Physical Description
The energy known as Chaos has no form. However, even the most daft of people, those without even an iota of spiritual sense, can feel their skin crawl and goosebumps rise in the presence of the force. Its a fairly large presence, nothing more. Those with higher levels of spiritual sense, particularly those attuned to evil energies, can see a kind of black distortion. Its more of a feeling than anything real, and has no physical form.
Abilities/Powers
Where to begin... Chaos is evil incarnate, concentrated into an unfathomable form. Even the darkest of evils are known to get nervous around it. Prolongued exposure will make it clear it is not an entity that one should mess with. Doesn't mean it stops people, but the nagging suspicion that making a deal with the devil would have been the holiest act possible in comparison to this creature will always be there. At least in some inaccesible corner of one's mind.
Chaos can merge with a being out for darkness, granting them an indescribable boost in powers relating to darkness. It is completely incapable of merging with a pure being such as an angel and can be sent off with suitable powers of light or holy energy. Chaos is in true control of the merge, but if the one it is merged with fights its goals enough, it will merely expel itself and look for another victim. It pushes the one it is merged with as far as it is easy to go and will only merge with those who request it. Back to the "make a deal with the devil" issue, it will only merge with those willing. In the merge the "victim" thinks they have total control, but Chaos is merely living out the usefulness of said victim before leaving. It can't control the victim to do what they don't want, but it can encourage through its direct contact violence. It should be noted Chaos merges with the soul (or in the lack of a soul, the essence) of an entity, not the entity itself. It grants direct access to the soul and makes a person far easier to push towards their violent desires. If a person wants world domination, it will push the victim to do so in the most brutal and bloodthirsty way possible, speaking to the subconscious in a way that makes it seem an iron fist is the only way to rule.
Its main power is that of corruption. By hanging around an area it can incite a royal bloodfest. The nicest person in the world can have their dark desires and thoughts manipulated into becoming a bloodthirsty serial killer comparable to Jack the Ripper or Lizze Borden. The purer an entity is, the longer it takes to corrupt. It can corrupt angels, and has caused cases of fallen angels. Once one has succumbed to its darkness it is nearly impossible to get out of it. Human's falling prey to it depend on how much they fight it and their goals. Those with desire for power are more likely to fall to its corruption, while those with the goal of saving and protecting are less likely. A smart person leaves the area it is in as they can feel it preying on the darkness in their mind.
Skills
Chaos is merely an energy, and not really a sentient one. It has no skills beyond what those it merges with possess, although it does greatly enhance any skills and/or abilities related to violence, death, and darkness.
Personality
Chaos is evil incarnate, its only goal is the destruction of all. It technically has no personality and what little it does is extremely flat. It could be summed up in one word: kill. Throw in destruction for some flavor. Its entire goal is war, famine, bloodshed, and disease. Every action it takes is for this. It doesn't have the demonic desire to rule over Earth (possibly the multiverse) and enslave all sentient species for sport. It merely wants to destroy, and in the most pain inducing bloodthirsty way possible.
History
Chaos exists outside of time, outside of the feeble concepts of beginning and end. It is the void incarnate, the darkness of all concentrated into a horrific mass. It has always and never existed, will always and never exist. However, it used to be fairly scattered. The sentient species of the world were to diverse and concerned with simple living to satiate its desire for destruction. It resided in pieces in the dark netherworld some myths have known as hell, the realm of demons inhabited by demons and those angels who had fallen to the form of devils.
Then man sprouted. In the non religious context of Vault of Chaos, it took advantage of man. It incited the thoughts of murder, greed, death, and destruction. The ease in which man was manipulated allowed Chaos to gather. The beings of light known as angels and the beings of darkness known as demons realized that there would be nothing to save/damn if Chaos were to destroy all. They worked together to create a shrine-like vault and sealed Chaos inside.
Chaos constantly tried to burst free, showing signs of taking any chance it could get to burst loose. But man did not know of the Vault, and it would require the action of an outside being to free it. The angels and demons, despite their everlasting war, were all aware of the danger of the entity and none would think about freeing it for long.
One day, man learned of the Vault. A unholy terror of a demon, having no name like most of the demons, was active when the truce was formed between light and dark. A guard was needed for the vault. The demons argued it should be an angel given the inherent contrast between Chaos and light. The angels made the point that an angel could not survive the constant aura of evil energy that leaked out from the vault, and put on the table that the most feared demon (although they didn't put it quite like that) should guard the vault. As such, the demon so close to ruling the demonic world and feared by both sides of the fight was relegated to guard duty.
As man advanced, the demon who had been stripped of all rank and basically tossed away to rid the world of his danger, would take on many psuedonyms. Some dieties were modeled after his role, and he took the one whose story seemed to most closely match his. A powerful god forced to guard the gates of darkness at the mere whim of those above him. Hades.
Hades would fight off and defend the Vault against many invaders, some battles being closer than others. The constant exposure to the dark energy boosted him in battles, making him impossible to defeat. At least until some unknown group decided they wanted the power of Chaos for their own. The angels caught wind of the imminent invasion, and worrying as they do decided Hades needed to be informed of it. They sent a low ranking messenger angel, who got herself royally lost on the way there. It allowed the force attempting to access the Vault to reach Hades at the Vault's current location, the bottom of a "bottomless pit" in the caverns near a college campus.
She sensed the energy of darkness as she approached and knew Hades was fighting. She basically abducted a male college student to mask her energy of light and flew to help the fight. Her "help" screwed any chances of Hades fighting off the invaders, and Chaos managed to get loose, killing all but Hades and the angel that would become known as Hermia (and the humans they were merged with).
Chaos would begin wreaking havoc on man, and during a fight with Hades in which the guardian had nearly sealed the entity, Chaos fled through a portal that suddenly appeared. It would be quick to merge with a Darkrai known as Zenaku, but it is now aware that Zenaku's usefulness is coming to an end. It is no doubt long before Chaos defuses with the Darkrai and searches for its next willing "victim"...
Other
Chaos has actually appeared in the RPG as kind of an NPC entity. It would continue to be played as such, but talking to those involved in the RP with Hades, Thane, Hermia, Chris, and Chaos, it has become apparent it needs to be an OC. Chaos' main role in the RP is to merge with those idiotic enough to think it will grant them the power to accomplish their goals. If the entity Chaos is merged with "pleases" the force, it has the potential to remain merged for eternity, granting the being it is merged with ageless immortality. It doesn't mean the entity can't be killed. In fact, that is one of the best ways to expel Chaos. Injure or kill who/whatever it is with to force it to flee. If the entity it is fused with is killed, Hades can easily reseal it. Hence why Chaos always flees seconds before death fully hits.
However, Chaos requires some heavy duty cooperative roleplay. I must be asked before Chaos merges with a person, or suggest it myself. And attention must be payed to when Chaos is getting tired. I don't want to have to force an expulsion. And any player who has a character that fuses with Chaos must keep in mind that Hades will dog them until Chaos is expelled from them. This means when the character with Chaos in them jumps threads, I need to be told where they have jumped to as Hades has a sixth sense about where Chaos is. It can "hide" for a while, but due to its nature it will eventually start causing the kind of dark havoc that Hades can lock on to. This includes cross dimension readings, such as if Chaos were to flee to a connected dimension through the ITS. The point is, one must be willing to maintain communication with me if they want to work with Chaos, who is more of a glorified NPC than an actual character.
Also, it can't die. But Hades (and only Hades!) could seal him. Killing it would be the same as killing the evil across the entire multiverse, an act that is impossible. I'm aware it seems extremely overpowered, but if thats an issue think of it as merely a plot device rather than an actual character. I'm signing up for it to better control its movements and lay more claim to its control, but it has technically been in the RPG since Hades arrived.
Chaos comes from the same original story as Hades, Thane, Hermia, and Chris. Its home story is known as Vault of Chaos. Note that this Chaos is not the same as the Chaos of any other franchise, be it Dissidia, Sailor Moon, whatever. Its merely the name given to it by the forces of light and dark and is of little connection to the Chaos of other franchises. Misunderstandings based around its name are rather possible, and its likely one will eventually occur (What with the main enemy of the Sailor Soldiers in Sailor Moon being Chaos and my playing of Sailor Chibi Moon).
Pictures
With no physical form, no picture can be had. If I were to draw a scene with it there would likely be a dark off color distortion cloud to represent it.
