character in a while, they're free for taking. And I DID PM Night a week ago saying that I was interested in taking Ash. He never replied to my PM, and based on his inactivity lately, I decided he wasn't going to be replying to it any time soon, and went ahead and apped Ash.
Now that that's all over with...
Full Name: Ash Ketchum
Nicknames: Twerp
Age: Around 13, 14-ish
Height: n/a
Weight: n/a
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Pallet Town, Kanto
Franchise: Pokémon (Anime)
Physical Description: Ash is a fairly average height, average size teenager. He has lightly tanned skin and dark brown eyes. His black hair is nothing short of unruly. It sticks up all in the front, it sticks up all in the lower back, but because the guy never takes off that hat he wears, it doesn’t stick up at all in the back of his head. All in all, this looks fairly odd and pretty bad. In fact, he could probably use a good comb to this mop of hair on his head. Of course, the law of anime genetics means that it’s entirely possible that his hair is naturally like this, thus meaning no combing of any kind can fix it. Alternatively, he just needs a haircut.
For clothing, Ash tends to wear a very particular outfit. As in, it’s the only outfit he has on him, and it would probably be very unclean and just disgusting in general if it weren’t for Brock (Though he does make sure to change his underwear every day). The outfit consists of a white t-shirt, a black vest, fingerless black gloves and blue jeans. On top of his head is his characteristic hat, which, like the rest of his outfit, was received from his mother as well. The hat is red with a black stripe going vertically across the top and has a blue insignia similar to a Pokéball, but without the bottom section. The black vest has a rather tall white collar section to it and has a yellow stripe going horizontally across Ash’s chest. The jeans are baggy and have four pockets, two of them being pouches instead of traditional pockets. The Running Shoes Ash tends to wear are black with a red section to them that are meant to imitate the bottom section of a Pokeball, with white soles.
Weapons: Ash doesn’t actually keep any weapons on him, though he has several items he keeps inside his backpack that could be made into improvised weapons. Unless you mean his Pokémon. If you do, that’s not very nice.
Abilities/Powers: Ash has potential as an Aura Guardian, as he has manipulated aura in the past and apparently has a similar aura to Sir Aaron. He doesn’t have any training in this field, though, so he isn’t very skilled at using aura for really anything.
This isn’t really much of a power, but Ash seems to have an odd connection to legendary Pokémon, particularly Ho-Oh, who he’s seen several times during his journey when many trainers have fought to even catch a glimpse of the Pokémon. One island even considered him their “Chosen One”, though this was due to a coincidence due to the fact that he was a trainer and a prophecy on their island stated that a Pokémon Trainer would deliver them from calamity, though one translation of the prophecy states that “the world will turn to ash”. Take that however you wish.
Skills: Ash’s skills revolve around Pokémon training and befriending. He’s rather good at Pokémon battling, though some of his strategies make no sense whatsoever (for example, the WTF that is Thunder Armor), and mainly revolve around speedy and maneuverable Pokémon like Pikachu, though he’s willing to work with any Pokémon that come into his care. He’s pretty bad at Pokémon Contests, and though he owns a Contest Pass, he only used it for one contest, the only contest he intended on ever entering.
Personality: Ash, at first glance, appears to be your average earnest, rash, determined trainer. Which he was at first. He has a great deal of loyalty toward his Pokémon and friends, most of all his Pokémon. He believes that the best way to find and use the inner strength of his Pokémon is to bond with them and doesn’t approve of trainers who just treat Pokémon like objects, things to be used and then thrown away later. He does rely on other people a fair bit, something he doesn’t often admit. He’s much closer to his Pokémon than he is his human friends, but as time goes on, he has begun to see his human friends in a similar light. The term “best friend” is still reserved for only a few people.
History: Ash was an only child who lived in Pallet Town with his mother. He never really knew his father, since he had left when Ash was younger to go on a Pokémon Journey of his own. His only real friend (and not only that; they were really rivals) was a Gary Oak, whose grandfather was the Pokémon Professor of their small town. They mostly fought, and at one time, they found a Pokéball while fishing. The two of them fought over who would get to keep it, and ended up breaking it in half.
Eventually, the day of Ash’s tenth birthday came, and with it, the day that he could get his first Pokémon. Unfortunately for Ash, he had been so hyped for the day’s coming that he overslept (the fact that he broke his alarm clock in his sleep did not help), and not only did Gary get there first, but he and his troupe of fangirls/girlfriends took Professor Oak’s last starter Pokémon for beginning trainers, a Squirtle. However, Ash was determined to start his journey that day, and Oak reluctantly gave him a rather disgruntled and just plain uncontrollable Pikachu that did not want to stay in its Pokéball, and Ash ended up having to tug it around on a leash made from a clothesline (which he received, along with several other essential supplies and several reminders to make sure he changes his underwear every day, from his mom) until an incident just about fifteen minutes after Ash left Pallet Town that involved a flock of bloodthirsty Spearow. Ash insisted on protecting Pikachu from the Spearow, and eventually, Pikachu paid Ash back for his loyalty to his Pokémon by using an amazingly powerful Thundershock to shock the entire flock and saving Ash’s life in the process. The effort left Pikachu drained and close to death. Before Ash got up to take Pikachu to the nearest Pokémon Center in Viridian City, he spotted a Pokémon not even his Pokedex could identify up in the air, a Pokémon he later discovered was Ho-Oh. From this moment on, Ash and Pikachu were the best of friends.
Ash later befriended two people he would spend a large portion of his journey with, Misty, the Gym Leader of the Cerulean City Gym, and Brock, the Gym Leader of the Pewter City Gym. However, at this point in his journey, Ash was rather inexperienced, and in fact, most of his Gym Badges were pity badges given to him out of putting a good effort into his battles. Every now and then he’d cross paths with Gary, who would always be a good fourteen steps ahead of him. And then Ash had to deal with the bumbling members of Team Rocket, Jessie and James and their talking Meowth, who were obsessed with catching his Pikachu and showing it to their boss so they could finally get a promotion. Eventually, Ash earned his eighth gym badge and went to the Indigo League, where he made it to the fifth round of the League. Unfortunately, he lost in that fifth round to Ritchie, a trainer he’d met during the league. However, he didn’t give up, and went to the Orange League from there.
During the Orange League, Brock left to work with a Professor Ivy, and Ash was later joined by a Tracey Sketchit and caught a Lapras, which was his main mode of transportation during this time. This was one of the few leagues that Ash actually managed to win during his career as a Pokémon Trainer. After the Orange League, a traumatized Brock rejoined Ash’s group while Tracey left to work with Professor Oak. Ash and friends then travelled to the Johto League and later the Silver Conference, where Ash finally defeated his old rival Gary, but lost later on to a trainer from Hoenn.
It was after the Silver Conference that Ash finally parted ways with his old friends Misty and Brock, who had gone to resume their positions as Gym Leaders. Ash also decided to get a fresh start in Hoenn, leaving all of his Pokémon except Pikachu with Professor Oak. In the Hoenn League, Ash met May and her brother Max, as well as rejoined up with Brock. The four of them travelled Hoenn, Ash focusing on Pokémon Gyms while May focused on Pokémon Contests. Ash once again participated in that particular region’s league and once again lost in the higher rounds of the league, but he wasn’t deterred. Instead, he decided to go on to the Battle Frontier he’d heard about in Kanto, and travelled around Kanto once again. He actually managed to defeat all of the Frontier Brains, which is an accomplishment in itself.
After completing the Battle Frontier challenge, Ash travelled to Sinnoh, where he once again tried to make a fresh start, parting ways with his friends May, Max, and Brock, and attempting to go with just Pikachu. Unfortunately, one of Ash’s Pokémon, Aipom, ignored his decision and stowed away on the ship Ash travelled to Sinnoh in.
Once in Sinnoh, Ash met up with Brock once again as well as meeting another prospecting Coordinator, Dawn, and the two of them began to travel through Sinnoh, where they began to run afoul of Team Galactic. Eventually, Ash and friends travelled to the top of Mt. Coronet to stop Cyrus’ plans to create an entirely new universe, and managed to stop it as it was being formed. Cyrus stepped into the closing portal to this universe, and Mars managed to have a fairly epic freakout. However, their problems were not over, as Dialga and Palkia were now free from Cyrus’ control, and were now beginning to unmake that dimension, combining Roar of Time and Spatial Rend to create a swirling portal of destruction. The interference of time and space caused various distortions of both within Spear Pillar. This resulted in Ash and his Pokémon being torn from his dimension and thrown into the Dimensional Void. He might have been lost there for good if it weren’t for some sort of mysterious force throwing Ash from the Void onto the Dimensional Island.
Other: It’s not noted in the history section, but this version of Ash regards all of the Pokémon movies up to the latest one (Arceus and the Jewel of Life) as canon. I had a hard time figuring out where to fit them in when it came to the order of events, so I just left them out of the main history section.
Everything in the above history section up until those last two sentences is completely canon. Those last two sentences are not canon, though, and are fanon to justify Ash’s being pulled to the island.
Also, bikes beware around Ash. If you own a bike, and you are a girl, and you are just meeting Ash, rest assured that his Pikachu WILL incinerate it and you and your fanservicey self WILL end up following the twerp around.
Pokémon:
Genders are guessed for Pokémon that don’t have them confirmed in the anime already.
Pikachu
-Gender: Male
-Moves: Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Volt Tackle
-Notes: Ash’s starter and best friend. Has been with him since the beginning, is rarely apart from him, and is in general very close to his trainer. Refuses to evolve, even though Ash still keeps a Thunderstone on him in case Pikachu ever decides to evolve.
Staraptor
-Gender: Male
-Moves: Quick Attack, Aerial Ace, Brave Bird, Close Combat
-Notes: One of Ash’s first Pokémon caught in Sinnoh, caught as a Starly to help him find Pikachu after he got lost. Doesn’t really do much.
Grotle
-Gender: Male
-Moves: Synthesis, Energy Ball, Rock Climb, Leaf Storm
-Notes: A Pokémon Ash caught as a Turtwig and one of his most difficult to train due to how slow and heavy he is compared to the rest of Ash’s Pokémon. He’s stubborn and brave, but has a kind side.
Monferno
-Gender: Male
-Moves: Flame Wheel, Dig, Flamethrower, Mach Punch
-Notes: A Pokémon who originally belonged to Paul before being released. Ash chose to take him in afterwards. He tries to be brave, but he still has problems with a lot of things due to how he was treated by Paul.
Buizel
-Gender: Male
-Moves: Water Gun, Sonic Boom, Aqua Jet, Ice Punch
-Notes: A battlethirsty Pokémon who actually originally belonged to Dawn before she and Ash decided to have a trade due to Buizel’s dislike of Contests and Aipom’s growing like of Contests. He doesn’t get along well with other Pokemon.
Gliscor
-Gender: Female
-Moves: X-Scissor, Sand-Attack, Steel Wing, Fire Fang
-Notes: A Pokémon caught as a Gligar by Ash. She has a habit of sticking her tongue out and winking and is a bit of a crybaby.
