Botan looked down at her human shell for a moment and decided maybe now wasn't the best time to be favoring it. She doubted she could escape the full attack with Hiei's speed, but...
She quickly flew up and to the side. If he tried to go at her now, he'd have to launch off the sides of cliffs. And even with his speed, she could get further out of the way. She felt safe for now where she was, so she called down to him.
"It's not my fault this world is screwed up!" she shouted, using one hand to cup her lips as she held onto the oar with her other. She really did hope he didn't impale her human form, but this was a bit more important.
But the same thought had occured to her. Did the native inhabitants of this world not need spirit guides? It was possible the metaphysics of this world sent souls directly to their afterlife rather than channeling them through the Reikai. Didn't seem likely, but the poor girl was grasping at straws.

Luckily for Botan, the thought never occurred to Hiei to impale her human shell. Nor did he feel like wasting energy trying to attack her. He had more important things to do, like sneer, and look awesome.
"That's not entirely true. YOU'RE Yuusuke's assistant. He disappeared in here on YOUR watch. If he actually is dead, I think it's pretty clear which one of us is going to be sent to Reikai Prison." Hiei decided to just toss that in.
Fun fact: Desired way of being a jerkface is with personal insults. If murder fails, that is.

Botan looked extremely hurt at that comment, her eyes flooding with emotions of depression and worry. She opened her mouth, but closed it again. She eyeed Hiei's stance a bit before floating back down and re-entering her shell, carefully pushing herself to her feet.
"I don't even know how I'm supposed to report back to Koenma-sama like this... but... what if Yuusuke is dead? I don't think I'll get sent to prison but it would mean I failed..."
Yeah, that's the problem with being a jerkface towards women. Their reactions. She looked about ready to cry.

Hiei actually felt a feeling rather... foreign to him boil in the pit of his stomach. Was this regret? Was this... guilt? Or had that human he'd eaten for breakfast just disagreed with him? THE POSSIBILITIES WERE ENDLESS.
"Bah. Whatever. I'm sure Urameshi's still alive. We've just got to get out of this hole." Hiei sighed.

Botan seemed to recover a bit, "Pouh was fine earlier today... maybe you're right..." Either she didn't see Hiei's reaction as unordinary or it just flew over her head. Probably the latter.
She looked around. It was probably a good thing she hadn't been directly involved in the attack of the castle of the Four Saint Beasts. The area quite resembled Byakko's fire pit of DEWM. She looked up and saw a bit of light. She pointed.
"You've got enough energy to get there, right? I don't really want to leave this form behind, what with no place to replace it at. You mind?" she looked back at Hiei.
If he said he didn't have the energy she probably wouldn't take it well. She had a whole speech about his first fight versus Yuusuke planned in her head. And with the events of the Dark Tournament, he shouldn't have used a sixteenth of his energy by now.
The "you mind" part had also seemed rather rhetorical.

"Yeah, I've got more than enough energy. This is why I should've been the one to fight Toguro in the tournament instead of Urameshi. He actually needed that idiot, Kuwabara, to be nearly dead before actually being able to win." Hiei nodded, glancing around. This place, it brought back... happy memories. Memories of the day Kuwabara had almost died, when fighting Byakko.
Of course, it was purely in jest. Hiei probably wouldn't have taken Byakko actually killing Kuwabara well. Then again, with his EPIC SPEED SKILLZ, he probably could've destroyed him in a few seconds.
He was already beginning to manipulate his speed by the time he stated his next sentence.
"Well hurry up. I don't have all day."

Botan was about to lecture him when she caught his creepy grin. She decided it wasn't worth it. She nodded as he goaded her and grabbed a hold of his belt piece, looping it around her hand several times. Losing grip would be a bad idea.
The author realizes this post is short but didn't really have much room to write anything else.

One would only have time to blink before Hiei and Botan were off. His feet landed on the opposing wall, leaping off to the previous one, moving himself higher as he did so. He soon reached a point where there was a rock jutting out, obscuring their passage. He quickly pulled his sword free, slicing it to pieces.
"We're out. Now stop... touching... me." Hiei growled. In truth, they had been much farther down than he'd expected. It had taken a considerable amount of energy to manipulate his speed for such an amount of time.
Ergo, he'd just lost two sixteenths of energy. LE GASP.
