Full Name: Koromaru
Nicknames: Koro-chan
Age: ?
Height: ?
Weight: ?
Gender: Male
Race: Shiba Inu (Dog for those unversed in dog breeds)
Alliance: Good
Home: Naganaki Shrine, Tatsumi Port Island, Japan
Franchise: Persona 3
Physical Description: Koromaru looks much like your average Shiba Inu, being vaguely wolf-like in appearance, though he is much smaller than a wolf (and even smaller than an Akita Inu, which is a similar but much larger breed) and his tail curls back against his back instead of hanging down like a wolf’s. His fur is grayish white, and his eyes are red. He has a scar on his stomach from when he was injured while fighting a Shadow. Since “joining” SEES, Koromaru wears a white dog shirt and a red SEES band around his left front leg. The shirt has two wings attached to it that appear to be for decorative purposes only. He also wears a rather distinct collar, which appears to be a large metal device with two large blue devices on either side of it. It’s actually an Evoker specially designed for Koromaru, since he can’t wield a normal one due to being a dog.
Weapons: Koromaru uses knives and kunai as weapons, choosing to wield them in his mouth. He does not use his claws in combat at all.
Abilities/Powers: Koromaru has the unique ability to summon the Persona Cerberus. His Cerberus differs from other Cerberuses Persona users have been able to use in the past in both appearance and abilities. It is capable of using Agi (fire) and Mudo (darkness) based skills.
Skills: Koromaru is rather skilled with using bladed weapons, despite the fact that he is a dog.
Personality: Koromaru is highly intelligent, possessing intelligence greater than most dogs. Despite the fact that he is a dog, he enjoys several human activities, mainly watching TV. He is fiercely loyal, and will follow whoever he chooses to consider as his “master” to the ends of the earth if he had to.
History: Koromaru was originally owned by a monk who maintained the Naganaki Shrine. One day while walking Koromaru, the monk was struck by a car, and was killed. The monk had no relatives, so there was no one to adopt Koromaru, and the dog became a stray. He continued walking the same path his late owner would take him for nearly six months. He became acquainted with the teenagers in the SEES dorm, but didn’t concern himself with them.
One night, the Shrine was attacked by a Shadow. Koromaru had always been able to be awake during the Dark Hour, but he had never been in a situation that required summoning his Persona. He realized his Potential while fighting the Shadow that had invaded the Shrine, and killed the Shadow using his Persona. He was badly injured during the fight, and had it not been for Akihiko Sanada finding him, it was possible Koromaru might have died.
Koromaru was treated by Kirijo Group veterinarians, and while he was in treatment, the Kirijo Group began developing an Evoker for dogs. By the time he was fully healed, the Evoker was complete, and Koromaru was inducted into SEES. He was able to communicate with the group through the robot girl Aigis, who could understand Koromaru.
Koromaru aided SEES during their fights with the Arcana Shadows, and after Ikutsuki betrayed them and tried to use SEES as a sacrifice to summon Nyx, Koromaru was the only member overlooked. This ended up being Ikutsuki’s undoing, as Koromaru rushed to the top of the observatory where the SEES members had been taken and took the remote Ikutsuki was using to control Aigis with from him.
The day of the Fall eventually came, and Koromaru travelled to the top of Tartarus with the rest of SEES. There, he aided their fight against Nyx, but ultimately could not do anything. It only took the sacrifice of their leader, Minato Arisato, for Nyx to be stopped.
Like Minato and Aigis, Koromaru didn’t forget. In fact, he was well aware of the fact that Minato’s life was slipping away from him with every passing day. It did not surprise Koromaru when Minato did not come back to the dorm one day that spring.
It was decided that Koromaru would be adopted by Mitsuru Kirijo when SEES was finally disbanded. On the day that SEES was to be disbanded, Koromaru was still staying in the dorm, and thus was trapped in the dorm when the Abyss of Time formed underneath it. When SEES found a key that would allow them to revisit the moment when Minato died, Koromaru chose to stay with Junpei. Ultimately, Aigis’ team won out, and they traveled to that moment to see Minato seal Nyx away… and lose his life in the process. Through that door, they encountered the manifestation of humanity’s despair, Erebus, and managed to temporarily drive it back. The Abyss of Time disappeared from underneath their dorm, and time began to pass once more.
However, SEES was still disbanded, and Aigis and Koromaru both went to live with the Kirijo family. Aigis continued to take Koromaru on walks, and she still conversed with him at length.
One day while on a walk, Koromaru saw a blue butterfly float past. Upon seeing this, he simply turned to Aigis and said that he had to go somewhere, and then ran after the butterfly. He didn’t come back to Aigis, and she eventually returned home and told Mitsuru that Koromaru wouldn’t be coming back. In fact, the dog had followed the butterfly to a completely different dimension.
