Full Name: Tai Zhou
Nicknames: n/a
Age: Unknown, but appears to be in his early to mid twenties
Height: ? (average)
Weight: ? (average with a fair bit of muscle)
Gender: Male
Race: Artificial Magical Creature (with the appearance of a Pabu… also totally not related to my old job on Teripets nope)
Alliance: Good
Home: Redwall City (or so he says…)
Franchise: n/a
Physical Description: Tai, as an anthropomorphic creature, looks pretty far from human while still keeping a humanoid appearance. His entire body is covered in short brown fur. His hands, while they have opposable fingers, still have black hooves on the end of them. He also has some rather long, cowlike ears and long black horns that curve back behind his head. Protruding from his hips is a long cow’s tail as well, which is tipped with a black tuft of fur. His hair is a rather odd color, with his bangs being a bright blond color, with the rest of his head being black. His eyes are a rather odd shade, appearing purple at first glance, but if one were to examine them more closely, one would find that they shine with varying colors.
For clothing, Tai prefers a more traditional Chinese outfit, wearing a grey shirt with very long sleeves that stretch down to his fingertips. The shirt is covered in a maple leaf print. He also wears black pants and black dress shoes.
Should Tai be injured too badly, some of his true appearance might show from the injuries, in the form of multi-colored strands. These are the strands of memory that his entire body is formed from, and should he die, his entire body will unravel into.
Weapons: Tai doesn’t use any, but he is fairly competent with a jian (a double-edged Chinese sword). If you asked him how he knew how to use one, he wouldn’t be able to give you a straight answer, though.
Abilities/Powers: As far as Tai’s powers go, most of them are single use abilities that will kill him should they be used. His main one is the ability to sacrifice his entire being to place a seal on something. He’s had to use this ability three times over three different artificial lives, all on the same person. He can also wipe a person’s memories clean, which usually occurs as he is doing the previous ability on someone. This one will also kill Tai. His third isn’t really a power so much as the will of the gods, but Tai will be incarnated into another, very similar form, should this one die. That form may not have the exact memories as the previous Tai, though.
His one ability that won’t kill him is the ability to summon a jian from memory strands, which he prefers not to do when anyone’s watching.
Skills: Tai is rather skilled at several different Chinese martial arts, particularly tai chi, which he claims he practices for health purposes. It’s his main method of defending himself in battles, and he can pretty easily wipe the floor with someone due to many, many, many, many, many years of practice. (Being the gods’ plaything really helps with that.)
Personality: About 90% of the time, Tai is a calm, but happy person. There’s not much that can wipe the smile off of his face. He tends to go along with the flow, and he’s not the type to grieve for too long after a tragedy. He also seems to be playing dumb a lot of the time (which he is.) Some of his major issues involve his nature as an artificial being and his feelings for other sentient beings (*cough*tryragga*cough*), as well as the nature of his existence altogether. He doesn’t bring these up except around people he really trusts, though.
History: A very, very, very long time ago, maybe even before recorded history, there was a great hero named Tai Tao. It was a sucky name, everyone could agree on this one fact, but it was his name. No one can really remember exactly what Tai Tao did but he did something that was enough for the gods to decide to remember his name forever. He became the gods’ personal champion, even once he was long dead. When trouble appeared, beings similar to the original Tai would appear in those areas to do whatever was needed to ease things along.
There eventually came the time of the fall of Mysteana. It was a kingdom, long sheltered from the modern world that, unbeknownst to even its own inhabitants, was home to a long exiled God of Chaos. The god of chaos, Defiled, was in truth one half of a whole, but he had long since taken the other half and shattered its essence, implanting it into various people in the kingdom so that he may eventually absorb the energy for himself. The strongest piece had been implanted in the prince of the kingdom, Tryragga, who began to be unable to hold it back after the long war. The gods dispatched a Tai to Mysteana just as the Shard of Chaos was about to break free and sealed it away before killing the young prince. From there, the prince had a curse of reincarnation placed on him so that he would continue to reincarnate until he finally died of old age, causing the Shard of Chaos to die with him. The end result was the kingdom fell under the strength of the God of Chaos, and it was wiped from the map.
Tryragga incarnated at a Taoist monastery. Things had already been prepared there, with the memories of the monks there already been modified so that they would remember the man, and another Tai was dispatched. Something happened over the years there that no one had expected, though. Tryragga began to gain feelings for Tai, who had been acting the role of his old friend. Nothing could be acted on by the time things went to hell, though, as a group of shadowy, skull masked creatures, assumed to be Defiled’s servants, attacked the monastery. Several people were killed there, and Tai was badly wounded. The power of the Shard of Chaos overwhelmed this incarnation of Tryragga, breaking Tai’s seal that had long held, and he fought back against the monsters in his berserk rage. Even when they were all dead, he didn’t stop, and Tai, already starting to unravel into the memory strands that made him up, managed to make it over to Tryragga and get him to stop long enough to seal the shard away again. Tryragga and Tai both died from their wounds, and they both faded away into memory strands.
When Tryragga’s third incarnation manifested, supposedly coming out of a coma in a hospital, another Tai was dispatched, once again as his good friend. But something from the previous life remained. Tryragga’s lingering feelings for the being that only existed just to seal him away in case the previous one broke were still there, even if the former wouldn’t act on them. Tai began to struggle with his sense of being. He knew what he existed for; he wasn’t supposed to be getting into things like this.
Things happened involving a neighbor of Tryragga’s and the two Chaos Gods that ended with Tai carting Tryragga’s neighbor off to the abode of a powerful Syr named Rylou for her own protection. Tryragga was coming dangerously close to learning about his curse (both of them; the Shard and his curse of reincarnation) and finally found out about both when Zathion, the “light” (in the weakest sense of the word) half of the Chaos God attacked Tryragga and attempted to absorb his Shard right out of his body. Tai intervened, and managed to fight Zathion off.
Things hadn’t calmed down yet, though, as something unexplained happened. Rylou burst out of his home yelling about something when some sort of dimensional distortion occurred and Tryragga was pulled from the dimension. Tai panicked, and ordered Rylou to send him to wherever Tryragga had been sent. Rylou said that he couldn’t get a fix on where Tryragga was, but he could send him to someone who might be able to help. Tai was then sent to the island via a spell to seek out Himitsu, an old acquaintance of Rylou’s. What he doesn’t know is that when he gets there, Himitsu’s already dead…
Other: If I wasn’t being entirely obvious already, yes, Tai’s based on one of my old Teripets. Specifically one who I never really made into a pet all that much. I made him three separate times, and abandoned him twice. I never could decide whether he should live or die.
