Full Name: Luke fon Fabre
Nicknames: Dreck, Inferior Replica, and other such insulting nicknames adopted by Asch to avoid using Luke's name.
Age: 20 (biologically), 10 (technically)
Height: 171 cm (approx. 5'7")
Weight: 68 kg (approx. 150 lbs)
Gender: Male
Race: Human Replica
Alliance: Good
Home: Baticul, Kimlasca-Lanvaldear, Auldrant
Franchise: Tales of the Abyss
Physical Description: Luke is a fairly normal looking human with red hair and blue eyes. His hair is rather noticeably long, and goes down almost past his hips. However, it's different from the hair he had before the events on Eldrant. The hair before faded to a light color at the ends, while his hair now fades to a darker color. This is due to his merging with Asch, as Asch's hair had the darker tips.
As far as clothing goes, Luke typically wears a white and gold half-shirt/trenchcoat type top, black pants, and red shoes. The top exposes his stomach, but the two sides also go down to his feet. Under the top, Luke wears a black shirt that also exposes his stomach. The sheath that Luke keeps the Key of Lorelei in is strapped to the back of his pants, and hangs from his gold belt.
Weapons: Luke typically uses one-handed swords, but his main weapon is now the Key of Lorelei, which, despite its name, is very much a sword. The Key of Lorelei looks like a three bladed sword, with the two outer blades forming the shape of a tuning fork.
Abilities/Powers: Luke has the ability to cause a hyperressonance, a which is what happens when two seventh fonons, especially isofons, interact. Unlike most hyperressonances, which require two Seventh Fonists to activate, Luke can cause one on his own. This is due to the fact that he is the isofon of the aggregate sentience of the Seventh Fonon itself, Lorelei, and thus he can cause hyperressonances just by interacting with the Seventh Fonons in the air. This power has become much stronger since Luke absorbed his original's fonons, and he tends to avoid using it in battle now because of the possibility that he may actually wipe his foe out of existence by making a hyperressonance so strong that the fonons making up their body break apart.
Skills: Unlike the example in the form, Luke is not a good cook, which has a lot to do with his sheltered lifestyle. In fact, as far as skills go, Luke's only real skills are those with the sword, which he trained heavily in because there was literally nothing else to do at his manor.
Personality: Luke was a spoiled brat, which was pretty much how you could describe him before he decided he was going to change. Because he's pretty much mentally a ten year old, he's prone to making irrational decisions, though before he decided he wanted to live, they were because he wanted to give his life meaning. And while he means well, Luke is prone to foot-in-mouth decisions, mostly caused by his ignorance of the world and people around him. He's actually pretty ignorant about a lot of things, but he's trying to fix that.
History: Many years ago, the fonist Yulia Jue used the Seventh Fonon to read the future of the world to come. She wrote this future down as the Score, and as long as the world followed this Score, it would lead to prosperity. In the Score, Yulia prophesied that in ND 2000, a boy would be born in the royal family and would be named "Light of the Sacred Flame" (which, in Ancient Ispanian, translates to, quite simply, Luke) and would lead the kingdom of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear to new prosperity. The Score came true, and the red-haired boy was born to Duke Fabre and his wife, Suzanne, a member of the royal family who had married the Duke. They named their son Luke, and it was eventually discovered that he had special abilities. It was figured out rather quickly that he was the boy spoken of in the Score. In ND 2010, when Luke was ten years old, he was kidnapped. After an extensive search, he was found within Choral Castle, a summer home of his father's that was just inside Malkuth Empire territory. As such, the kidnapping was blamed on the Malkuth Empire. When Luke was found, though, the trauma of the incident had been so great, he had lost literally all of his memories, down to being unable to walk, and somehow, the kidnapping lead to Luke starting to get massive migraines out of the blue. The cause was never identified, but it was usually blamed on it being something that Malkuth did to him while he was kidnapped. After Luke was brought back to his manor, his servant and soon to be friend Guy Cecil was left in charge of his care and education.
Several years later, Luke, still unable to leave the manor by order of his uncle the king, has grown to be a spoiled brat who looks forward to nothing else but the arrival of his sword trainer, Van Grants, the Commandant of the Oracle Knights. One day, while Van was visiting to train Luke, Van's sister, Tear Grants, broke into the manor and attempted to kill Van. Luke instead got in the way, and it was then that Luke discovered his ability to use the seventh fonon, though not the true nature of his ability. At the moment where Luke and Tear's weapons impacted, their Seventh Fonons interacted and caused a hyperresonance, sending Luke and Tear flying across Auldrant to Tataroo Valley. From there, Luke and Tear were forced to work together to return to Baticul. Along the way, Luke ended up getting arrested by Jade Curtiss, a colonel in the Malkuth armed forces, and eventually ended up being involved with Fon Master Ion, who was working to prevent a war between Kimlasca and Malkuth that Grand Maestro Mohs supported. Eventually Luke met up Guy, and had Anise Tatlin, Ion's personal guard, join up with their group. After a tense meeting with Van at the border, Van temporarily joins up with the group.
It is on the trip to Baticul by sea that Luke once again causes a hyperresonance, this time on his own and without intending to. During the trip, while Luke is out on the deck of the ferry, Luke suddenly gets another headache and starts hearing a voice in his head. As the voice speaks, Luke loses control of his body and is forced to start using a hyperresonance on the boat he's in. Van manages to come out and stop Luke from destroying the boat. It is after Luke wakes up again that Van explains things to Luke. Luke is a hero spoken of in the Score that is supposed to bring prosperity to the world using his power of hyperresonance. If Luke saves the world, he will be free from his manor and will be regarded as a great hero.
The group eventually makes it back to Baticul, where Van is arrested as it is believed that he is responsible for Luke's disappearance this time. Luke goes to see his uncle the king, and in exchange for Van's release, Luke will be an ambassador and save the people of the mining town of Akzeriuth, who have been trapped and are slowly dying because of the miasma. Luke and his group travel to Akzeriuth, but the rest of the group don't know that Luke has been convinced by Van that he needs to use his hyperresonance on the Sephiroth in Akzeriuth in order to get rid of the miasma. By the time the others realize that Van is manipulating Luke in order to destroy Akzeriuth, it's too late, and the others only survive because of one of Tear's fonic hymns. The entire population of Akzeriuth is killed as the town falls into the Qliphoth. Because the landship called the Tartarus fell into the Qliphoth as well, the group manages to escape on the Tartarus to a town in the Qliphoth called Yulia City. On the way there, the group has decided Luke is an Asshole, needs to take responsibility for the fact that he killed over ten-thousand people, and isn't worth keeping around. The entire party, including his fiance Natalia and his best friend Guy, leave him at Yulia City. Things only get worse for Luke as he discovers he's not the real Luke. He's actually a replica of the original Luke, who is now one of the Six God-Generals and goes by the name of Asch, and was only created so Asch could be kidnapped without anyone noticing. After getting his ass royally beat by Asch, Luke spends a large amount of time in a depression shock before finally deciding he's tired of his old self and decides to change for the better, which he shows to Tear by cutting his long luscious locks off.
Eventually, Luke joins back up with the rest of the group to prove himself to them, and they discover a method to save the Outer Lands, which are in danger of falling into the Qliphoth, using the Sephiroph and Luke's hyperresonance. The group lowers the various lands of the Outer Lands into the Qliphoth, which also seals the miasma safely underground. At the final Sephiroth, Luke's group defeats Van, and supposedly, Van falls into the core of the planet. The Outer Lands are finally lowered with help from Asch, and while Luke and Asch lower the last of the Outer Lands, they both hear the voice of Lorelei, who tells them to accept the Key of Lorelei, because "the one who would seize glory" is trying to capture him.
A month after the Outer Lands are lowered, Luke and Mieu (a cheagle who became indebted to Luke over his journey and now has to serve him for one year) decide to catch up with the rest of the group. It is during a trip to Daath that Luke discovers Van's sword has disappeared from the Absorption Gate and that the planet's core is starting to vibrate again, which will cause the crust to liquefy and the miasma to reappear. It is during this same trip to Daath that Ion is kidnapped and Anise is outed as a spy for Mohs. Soon after that, Ion is forced to read the Planet Score and is killed from the amount of energy it took for him to read it. His body dissolves into fonons in Luke's arms.
Because the Miasma is still there, the group now has to find a new way to get rid of it. One is discovered, but it requires the deaths of over ten-thousand Seventh Fonists. A replacement is found: replicas. There are now thousands of replicas wandering Auldrant who were created by Mohs. This method would also require a massive hyperresonance to pull off, and the person doing the hyperresonance would surely die. Because only Luke and Asch can make a hyperresonance on their own, they are the only candidates. Asch tries to do it, but Luke reaches him at the Tower of Rem, where Luke pushes Asch out of the way, takes the Sword of Lorelei, and starts trying to use the replicas to destroy the miasma. However, it begins to fail because Luke actually absorbed the other half of the Key of Lorelei, the Jewel of Lorelei, into his body, and it requires Asch's help to stabilize things. Miraculously, Luke and Asch both survive. However, Jade is still worried about Luke, and takes him to Belkend to get a medical examination. The news isn't good. Luke's replica body, which is held together by Seventh Fonons, has begun to break apart, and he will soon die. Luke tries to keep this a secret from the others, but they all figure things out on their own.
Soon after this, the group is forced to stop the Planet Storm, an artificial system set up in ancient times to amplify fonic artes in order to drop a barrier around Eldrant, a replica of the island of Hod that Van is continuing his plans to replicate the entire planet in order to free it from the Score. Eventually, the group makes it into Eldrant, and soon after entering, Luke falls into a trap and meets up with Asch. They duel for the final time to decide who is the real Luke. Luke wins, and proceeds forward to fight Van while Asch holds off the advancing replica Oracle Knights. Luke regroups with his party, but soon after, he receives a vision of Asch being killed by the replica knights as Asch sends the last of his energy into Luke. There's no time to grieve, though, as Sync, one of the God-Generals, attacks the group then, and after a long fight, is taken down.
From there, the group makes it to the top of Eldrant, where Van, who has Lorelei trapped within his body, waits for Asch, but instead gets Luke. Van, who never really considered Luke to be a real person, is surprised, but fights the group anyways. Van is finally defeated due to the combination of Luke's Key of Lorelei and Tear's Fonic Hymns, and once Van is dead, Luke stays behind to free Lorelei. He is then given a very tearful goodbye from the entire party, who knew all along that he was dying, and they urge him to return. The last one to talk to Luke is Tear, who tells him to come back no matter what. As Tear turns to leave, she whispers something she hadn't told him over the course of the entire game: "I love you."
Once the party has left, Luke destroys Eldrant using the Key of Lorelei and sends it flying to the ground. As Eldrant falls apart, Luke is engulfed by a blinding light and starts sinking into the ground, surrounded by a forcefield created by a grateful Lorelei. During Eldrant's breaking apart, Asch's body falls into the forcefield, and after sinking into it, falls into Luke's arms. It is at this point that a phenomenon known as the Big Bang occurs, and Luke and Asch's bodies merge. Luke takes Asch's body, but the consciousness is Luke's due to the fact that Asch is already dead.
A year passes, and Luke is presumed dead, either from the fall of Eldrant or his slowly separating Seventh Fonons. On the day of Luke's coming of age ceremony, Tear goes to Tataroo Valley, where she's met by the rest of the party, who have no interest in going to what's essentially a glorified funeral for Luke. Eventually, the group turns to leave, as the valley is dangerous at night. However, Tear hears someone moving through the flowers, and turns around, only to see what is quite plainly Luke walking toward her, though with much longer hair and a different outfit from what he had worn on Eldrant.
Some time after Luke's reappearance, Luke realized that even though the Planet Storm had stopped and most fonic artes had already begun to weaken, his hyperressonances (which were now Second Order hyperresonances due to Asch strengthening them with his last breaths) were still as strong as ever. While looking into it with Tear's help, Luke accidentally caused a hyperressonance that once again sent him and Tear flying. However, unlike before, when Luke was just sent across the world, this one managed to send him across dimensions to the Dimensional Island.
Other: The history and powers section both contain a fair amount of unmarked fanon, especially in the last part of the history, as the game not only doesn't explain which Luke you're seeing at the end, but it ends as Luke appears at Tataroo Valley again.
