Full Name: Volcano (no other names)
Nicknames: Hothead, Fire Chicken, "the guy who has serious anger management issues", 1300
Age: 20
Height: 6'5''
Weight: 132 pounds
Gender: Male
Race: Blaziken (with some genetic modifications)
Alliance: Chaotic Neutral/Good
Home: Shimmer Islands (Laying island is Ruby Island) (actually the Hoenn region)
Franchise: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Physical Description: Volcano is a somewhat tall Blaziken, though it's not very noticeable, with some light muscle showing up on his arms. His coloring is different- where a normal one is red, he is a slightly dark brown shade of red, and where the usually sand-colored feathers are, he has a slight, silvery color. However, he is not a shiny, as his orange feathers have mantained their coloring. He has very dark gray eyes, and usually an indifferent look or smug satisfaction on his face. On his back are a series of scars, though they are more than likely from fights he got into.
Attached to his neck by means of a strong black leather collar is a small red orb of sorts. It is in fact a "Life Orb" that boosts the power of his attacks, but at the cost of some of his health with each successful strike. In addition, he also wears a pair of black gloves, with the finger part cut out for his claws. Under the collar is a number burned into the back of his neck long ago- 1300. However, nobody has ever seen it, since when it's removed he flips.
Weapons: Claws, limbs, you get the deal.
Abilities/Powers: His attacks;
*Hi Jump Kick: A very powerful kick thrown from a high altitude, if it misses, he takes damage.
*Thunderpunch: An electrified fist us used to attack.
*Flare Blitz: A very powerful, fire tackle that causes a third of the damage he caused to hit him back.
*Claw Sharpen: A boosting moves that involved sharpening the claws to increase physical power and accuracy.
*Blast Burn: An extremely powerful, all-consuming blast of fire that leaves him immobile for a few minutes after use.
*Fire Blast: A powerful burst of fire is launched to attack.
When Volcano is at low health, his attacks start swinging out harder, provided they are of the Fire-type (Flare Blitz, Blast Burn and Fire Blast in his case). This is usually accompanied by a fiery red aura coming from his body. This is how his "Blaze" ability manifests itself.
Skills: Volcano is at home on the field of battle, having been fighting since quite literally the day he could walk under his own power. This manifests itself with his superb, if not reckless abilities in a fight. He never shows strain, making him appear almost mechanical, a robot built for fighting.
As a result of his history, Volcano is a skilled thief. Whether it's picking somebody's pocket or mugging a crowd, he generally succeeds. So feared is this Pokemon, people tend to move to the side whenever he comes near.
The one thing Volcano CANNOT do to save his life is socialize. He is indifferent, and seemingly incapable of emotions. "Determinator" also sums up a skill well. He will stop at nothing to accomplish his goals, especially those that will lead him to remembering his foggy past.
Personality: In a word, "stoic". Volcano seems to have no emotions, and overall is very cold and robotic. People that don't know him often assume him to be a robot that was programmed to battle, and that suits him just fine.
Even if by some means you can find a way to crack his outer shell, don't expect a warm, friendly guy. Volcano is naturally cold, uncaring and distant. He is also hot-tempered, especially when you're particularly irritating to him.
The Blaziken also has a sadistic side. He considers the screams of his enemies in terror as music to his ears, and has been known to extend a fight just to have them scream more. Volcano's goal in life is to remember what he's forgotten, and will stop at nothing.
History: (Note that parts of Volcano's have been blacked out. If you are using the black "Dimensional Clash" skin, please leave them unhighlighted as I want to preserve the surprise. if you are using the white "Default" skin, please skip down until you reach the red indicator)
Volcano was hatched in a lab in the Hoenn region. Before you start getting any ideas about being born in a lab where he was expected to be chosen by a trainer and having a (presumably) good life, he was in fact, the offspring of a Team Magma scientist's male Mighyena and female Blaziken, and the first thing that happened to him was that his DNA samples were taken.
The DNA samples came back, and his parents' trainer was pleased at the results. He deemed the newly-hatched Pokemon as the first Pokemon to be experimented on, and the Torchic's first sensation in life was that of a hot iron on his neck. The number '1300' was permanently burned onto his neck, and he was to become Team Magma's first experiment in the 1300 department, experiments with evolution and enhancements.
The researchers in that department wasted no time with experimenting on him, forcing the DNA of several Pokemon into him, and exposed him to radiation. One researcher, an associate of his parents' trainer, had come up with a chemical that supposedly sped up the evolution process, and he was to become the test subject. He remembers the chemical being injected into one of his veins, at first burning, then freezing.
From the Torchic came a light, but it wasn't white like a normal evolution. Instead, the light was black, and the Torchic didn't evolve into a Combusken. It seemed as though the scientist was to be fired, when there was a loud cry from the black light. When the tainted light died down, there was no Torchic, and there was no Combusken...
Instead, where the Torchic stood was a Blaziken. However, it was abnormally colored, as while it was dark red and silver-white like a shiny one would, it retained the orange of a regular one around its legs. It had almost black eyes, and it looked powerful. The researcher received a promotion, and the Blaziken was given a name: Volcano. How old was he when all this happened? Two.
Volcano was given to a young member of the team, and was forced to train day and night, often receiving no nourishment. He was whipped for even the most minor of errors in an otherwise-flawless maneuver. His other Pokemon beat him down, but they never raped him. Then, the metaphorical dog bit back.
When he was eight, Volcano snapped. When his trainer's Houndoom bit his arm, he slugged him in the snout, but didn't stop there. The Blaziken gave a feral roar as he beat down the Houndoom, not even giving it a chance to fight back. When he was done, the demon dog Pokemon lay dead on the floor, with broken bones sticking out of its body, in a pool of its own blood. That was when his trainer, Josef Blair, walked into Volcano and the corpse of his Houndoom.
... And instead of beating the Blaziken, he gave a cruel, heartless laugh. He decided that Volcano would be the perfect killer, and applauded him. Volcano was to become a complete monster, like his trainer.
The first step was to establish brutality, and then to build up his power. Volcano was feed old meat and steroids, with an extra ingredient added in. After successfully tearing apart test dummies and burning them into naught but ash, he was to be tested in the field.
The field tests were successful. Volcano's roars were confirmed to have caused his opponent great uncertainy, before he suddenly ran at them. His claws had grown sharp, and his flames had become intensely hot. The end result against all test subjects were the same- slashed to death, and then burned into nothing.
Loyalty was the next step. Josef had a special collar made for Volcano, which served several purposes. One, it hid his number. Two, it allowed him to attach a Life Orb while not hindering the use of the Blaziken's arms. And three, it had two special injectors installed into it. One was a shock function, and the second was unknown. Whenever Volcano tried to snap out at Josef, the collar would give him a nasty shock, and before long he was the vicious monster that his bastard of a trainer wanted. He was now a complete monster... at only thirteen.
Volcano's history can be traced to many reports of a vicious, somewhat discolored and scarred Blaziken attacking anybody who opposed Team Magma, and if they were somehow brave enough to fight them, Josef would be called to duty... And Volcano would be all too happy to kill a trainer's beloved Pokemon in front of them.
At this time, more Pokemon were being modified in the 1300 department, clearly his experimentation had paved the way for more of Team Magma's cruel experiments. However, as Volcano managed to overhear, many of them failed to make it... but he did hear reports of one particular Pokemon that had survived, a Pikachu that had been given to a young Team Magma member named Brandon Hika, a subordinate of Josef. The Pikachu had been named Raikougai, or something along those lines.
Volcano and Josef were then assigned to start clearing a way to the Seafloor Cavern, to supposedly help awaken an ancient Pokemon that embodied the earth. Volcano's strength made him the ideal candidate for clearing open a path, even the mightiest rocks would be reduced to rubble before him. Taking a submarine down to the ocean depths, something went wrong.
On Josef's belt, Volcano's Poke Ball had a loose attachment. When he boarded the sub, the Blaziken's Poke Ball fell off, into the sea. It was swept away by the currents, and it wasn't until Josef had arrived in the site to be cleared that he realized his strongest Pokemon had gone missing.
For weeks, the modified Pokemon was adrift at sea, trapped within the confines of his Poke Ball. However, while he could not move, hear or even see, he was protected from the waters. Moved by the currents, Volcano was pushed far from the mainland, and into tropical waters.
Eventually, his Poke Ball washed up on the shores of an island, and weakened by the water it had been exposed to for quite some time, released Volcano. Upon release, Volcano tried to give a roar, but quickly felt a needle being driven into the back of his neck...
Instantly, he felt a strange stream of images in his mind... images that he was not used to. Old images were blocked out, and these new ones took their place. This was the secret function of the collar- to give him fake memories in case he somehow break free so that he wouldn't kill them.
(And now you may proceed)
Now seventeen, Volcano found himself attacking random cities along the main island of Jade Island, so that he could survive. He eventually made his way through the main jungle, and found the main city of the islands- nay, the center of the island chain! Sensing the score of a lifetime, Volcano jumped in to attack, but the city had a guardian.
A Croconaw with glasses one year older than he was stood between him and the city, and swore on his life that no bandit would be able to rob his peaceful village. The two were then engaged in a vicious fight, and in spite of the Croconaw, who was named Miles, having a type advantage, Volcano had the size and experience advantages, and slammed Miles through several walls. It seemed as though the so-called guardian had been killed by the bandit, but...
Before Volcano could raise a single claw to take a life, a large, scaled hand grabbed him by the wrists. He turned around, and felt whatever strength he had die off. It was in fact, Miles- the glasses were a sure sign-... except that he was now a Feraligatr. he used his newfound strength to deliver a powerful Aqua Tail to the Blaziken's gut. Volcano had to flee, it wasn't worth fighting Miles.
However, he stayed in the general area, and seemed to be stalking the Feraligatr, wanting his revenge. He climbed up the walls of Miles' mansion, wanting to sneak attack him in the night. he would have... had he not noticed a bedridden Croconaw. Listening into the conversation, he realized something; that was Miles' brother, who had suffered a fate at the hands of humans and had barely survived.
Volcano felt a bit of sympathy for the kid, and over the course of a few weeks, found out Miles' entire backstory... all the while supposedly remembering his own. He brought himself to Miles, but said he had come in peace, and realizing that he had walked onto a base of sorts, offered himself to the team. In spite of the jerrings of the rest of the team- a teal Flygon, a Lucario with more blue than usual, and a female Luxio- Miles knew that Volcano was powerful, and accepted him onto the team. In the two years that passed, Miles and Volcano eventually realized their feelings for each other, and admitted it, and were... quite astonished to find that the feeling was mutual between him.
However, all things must come to an end, as for Team SOS, the team Volcano had joined, it came in the form of a loud-mouthed Pikachu with a hat that challenged Miles to a battle, with the conditions that if he won, she'd join the team as a member... and if she won, she would take over as leader. A cocky Miles accepted the terms... and lost.
Volcano was powerless to watch as the team's reputation fell to ruins, the once-beloved team becoming the laughingstock of the rescue team world. Mheetu, Tua's older brother who had joined, did some stuff to prevent the team from falling into complete disarray, but that wasn't doing much.
It was on a mission with the rest of Team SOS, deep into the jungle, when he, along with the rest of the team, suddenly fell into a portal. He now lives in a cramped apartment in Void City with the rest of the team.
