Physical Description (Kaoru)
Kaoru is a Japanese teenage girl of average height and average weight giving her slight muscular development. Its nothing that is all that visible, but it does effect her weight just a bit. Her skin is of an average tone, although it's just a bit on the tanned side. She's often described as having a tougher than average appearance.
She has large eyes capable of holding a variety of expressions and are forest green in color. Her black (arguably dark purple/blue) hair has a very jagged/spiky style to it, with the spikes facing all facing in one general direction or another. Her bangs are shaped a bit like the bottom part of an arrow and have a slight split above either eye. She also has a thick chunk of hair with a wide bottom fall in front of each ear. Often times, however, her hair will be concealed with a hat of sometime.
Kaoru likes to dress in outfits that are easy to move in. She despises skirts and will never willingly wear one and dislikes anything "cute". Shorts and pants are both common, often suiting to the weather. She has a casual "masculine" style over all.
She is wearing one of her preferred outfits when she comes to the Island, although not her most common. It consists of green sweatpants with black stripes down the side, a matching green jacket with white stripes from the shoulders down to the sleeves. The part that zips up is worn open and lined in white all the way to the top of the tall collar. A single white stripe goes to
. Her shirt is a black t-shirt and extends down further than the jacket. It has a slight dip at the front of the color and both it and the sleeves are lined in a somewhat light green. Just below the collar dip are four thin oval shapes arranged in a "plus" sign that come to points at the inner part. The points don't come lose to touching.
Like with most of her outfits, Kaoru has a hat on. It is dark green and has a bit of a "poof" to it. It has a short bill. Around the lower edge is a green belt-like piece that is actually part of the hat but runts through thick dividing parts something like belt loops. On the left side, a somewhat large white skull is attached to the belt-like pieces. Her shoes are white tennis shoes with chartreuse green markings on the front, the heel and lining the parts where the white laces tie. The soles are white.
Around her waist is the one part of her outfit she almost never takes off. It's a fancy looking white belt that snaps on, and she wears it over the top of any shirt she might be wearing. It hangs from her waist at an angle, the right side hanging down most often. On the right side are three circles. They are blue, dark pink/red, and green respectively, going in that order from the one closest to the belt "buckle". Set in the front of the belt is something that resembles a belt buckle. It is actually a removable compact similar to a make-up compact. It is green and has a white base and gold-colored edges. A giant light blue "P" is emblazoned on the front.
Physical Description (Buttercup)
Powered Buttercup, or Buttercup as everyone who knows her in this form calls her, seems to look like Kaoru in a different outfit. However, she "reads" as Buttercup, not Kaoru (see Abilities/Powers).
Aside from he pseudo-scientific art of disguise, the previous basic descriptors for Kaoru still apply. However, the outfit is quite different. She is wearing a one piece green blue swimsuit that grows into a miniskirt at the bottom. Near the top, just above the chest the suit is black. It continues to be black the rest of the way up, including the straps.
The miniskirt is pleated like one might see upon a Sailor Moon character. The bottom tip is black. While the skirt extends from the suit as one piece, it fits like a swimsuit underneath. Pantyshots would be no worse than a girl running around in a standard one piece swimsuit.
Buttercup has on a denim mini-vest. The main part is yellow. The bottom and raised collar of the mini-vest are striped with three stripes. The top and bottom are green, and the center part is white. The padded shoulder guard pieces are green. She has a black choker.
She wears black fingerless gloves with sturdy rounded wrist guards. A thick green strip is at the center of the guards. Near the base of her right middle finger is a gold charm ring of sorts. The top is a large round circle that is green with a light green "P" set in the center. Her shoes are heavy duty green laceless tennis shoes with white soles. They are topped by the same guard as the gloves, with the same pattern. The bottoms of the shoes have a green hole directly in the center. It raises up just a touch, but its not enough to harm the structure of the shoes. In her hair, just back from the temple on either side, is a half rhombus (3D diamond) shaped green barrette piece.
The belt that Kaoru wears around her waist is visible on Buttercup as well. It is the only part of her outfit that remains visually the same. This does not give away her identity, however. (see Abilities/Powers)
She has a white light aura to those that can sense it. Not really "holy", but an aura of all things "good and pure".
Weapons (Kaoru)
Kaoru doesn't carry any weapons. She can do some good damage with a skateboard when she has one, though. She also has a fair few martial arts skills and isn't afraid to use her fists.
The compact set in her belt could be considered a weapon, as its the source of her ability to transform into Buttercup (see Abilities/Powers). The compact comes out of the place it is set in her belt and opens like a cellphone. When opened it reveals a miniature video screen and can be used as a visual communicator.
There are bunches of gold colored buttons on the inside. The screen is on the top and framed in gold with symmetrical gold circles of varying sizes between the edge and the screen. On the bottom is a large gold button with three triangular buttons below it. From left to right, they are green, dark pink/red, and blue. Above the center button are more symmetrical gold circles.
Weapons (Buttercup)
Buttercup's weapon is a giant hammer with a long handle. The style of hammer is known as a "Daruma Otoshi" hammer in Japan, and a similar weapon is used by Amy Rose of Sonic the Hedgehog. The hammer seems to have some slight size changing abilities as needed, but its nothing that is ever noted by anyone in her world. The main changes seen are a change in the hammer size and a lengthening of the handle.
The main part of the hammer is yellow. The ends are larger than the rest, although a wide yellow ring raises from the center part. The parts between the three yellow parts are dark grey. The handle is yellow and tipped in a blue orb at the bottom. Just below the main hammer part is an area of blue, presumably for some kind of pseudo-stability. From the center ring another blue part caps the top of the hammer. The flat end of both sides of the hammer has a large green "P" which takes up as much space as it can without being cut off.
The hammer can be used in varying methods. She can use it simply as a hammer, but she is also able to perform special techniques with it. It should be noted that the hammer is extremely heavy to the point that even working together Blossom and Bubbles have trouble lifting it. The ability to easily use it is actually connected to her identity as Buttercup as well as her strength. (see Abilities/Powers).
Abilities/Powers (Kaoru)
Kaoru has only the one power. She is able to use the compact to transform into Buttercup with a shout of "Powered Buttercup!" - She also has to take the compact out and pass her hand through it to trigger the transformation.

First off, while Buttercup does have a theme of sort with her powers, they are very dynamic. In a pinch she can learn new attacks or powers.
Her hammer has a standard set of attacks of varying methods. She has a series of named attacks, although it is not impossible for her to improvise should a situation call for her. Her main attacks require varying degrees of stamina, but Kaoru can sometimes get a bit reckless and over use them.
An interesting power is the ease at which she uses her hammer. While people with superhuman strength could in theory pick up the hammer, Buttercup is the only one who can use it effectively. Even to Superman it would be damn heavy and he wouldn't be able to get more than a few clumsy swings out of it.
Megaton Dunk - It consists of Buttercup raising her hammer above her head and smashing it down on the opponent in a move similar to a "dunk".
Graviton Drive - Buttercup raises the hammer and brings it smashing down onto the ground, which sends a wave of energy at the opponent in a straight line. Also capable of causing collateral damage to the ground in a manner similar to an earthquake.
Swing Sonic - A fairly simple move where Buttercup swings her hammer as if she is hitting something, but stops it. A burst of green tinted energy continues forth from where she "hit" and hits the opponent.
Swing Sonic Flash - A slightly modified version of Swing Sonic. The method of performing is the same, but the power of the attack divides evenly between many different "pieces" of energy. The most she has split it up into is seven, but she could do more if the situation needed it.
Hurricane Lutz - Buttercup starts spinning in a rapid circle like a tornado, building up energy and smashing into the opponent several times. She can keep this move going for a while, becoming a figurative tornado on the field.
Smash Block - She basically performs Swing Sonic, but instead of creating an attack she creates a energy shield for a short amount of time.
Abilities/Powers (Both)
Whenever Kaoru transforms, her compact sends a signal back to Professor Utonium's (the unofficial guardian of the PPGZ) lab to let him know one of the girls has transformed so he can send reinforcements. As Buttercup, it helps the Professor keep track of where she is.
The Professor can also communicate with the girls via the compacts. However, the dimensional distance between her homeworld and Dimensional Island means the GPS-like function and the long distance communications don't work. If someone good with machines were to open the compacts up, they could alter them to work as super cellphones on the Island.
Also, the compact requires a signal - While it is amazingly good and can function in almost any circumstance, the communication ability fails in subways and similar areas.
Skills
Kaoru and Buttercup share the same skills. Anything exclusive to Buttercup is better described as a power.
Kaoru is good at any and all sports. She's tried most and can pick up a sport quickly. She is good at fighting, skateboarding, and just about anything as long as its athletic. She is an expert on sports and can flawlessly come up with the winning scores as much as five years back. She's particularly good at wrestling.
In battle, she functions best on the front lines due to her reckless fighting style.
Personality
Kaoru is a bit rough around the edges. She can be fairly ornery and dislikes anything girly. Pink, dresses, frills, cute, girls. She is very much a tomboy, but she's not a mean person. She appreciates sports and loves to see people trying their hardest at them. She has a "mild" addiction to sports shows and loves watching things like football.
She gets annoyed easily and doesn't handle frustration well. Sometimes she has trouble knowing when to back down and she never runs from a fight. She dislikes being told what to do. She does well enough in school being neither outstanding or short in any of her classes aside from gym. She's really nice if you get her on the right subject, although sometimes she seems not to understand that laughing at certain shortcomings can be rude. She's also afraid of ghosts, but she'd never admit it.
History
Kaoru was a fairly ordinary tomboy for most of her life. She did have the oddity of not knowing her father's face due to his occupation as a Spanish-style wrestler, but all in all she was pretty ordinary. One day, Professor Utonium and his son Ken managed to change the properties of Chemical X by dropping a Strawberry bun into the concoction thanks to the digital dog, Peach. It was dubbed Chemical Z. When a giant glacier appeared in Tokyo Bay, Ken fired off the newly formed chemical into the glacier.
Dozens of black lights and four white lights shot from the exploded glacier. The black lights hit various people, animals, and objects throughout Tokyo. The white lights hit Peach and three girls in Tokyo City. It was then that Kaoru first transformed into Powered Buttercup... and she hated the skirt. After some chaos she met up with the other two girls. It took some pretty heavy convincing that lead to a wrecked lab, but Momoko and Miyako managed to convince Kaoru to join up and become the "Fighting Love Science Legend, Powerpuff Girls Z".
The next months would be spent learning about the powers granted to them by the white lights and the powers granted to the new monsters by the black lights. In these months, Kaoru managed to become really good friends with Momoko and Miyako, even tolerating their "girly" behavior better than she would with most people.
Eventually she and her friends would learn the black lights came from an entity whose name was so horrible they called it "Him" to avoid scarring people. The girls worked together and were finally able to seal Him thanks to a bit of creative time traveling and releasing the powers of their white light.
They had thought this would cause them to lose the powers they had come to love, but in an event that astounded Professor Utonium and Ken, all four of them (Peach being the fourth) retained their powers. Then again, so did the monsters, but Him had been defeated. The girls continued to fight to protect the peace of Tokyo City.
One day Kaoru and the other two PPGZ (Momoko and Miyako) were cleaning the Dynamo Z time travel device. They'd gotten into a bit of trouble and were being made to clean it as punishment. Professor Utonium had to step out when Peach alerted the girls to some trouble being raised by a high concentration of black light. It was high enough that Peach was concerned Him had come back.
The girls were understandably worried and transformed. While Dynamo Z wasn't meant to be a weapon, they all agreed it was too cool to not parade around every once in a while. They took off in the Blossom-like mecha and headed towards the source of the black light energy. It was directly over Mt. Fuji when a mysterious short circuit sent Dynamo Z hurtling towards the extinct volcano's crater.
The girls panicked, again quite understandably, and were trying to bust their way out of Dynamo Z when a spark caught Blossom. Bubbles tried to rescue Blossom with her powers, but it caused the odd sparking to jump from a quickly vanishing Blossom to the summoned bubbles, and then to Bubbles herself. It was at that moment Buttercup managed to bust a hole in the side of the mecha. With both Blossom and Bubbles gone, she flew out hoping to figure things out. As a result, she was the only one who saw the portal and was yanked into it with greater speed due to Dynamo Z trying to auto correct. As a result, she'd actually maintain her transformed form when she sound herself on Dimension Island...
Other
Standard magical girl fare applies for Powered Buttercup. She has to say her attacks to use them, she can't fight much unless transformed, etc. My Kaoru comes from Japanese canon,and indeed, Kaoru's reference image is screen capped from the TV-Nihon fansub.
There is NO way to guess Kaoru=Buttercup. Not even from stupidly observant characters. Its one of the specifics of her canon.
Much of her application was copied from my application for Miyako/Bubbles for sanity purposes. None of it was capped, though, it was all retyped.

One day Kaoru and the other two PPGZ (Momoko and Miyako) were cleaning the Dynamo Z time travel device. They'd gotten into a bit of trouble and were being made to clean it as punishment. Professor Utonium had to step out when Peach alerted the girls to some trouble being raised by a high concentration of black light. It was high enough that Peach was concerned Him had come back.
The girls were understandably worried and transformed. While Dynamo Z wasn't meant to be a weapon, they all agreed it was too cool to not parade around every once in a while. They took off in the Blossom-like mecha and headed towards the source of the black light energy. It was directly over Mt. Fuji when a mysterious short circuit sent Dynamo Z hurtling towards the extinct volcano's crater.
The girls panicked, again quite understandably, and were trying to bust their way out of Dynamo Z when a spark caught Blossom. Bubbles tried to rescue Blossom with her powers, but it caused the odd sparking to jump from a quickly vanishing Blossom to the summoned bubbles, and then to Bubbles herself. It was at that moment Buttercup managed to bust a hole in the side of the mecha. With both Blossom and Bubbles gone, she flew out hoping to figure things out. As a result, she was the only one who saw the portal and was yanked into it with greater speed due to Dynamo Z trying to auto correct. As a result, she'd actually maintain her transformed form when she sound herself on Dimension Island...

Standard magical girl fare applies for Powered Buttercup. She has to say her attacks to use them, she can't fight much unless transformed, etc. My Kaoru comes from Japanese canon,and indeed, Kaoru's reference image is screen capped from the TV-Nihon fansub.
There is NO way to guess Kaoru=Buttercup. Not even from stupidly observant characters. Its one of the specifics of her canon.
Much of her application was copied from my application for Miyako/Bubbles for sanity purposes. None of it was capped, though, it was all retyped.
