K1 didn't speak the whole walk back to the hotel. There was something wrong with those God Cards. Perhaps they just scared him. Or, rather, it was the fact that this island had the strange ability to make those cards literally come to life, meaning that if they were literally gods, if he made Atem mad, it was entirely possible he could go insane and try to kill him with a god of some sort. It wasn't like it hadn't happened before to K1. Keisuke and Kaido would probably be the best examples in this case.
Before walking into the hotel, K1 noticed someone vaguely familiar inside, but he couldn't get a good look at them before walking on inside, when they turned their head to look at him.
"KEIICHI-KUN!"
The girl wearing a cosplay outfit quite simply ended up glomping K1, knocking him to the ground.
"Ow! Get off of me, Midori!"

Atem could see K1 was trying to process something, and it didn't take one with his level of picking up on details to know what he was thinking about. He actually supported the other teen's worry. It would prevent him from doing something stupid like trying to use the cards himself. The gods had a tendency to react poorly when someone other than the Pharoah summoned them.
And if K1 were to bring up the issue of the cards being "real", it would create a conversation all on its own. Even in his homeworld, where the cards were passed off as holograms, they were indeed real. Yuugi and his grandfather had gotten some of that, with their "heart of the cards" speeches. But at the end of the day, most of the cards really were holograms, at least as they existed in the modern world. But not the God Cards... they very much had their own will and would quite literally smite those that they did not consider worthy of their use.
When K1 hesitated at the edge of the hotel, Atem switched places with Yuugi. He could resurface if K1 wanted to talk about the cards, but that didn't seem like an issue that would come up any time soon. Yuugi walked in just in time to see "Keiichi-kun" getting painfully tackled.
"K1-kun, are you alright!?" the teen looked towards Midori, "Uh, do you know each other?"
The voice indicated to K1 who was dominant. Yuugi was probably lucky he was the star of a shounen anime. It would at least partially protect him from a shoujo otaku... although probably not completely.

K1 looked up at Yuugi. "Unfortunately, yes."
Upon seeing Yuugi, Midori got off of K1, and stared at him, looking him up and down. Unfortunately for Yuugi, Midori was not just a shoujo manga fan.
"Oh. My. Gawd. You're Yuugi, aren't you! Yeah, yeah, you've got the puzzle and your hair doesn't look like a wig! You're the real thing! Holy cow!" Midori said excitedly. "I used to watch your show when there weren't any better anime on!"
She started thinking about that. "Wait... does that mean I'm a Magical Girl... in Domino City? COOL!"
K1 pulled himself to his feet and sighed. "Yuugi, this is Midori. She's a friend, I guess you could say."

Atem and Yuugi had a rare moment of sharing the same expression. They were both sweatdropping as Midori geeked out.
"A-actually, this is Dimension Island..." Midori's enthusiasm had intimidated Yuugi.
"Looks like we have another one that knows the full story..." Atem said.
"I'm not sure, the other me. Remember, Minato had thought you were gone," Yuugi mentally told his other self, although it looked like a brief moment of hesitation to the outside world.
"You have a point. And despite her thinking she is a magical girl, she doesn't seem able to sense the magic coming from the Millenium Puzzle. I suggest we keep my presence to ourselves while we can."
"Uh, I guess you know this already, but I'm Mutou Yuugi," Yuugi bowed politely, "May I call you Midori-san?"
From what K1 had said, Midori was her first name. Which was why he was asking permission to call her that rather than just doing so. He was known for being polite to a fault, after all.
And if Midori was truly the otaku she seemed to be, she might find it odd that Yuugi was sixteen, as the last age presented for him in the anime was that of a taller adult in Yuugiou: GX. Of course, it could be passed off as a time travel twist, just like had occured in the spin off by the same name.

Midori giggled a little bit. "Don't call me -san. Call me Midori-chan if you have to use an honorific."
K1 looked at Midori. "Do you have a hotel room yet?" She held up a small key like the one K1 had. "Okay, good. Come on, let's go get something to eat then." He believed that the hotel served dinner. It should, since it had a breakfast bar.
Truth was, he just wanted Midori to shut up.
---------
Upon reaching the dining area, K1 looked over at the empty tables. "I'll go find us somewhere to sit. You guys go on ahead."

"Okay then. Midori-chan."
Yuugi watched as K1 wandered off. While Midori was a bit forward, it actually didn't bother him all that much. Rebecca had been pretty much the same way. Not an "otaku" per se, but rather in your face. Yuugi just hoped Midori didn't decide that Yuugi was her boyfriend. Yuugi found himself blushing as he thought of that, and coughed to try and clear up the blush.
"Ah... so how old are you? I'm sixteen," it was all he could think of to say at this point. The whole situation was rather uncomfortable.
And the revelation of his age created yet another conflict with GX canon. Atem was remaining quiet, preferring to observe the situation rather than act. But he had to admit that Midori's enthusiasm rather reminded him of Rebecca as well. Yuugi seemed to be waiting for Midori to sit before he took a seat.

((That was an honorific screw up on my part. D: Whoops. This is why I should never be let around the Japanese language. EVER.
EDIT: Honorifics fixed! Now let's never ever ever do that again.))
"16? Um... are you GX you or are you Duel Monsters you then? 'Cause wasn't GX like, twenty years in the future or something?" she asked. "Oh, I'm 15. So, I guess that makes you the same age as K1. You sure don't look it, though."
She looked across the room. "It looks like K1 found a table. I'm gonna go get some food."
After a few minutes, she wandered over to K1's table with a full plate of food. "Well, let's eat then!" Midori said, and started eating her burger. K1 had no comment. He supposed anything was better than what they'd had to eat in the lockdown, even if it was a giant greasy mess.

Yuugi stared blankly as Midori all but skipped off to get food. He had no idea what she was talking about. He knew what Duel Monsters were, of course, but she seemed to be using the term differently. He went to the other side of the area to get food, ending up with a salad and soda. He walked over to the table with K1, arriving the same time as Midori.
"Excuse me, Midori-chan, but what's GX?"
"If she knows you from an anime, its likely a future season..."
"I guess... its weird being thought of as an animation or manga character, though..." Yuugi thought to his other self as he waited for Midori's response.

Midori swallowed a large piece of food and smiled. "It's the sequal to Yuugioh: Duel Monsters and it takes place in the future where they've even got entire academies devoted to playing Duel Monsters. I didn't like it much, but I watched a few episodes when I got the chance to."
She looked between K1 and Yuugi, and being a doujinshi loving otaku as well, suddenly got a horrible crossover doujinshi idea. "You know what would be awesome? If you two were in a yaoi manga together. You already look the part!"
K1 did a spit take. "Excuse me?!"
She thought about it for a second. "No, wait. That wouldn't work. You'd both be the uke. It'd never work out. Though maybe the other Yuugi could be the seme..."
K1 did a double facepalm, because one facepalm was not enough for this situation.
((OOC: By the way, Midori doesn't share my sentiments on GX. I liked it, personally, even with the ridiculous premise and my only experiences with it being through the dub. I'm still iffy on 5D's, though. I haven't watched enough of it to be able to tell.))

(OOC: XDDD Oh lord, that is priceless. And excellent job on staying in canon with referring to Atem. He's called "Mou hitori no Yuugi" by most of the characters, which translates to "The other Yuugi". XD)
Yuugi turned red. We're talking the glowing red only seen in a handful of anime, and during situations as awkward as this. Yuugi tried to talk, but it didn't work well.
"W-w-wh....?" He suddenly found himself trying to focus on anything but what had just been said. This meant he was staring at his salad like he was trying to set it on fire with the heat he felt rising off his cheeks.
Atem was stricken speechless as well. That girl had not just suggested that. But Yuugi's reaction made it quite clear she had. In a rather uncharacteristic move for Atem, he found himself blushing a bit as well. It was a good thing only Yuugi could see him. He turned and coughed. Yuugi continued to stare at his salad, his ability to speak seemingly shot.
Of course, with how fangirls are known to misinterpert situations, it was likely Midori would see this as evidence to support her crazy frame of thought. Once again, it was a very good thing she couldn't see Atem, as he had his back turned and was putting extra effort into not paying attention to the situation.

Midori looked very surprised. "Wait, I was right?! You guys are in a relationship together?! Wow, K1, why didn't you tell me!?"
K1 glared at Midori. "W-We're not!"
"What? You're kidding." She tapped a finger up against the side of her head as she thought to herself. "Oh, then are you in love with Naoya?"
It had been a bad idea for K1 to try taking a drink then, because he had another spit take. "NO!"
"But you're always talking about him! And you'd be the perfect yaoi couple, too. Two men crossing gender and familial boundries and fall in love with each other. So what if you're cousins!" Midori said, staring wistfully off into space at the the thought.
"My cousin is in love with his programming and his revenge quest more than he is in love with either sex!" K1 said, though his face was as red as Yuugi's now. "And besides, he's too much of a jerk to think about love."
"You're blushing too now! OMG," Midori said. "This is great! I should write this down!"

"Wait, what!? N-n-no! I-I-I like someone else!"
Yuugi was thinking of Anzu, of course. But as another thought occured to him, he pulled the impossible by turning redder. Steam was all but coming out of his ears from the embarassment. And it hadn't even occured to him that his statement would cause anyone that knew Yuugiou to come up with the two figures in his mind. Of course, things could get worse and Midori could go down any number of possible routes. Fans seemed to like to ship Yuugi with any number of other cast members aside from the two acknowledged by the "creator" of the manga.
Atem's face was getting redder as Midori continued to speak. Yuugi was too busy "trying to set his salad on fire" to even attempt further comments. Atem would have loved to get out of the situation...
(OOC: The "love triangle" acknowledged by Kazuki Takahashi consists of the "two Yuugis" and Anzu. So yes, Anzu is who Yuugi is trying to think of, Atem is who he's trying NOT to think of. XDD
But the other popular routes Midori could go down consist of: Jounouchi, Seto Kaiba, Bakura, and Yami Bakura. Jounouchi, Seto, and Yami Bakura all fitting rather nicely into the "ukexseme" type thing. XD - Although most people seem to prefer Yami BakuraxBakura for that route. Atem and Seto are also often shipped despite both being "seme".)

Midori refocused her attention on Yuugi. "You like someone else?! Come on, spill the beans! Is it Jounouchi? Ryuji Otogi? Seto Kaiba? Even... the other Bakura?"
Of course, all of the characters she named off were male. She wouldn't be a Yaoi fangirl if she had suggested a female character for the pairing.
K1 sighed. "Then by your logic, you should be in love with Yuzu, Midori."
"What! No!" Midori said, looking insulted. "I already found my true love!"
"Who is it, Keisuke?" K1 asked. He looked up at Midori, and suddenly realized he'd said the wrong thing. She was on the verge of tears. "Oh god, I'm sorry Midori, I didn't mean it--"
She ran off from the table, leaving her food where it was.

Yuugi didn't have the chance to respond before Midori had jumped up and ran off in tears. Not that he could have. Each of the names she had spouted off had made him feel more awkward. He would have been too embarassed to say Anzu's name, anyhow.
Of course, the "moment", as it were, had been killed. His embarassment was now replaced with worry, "Um... I don't mean to pry, but what just happened? Who's Keisuke? I mean, if you can tell me..." he added the last line upon seeing the pain and regret in K1's face, "...you don't have to..."
Atem was still a little flushed when he turned back towards the conversation. Things had certainly switched around quickly. He waited silently for whatever K1's response would be.

K1 took a few seconds to react to Yuugi's comment. "Huh? Oh..."
Looked back at where Midori had run off to. "Keisuke was another person who got trapped in the lockdown. He was my friend Atsuro's friend back in middle school, but he apparently changed a lot during their time apart. Anyways, he joined up with us for a short time because after Midori got a COMP, her Death Clock went down drastically. She had been trying to save people using demons, but they took things the completely wrong way and thought she was the one summoning the demons after all."
He stopped for a moment, to collect his thoughts. "On the fourth day of the lockdown, the Laplace Mail revealed that Midori was going to be killed by a bunch of humans. When Keisuke found that out, he snapped. He ended up summoning Yama, the god of Death and Judgement, and went around with him, using the demon to try to kill anyone who he deemed unjust. And with tensions high due to the lockdown, he ended up killing a lot of people, including this boy named Kaido's gang members. So, Kaido wanted revenge.
"Kaido had been able to summon a powerful demon too, a demon called Pazuzu. So, the two of them finally ended up meeting around... I think it was Tokyo Tower. They fought for a while, but Keisuke lost, and Pazuzu... set fire to him and then just tossed his burnt body to the side."
"The worst part was, we knew it was going to happen, because the Laplace Mail that day said it was going to happen. We tried to get Keisuke to stop but we couldn't defeat Yama, so we were hoping to get to Tokyo Tower and save him then. That... didn't go too well."
The comparisons to what happened at the hospital that day were not lost on K1.
"Midori took it the worst, because if it hadn't been for her, Keisuke would have never gotten into this mess. She acts all happy and stuff, but I get the feeling a lot of the time that she never really forgave me for what happened to Keisuke. I don't blame her, but still..." He pressed his palm against his face. "I'm an idiot."
