Full Name: Elwood Harvey
Nicknames: The Measurement Super Child, Psychic Yardstick, the team seamstress
Age: 23
Height: 5’11’’
Weight: 127 lbs.
Gender: Male
Race: Human Super Child, American
Alliance: Good
Home: San Francisco, California
Franchise: Super Eds
Physical Description: Elwood is a tall, pale, lanky, string-bean of a man. He has deep green eyes that always seem at ease, and multiple ear piercings (he had a lower lip piercing once, but it just got in the way after a while, and the hole’s closed by now). He had his red hair cut short all except for two long trails on either side (he loves to whip them around dramatically). His clothing varies on whatever he’s in the mood for, and he certainly isn’t above crossdressing, but all his clothes reflect his outlandish taste in design. What’s usually consistent is the plum bandana he dons, and when crossdressing, he fancies wigs and hats.
Weapons: Twin crochet needles he affectionately named San and Fran. On each, one end is hooked and dull (for actual crocheting), and the other is thin and sharp (for obvious reasons).
Abilities/Powers: Elwood’s power involves instantaneous measuring; he can look at anything with dimensions and tell you its exact measurements. With quick understanding of these figures, he is also a whiz at Conics, Geometry and Trigonometry, and can make such calculations purely in his head.
Skills: Elwood mainly uses this power for his huge interest in fashion. He can look at a person, determine their measurements, and quickly seam them clothing to match, with his own extravagant taste thrown in. He’s known as the Skylark team’s seamstress, as he often mends torn clothing and creates new outfits when he feels they need an “fresh look.” Which is often, of course.
He also uses the ability for cooking, at times. His general skill with numbers also makes him in charge of record-keeping.
Basically, he’s a behind-the-scenes kind of member of the team. As much as he loathes dullness, he knows for a fact he’s no fighter. He hardly uses his power to fight; he can’t even think of a way it could be useful in a brawl! But hey, if Fletcher could become an aerial sharpshooter with only the power of flight, maybe Elwood has some potential he has yet to explore…
Personality: Elwood is as about as eccentric as one can get, but he is above arrogance. He is all about the creative motivation, an artist at heart. He’s generally a swell person to talk to, and he’ll often strike friendly chats with whoever he’s modeling with. He’s never afraid to speak his mind, and those who know him well will go to him for emotional pep talks, usually with the excuse of ripped clothing that needs to be mended. He’s a bit of a busybody, and his hands always have to be working for him to be comfortable; even when sitting in a team meeting, he’ll be crocheting while intently listening.
History: Born in Oakland and quickly moved to San Francisco, Elwood’s parents knew right off the bat that he was different from other young boys. When most boys wanted toy trucks and baseball bats, he wanted crochet needles and a sensible pair of shoes. They gave him a healthy upbringing nonetheless, and supported his desire to one day become a great fashion designer.
However, he didn’t excel much in school. He scrapped by each grade with low Bs and high to mid Cs. In his senior year of high school, he was in danger of repeating if he didn’t pass his math final, failing the class and not having the GPA required to graduate.
Stress came to him naturally as he tried hard to study, but nothing was sticking. But the night before the exam, he was hit with a migraine more massive than all others. It felt like the frontal lobe of his brain was swelling and ready to burst! Naturally, he had little sleep as a result and walked into his final exam exhausted, but all of the sudden, the equations he faced had become a breeze. His test came back to him with 100%, and he passed, graduated, and attended the fashion university of his choosing.
Elwood became known for two things; his extravagant, outlandish designs and the rate it took him to make them. When other students would turn in one or two outfits for their projects, Elwood had five or six, and none of them lacked quality. He was praised for his precision of detail. Whatever the school didn’t archive, he kept for himself; to this day, he rarely wears anything he didn’t make himself.
Some time passed by as he graduated and began interning around the San Francisco Fashion District. He hadn’t even been conscious of his powers, much less cared how he managed the feats that he did; he was too embroiled in the industry he had dreamed of. However, over time, he began to grow weary; it was always the same lollipop-shaped girls with the same design requests. His felt his creativity was suffering, and he wanted to get a big break where he’d be free to unleash his wild design ideas onto the world.
His desires came in a mixed bag; a group of men (in the most tackiest uniforms he had ever seen) began a riot in the current outlet he was working at, tearing through clothing stands and frightening patrons. Not willing to stand for such disrespect, he stood to adamantly protest and threatened to call security, and that’s when they brought out the weapons and took him down, claiming they were hear to exterminate yet another heathen. Elwood had NO clue what they meant at first, but before they could kill him, police stormed in and arrested the group, and unable to move much, he was carried out of the trashed store by a young man with sandalwood hair and clothes circa 18th century.
Fletcher informed him of many things all at once; it was struggling to even wrap his head around the fact that he even HAD a superpower. But it did explain quite a bit, so Elwood shrugged it off and laughed at the fact that this branch of the Tribunal had been stupid enough to attack him in broad daylight with countless witnesses.
He was instructed to come with Fletcher to a safer location for the time being until the Tribunal were dealt with, but Elwood saw his chance and made a proposition to join his team as a sidelines member, mending clothes, keeping records, housekeeping, the like. Fletcher was eventually convinced, and Elwood bit his dear, ever-supportive parents farewell as he left to begin his new exciting career.
Fletcher denied an opportunity for a makeover, ‘paying tribute to his grandfather,’ he reasoned. ‘But there’s a trio of boys we’ll be meeting up with soon who I’m sure would love a fresh new look.’
Other: Elwood claims to be metrosexual, but he has been too involved in his career to attempt romantic relationships of any kind, so his true sexuality is undetermined.
