Full Name: Hawk Dwarfbird
Nicknames: Hermes
Age: 17
Height: 0'5''
Weight: 2.2 pounds
Gender: Male
Race: Spearow
Alliance: True Neutral
Home: Johto region
Franchise: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Physical Description: Hermes is very small for his species, which wasn't even that big to begin with. He has the normal coloring of his species, and his feet are usually bandaged up. Around his neck is what appears to be part of a well-worn belt. It is known as an "Expert Belt" in his world, and it slightly boosts the power of super-effective attacks.
Weapons: His beak.
Abilities/Powers: His attacks;
*Drill Peck- A corkscrewing attack with the beak acting as a drill.
*Pursuit- An attack that inflects bad damage on a fleeing foe.
*Mirror Move- Replicating the last attack used against him.
*Roost- Landing to rest and restore the body, he is grounded for a short time after using this move.
*Fury Attack- Rapidly jabbing the foe with his beak.
*Steel Wing- Striking the foe with stiff wings, this attack may increase his physical defense afterwords.
*Heat Wave- Releasing a blast of hot air to attack.
Hermes' eyes are very sharp. Sand, mud, or whatever is chucked into his face will not obscure his vision at all, as his eyes seem to see right through it. This is how his "Keen Eye" ability manifests itself.
Skills: Hermes, in spite of wanting to be larger, has admitted that his size comes in handy. His ability to fly, combined with his coloring and silenced wing beats, has made him into the team's stealth member.
While he is a skilled fighter, it's just that- skill. He has to use his technique to compensate for his weak offenses and defenses, though he is quite fast, and very hard to hit. Hermes can also use his species' stereotype as a "weak" Pokemon to more easily take out cocky opponents.
Personality: He's a hothead. It's easier to name all the days he was actually calm than when he was at least silently steaming. Hermes is hot-blooded, and tends to act before thinking. This reckless behavior has landed him in trouble before, much to nobody's surprise.
Hermes doesn't have any emotional scars to hide, as he's been more concerned about his "berserk button". He's very sensitive about his size, and will tend to overreact to comments saying he's small, ala Ed Elric.
History: Hermes was born as Hawk to a pair of Spearow in the Johto region, and obtained his surname of "Dwarfbird" due to his size and presumed growth disorder (he's only a bit larger than when he was hatched). He was abandoned by his parents when he was a year old, but Hawk adapted fast. He made other Pokemon on the route into his family, and grew especially close to a silver-white (probably albinistic) Magikarp that was a year older than him.
It was a pretty quiet life on the small route until he was six years old. He woke up, and found himself staring at the face of a small orange Gastly. Awakening with a startled scream, he concluded that the Gastly was still very young, and that he was lost. He decided to take the young ghost under his wing (figuratively), and it was once again a pretty quiet existence until he was eight. The Gastly's name? Hawk named his Pepsci, after the drink he had heard of once.
It had been a rainy night, and Hawk was simply out early, looking for a nice juicy worm or berry to eat, when he saw a bundle hidden under leaves. Clearing away the leaves, he found a young Vulpix, covered in dirt, who had seemingly cried herself to sleep. Worried, he nudged at her a bit. He was greeted to a loud shriek and a surprisingly powerful Ember attack that made him not dissimilar to a roasted chicken. He explained (while cleaning himself off) that he was simply checking on her, and invited her to join his little group of friends. She said her name was Violet, but said she was a boy.
Two years later, Hawk awoke to the yelps of Violet and Pepsci. He quickly found out that they had a severely wounded Chikorita a bit older than Violet, and Hawk flew off to find medical herbs in hard-to-reach places. Eventually, with the aid of the herbs and water splashed up by Flip, the Chikorita eventually woke up, and said his name was Leafslash. Leafslash figured that he owed them, and decided to stay with them to try and pay off those debts.
That lasted only one year. He was only eleven when he heard news of a gang of Pokemon lead by a Skarmory was passing through the area, and wouldn't take well to anyone who got in their way. While Hawk fled the area, he soon noticed Leafslash was missing. Violet left, and returned with a fainted and injured Leafslash. She said that the Skarmory had a wooden leg, and was stunned from an eye injury. Hawk decided that the best place would be somewhere else.
He led the small group to a park, where Leafslash finally woke up. Flip explained that their home was completely devastated, and that they had to run. This was the closest area that could support all of them, so it had to do. Leafslash decided they would be safer if they were closer, and thus, came the birth of Team Mythos.
Two years went by, and by now Flip had evolved into a Gyarados... meaning they had to find a larger place to support the newly-evolved sea serpent. Leaving under the cover of the night, they failed to notice a Scyther following them. They settled down near the Lake of Rage, more than big enough to support Flip. They thought they had seen enough for one lifetime.
But alas, that same Scyther just had to appear, wanting revenge for a prank Pepsci had pulled on her a while back. While she tried to fight the Gastly alone, the team, led by Leafslash, declared that if she wanted to hurt one of them, she'd have to hurt them all. She knew she was beat, and surrendered. Leafslash, to everybody's surprise, forgave her, and asked her to stay. This Scyther, named Carol, was equally surprised, but decided she had nothing better to do.
Hawk suddenly awoke to a Thunder attack crashing down, and to a shocked Leafslash. He explained that they had to run away, and to change their names for safety. Pepsci, now eight, was now Hades; Flip, now fifteen, became Poseidon; Hawk, now fourteen, was now Hermes; Carol refused to change her name because he had not been seen; and Leafslash became Apollo. Violet, who was ten at the time, changed her name to Aries.
After two years of running around, the team settled down in the Hoenn region, close to the sea. On this long journey, Apollo had evolved into a Bayleef, and Hades into a Haunter. Just as they were settled down and built a base, they noticed a Manectric appear before them, this one looking almost black and white, and quite muscular. Expecting another attack, they made a preemptive strike on him. After a series of "yeows", he eventually said he came in peace, and that he was named Zeus. He offered himself to the team. Apollo realized that this had to be the one that saved him from the Skarmory two years ago, and telling the team that he was a friend, accepted Zeus onto the team.
It was a cold winter night, when the team was bundled up together for warmth in their base, when there was a massive earthquake. The ground below them started to sink into portals, and one by one, all seven of them were swallowed up, and spit out onto the Dimensional Island.
Other: DO NOT CALL HIM SMALL OR PAIN HAPPENS.
Also, he has an evolution and growth disorder, preventing him from evolving into a Fearow, or at least becoming a larger Spearow.
The Island's auto-translate feature works on him.
Yes, I'm aware of the copy-pasting here.
