Full Name: Seto Kaiba
Nicknames: N/A
Age: 17
Height: 186 cm/~6'1"
Weight: 65 kg/~143 lb
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Home: Domino City, Japan
Franchise: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Physical Description
For his nationality, Kaiba is best described as freakishly tall. At 6'1", he'd be impossible to lose in a Japanese crowd even dressed like a "proper" businessman. When you consider he is sixteen and still has room to grow, it borders on frightening. Kaiba has an average complexion, and short brown hair.
Kaiba's hair has a bit of a helmet head thing going on. His bangs are neatly cut and fall just above his eyes. A single clump in the center falls down further than the rest of his bangs. It is at just enough of slant to angle without obstructing his vision. His hair tapers in the back to a point, the bottom part of which falls just past the base of his neck.
His eyes are harsh. They seem incapable of showing more than slight softness. He doesn't just seem like he is glaring most of the time, he usually is. He wears either a scowl or a smirk, even his smiles coming across as condescending nine times out of ten.
Kaiba's style tends to incorporate expensive fabrics mixed with a punk feel. He is well known for accessorizing with metal, studs, and belt straps of all things. He favors black and dark blue for the brunt of his wardrobe. Over his outfit he is known for wearing trenchcoats that seem to defy the laws of physics and the environment.
When he comes to the Island, he is wearing the outfit he is perhaps best known for. He has on a dark navy long sleeved shirt. It has a turtle neck and the shoulders are rather accented. The cuffs of his sleeves can't be seen because of the gauntlet-like pieces over his lower arms. They're tall, and fall just below interfering with the movement of his elbow and wrist. The main part is unpolished dark grey metal. They actually snap on, but are well enough made they seem seamless. An equal distance from either side is a lighter grey metal strip with studs the same dark grey as the main part.
His pants are black and are crisp denim. Like the shirt they are tight and hug his body rather well. They have been known for creating confusion as to how he moves so easily. He has on black leather boots that hug his body the way most of his outfit does. The boots don't have ties, but near the top is a blue belt-like strap. Its position allows even the top of the boots to hug his body. His pants are tucked in below the straps, which are attached just loose enough to prevent circulation from being cut off.
His trenchcoat is custom made and custom fitted. It looks it. It is white leather and splays starting from just above his waste, giving the illusion of a fluttering cape even in still air. The trenchcoat is lined in royal purple silk. At the hip area a spike like just extends from the front and back of the trenchcoat. The front has polished silver studs. They could snap together with either side on top due to the coat's construction, creating a closed top and splayed bottom effect, but Kaiba never closes it. The spikes extend up to the top of the coat.
The coat is sleeveless, but the shoulder areas are spiked and heavily accented. They are also bordered in silver studs, but these are purely decorational. The trenchcoat his a high collar, higher than even his turtle neck, the top coming to a level parallel to his cheekbones. It has silver studs around it. The left top of his trenchcoat, just below the collar, has a silver "KC", the logo of the Kaiba Corporation. Built into this is a receiver, Kaiba merely has to press and hold it to speak into it. Its useless if there is nothing in the dimension to connect to, however.
Kaiba has a sturdy dark grey leather belt. The buckle is a snap-type buckle and actually connects to both sides. The belt has small silver studs running along the top and bottom. The buckle is polished silver with the "KC" logo engraved into it, taking up most of the buckle. On his upper arms Kaiba has two blue belt straps attached with silver buckles. A fair bit of belt extends past the buckle.
His other prominent feature is wallet photo sized pendant modeled to look like the back of a Duel Monsters card. It is actually a custom designed photo frame, and he can press the side of it to flip it open. Inside is a picture of his little brother, Mokuba Kaiba, from nine years ago. The pendant has a half circle attached to the top of it the same color as the pendant's border. It hangs from Kaiba's neck via a high quality brown rope. The pendant is, in fact, the only guaranteed aspect of Kaiba's entire wardrobe.
Weapons
Kaiba's weapons are his Duel Monsters cards. This is not only in the sense of being able to summon the monsters within and cast the spells and traps, all in true physical manifestations, although he is able to do that once he learns how. Kaiba is frightening with his ability to use the cards as weapons. He is capable of doing so with all playing card sized cards.
What it comes down to is he can flip, fling, and flick the cards in almost supernatural ways. From a distance and in a flash he can flick a card to prevent a gun from firing. He can alter this skill to hit buttons too far to reach with the cards. He is even capable of flinging them with enough finesse and force to drive them into a person's skin, like paper razorblades. His accuracy with this skill is uncanny at the simplest.
His signature monsters are three copies of a card known as "Blue Eyes, White Dragon". To be precise, the only three versions of the card to exist in his home dimension, not counting the torn card that was in Sugoroku Mutou's care for some time. He is also known for summoning a more powerful monster by combining the three dragons. This is known as the "Blue Eyes, Ultimate Dragon".
Abilities/Powers
Seto's ability to summon Ka from his cards and utilize the power of his Ba to cast spells and traps could be considered a power. Of special note, he doesn't need to have the Blue Eyes cards on him to summon a single Blue Eyes, White Dragon. He doesn't know this at first, and there is a distinct reason why the power can go on the fritz.
He is also recognized by two of the seven Millennium Items as worthy. One of those two recognizes him as its true owner. So much so, in fact, that the Millennium Rod has granted him visions in the past in order to save his life. The other that accepts him is the Millennium Eye. Both of them were connected to him in his past life as Priest Set. The Millennium Rod was his own, and the Millennium Eye belonged to his father.
Skills
Kaiba has quite a few skills under his belt. The one he speaks of the most and is proudest of his his ability in the card game known as Duel Monsters. He is one of the world's greatest players at the game, and most can't even come close to beating him. The only one that has ever managed to do so consistently is a teenager the world knows as Yuugi Mutou. It is not out of the question, however, to rank Seto Kaiba as the world's second greatest player of the game.
He also has skills in things such as insider trading, business management, public relations, cloak and dagger machinations in regards to the business world, manipulation, blackmail, just about any skill that both a legitimate and shady businessman might have, Kaiba excels in. To top it off he is also a skilled hacker and an even better programmer, having created the "Solid Vision" system used for his Duel Disks from scratch.
His abilities to use playing cards as weapons also quite well qualifies. He is also capable of fluent English, but he doesn't use it unless he has to, being of the opinion those in the business world should speak both Japanese and English and owning a bit of good ole' fashioned Japanese ethnocentrism.
Personality
Kaiba has presence. In both the positive and negative meaning of the word. Among the Japanese he towers over those that would be his opponents. Among foreigners he stands tall enough to be on equal footing, making up for that "weakness" with attitude. Kaiba is a taker, never giving anything without one thousand strings attached.
He is arrogant, cocky, and often narrow minded. He is stubborn and vain, and even human lives are well known for running second to his agenda. He isn't a warmonger by any means, he doesn't start wars or seek all but a few individuals out for combat. He merely does not tolerate those that get in his way. He is loud, brash, and has an arrogant/rude way of speaking.
Kaiba is often irrational, as well. His pride is his greatest strength, he will never back down from an opponent. His pride is his greatest weakness, it prevents him from seeing what is going on in front of his face and often it takes a few figurative whacks upside the head to get him to think straight. He is a loner, and considers working in a team a weakness.
He has a competitive streak as long as Japan is tall. This causes him to never back down from a challenge, although he will strut about his superiority to most challengers. The disgusting part is it is well earned.
The teen is also a card carrying skeptic. He's not blind to the supernatural/paranormal. But he takes more than a bit of convincing to accept it is there. Like Scrooge from "A Christmas Carol", he uses excuses such as soured food to explain things. In all his years the paranormal and conspiracy theories he has accepted can be counted on one hand. And it took a good bit of figurative beating for him to accept them.
What the world often doesn't see, however, is his softer side. He is kind towards those he feels deserve it. This consists of one person, his little brother Mokuba. He is somewhat rabidly protective of the boy, more than willing to throw his life away for him. Kaiba is not incapable of kindness and tenderness, but he considers them weaknesses and has spent years suppressing those qualities.
History
Kaiba doesn't even know what his surname at birth was, having forgotten the detail as something unimportant. He knows his mother died giving birth to his little brother. His father died when he was eight and his family bickered amongst themselves over the brothers' inheritance before abandoning them at an orphanage.
When the owner of the mega-corporation known as KaibaCorp came to the orphanage, a ten year old Seto confronted him. The man was surprised at Seto's appearance, as it resembled the son he had lost some years ago. Seto operated under the impression Gozaburo was merely surprised by how forward he was, which is what the man claimed. He insisted that Gozaburo adopt him and his brother, and after some banter Gozaburo agreed he would do so if Seto could defeat him in a game of chess. He did, and quickly.
Kaiba was subjected to a harsh education. He would learn many years later it was all training to make him a worthy opponent of Gozaburo's deceased biological son, Noah. Before that encounter could come to fruition, however, Gozaburo gave a fourteen year old Kaiba a crapload of money and ordered him to exponentially increase it or be dismissed as the heir to Kaiba Corporation.
With underhanded methods that would make Rockefeller proud and manipulation of his younger brother Mokuba, Kaiba succeeded in the challenge. Beyond that, he managed to get the aid of his brother in attaining 51% of the shares of KaibaCorp stock. With that, he staged a hostile takeover of Kaiba Corporation. Kaiba put pressure on Gozaburo in a way that lead directly to the man's suicide.
Kaiba maintained interest in the card game known as Duel Monsters. In the six months following his takeover he managed to obtain a card that he had valued ever since he learned of the game. Three of four in existence, the "Blue Eyes, White Dragons". He placed himself in normal high school in attempts to gather more rare cards. It was through this he ended up in Domino High School, where he learns of the location of the fourth Blue Eyes, White Dragon. He is thwarted in his attempts to steal it by Yuugi Mutou (and the other personality even he isn't aware of).
In his rage over the loss, Kaiba sends four of the world's greatest gamers after Yuugi as he sets up his own revenge. These KaibaCorp "Shitenou" each fall to Yuugi's "other personality". Finally, Kaiba launches his revenge. In order to assure that Yuugi participates, he kidnaps the teenager's grandfather. Yuugi and his friends are forced to participate in the "Death-T" tournament, every game of which puts their lives on the line.
Kaiba loses to Yuugi's other personality in the final level of Death-T. By this point, "Dark Yuugi" has reached new levels of pissed. At the bequest of Mokuba, he attempts to save Kaiba. The President of Kaiba Corporation falls into a coma that lasts for several months. When he comes out of it, he quickly heads to the tournament of Duelist Kingdom to save his the brother the host of the tournament, one Pegasus J. Crawford, had kidnapped.
More events transpire over the next year or so. In Duelist Kingdom Kaiba gets his soul sealed into a card, but the efforts of Yuugi free him and his brother. He gets roped into a virtual RPG by a group of five traitorous former employees known as the "Big 5". He is then drawn to a museum by a woman from Egypt named Ishizu and given the "God Card" known as "THE GOD OF OBELISK" and information about the God Cards. To obtain the cards, he sets up Battle City. Smack dab in the middle of that he has to have the show down with the electronic specter of Noah Kaiba, the adoptive brother he never knew he had. He defeated Katsuya Jounouchi in an antagonized duel to win third place in Battle City. Next he was wrapped up as a Chosen Duelist in a fight against a demon raised in the lost era of Atlantis. Finally he was lured into a Dark Game run by Dark Bakura by none other than Dark Bakura himself.
The events of that span of seconds shook him rather badly. He accepted, and a bit better than begrudgingly, that he was reincarnated from an Ancient Egyptian Priest named Set and that Yuugi's other personality was a lost Pharaoh named Atem. Accepted in his head, he still barely admitted to it in person. And the event that shook him the most in that world was easily the encounter with the white haired woman named Kisara and her connection to the Blue Eyes, White Dragon.
She had seen him when no one else in the world could. She had addressed him as Set-sama. With the world programmed to speak in Japanese and the Japanese pronunciation of names, it sounded like Seto-sama. Kaiba had felt a pain in his chest unlike anything he had ever known when she said she was mistaken. When she said that perhaps they would meet again one day. It had returned in full force when she died in that world in connection to events surrounding Pharaoh Atem and Priest Set, although the outside world saw merely bitterness and annoyance at the world he was stuck in.
After he got out of the world, he had planned on going back to his American office and sleeping for a week, damn his job. He never got the chance to do that, as when he and Yuugi's group were heading out of the area, a cave in occurred. The time flux around the Island meant he would arrive later than the others, and be presented with more inarguable evidence of the paranormal...

I romanized how I prefer to romanize names in Yu-Gi-Oh!, hence "Set" for the priest rather than "Seto". The explanation why requires a crash course in katakana versus kanji that takes far too long to give. I have combined the canons of mainly the original and Duel Monsters anime. Manga canon is used only as a spice. Japanese canon is used in all cases.
I am apping him a few hours early, but it was the previous Friday to this one I apped my last character. And none of us care about a few hours either way on this board, anyhow.
