Uhh... Wow...

While bouncing around the Escapist forums, I found this little (and I mean LITTLE) story that shocked and horrified me. Well, maybe it's because I'm a diehard rock/metal fan, BUT THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT!

This is really the opposite of the topic, but I need to tell this story. I was at the Jersey Shore with two of my friends who play guitar and decided to play for an hour or two on the boardwalk. We set up our amps and we were playing live on the board walk. When we finish I Wanna Be Sedated an ~9-11 year old kid runs up to us and says "How do you play Guitar Hero without a Playstation?"

Quite honestly that kid needs to get out more often.

How the hell does he believe that a plastic guitar makes the same sound that a real guitar makes? Or better yet. How does he believe that all rock musicians are just playing Guitar Hero on stage?

Kinda reminds me of that South Park episode, but I know they were joking. Still, I was bummed when the dad busted out his guitar and actually played the song for real, and the kids were all "real guitars are fer old people."
A real guitarist told me he can't play Guitar Hero becasue it's not even remotely close to the real thing. He got confused.

Which is true. There are only five buttons on a Guitar Hero controller (Ten if you count the new slider guitar). A guitar in standard tuning has usually twenty-five notes per string with some overlap between each string. That's a HUGE range.

Some people say that if you play real guitar, you're better at Guitar Hero. That ain't true in the slightest.

And real guitars are not for old people! I play and I'm only 18!

I WISH I could play... I got an acoustic for Christmas one year, plus lessons promised by a family friend. Never got those lessons though. Bummed me out.
