Full Name: Shinobu Kurosumi (黒死乃生)
Nickname: Shin (しん)
Apparent Age: ~17
Actual Age: ~100
Height: 183 cm/6'
Weight: 58 kg/128 lbs
Gender: Male
Race: Half Demon/Human
Alliance: Neutral (moderate lean to Evil)
Home: Bazaroth
Franchise: Big Eyes, Small Mouth (BESM) 3rd Edition OC
Physical Description (Human/Main Form)
Shin is tall and extremely lithe, but despite being almost sickeningly skinny has quite the air of intimidation, which could be overpowering to those easily scared. He seems Caucasian, but his skin is quite ashen. His hair is a bit stringy due to apparent genetics, and his bangs hang in front of his eyes just enough to possibly make onewonder howhe sees. It is of medium length and the rounded cut of the bottom falls just past the base of his neck. It is dark red in color.
He prefers to keep his eyes behind things that would obscure them, such as dark sunglasses, due to their rather unhuman nature. It is one of the two aspects of his demonic heritage he never learned how to hide. The only part of them that aren't inky black are what would be the white in human eyes. Those are dark grey.
His ears are unique due to his heritage as well, as they taper to a point. They share some strong similarity to the ears of a pure Vulcan from Star Trek, but the tips are a bit pointier. To conceal these, Shin usually wears a hood. While his canine teeth are accented, they are on the outer edge of normal for humans and thus don't need to be concealed.
Shin doesn't have much in the way of clothing preference, although a few things he tries to always wear. These are some method of concealing his eyes and ears, usually in the form of sunglasses and a hood of some sort. He is usually seen in clothes that make him an "unperson", the type that most people would never notice or remember, so flashy is fairly out of the question. When it comes to shoes, he likes anything that are easy to run in, so tennis shoes are most common.
Physical Description (Demon/True Form)
Shin has a noticable amount of muscular development in this form, and it makes it appear he works out. While it doesn't come close to the development of a body builder, one would not be missing it. Compared to his human form, his intimidating presence is through the roof. Whether this is a power or an aspect of his demonic appearance is unclear. His skin is the dark grey of compacted ash.
His ears are longer, but not quite as exaggerated as anime or Warcraft elf ears. They are very narrow and taper to a point that seems almost sharp, sloping at a slight upward angle. His eyes seem to be cruel despite any efforts otherwise. At best he generally manages unamused and dark. They are straight inky black, and are pointed on both sides more than would be normal than a human (somewhat Asian, but the epithantic folds area are also parts of his eyes). They can and will catch fire if Shin gets extremely pissed.
Shin's hair in this form is long, and hangs to about halfway down his upper thighs. It is rather smooth and falls well into a hairstyle one might expect a bishounen to have. His bangs are flared a bit to the left, causing the lowest part to fall just above his narrow eyebrows. His hair is the deep crimson red of drying blood.
He has two large draconic wings extending from his back. The main part that his bones go through are the same dark ash grey as his skin. The three membranes, however, are pale grey. Coming up from his head are two small bone-white goat horns, further adding to his somewhat standard demonic appearance. If he were to take this from while wearing a shirt, the wings would shred them, and his musculature puts a strain on his other clothes. Most of his body is covered in slight draconic scaling that lends to a defensive factor.
Weapons (Both Forms)
Shin doesn't keep any weapons on hand.
Abilities/Powers (Both Forms)
Shin can manipulate various forms of darkness, such as shadows, for a range of about 10 metres around himself. This is often used to play tricks on the opponent or make it harder for them to see in order to grant himself an advantage. He can also draw power from the evil energy in an area, be it violent thoughts or defiled ground. This makes it unwise to fight him in an area known to be cursed. While it doesn't increase his power level per se, it does make him harder to knock down.
It is nearly impossible to truly kill Shin due to his heritage. If he were to die, his body would burst into flame and disintegrate itself. It seems nothing can put it out, either, as is often seen in cases of spontaneous combustion. He will reawaken in a random location flooded with evil energy a month later. He would remain gone longer if a seal were used, but to keep him truly dead would require a powerful occult ritual.
Shin has a sort of sixth sense about motivations. While he can't tell if a person is lying, he can tell if they are doing something for the reason they are putting forth. He knows if a person is helping him out of true kindness or manipulation, for example, and it effects who he is willing to risk trusting.
It is extremely dangerous in a fight with him to injure him too much. If he gets close to death (or at least incineration), he flies into a berserker rage - He will take his demon form in this if he is currently in his human form. He loses all control of himself in this mode, but it greatly increases all his abilities. He will kill everyone in the area if every possible thing he deems a threat isn't removed from the area. And he will chase you if you attempt to flee. He passes out once he comes out of it no matter what the reason, however.
Abilities/Powers (Demon Form Only)
With access to his full powers, something he only has in his true form, he is able to use his signature attack, "Herald of the Apocalypse". This attack falls under a paranormal (as opposed to magical) ability in regards to resistances and weaknesses, and is unholy in nature. Its quite strong, but it takes a large amount of energy to cast.
Shin draws an inverted pentagram in the air, finishing it from the first/last/bottom point with a circle around the entire symbol. It is possible to draw it while moving, it will simply take effect from the location he finishes it. The pentagram lights ablaze with what looks like burning blood before raining down shards of what appears to be blazing blood upon the enemy.
Anywhere from four to thirty-six of shards will rain down, although themore that fall the smaller they are. They are actually quite solid, more like crystallized blood set aflame than anything else. They cut like blades. They leave fairly jagged cuts and any wounds they inflict feel as if it is on fire, but no physical damage will be done from the pain itself. This burning effect remains until the pentagram vanishes and the attack ends, but the cuts they inflict will remain.
It requires far too much energy for Shin to usually use more than once in a fight. He is able to use it up to four times in an area with a lot of evil energy. However, this drains so much energy his abilities pretty much drop to those of a normal human athlete, putting him at severe disadvantage.
Abilities/Powers (Human Form Only)
This isn't a power, but no better area on the template exists to put it. If Shin gets moderately to severely stressed, he will unwillingly change to his demonic form. Due to his claustrophobia, it wouldnot be unlikely for him to suddenly shift in a crowded elevator.
Skills (Both Forms)
Shin is amazing in a fight, and is extremely skilled at picking out the weaknesses of his foes. He can use pretty much any well known weapon with enough skills to call him in the low areas of advanced, at the least. He is skilled at hand to hand and long distance techniques in addition to his weaponry skills. As much as an advantage as a disadvantage, he rarely passes up the opening for an attack. Interestingly, he is extremely good at blindfighting, able to hit opponent's he can't even see with decent accuracy.
He is able to read his opponent's movements and predict their next actions with eerie accuracy. He tends to guess based on their body language, and will seem to almost predict moves, able to aim at where a fast opponent is headed rather than where they are actually at to make an attack connect. He is also able to dodge with this same skill, and often gets accused of psychically predicting them. Because he reads opponent's so well, he rarely fights when outclassed unless he has to in order to survive.
His defensive abilities, however, are farily abyssmal. He is hard to get hit, but he's more or less got a glass body... except he's so damn stubborn the fool doesn't know when to stop. You'll do a fair amount of damage if you hit him, but... he can take a lot of hits. This odd combination of traits manage to balance in a way that makes him only slightly tougher than usual on a defensive standpoint.
He is able to fight with a single one handed weapon ineach hand on two different groups of opponents if the situation arises. This puts him at far less of a disadvantage than you think it would, as well, but its enough he avoids it when he can. He is almost blurringly fast, and as such he is hard to hit in a fight, but not impossible. Due to his speed and things such as physics, he can jump from wall to wall. He can use this ability to scale things if the things in question are close enough.
The construct of Shin's eyes allow him to see as well as you and I on a clear day in the darkest of locations. This has pretty much no limitation. You could stick him one hundred feet underground with no source of light and he'd see as well as he can on the surface in unhindered sunlight, including colors.
Shin is well versed in just about any real world known form of the occult, be they negative or positive. Due to this knowledge he can use most of them (although difficulties arise with more holy varieties for obvious reasons) and is impeccable at following the "rules" of such rituals. He knows the properway to summon demons, cast curses, tell fortunes, etc.
Skills (Demon Form Only)
His wings in his true form aren't there to look pretty. He can and will use them to fly, but he has a rather large wingspan. This prevents effective flight (if not all flight) in more closed quarters. He can't send them away in this form, but he is able to fold them forward and hook them in a cape like fashion much like Goliath from Disney's Gargoyles.
Shin can cause people to work harder and perform better by sheer factor of scaring the shit out of them. Unfortunately, this means the ability is no good against people not scared of demons or who don't believe his threats. Furthermore, Shin isn't really fond of running around scaring people, wanting to live as normal of a human life as feasibly possible.
Personality
Shin has a somewhat strong dark aura. He values personal freedom and gets rather adamant about fighting for it. However, his own freedom comes before that of anyone elses. He doesn't believe in slavery as it conflicts with freedom, but... if enslaving half the damn world is the only way he can be free, he'll do it in a heartbeat. He desperately values the freedoms ofman, to fight who and do what he wants. As a result, he's got some mild anarchic tendencies. If he gets it into his head the only way he can be truly free is to plunge the world into anarchy, he'll do it.
That being said, he does value the freedom of others when it isn't interfering with his own. He'll rip into slave owners and similar people as long as it doesn't interfere with his own "rights". He does have an internal conflict between his human wish for freedom and his demonic desire to enslave, but he keeps it stuffed inside and under control on most days, with his humanity winning out.
As a side note, he's rather claustrophobic. Even a standard building makes him nervous. If you were to stick him someplace really small, like an outhouse, he'll probably take his true demon form based on the stress buildup.
History
Shin doesn't know much about his birth, but over the years he's pieced together the rough story. His human mother made a deal with the demons of Bazaroth, a demonic realm connected to one Earth or another. It was to save someone she deeply cared about. The angel-like Asrai of the angelic realmof Aradia learned of the situation and attempted to save her... they failed. She was spirited away as per the deal and placed into a breeding process with the demons.
The birthing process was painful, as Shin was born with his true form. To put it simply, the poor woman was torn in half, thus making Shin her only child. He never knew his father. From the day he was born, Shin was forced to undergo harsh military training and a far harsher social structure.
Shin was part of a group of half-breed children created by the demons of Bazaroth to lead the Apocalypse onto Earth. For some reason or another, his half-human nature managed to over-ride his demonic nurture. Shin despised the life he was forced to live. He wanted the freedom to live as he wanted to as humans could. This resulted in a fair amount of slacking off and balking in his training, which lead to difficulties with things such as mastering his human form.
However, he knew the training had some advantages. He let it occur so he could keep a close eye on opportunities, and so he could grow stronger to take advantage of them when they occurred. When a good one finally presented itself, he rose up against his teachers and classmates, killing dozens as hemade his get away. He fled to the Shadowlands, the area of his world that seperated the icy and fiery hells. They caught up with him and managed to push him into a berserker rage. His wish to be safe, free, and anywhere but here managed to open a special portal that brought him to Dimension Island.
Other
This is a revamp of Yamiyo "Yami" Hankou consisting mainly of a real name so he has an actual Japanese name. His name was picked based on possible kanji readings, but has no real direct translation. His last name has the kanji that can be read as "black" and his first name contains three kanji that can refer to life/vitality, an alternate way to present a possessive particle, and one that means death. His name is meant to imply "Black Vitality of Death", but it doesn't directly mean this in any fashion.
I have no pictures of him.
