Weight: ? (Skinny side of Average)
Gender: Female
Race: Human

Physical Description
Lucca's general body type isn't one that stands out in a crowd. She has a very slight bit of muscular development from working on machines and such, but its nothing out of the ordinary. She has Caucasian skin that is neither overly pale or especially tanned. Her eyes don't stand out any more than her body type does, and imply a European descent if you were to compare her to our world. They are a soft shade of blue.
She has medium length purple hair, although if the light hits it right it leans more towards magenta. The hair is cut straight at the bottom, and falls to the base of her neck. Her bangs are cut flat across and hang to the edge of her forehead. She has extremely large glasses, and the way they cause her eyes to appear a bit larger than they actually are. The frames themselves are very dark brown and made out of some metal alloy. It's rather stiff and not prone to bending or breaking.
She wears an extremely complex helmet of sorts. The top part is slightly hardened leather of a dark brown shade. It rests in a gold frame of sorts, which has some minor detailing. It doesn't come very far down her forehead, but it is rather secure. A large round metallic piece hangs over the right side of her face. A large round blue cap is situated just above where her ear would be, and is capable of being opened. This is important as the hat has a lot of complex wirework. Coming off the piece over her right head is something resembling the mouthpiece of a headset. The wiring inside the helmet is connected to the mouthpiece (see Abilities/Powers).
Lucca likes outfits that are easy to move around in and are far more masculine that most girls in her time would wear. Tunics, shorts, and lots of pockets pretty well describes her wardrobe. The outfit she is wearing when she comes to the island follows this theme and is described below.
Her outfit has several layers to it. She has a dark cloudy blue shirt with long sleeves. It hangs loosely from her body and is rather long, coming about two inches past her hips. She has on a body tight black pair of shorts that stop just above her knees. Over both of these is an orange vest piece that she wraps with the left side on top. It's kept in place thanks to a large but fairly tight brown leather belt, which also has a suspender like attachment that loops over her shoulders. It looks quite worn for how many years she has used it. Attached to the belt are various loops, satchels, bags, and whatnot. The most noticeable pouch is to her right side and a little forward. It snaps shut and takes some effort to open. Her most important small tools are kept there, as well as maps and the like.
Hooked through a loop in the belt next to the large pouch is a large hammer with a black handle and a dark red head. The head almost seems to shimmer with a golden light. At her left side she has something like a homebrewed laser gun holstered. The body is a shimmering orange, almost like one might describe a metal sun. Various accents are red and the trigger is yellow, both with the same shimmering factor to them. A satellite dish-like radar piece is on the front and is red. The details on the inside are shining yellow.
She has an ugly "puke yellow" scarf tied around her neck. It's tied loosely and clumped quite a bit. It is very large untied. She doesn't care about the coloring, which shows in that it is covered in a fair number of grease stains. Her socks are bundled above the shoes and the same dark cloudy blue as her base shirt. She wears hardened leather shoes with the tops rolled down. They are actually steel-toed, but like most shoes of that variety the steel part is on the inside and not easily visible.
She has a stormy grey-blue tote satchel of sorts that she keeps various supplies in. She tends to keep it strapped over her body, the strap resting over her right shoulder. It ties closed underneath the lip, but she has it organized in such a way she can quickly pull out supplies if the need arises without even opening the tote.
Weapons
Lucca has quite the variety of weapons. Her main weapon is a laser gun. She calls it the "Wondershot" and is made from the solar energy of a magical stone known simply as a "Sun Stone". For a full visual description, see the "Physical Description" section. The main problem with the Wondershot is that she has little control over how much power it outputs. She is well aware how finicky it can be, and will release the button in time to prevent a power overload. This means that the shimmering light that seems to be made of magma that is fired from it can simply graze you or all but blow your arm off. She won't fire it unless she intends to to damage. She can choose to do a very small amount of damage, but it's more up to the specifics of the weapon if it can output a large amount of damage.
Her other weapon is made of the Sun Stone itself. It's a hammer, but it seems to react to life force. It outputs energy on a completely random basis towards things that are alive. It seems to regard life the same way Lucca does, so machines are treated as alive for the damage of the weapon. However, it works fine as a normal hammer. When she refers to the Wondershot, she is generally referring to her gun. However, the hammer is sometimes included as the same weapon due to how she treats them as a set. She uses the hammer in battle only if she is in closed quarters.
Hooked through one of the many loops of her belt is a small metal contraption about the size of her hand. A tube about twice as wide as her thumb comes off the bottom of it, and she has a button she can flick to turn the "safety" on and off. It is actually a homebrewed flamethrower, and she can whip it out and fire a stream of flame at the opponent. It is not magic based, and as such can't do as much damage as even her lowest ranked fire spell. It does have the advantage, however, of a continual stream. She can aim at an enemy several feet back and also hit anything in the way - including allies if they get in her way. She is known to call the attack "Flamethrower" in conversations.
She has a function on her headset that is a type of weapon. She presses a series of three buttons in order (middle, back, forward) and waves her other arm in a rhythmic fashion. It sends out a pulse to the general area and has a chance of putting enemies to sleep. It effects those who are tired more easily and never works on those impossible to hypnotise. It also effects allies if they don't plug their ears or otherwise brace themselves in time. As such it is less effective towards those who know how Lucca battles. This weapon built into her headset has been named "Hypnowave" by Lucca.
In one side of her tote are some very sturdy glass vials. They have a "pin" of sorts in the top. She can yank out the pin with some effort, putting a small crack in the glass. She then throws the glass vial at the enemy with a moderate amount of force. The now fragile glass shatters upon small impact and explodes. It is more like a nitroglycerin grenade than anything else, although she likes to call them her "Napalm" bombs. It can be forced to go off in her hand after she has weakened the glass, however. She has ten of these when she comes to the island, but can easily make more with access to standard household supplies. They effect a small area around where they impact.
In the other side of her tote are five golf-ball sized charcoal black objects. They resemble smokebombs, complete with a fuse. A close examination would reveal they are actually metallic and more technological than one might otherwise expect. Lucca can alight them with her magical fire power. The small blip of flame requires no chanting. She has five seconds to toss the weapon after lighting it. It cause double to triple the damage of her "Napalm" attack, and effects roughly the same area. They are harder to make than the Napalm bombs, however, and as such she can't use them as often. She needs access to a good amount of technology or a lab to make these. She likes to call them her "Megaton Bombs".
Technically her shoes could be called a weapon thanks to their steel toes. However, she doesn't think to use them as such very often, and would only do so if things became desperate.
Abilities/Powers
Lucca can call upon one of the four magical energies inherent to her world. While it was once believed the power was connected to Lavos, Lucca theorizes that it is connected more to the connection one shares with the land and the power of the heart. Her power is that of Fire, and she can cast a number of spells around that skill.
She casts the spells through spoken magical words that seem to come from beyond time and space. The ability to harness her power is not inherent, but was unlocked for her by a powerful entity beyond time known as Spekkio. It takes some concentration to cast a spell and has a terrible time of maintaining the concentration needed without someone running interference. She basically can't take the time needed if she is the only one fighting. Her magical skills are listed below, as they are predefined.
Fire - Greatly reduced damage to those resistant to fire, zero damage to those immune to it. Works as a minor healing spell to those who draw power from it (Not who use it, but who actually take power from it, like a fire elemental.)
Incantation: Hi kala... FIRE!
Lucca chants and points her hand at the enemy. Fire spirals down it and shoots at the enemy she has pointed at. It only effects the one target.
Fire2 - Damage is less against those resistant to fire, zero damage to those immune to it. It works as a moderate healing spell to those who take power from fire (Not who use it, but who actually take power from it, like a fire elemental).
Incantation: Hi zuno ne kala... FIRE2!
Lucca chants and a ring of fire spirals out around herself, bursting her targets into flame. It does roughly the same amount of damage as her Fire spell, but it effects any enemies she can see and anything else she deems a target. However, the energy won't alight her allies thanks to her control over the spell.
Flare - Full damage to those resistant to fire, greatly reduced damage to those normally immune to it. It can give a slight boost to weaker entities that gain power from fire, and can function as a strong healing spell to stronger ones (not who use it, but who actually gain power from it, like a fire elemental).
Incantation: Hi zuno ne kala mora tir suro ma... FLARE!
Lucca raises her arms into the air as she chants, drawing powerful fire energy into herself. Right before she shouts the attack name she clasps her hands as if praying, and the energy explodes out from a central point as she shouts the attack name. Her clothes flutter from the mystic energy. As with her other spells, she has enough mental and magical control for it to not effect things she doesn't want it to. However, she can't save an entire area from getting hit and as such won't use it in a highly flammable area.
Protect
Incantation: Pa pere mir su... PROTECT!
Lucca lets out a chant and throws her hand into the air. A single target is enveloped in a protective magical barrier that greatly reduces physical damage. Magical weapons will have their magical effects work with full power, but any actual cutting or hitting will be noticeably reduced. if the magic makes the weapon stronger rather than giving it special abilities, it is treated as a physical attack. One casting effects one ally, although that one ally can be herself.
Her headset has a lot of wiring on the inside and is quite capable of functioning as a headset. It does require a few minutes of access to a mainframe to wire. If there is some kind of virus protection or block on the system it can take much longer.
Skills
Lucca's main skill has to do with invention and intelligence. She can use computers of the most advanced civilizations without much effort and is an excellent problem solver. She can build weapons out of the scrappiest of scraps and is good at working with chemicals and is knowledgeable with all forms of refining.
She is a speed reader and can get through something like the dictionary in a manner of hours. It should be noted that her powers of invention is not without its flaws. In fact, up until the creation of the device known as the Telepod, almost all of her inventions blew up in her face. She is fairly accident prone and it has caused her to become somewhat infamous in Truce thanks to the frequent explosions at her home.
She can hack and rewire programs on almost any computer she can get direct access to. However, she despises breaking into systems and wont' do it unless she absolutely has to. She can't give directions over distance, as she has trouble dumbing things down. Even if a person is of equal intellect, she has a terrible time of solving problems she can't get "hands on" with.
Not a "skill", but with no other place to put it, her inability to hold her liquor needs to be pointed out. Her world allows people to drink at around thirteen years of age. She can not hold her liquor and is a very giggly drunk. She gets drunk on the equivalent of one beer and very much let's loose. It is not out of the question for her to rip her top off or to flirt with the most dangerous guy in the bar. She gets terrible hangovers and she is basically incapable of remembering a good party. However, she is rather cute and funny and it is not out of the question for people to purposely get her drunk.
Personality
Lucca is a kind hearted girl who tries to put her friends ahead of her at all times. She is the type to suffer quietly and allow her friends to be happy at the complete sacrifice of her own happiness. She hates to see suffering and has an Einstenian level of faith in the human race. She believes science is for the betterment of man and despises to see it used for war.
She has an extremely large sense of justice. She isn't really easily angered, but can be quite scary if you manage it. She is shy and withdrawn around people she doesn't know well, but is often snarky and egotistical towards those she does. She tends to be very modest unless one is talking about her skills as a scientist, but feels bad about gloating once she realizes she is doing so. It's not that her modesty is false, its just that she is so concerned with what others think that she often trips over her own pride.
Lucca adores learning about new things and loves working with machinery. She has a bit of a shiny distraction factor towards new machines and is more than capable of making most people's heads spin with her scientific knowledge. She is super book smart but tends to fall short a bit in the social department. She sometimes has troubles being herself.
History
Lucca Ashtear was born to Taban and Lara Ashtear just over sixteen years ago in the village of Truce, the capital of the Kingdom of Guardia. Up until she was about eight, she hated machines and science. Her father constantly left his gadgets littering the house, and had far more interest in her slightly older neighbor's swordplay. She spent far more time with this "Crono" than she did at home. This would all change one night.
Taban was out of the house, having left his usual explicit instructions that Lara was not to mess with his machines. The woman was annoyed at the gathering dust, however, and chose to clean a large machine the man had left out. She got her dress stuck in the machine, and her attempts to get free turned the machine on. It began dragging her towards it. Young Lucca freaked, having not the knowledge to turn the machine off. The machine ended up wounding her mother in such a way that she could no longer walk. However, this isn't the memory that Lucca knows the clearest, and one could say it is trying to fade from her mind. For the event had two outcomes caused by paradox.
The memory that maintains dominance in Lucca's mind is of a teenage sized person rushing up and pressing a bunch of buttons. The stranger vanished before Lucca could make her out, but at that age she thought her an angel. For the machine stopped before her mother lost the ability to walk. This is (now) the true history, and her mother is quite capable of walking. Both versions of the history are what made the girl get into science. This second version is the one her friends know, including fellow time traveller Crono.
Her interest in science grew with the girl, as did her and Taban's infamy for blowing things up. In the year 1,000 CE, the Kingdom of Guardia threw an event known as the Millenial Fair. Lucca worked with her father to create the first device for teleportation, which she dubbed the Telepod. It took her sometime to set up the display for the fair, and was extremely pleased when Crono showed up. She talked the teenage boy into trying the Telepod after he introduced her to a vaguely familiar girl known as Marle.
The Telepod worked just fine until Marle chose to try it. The space altering properties of the Telepod seemed to interact with Marle's pendant, and the girl vanished. After sending off the spectators, Lucca helped Crono follow Marle with her pendant acting as a key of sorts. She rushed home and began doing research, chasing after Crono after a few days with a new invention. Using the principles of the Telepod she created an item known as a Gate Key, which allowed her to oppen the "Gate" that Crono and Marle had gone through.
She and Crono joined up with an anthropomorphic frog who called himself Frog and helped rescue Marle from being lost to time thanks to her ancestor being lost to an altered timeline. Turns out Marle was really Princess Nadia, heir to the Guardian throne. They succeeded, only to have Frog leave out of self-inflicted shame at not protecting Queen Leene. She involved herself in the events of the execution the Chancellor pushed upon Crono as a punishment for "kidnapping" the princess. Together with Nadia they fled through a conveniently placed Gate.
In circa 2,300 CE, the three friends learned that the world would be destroyed in 1,999 CE by a being known as Lavos. Thus officially began an adventure to save the world. Over their travels they met many allies. A humanoid robot named X-66Y whom they renamed Robo. They rejoined with Frog and learned his real name was Glenn. A cave woman by the name of Ayla. And the prince of a long lost kingdom who had taken the name Magus to go with his current life. Crono was killed, and the friends chose to spare the mage. It was with his help they restored Crono to life by manipulating the flow of time.
During her many adventures, she would gain the opportunity to travel back to the moment her mother lost her legs. The altered history conflicted with her mortal frame, and she barely remembers the original timeline as little more than a bad dream. It is possible that in a few years she will not remember it at all. She never told her friends of the excursion, and they act as if the altered timeline is the true one - They don't seem to remember the original one, and since Lucca was the only one directly involved, it is likely they don't. Robo likely does, but Crono is the only one that was truly involved in the events.
Eventually three of the group raided the Black Omen, a palace outside of time that had risen from the ruins of the Kingdom of Zeal. Lavos was destroyed and time was stabilized. Lucca bid farewell to their friends as they returned to their proper times. Marle allowed the girl to shed a tear for Robo, for with the altered flow of time it was unclear if he would continue to exist. Using the time machine gained in their travels known as Epoch, they had to chase after Crono's mother and cat.
After that chaos, it was clear Crono and Marle had grown close. Lucca absorbed herself in her studies. It was time for the Epoch to be dismantled... she approached the machine to do the deed when she realized the Gate Key was reacting to something. It was a terrible thought, for the Gates were connected to Lavos. The "Gate" opened before she could alert Crono and Marle, and drew the poor girl in. The Key that she assumed had activated the gate lay abandoned in her shop... but it wasn't a Time Gate. For some unknown reason, Lucca had been drawn to Dimension Island.
Other
I don't recognize Chrono Cross as canon, although none of this application directly conflicts with that. In fact, her surname comes from Cross. I see no reason to argue with a detail as minor as that. It's not a mind screw plot hole like most of Cross is.
The one post worth of plot the previous Lucca was in will not be used as canon. I do not agree with Lucca working with Hojo. And I'm a little late with this canon app, I forgot last night.
