Age: ~1 Month
Height: Tiny (Average Stuffed Animal)
Weight: Light
Gender: Neutral (Referred to as Male)
Race: Spirit Beast

Physical Description
Puu appears to be a highly stylized stuffed blue penguin with long floppy ears resembling a dog or a rabbit. They usually hang at his sides, being taller than his whole body is. He has a tuft of black hair on his head that makes it look like a furry pompom is up there. He has little in the way of markings - merely a light blue egg shaped "stomach" on the front. His eyes are straight white with black circles serving as pupils.

Abilities/Powers
Puu can do some limited flying by flapping his ears really fast. He can't do so for long periods of time or distances, however. He is also a representation of Yuusuke's true self, his soul, so he serves as a mirror to whatever Yuusuke is thinking or feeling. He doesn't conceal his emotions in the same manner Yuusuke does, so a look at him can sometimes tell what Yuusuke is trying to hide.
He also happens to be a very good spirit receptor. His being isn't that of one world as Yuusuke's is, and he is a being of the Reikai/Spirit World first and foremost, so anyone residing on it can use Puu to communicate if they know the proper channels to access. Those that can communicate with him are also able to control him to some extent - this is actually limited by what Yuusuke knows to be best, even if he's not admitting it to himself. Only people Yuusuke trusts can use Puu in this manner.
Due to his link to Yuusuke, Puu can only live if Yuusuke does. If Yuusuke gets severely injured, Puu will find it hard to move. An unconscious Yuusuke makes it very difficult for Puu to move at all - he can in fact only do so due to Yuusuke's own willpower and stubborness.
Skills
Posing as a stuffed animal.
Personality
Puu's personality is not readily apparent, because he appears to simply be a cute mascot figure. However, he's got one that appears to be all of Yuusuke's best qualites raised to the surface. He's extremely kind and very determined, he will do whatever it takes for his friends and Yuusuke, his other self. He'll always try to make his/Yuusuke's friends feel better. He'll never give up either.
History
Puu's history actuall begins as a golden egg of the Reikai, one with the potential to hatch into an angel or demon based on the soul it fed upon. When Yuusuke Urameshi was killed, he was granted a test for revival based on the odd circumstances of his death and the unexpected nature of it in the Reikai. Yuusuke was told to take the egg and guard it as it fed on his soul to grow. The hatching of the egg was delayed when Yuusuke granted Prince Koenma of the Reikai permission to release the egg's stored virtue to help save Keiko's life.
During the Dark Tournament, however, the egg finally hatched. Out of it came the adorable Puu. Puu spend much time hanging on his other self's head. When he was not doing this, he spent time with the person Yuusuke had the most feelings for, Keiko.
When Genkai gave Yuusuke the "gift" of her powers to prepare him for the final matches of the Dark Tournament, Puu was there to help his other self recover. Yuusuke's weakness meant Puu was weak as well, but the risk this weakness put on Puu was enough to help Yuusuke to fight past the pain. Puu would later provide instrumental to Yuusuke's victory as Genkai channeled her spirit through him to knock some sense into Yuusuke and tilt the battle to his favor.
After the Black Tournament, Puu went home with Yuusuke. He spends most of his time with Keiko or Yuusuke's mother, and helps function as a sort of gauge for how Yuusuke is doing, no matter how far away he is. He would eventually end up in on Dimensional Island due to a series of events surrounding Yuusuke and a much larger plot...
Other
Puu is in his original form rather than his "phoenix" form fans of the franchise should know because of when he is taken from canon. It's after the Dark Tournament Arc but before the Black Chapter arc. He is based upon manga canon, but I've included an anime image of his as the designs match.
Puu can only say his name.
