Somehow Leo's comments only made Makoto feel worse. He opened and shut his mouth a few times, although Leo had turned away and couldn't see it. He had the distinct feeling he had overstayed his welcome. He looked towards the door and then back to Leo. The firey creature had food, would leaving him be really that great an idea? But this world obviously had far more accesible food than Enid. And there was Pentral to consider. Makoto pulled the earpiece the anthropomorphic fox had given him and looked at it.
This was a development. The mere fact that he was having trouble deciding to leave or not. Normally he would have just left. Leo was either the worlds greatest liar and with the Global Alliance or he was telling the truth. A thought suddenly dawned on Makoto. There was a group that might try to help him, despite their misguided attempts being the reason he had wandered out of the "safety" of the compound and all but killed by the storm. Could Leo be...?
"L-Leo-san...?"
It was very forced, but he managed to speak with enough volume that Leo would hear if he hadn't fallen asleep.

Leo whom had only just about dozed off, roused himself quickly when he heard that.
He didn't turn around, probably too tired to. "Yes, Makoto?"

Makoto seemed relieved Leo had heard him, enough that it threw him off for a few seconds. But he did finally form the words, "A-are you with the LoA?"
It would explain so much. The hatred of the Global Alliance and the pity he was taking on Makoto. As for acting like he didn't know things, that was understandable. He'd heard stories of how they handled refugees carefully... It was spoken of as an almost Promised Land by some of his cell mates. He hadn't ever believed in it, even after the events that took him to the island. But was it possible...?
What was even more amazing is the slight traces of what could have been hope in Makoto's voice as he asked his question. If Leo was with the League of Arcologies, it meant maybe he really was safe...
(OOC: Ouch. Dramatic Irony fails. >__> Poor Mako.)

... ... ... ... ... ...

'L...o... A?'
THIS was new. Burnin' Leo honestly had to admit, this was the first he had heard of such a thing. What did that even stand for anyways? He wanted to say that he wasn't familiar with such a name...
But hearing the hope in Makoto's voice changed his mind. In his mind, he was clearly having a debate. On the one hand, he could tell Makoto the truth and possibly risk him getting even more nervous then ever before. But the fact that this LoA thing (Whatever it was) seemed to calm Makoto was ringing in his mind. What could he say? If Makoto caught him in a lie, then it would only increase suspicions of him...
It was an uncomfortable silence.
"No, Makoto. This is the first I've heard of it." Good for you Leo. That was when he finally did look again, looking over his nonexistant shoulder. "But I'll tell you one thing, do you think that if Global Alliance is truely here, you'd still be here? That'd you'd still be safe? Pentral's been here longer then I have I think, and did he ever mention knowing Global Alliance before you said anything about it to him?"
He thought a moment. "If he hasn't I'm willing to guess Global Alliance doesn't exist here at all. That's a theory of course, but it could happen."

Makoto slumped a bit, but recovered as much as his psyche would let him as Leo continued on. The temptation to attempt to read Leo's mind without his permission was growing stronger. He didn't think he had much in the way of psychic defenses, judging from how badly he took the attack earlier. But it still rubbed him wrong. It was rude to invade peoples' minds like that.
"I don't know..." he said, sighing. Leo made some kind of sense, sure, but he'd seen people make mistakes before. Thinking they had the GA all figured out only to be killed for their ignorance. And now the other person was more confused than before. Maybe he should explain some things? Could he trust him that much?
Trust... what a concept. Makoto laid down and rolled over so he didn't have to look at Leo. This was making him think far more than he was used to. It wasn't like it would be hard to fall asleep. The kid probably had a sleep debt of several years.

Leo noticed this, "You need some sleep?" He sat himself up, and looked over to Makoto. "Go ahead, you most likely really need it. Who knows? It might even calm you down some."

Makoto did indeed fall asleep quickly, but it was not to end well. About half an hour into his sleep the nightmares returned. The subconcious attacks involving the pains of his memories. It didn't take long for them to reach their usual level, and about forty minutes after Leo had given him permission to go to sleep, the screams began.
We're not talking typical screams. Not even to the intensity of night terrors. The screams that came out and probably alerted the entire neighborhood, let alone Leo's sensitive ears, were those of a man being burned alive. The panicked and torturous screams that carried such inherent pain it almost hurt to hear them. Loud, long, and painful... and with them Makoto seemed to be folding into more of a fetal position than it would seem possible, as if his subconscious thought the pain would go away if he could only make himself smaller...

At first, Leo thought the screams would end in just a few moments, horrible as they were. But when they indeed did NOT, he instantly went into action.
Wearing a pair of earplugs (Which, by the way, DIDN'T help against the screams of someone being burned alive), Leo was standing over Makoto in a heart beat, trying to shake him awake. "Makoto? Makoto!! Wake up!! Come on kiddo, wake up!!!"
It was so much that he wanted to end Makoto's nightmare before it got any worse, but at this point, the knocks on the door by the disturbed neighbors were not helping anything. "Wake up!!!"

Makoto had tears running down his face by the time Leo reached him, but was obviously still asleep. The shaking finally seemed to have some effect and the teen woke up mid scream, the scream degrading into sobbing noises as he slowly came back to the world of the waking. He couldn't see clearly for the tears, but luck was on Leo's side by his basic appearance. Makoto could make out it was Leo thanks to the unique color scheme of the Dreamlandian compared to the rest of the room. His panicked tearful eyes simply became tearful as he coughed, continuing to sob.
The screams had at least stopped and it was evident Makoto was awake, but the hammering on the door continued. Makoto turned towards the door and panic flicked across his eyes once more. Still no explanation for the screaming, although it did seem the teen was trying to form words. The lingering fear and tears were making it impossible.

"Calm down... Calm down okay?" Leo said soothingly, "It's just the neighbors, I'll go handle them." He patted Makoto on the back and ran over to the door quickly. "Can I help you?"
The man at the door looked more then a little peeved at the yelling. "What the HELL was THAT about?!?!?!?! One second I'm reading a book, the next-" He shuddered. "I don't think I'll EVER forget that horrible screaming!! WHAT IS GOING ON IN THERE?!?!?!?!?"
Leo held up his hands defensively. "My tenant was just taking a nap and started having a nightmare. I apologize for the screaming but..." He scratched the back of his head bashfully. "Apparently he's had quite the history before landing in my hands."
The man started to calm down at this. "I... I see... But all the same... Whatever you are... Maybe you should keep a better eye on him. I think he may need sleeping meds or something like that."
Leo groaned a little. "I don't know. But don't worry I'll keep a better eye on him. By the by, do you think you can handle the other neighbors? Honestly I have WAY too many things to think about right now..."
The man considered this a moment... "Okay... I will. But try to keep this from happening again, I won't be able to give you a hand next time." And with that, he walked off.
Leo closed the door, groaning a little as he massaged his temples...
He was NOT cut out for this.

Makoto hadn't moved much more than a centimeter from where Leo had left him. He heard voices, but wasn't in a position to make out words. He had forgotten. One night of restful sleep and he had forgotten the nightmares. He couldn't believe he had let himself fall asleep so easily. Those memories... they always struck in his dreams. He'd never be able to outrun them, would he?
He was shivering, and it obviously wasn't from the cold. His back remained towards Leo. He'd never outrun the memories...
(OOC: There IS an in character reason for the nightmares. >__> Basically memories. *points to Makoto's app*)

"Hey... Hey Makoto..."
Leo appeared once more, jumping on to the bed and looking at the poor young man curiously. "That must've been one heck of a nightmare... Are you okay?"

Makoto shuddered again before working up the courage to look at Leo. Because for Makoto, even moving at this point took a level of courage. He shook his head, wiping his face with the sleeve of his t-shirt, creating a new smear in the dirt on his face with the little bit of tears that remained.
"I-I forgot..." he stuttered.

"Hey... Don't worry about it." Leo quickly said, it wasn't Makoto's fault for the bad memories, and Leo knew it... ... ... Well... Partially knew it anyways.
Moving on though, he decided to change the subject. "Ummm... So... I wonder what's on TV? You want to take a look? Might calm you down a little."

Makoto nodded. The stations in this world seemed to have more than the usual weather reports and such. But he didn't get up or move. He had to remember. He couldn't sleep unless he had to... he'd felt some of his powers return, though. Not much, but he could at least put up a fight if he had to.
