Physical Description
Manako is an unassuming Japanese woman with dark brown bordering on black eyes and black hair. Her medium end of long hair is cuti n what is known as a "hime cut", of the variety that has the bangs coming to her chin and the rest of the hair pulled back behind her head. it reaches the middle of her back. She uses a bit of makeup so she has well formed eyebrows and noticably red lips.
She tends to dress in a rather business-like manner. While it was not always her preferred method of dress, it is now. She can usually be seen in some sort of business skirt outfit, although out of the office she favors more of a business casual style. She wears flat shoes because she has to move around a lot on her job, finding heels uncomfortable even when she isn't.
Around her left ring finger is a plain gold band, a wedding ring.
Weapons
She carries a thing of pepper spray in her purse, which she generally has on her.

Skills
Manako is extremely skilled at research and even more skilled at confidentiality. She is good at filing and has an accurate typing speed of about one hundred words per minute. Making errors is unheard for her. She tends to be very good at conversing with people and has a decent eye for when a situation is getting out of hand. She's very good at anything relating to her secretarial duties.
Personality
Most see Manako's business face. Calm, no nonsense, and very polite. If you manage to do something that she feels would annoy her superiors, her politeness tends to become very curt without being any less polite. She is stuidious and a hard worker and very focused at any task at hand.
She's not quite as proper as she seems and does indeed have a mind of her own, a very sharp one. She's good at weighing situations as a result. She also tends to be shy and resistant to making aquainances not related to business.
History
Manako is from some Japan or another, raised to fit within cultural norms but still have a mind of her own. She went into a very good college from high school where she met her future husband. She graduated with a degree in secretarial work and she and her husband both worked, giving them a very nice mansion apartment in the business section of Tokyo. They were together when they ended up on Dimension Island, and as a result were brought together. After the initial shock period, they managed to settle down. Their specific Japan was not linked to via the ITS.
About two years after their arrival, or three years ago, Manako's husband was killed. The police didn't want to accept that it was anything but a suicide, so she used her money to get a lawyer. Said lawyer was named Kousei Hikaru, and had quite the reputation for solving cases... and Manako was too distraught to do the proper research to find his other reputation.
Kousei was able to not only prove her husband's death a murder, but bring down an entire small gang as a result of his actions. It was actually quite the accomplishment and the newspapers took special note of it. What they didn't take special note of was that the gang had merely been redirected into others and that Kousei's connections meant Manako's life was in danger as a result. Kousei used these connections to get her as his secretary for his firm and has been using the blackmail and threats to keep her very loyal.
It wasn't long before he had made it clear that if he had to, she would take his fall. However, she is damn good at her job and as such Kousei seems to have limited it to a last resort. She has no delusions about how expendable she could really be, and as such does her best to work the same way Kousei does in regards to keeping things secret and safe.
