The Past...

(OOC: This thread is mainly for Warryn and me, but I'm not gonna chase away gate crashers. XD)

Magus had been walking for hours. He had to give Fluffy this much. For its size its had the fair amount of stamina. He had made his way out of the colder areas of the island and was walking along the edge of the dropoff. The void out there looked so much like staring into a time gate.

He stopped suddenly and turned to Fluffy, "Okay, I have to ask. Why are you following me?"

Fluffy jumped into a near by tree before answering Magus. He was chewing in what was left of an apple, he tucked the core back into his fur after he was done with it.

"You look gloomy. Gloomy people bug me, even when there not around." Fluffy took out another apple out of his fur and taking a bite out of it.

"Mostly its because I don't know why the people are gloomy. So your bugging me. Why are you so gloomy looking?"

Magus didn't answer immediately. He didn't feel like spilling his life story to the creature. So he gave a simple and rather enigmatic answer, "I'm looking for someone..."

He had turned away from Fluffy before answering. The only other people that had made him feel this soft were Crono and his friends. Crono's annoying understanding, Marle's compassion, Lucca's empathy for reasons he didn't understand... even Glenn. That had been a blow. Sympathy from the guy whose best friend he had killed and who himself had been turned into a frog.

This was one of the reasons why he hated company. He didn't want people's sympathy and yet they loaded it onto him. And now Fluffy seemed to be doing the same. That moose had too. He would have muttered to himself had he felt it was worth to explain it to Fluffy.

Fluffy just looked at Magus, trying to decide if he should throw something at him or not. He decided he should and did. He threw the apple he was eating, not hard or anything, just hard enough to get Magus's attention and maybe sting a little bit.

"I asked you why, not what you were doing...... And give my back my apple, I wasn't done eating it." Fluffy put out a paw, wanting Magus to give him back his apple. He was still hungry and that was his only apple.

Magus literally growled as the apple bounced off the back of his head, hitting the ground behind him. He turned around and picked up the apple, looking at it.

"I've been looking for her for millenia with only failure," he said, tossing the apple back to Fluffy. It wasn't a hard throw, more of a toss. But it had gotten Magus to face Fluffy.

The answer was just as loaded as his first one. Without knowing that Magus had time travelled, the only interpertation of what he said was that he was millenia old. As was whoever "she" was.

But he was annoyed enough with Fluffy that his anger masked his depression to all but the most perceptive of beings.

Fluffy caught the apple, taking a bite out of it as he did. He gave the eye to Magus again, wondering if he should of used something bigger to hit him with.

"Really? Thats it? Wow are you paranoid....... I will throw something else at you if you keep dodging the question." Fluffy finished the apple and put the core back into his fur. He pulled it out again, and again it was a whole apple that looked like it was just picked off of a tree.

"Why should I tell you?"

He had his scythe at ready. If the creature tried to throw something at him again, he'd be ready this time. Interestingly, he seemed on a far larger defensive than in any previous altercation with Fluffy. Both physically and emotionally.

Fluffy had, after all, hit a rather sensitive subject.

"Why shouldn't you? Is there a reasonwhy I shouldn't know. It seems unproductive if your searching for someone and you won't tell anyone who, what if they've seen'em and know where they are. What then?"

Fluffy took out a three metal spoons and held them in one hand. "And I did say I would throw something at you if you dodged the question again." Fluffy drop one of the spoons carefully so it would land upside down, and threw one of the other two at Magus. He threw it with the same force he had thrown the apple, though it would probably hurt more since it was metal.

Magus swung his scythe and knocked the spoon off the edge of the island. It should have done something to the blade, but it didn't. In fact the sound of metal hitting metal wasn't quite normal. There was more to the black blade of his scythe than there appeared.

"Because its my fault, and my task!" Magus shouted. What he didn't say is that he doubted Fluffy had seen his sister. Fluffy had shown a dislike of mages and his older sister trumped him in every way possible.

It wasn't really a good argument, but Magus was getting pissed. It took a long time to chant but he was seriously considering his Dark Matter spell at this point.

"So you think you should do it all by yourself and refuse help, even if it means you would find her sooner? I thought you wanted to find her?" Fluffy didn't let himself get angry and kept his voice calm and unchanging. "And here I thought you smart, Tony would probably find her before you did."

Fluffy's fur vibrated for a few seconds then returned to being still. Fluffy mentally shook his head. Nancy was one reason gloomy people bugged him, Nancy always wanted to help them. It wasn't like he could just let her out and do that, who knows what might happen then. Cancer?!

Magus shook his head, "I've had help. All its done is get in my way."

He was, of course, referring to Crono and his group. And they hadn't really been helping him find his sister. Not to mention had refused to fight him when they had the chance. After joining their group he had realized he very likely would have lost. And they had helped him in that their teamwork had allowed Lavos to be destroyed. It meant he could focus on Schala rather than revenge.

"I don't even think she's in this time period," he said.

"Then wait her out, how old can you get before you die anyway?" Fluffy asked Magus, not really realizing what he was asking. Of course he heard Magus talking about time period, but it hadn't clicked yet. Fluffy was smart, but he wasn't always very observant.

Fluffy's fur vibrated again, more this time, it even glowed faintly. Fluffy shook, his fur bristling a bit and the his fur went back to normal. Nancy was getting restless.

Magus raised an eyebrow at the slight glow, but chose not to ask. Since it seemed like Fluffy wasn't going to leave it alone, he figured it was time for a more detailed explanation. Seeming paradoxes had formed who he was, so he might as well go for broke.

"It's not that simple. My sister could be stuck in any time period in the history or future of the world, meaning waiting could take me further from her. She and I are from 12,000 BC. I've never seen her in any other period, but I've scoured the world of that time. If I knew when I was," he glanced at the void. It hit him what it reminded him the most of, "Or where I was, I'd have a start."

Could that be it? Could I be on some piece of reality that got thrown into the void of time?

"There, now I know why your gloomy." His fur glowed brightly again, this time his fur looked like it was in a wind storm. Fluffy grimaced and put a paw on his face. "Yes, I know.... I'm glowing." Fluffy shrugged, if Magus got cancer or some other horrible condition from Nancy it wouldn't be his fault. "I'm sorry, but somebody would like to see you." A ball of light came flying out of Fluffy's fur.

Nancy was a living ball of energy and light. She had enough power in her to power an entire city for a year and still have energy left. But she didn't produce eletricty, she produced healing or life energy. She could revert anything back to the way it was before it was damaged as long as she had seen it before. But she also had a dangerous side to her. Nancy flew around magus quickly, making the a sound like rain and wind chimes mixed together.
