Full Name: XANA
Nicknames:
Age: 10, approximately
Height: None
Weight: None
Gender: Referred to with masculine pronouns
Race: Multi-agent system of artificial intelligence
Alliance: Evil
Home: Formerly Lyoko, the virtual world in the supercomputer under the abandoned Renault Factory in Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, France; currently the Internet
Franchise: Code Lyoko
Physical Description: XANA has no corporeal form of his own; his most distinguishable shape is the logo often referred to as the "Eye of XANA."
Weapons: Anything or anyone he possesses (aka Xanafies; see Abilities/Powers) in the real world; his monsters on the virtual plane, which are destroyed by striking the Eye of XANA on its body; and William Dunbar, his current "general" in the virtual plane
Monsters on Lyoko and Replikas are as follows: Kankrelats, Hornets, Blocks, Krabs, Megatanks, Tarantulas, Creepers, Mantas, Scyphozoa, and Guardians.
Monsters in the Internet "waters" are as follows: Kongres, Sharks, and the Kalamar.
Abilities/Powers: By activating towers in the virtual world on Lyoko (their normally white auras turn red when he activates them), XANA can launch any kind of attack on the real world. He achieves this mainly be creating digital specters--extensions of his will in the form of black smoke--to possess some object or creature. At first, the his specters could only possess electronic or computerized objects. As his power slowly grew, they were able to take over other objects and small creatures, then later fully ursp control of human bodies--something the Lyoko Warriors have dubbed being Xanafied. His specters, however, cannot control those with experience fighting him on Lyoko, like Yumi, Ulrich, Odd, and Aelita. Those under XANA's control display powers such as electricity-manipulation, enhanced strength and speed, in rare cases phasing through solid matter, and in even rarer cares self-replication.
A more advanced version of his specters is the polymorphic specters. This kind is a shape-shifter, capable of taking on the form of and acting like anyone. If XANA knows the person his specter is impersonating well enough, he can fool just about anyone around it until someone who truly knows the impostee spots any subtle but tell-tale inconsistencies in their behavior. Polymorphic specters can go to Lyoko if virtualized under the impersonated warrior's digital avatar, but the supercomputer will be able to tell the difference.
XANA maintains his attacks on Earth through a tower in the virtual world closest to where his attack takes place. If the tower were to be deactivated, either by XANA's own will or shut down by Aelita, the specter spearheading the attack would dissolve and the attack would be nullified. Usually, when an attack generates attention that may lead to the discovery of Lyoko, the Lyoko Warriors can run a time reset called Return to the Past, which launches a white energy bubble from the supercomputer outward indefinitely. This program, however, seems to only affect their own world, even after it was opened up to the ITS. The heroes have learned to use this technique sparingly, though, as the RTTPs can increase XANA's power. Another note on polymorphic specters virtualized on Lyoko is that they don't need an activated tower to maintain their forms once virtualized. But if the tower is still deactivated when the specter is devirtualized, it won't rematerialize in the scanner it came though.
Skills: Impersonation, manipulation, and strategy
Personality: Being a computer program, XANA doesn't have much in the way of a conventional personality. He does, however, express himself as being superintelligent, knowing almost everything scientific about Earth. XANA is also very cunning and manipulative, often able to conceal the motives behind his plans until the last moment. XANA has a basic understanding of human nature, but he doesn't understand complex emotions such as love and compassion; for example, he underestimated Jeremie's ability to overcome his fear of virtualization with his concern for his friends' safety when he had them trapped in a simulation bubble on Lyoko.
History: XANA's history could perhaps be traced way back to the 1970s when French government scientist Waldo Franz Schaeffer was working on a military program called Project Carthage to monitor enemy communications. Dr. Schaeffer's project soon after came into danger of falling into the wrong hands, so Schaeffer went AWOL, taking his pregnant wife, Antea, with him to live in the mountains. There Aelita Schaeffer was born, and the family lived there for a number of years. One winter day, however, government agents took Antea hostage in retaliation for Waldo's desertion.
Dr. Schaeffer knew at that point that Project Carthage needed to be destroyed. So, he located an old abandoned car-manufacturing facility--the Renault Factory--in the Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt with enough resources for his plan. Moving with his daughter and himself into a cozy forest cottage he affectionately dubbed the Hermitage, Waldo changed his name to Franz Hopper--Franz from his middle name and Hopper from his wife's maiden name.
During the several more years they lived at the Hermitage, Hopper applied to the nearby boarding school, Kadic Academy, as a science teacher for his day job. Meanwhile, he snuck down to the factory where he started building his uranium isotope powered quantum computer. This powerful supercomputer was designed to house a virtual world surrounding a spherical base named Carthage after Hopper's old project. This base was the home of XANA, a self-aware multi-agent system Hopper created to destroy his old project.
Franz built a laboratory with a four-monitor interface system and holographic display below the factory. Below the lab, he built three cylindrical cabins about 10 feet in height and 3 feet in diameter. These cabins--called "scanners"--would be used to convert a person's atoms into energy and send them into the virtual world he dubbed Lyoko in digital forms based on their subconscious thoughts. Below the Scanner Room was the supercomputer itself.
After completing all the hardware, Hopper began work on the software. But Hopper was growing increasingly wary and paranoid, believing he was being spied on and that he wouldn't finish his project in time before someone tried taking him away. He was pleasantly surprised, however, when he discovered a program he didn't even mean to create: a time reversal program called Return To The Past. It reversed all events by a day except the memory of the computer and those of the people programmed into it.
XANA watched as his creator grew more mentally unstable and began to develop a disgust of humans. Eventually, Hopper completed his computer and the virtual world inside of it, and planned to virtualize himself and Aelita into Lyoko. He programmed his and Aelita's avatars with key programs to Lyoko. He then burned his entire video diary to encrypted CD-Roms and locked them in a train station locker. Hopper hid the key in his daughter's favorite toy, Mr. Pück, which he hid in a hole in the wall behind a painting in Aelita's room.
Hopper and Aelita's time to leave for Lyoko came none too soon, as it was at that day that the government agents finally found their cottage. Hopper and Aelita managed to escape to the sewers before the men in black could catch up to them, and Hopper finally showed Aelita his supercomputer. Hopper then launched a self-virtualization program to send him and his daughter, "to a world where we will be safe. You and I...forever." Unfortunately, XANA took their arrival in Lyoko as his opportunity to rebel against his creator. When Hopper asked XANA to allow them to live in peace on Lyoko, he denied them that luxury and attacked them with virtual monsters he created for this moment. Hopper knew XANA was beyond reasoning at this point, so he ordered Aelita to hide in a tower while he shut the supercomputer down from inside. Before he could, however, XANA managed to steal the "keys to Lyoko" from Hopper's data and Aelita's memory in an attempt to take hers as well. But before he could get to the programs, Hopper had succeeded in shutting the computer down.
Around a decade later, the supercomputer was found by none other than preteen gifted Kadic student Jeremie Belpois. Having come to the factory in search of parts for his miniature robots, Jeremie reactivated the supercomputer, waking up the amnesiac Aelita and, unfortunately, XANA. As Jeremie helped the virtual girl he named Maya for lack of another one understand her surroundings, XANA knew Jeremie would be potentially big threat and set out to oust him. This, unfortunately for XANA, led to Jeremie's classmates Ulrich Stern, Odd Della Robbia, and Ulrich's sparring partner from a year up Yumi Ishiyama joining the fight.
After learning how to destroy monsters on Lyoko and how Aelita can deactivate XANA's towers, and Aelita learned her real name, the gang of kids dubbed themselves the "Lyoko Warriors" and vowed to help Aelita fight XANA until Jeremie could design the program to materialize her into the real world.
XANA has since tried to kill off the members of the gang to halt their interference, and he doesn't care who else he kills on the way. However, XANA has never actually managed to kill anyone with the very early on exception of Yumi's grandfather, who died buying Yumi time to get to the factory. It was Grandpa Ishiyama's death that ultimately revealed to the gang the Return To The Past's fatal flaw: the dead cannot be risen.
After around a year of fighting XANA, Jeremie finally managed to create Aelita's special materialization program. The problem was, Aelita was still connected to the supercomputer through the memories XANA managed to steal. But since no one knew of the memories, Jeremie misread this connection as a virus XANA infected her with just prior to her initial rematerialization. The gang was forced to keep the supercomputer running and continue fighting XANA, and it seemed Aelita would have to stay on Lyoko. This was remedied when Jeremie--along with creating flying vehicles for the gang on Lyoko--upgraded his activated tower detection program to what he called the "Super Scanner." The Super Scanner detected activated towers instantly, making Aelita's presence in Lyoko during quiet times unnecessary; this allowed Aelita to enroll at Kadic as a boarder.
As Aelita continued to live on Earth again, however, her stolen memories kept trying to call to her. This led the frightened and confused Aelita back to her old home, the Hermitage, where she found Mr. Pück and the key inside. Jeremie managed to figure out what the key was to, and as a result found Hopper's diary and began decoding it. XANA knew the diary would contain information Jeremie could use against him, so he destroyed all the CDs. But Jeremie was one step ahead of XANA and had already downloaded the entire contents onto a restricted access section of the supercomputer. Meanwhile, XANA renewed his attempts to steal the keys to Lyoko from Aelita, sending the Scyphozoa to do this. Although the kids didn't know what XANA wanted yet, they knew the Scyphozoa was trying to take Aelita's memory and were always there to stop it.
It was somewhere around this time that XANA finally achieved enough power to possess people; he'd done so by hacking the Return To The Past and repeatedly using it to gain power. It was this that made the Lyoko Warriors realise they gave him that edge and vow to only reserve the RTTP for extreme emergencies. Around this time, XANA was also concerned with making sure Aelita stayed alive, because he needed the keys from her head. This is shown when helped the gang save Aelita from Jeremie's malfunctioning Marabounta project (which was originally supposed to squash out XANA's monsters) and released Aelita from his control (he'd possessed her by non-conventional means--a necklace--since traditonal XAnafication was out) when Odd started firing his weapon at her.
Eventually, Jeremie did manage to decode Franz Hopper's diary, but not before XANA sent a polymorphic specter to infultrate the gang on Lyoko and sabatoge this mission. When XANA tried taking over the tower Jeremie and Aelita were using to decode the data, while the clone was keeping Ulrich busy, Hopper interveined. Hopper ran the decoding process himself, believing that if anyone deserved to look at his diary, it was the very group of kids who had been protecting his daughter.
Jeremie learned the truth of Lyoko and XANA's creation, as well as Aelita's origin, from the dairy. He was also able to figure out what was really tying Aelita to the supercomputer and set out to locate her missing memories. But XANA was able to pull her into a trap, where he was able to devirtualize the rest of the gang and trap Aelita with the Scyphozoa. The monster succeeded with its mission this time around, and Aelita was left for dead as XANA got away with the keys to Lyoko. He was able to use hers and Hopper's to escape the supercomputer and travel the World Wide Web.
While Franz Hopper restored all Aelita's memories, bringing her back to life, XANA traveled across the Internet finding abandoned supercomputers. He used these computers are part of a plan involving many Replikas of various Lyoko sectors. XANA used these Replikas to control the corresponding labs in the real world and began work on a robotic army to enslave humanity. Meanwhile, Jeremie had begun using his old supercomputer to track him on the web. To do away with the annoyingly persistant interference of the Lyoko gang, XANA sought to destroy Lyoko by taking out the core data of the virtual world (aka the "Heart of Lyoko") in the middle of the Carthage Sector. When the Lyoko Warriors started following his monsters there to stop these attempts, XANA started using his old Scyphozoa to possess Aelita on Lyoko and use her to destroy the surface sectors one by one. At the time, Carthage couldn't be directly accessed and had to be reached by the surface sectors, so destorying them would've been able to stop the gang from getting to Carthage. However, by the time XANA was able to delete the final surface sector, Jeremie managed to develop a direct-access virtualization code to Carthage.
Despite their success in remaining one step ahead of XANA on Lyoko, the gang was starting to get strained from all his attacks, and their absenses from school were starting to be noticed. To solve this, the gang resolved to introduce a new member--William Dunbar--to the fight. XANA saw, though, that William was a naive, cocky newbie, and took advantage of this during his first trip to Lyoko. As the rest of the team was busy during one of XANA's attacks on the Heart of Lyoko, William and Aelita went alone to stop him. XANA used this to isolate William and possess him with the Scyphozoa. After finally destroying the Heart of Lyoko (and Lyoko itself to an extent) through William, XANA altered William's appearance and gave him new powers, turning him into his permanent slave and monster general.
After Franz Hopper, hding in the Internet from XANA, managed to send data to Jeremie on how to recreate Lyoko, XANA sent William to kidnap Aelita. XANA knew Hopper would be a major threat to his plans with the Replikas, so he repeatedly tried baiting him out into the open the only way he could--by having William try chucking Aelita into the Digital Sea where she'd be eternally virtualized and lost forever. Only once has William successfully chucked her in, and Hopper managed to escape death from XANA after returning Aelita to Lyoko.
Just as XANA feared they would, Jeremie and Aelita developed a submarine dubbed the Skidbladnir after the Norse ship Hopper read to Aelita about, and the gang used it to dive into the Digital Sea and travel into the Internet to look for XANA. As a consequence, the gang found XANA's Replikas and began piecing together clues about his master plan. XANA would have to repeatedly dispatch William to prevent the gang from destroying his supercomputers, but he'd more often than not fail. To get the Lyoko Warriors to the supercomputer they needed to smash, Jeremie developed a program that turned the warriors into polymorphic specter versions of their Lyoko forms by activating a Replika tower the Skid docked to. All William would have to do to sabatoge their missions, though, was enter the tower and activate it for XANA.
XANA was able to steal data from the Skid at one point via the Scyphozoa. Though the gang was able to fend the monster off, XANA had enough information to create a sub for William to fight the Skid in the Internet with and teleport his monsters into Replika supercomputer labs to fight the gang. XANA continues to use the towers on Lyoko to launch attacks on the Lyoko Warriors. But like before, XANA needs to keep Aelita alive; this time because she's live bait for Hopper.
XANA was the first to notice when a connection opened between Boulogne-Billancourt and the Dimensional Island, and he was savvy to the many possibilities this opened up for him...
XANA will eventually be destroyed when Hopper and Jeremie manage to collaberate together on an "Anti-XANA Program," but not before Jeremie and Aelita find data on XANA's control over William in one of his Ice Sector Replikas and use that data to free him.

Eye of XANA:
Full Name: William Dunbar
Nicknames:
Age: 15
Height: Average, I assume
Weight: See height
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good (of free will) Evil (under XANA's control)
Home: Formerly the boarding school he was kicked out of before; then Kadic Academy, Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, France; and currently the Internet
Franchise: Code Lyoko
Physical Description: William has black, messy hair. On earth, he wears a black t-shirt under a brown jacket, gray slacks, and sneakers. On Lyoko, he wears a dark gray jumpsuit with white Eye of XANA on its chest, black gloves and boots, and red trimming.
Weapons: His primary weapon on Lyoko and any other virtual universe is his large, Cloud-style (see "Final Fantasy") sword. While under XANA's control, his sword has black vines creeping up the blade and the Eye of XANA near the hilt on both sides. The sword has a number of unique abilities under XANA's influence. It can be called remotely back to its master by turning to smoke and flying back to William, and it can be reduced to smoke and back when not in use. William is also capable of striking powerful enough blows to damage the terrain around him. William can swing his sword once to build up a charge of energy and again to release an energy disk that flies out and slices through whatever it first comes in contact with.
Abilities/Powers: On Earth, William utilizes all the powers granted to anyone possessed by one of XANA's digital specters. On the virtual plane, he can turn himself into a black smoke fly around at high speeds before reverting back to human form at his destination--a power dubbed Super Smoke. He can also fire the black smoke from his hands and use it to levitate objects and people. Other powers include hovering and long-range vision.
William can also endure much more damage than the Lyoko Warriors, but he can be taken down. He doesn't devirtualize like the others, but instead reduces to glowing red smoke with dissipates into the ground, probably back to wherever XANA holds him when he's not being used.
Skills: William possesses a formidable amount of fighting skill, which he is currently using against his former teammates.
Personality: As William himself, rather than XANA's puppet, William was a romantic and a self-proclaimed "eternal optimist." When he falls for a girl, he has a tendency to go a little crazy over it. The biggest example of this is arguably the many love notes he glued all over the place at his last school--including the principals windshield--for one particular girl, which got him expelled in the first place. At Kadic, he has his sights on Yumi Ishiyama, the Japanese-European member of the Lyoko team. This makes him Ulrich Stern's biggest obstacle towards winning her heart, though he has admitted she seems more in favor of Ulrich than him.
William can be a little overzealous at times, a fault that ultimately led to his possession by XANA. He claims himself to be, "not exactly a rebel, [he's] just a little... rebellious," and that he "can't bring [himself] to be sensible. But being sensible is just not sensible." The last part of statement William took from the lyrics of a song by his, Yumi's, and Ulrich's favorite band, the SubSonics (later the SubDigitals).
History: William was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Dunbar as the son of a high-paid office worker. He attended an unnamed boarding school where he fell in love with a girl he attended school with. In what displayed the old "love makes you crazy" phrase down to a T, William posted stickers with love letters to the girl all over the school, including the Principal's windshield. That foolhardy behavior led to his expulsion from the school.
William would afterwards be enrolled in a boarding school in the Paris, France suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt named Kadic Academy, where he met and fell for Yumi Ishiyama. He knew he had competition from the 13-year-old (now 14-year-old) Ulrich Stern. What he didn't know was that Yumi, Ulrich, and Ulrich's roommate, Odd Della Robbia fought in a virtual universe called Lyoko against a demonic artificial intelligence named XANA. However, William has gotten involved with a number of XANA's attacks, only to forget when Jeremie Belpois would run the Return to the Past.
Eventually, one of these involvements would not only lead William to learn the full story of XANA, but also help the gang save the factory from being destroyed by him. The gang took a vote on whether or not to initiate William into the group, but Yumi's nay-say resulted in William's memory erasure. Oddly enough, William started dreaming about the incident for some time afterward.
Soon, XANA's attacks on the gang were starting to become too much for them to handle without people noticing their absences, so the gang (reluctantly on Yumi's part) decided to bring William in. During a simple mission to protect the Heart of Lyoko, every team member except Aelita and William were tied down by different obstacles, so the two went in alone. William, unfortunately, had gotten so caught up in his first experience on the virtual world that XANA was able to isolate him and possess him though the Scyphozoa.
Under XANA's control, William devirtualized Aelita and wiped out the rest of the Lyoko Warriors when they arrived. He then went on to destroying the Heart of Lyoko, wiping out the virtual world and leaving the gang with no way of tracking XANA. Once William was alone in the virtual ocean known as the Internet, XANA proceeded to take a more permanent control of William and changed his digital avatar to suit his needs.
Lyoko creator Franz Hopper contacted the gang soon after Lyoko's destruction with data on how to rebuild it. So, when the gang began recreating their virtual world, XANA sent William under the guise of him escaping his clutches. Xanafied William was able to fool the gang long enough to grab Aelita and take her to Lyoko, where he planned to throw her into the digital sea and lure out Franz Hopper. The gang, of course, had no idea why he was kidnapping her at the time (though they'd find out later), but they knew they had to be on their guard from then on.
While XANA began using William as his general on the virtual plane, Jeremie was hiding his absence from the rest of the school by means of a polymorphic specter in William's image. Although the clone seemed a little dim-witted, Jeremie was at least able to make sure XANA could never take over it by placing protection on the tower that controlled it. When the gang made their way into the Internet on their new virtual sub dubbed affectionately the Skidbladnir by Aelita, they quickly discovered one of XANA's numerous Replikas of Lyoko. They then set out to destroy all the Replikas they found, so XANA began deploying William to stop them.
The gang continue to hunt down Replikas and deactivate towers every time XANA shows his ugly proverbial face around Kadic, and William is always there to get in their way. Eventually, the gang will find the Replika with the tower that controls William, and they will free him. They will also, with Franz Hopper's help, run a program that would destroy XANA and all his Replikas at once, allowing them to shut down the supercomputer and live a normal life from then on... but for now, XANA's a continuing threat, and William is still their enemy.

For those of you who just read through all three of those profiles--including XANA's completely unabridged history... Congratulations! You didn't die! Seriously though, sorry about that. But XANA and William kind of go together.
Also, I'd just like to warn you ahead of time about something regarding bringing XANA into this MMOTRPG. Rest assured, I will ask their puppeteer's permission in advance. But when XANA possesses a DC roleplay character, for all intents and purposes, that means I've possessed the character, too. I'll be playing any character while they are Xanafied until Aelita deactivates the tower. Once she does, said Xanafied character will be unconscious for some time, and then they won't remember being possessed at all once they wake up.
For those who are savvy with the Code Lyoko Season 4 episodes, their world's involvement in this massive crossover takes place somewhere between "Bad Connection" and "Cold Sweat." I'd like to play the characters as having progressed through Season 4 as far as they can without getting into the winding down moments of the series.
EDIT: Edited out William's clone.
