(OOC: I'm attempting to start a plot with this character AGAIN. Stupid pltos with my Chrono Trigger characters dying. D:<
I'll be getting that OC I mentioned tomorrow. :3)
Tara, Ion, Ellie, and Canary were all on the lowest floor of the castle. They had no way of knowing it, but they were in fact standing right above the one of many "torture chambers" the castle had. Other things they could not know was back when the castle had been inhabited by the living, the torture room had been small and rarely used. The queen of the kingdom had disliked methods such as that, and had functioned as the king's closest advisor. At least until the mage that would bring the kingdom to its ruin had shown up.
In any case, directly below them was a torture chamber. There were many spirits moving around down there. Since the day the demon known as Belphegor had been killed, things had changed. A presence long since sealed had been awoken, and in the past week or so it had been bringing its former followers back into line once more. However, the surge of energy was not of a undead sort. It was of a more empty sort, like the void.
In that chamber below where the group was standing, a portal had opened up over a torture rack. The portal was royal blue as opposed to the standard black, although the electric sparks dancing over it were black. It seemed like any other portal beyond that, as even the blue moved in the same void-like miasma method the standard portals would. The few spirits that remained in the room went to the far corners to observe.
A girl of average height dressed in what most would call pseudo-medieval garb was spit out of the portal. She had what could be called the world's most insane helmet on. Her glasses were large, round, and made it clear she was completely blind without them for how they magnified her eyes. A bit of her magenta-purple hair stuck out from under the hat. Her eyes were wide as the small laspe of awareness ended. They widened even more as sher back landed on one of the shackles of the rack. It arched up and she jerked tot he side. She managed to not faceplant as she landed on the ground.
The spirits were unsure what to make of it, so they continued their observation. The girl seemed to be a teenager. A teenager in pain as she winced and hissed and shook a little despite being tense from the pain. After a few minutes she managed to sit up, although she had to adjust twice to avoid her various bags, weapons, and tools from sticking into her. She grabbed the right temple of her glasses and pulled them up. She blinked as she looked at what seemed to be an area of her time's Guardia Castle. She winced as she pushed herself up to her feet.
It couldn't be her era. She'd fallen through a Gate, after all. Gates weren't about transporting a person from one area in the same time to another. She adjusted her gun and pulled out the hammer just in case something jumped her. It tended to be more reliable than the gun, anyhow. She glanced around. This place didn't feel right for Guardia Castle. It seemed far colder... in both the literative and figurative sense.
"Is anyone there?"
----------
Magus pushed open a door. He'd tried three already, but he'd underestimated how run down the castle was. Another issue was it was clear a pretty intense fight had taken place here. There were long decayed skeletons all over the place. Most of them were wearing clothes and armor, although the former was rotted away in many cases. Considering the amount of long dead skeletons, it was a wonder the only place with ghosts was the basement.
The door he had tried was finally something he could find himself being satisfied with. He tested how sturdy a stool was before sitting down on it. He balanced his weapon against the wall before letting out a sigh. The group had offered to help him find Schala, who one of them knew far too much about. She'd used the name he'd been known by as a child as well, unaware that as far as he concerned the one named Janus was long since dead.
He believed what had been said. He was in another dimension, fine. What he didn't like was the possibility that he was now not only years away from his sister, but worlds away as well. Ion had suggested that Schala may be in this world, but he found it hard to believe. Lavos was not an entity of dimensions. Of planets, yes. Of times, possibly. Of dimensions, though?
He'd let the group play their little game. If the whole lot got killed he wouldn't care, and their naivete about battles could lead to that. It was more than a slight possibility in his mind. There was no need to help them, fools were better off going to an early grave.

Ellie and Ion both followed Tara into the large cavernous throne room. Ellie marveled at the size, while Ion walked around a bit.
"Alright, so now we've gotta just find the way to the kitchen, right? Piece of cake!" Ellie said, and winked. She started looking around the room herself, running to a door and opening it up, glancing down the hallway. It seemed a bit odd that the torches were lit in here. Ion was still wandering around.
He was nearby one of the openings to the hallways when he heard a voice emanate from somewhere below them due to being near a staircase entrance. He looked at the door to the stairway before opening it up. Ellie turned toward him.
"Ion, where are you going?" Ellie asked.
"I heard someone's voice from behind this door," Ion said. He opened the door and looked inside. "It looks like it's the stairway that leads to the basement of this castle."
Ellie paled. "Ion! That's where the ghosts are!" she warned. Ion smiled.
"Don't worry. I'll be okay," Ion said, and headed downstairs.
"Iooooooooooooonn!" Ellie called. She facepalmed. "He's always doing this! Agh. That princess comparison makes more sense with every day I hang out with him."
-------------
Ion slowly walked down the stairs. Unlike the rest of the castle, which was lit by flickering torches, the stairs down to the torture chambers were dark and slippery. Ion found himself hoping it was just the damp that these kind of areas tended to have and not something more gruesome. He held his staff out in front of him defensively. He could only hope that if something attacked him, he'd be okay.
"Hello?" Ion called out, hoping for a response. He couldn't see worth a darn in here, though. If something jumped out at him, he wouldn't be able to defend himself.

"Yup. Should be," Tara replied as she made her way over to the throne itself. There were a few stone stairs leading up to the raised platform, a moth-eaten red carpet covering the direct center and most of the platform itself. Two high-backed, wooden chairs were all that occupied the space, one of which had most of the back smashed off. The remains of it were numerous wooden splinters and chunks scattered about behind the platform. "Okay... if I remember right... it should be stairs on the left..." she murmured.
Tara looked to her left and saw said staircase, leading up to a balcony that looked over the throne room as well as a few second floor rooms. Probably the private quarters for the royalty who had occupied this castle and sat in these very thrones. "Yup. And to the right should be a door leading to the dining hall..." she continued. Tara looked to her right, but frowned when all she saw on the wall was a dusty, old tapestry. "Aw, man. I thought for sure it would be... hey, wait a minute..."
She frowned, brows furrowing as she made her way over to the tapestry and examined it. Its brilliant scarlet color had faded over time, and the battle between a dragon and knight it portrayed looked more like a kid poking a snake with a stick. "No way. That's the oldest trick in the book. It couldn't be..." Tara muttered, reaching out to move the tapestry. However, Ellie's sudden shout caught her attention, and she looked over to find Ion gone. "What the-? Oh, he didn't! He went downstairs, didn't he?! Damnit! He's not even armed!"
Quickly looking around, she caught sight of two suits of armor that had been hidden from view by the thrones. Tara ran over to them, grinning when she saw that they held genuine weapons. One held a mace, while the other held a spear. "Hey, Ellie! Over here! Grab the mace and let's go rescue the princess!!" she called, grasping the spear's shaft. Giving it a fierce pull with all of her weight thrown into it, the weapon flew out of the knight's rusted gauntlet. Of course, the suit of armor wound up crashing to the stone floor, creating a horrible racket.
"...Ooops...?"

Tara underestimated how thick castle walls were. Magus didn’t hear a thing. The man stood up and hoisted the stool up. He moved it over to a wall. The sun had almost completely set by now. He pulled off his cloak and held it up against the small openings of the window. Small to prevent weapons from getting through, no doubt. He grabbed his scythe and placed it up against the top of his cloak, allowing the weight to hold the piece of clothing there. It created a shade of sorts.
He sat back down on the stool and leaned his head back. He’d never been a heavy sleeper. He was sure that one gun using girl had thought the only one who’d seen her run off was the robot, but it hadn’t been. Magus had just chosen to say nothing that night. Not his business if she ran off, and if anyone was going to protect her it was that robot. His eyes closed and he began to drift to sleep.
----------
“You seem rather lost.”
The teenager named Lucca jerked her head up and her eyes got wide. She had asked, but she hadn’t thought anyone was there. It was very dark in here, she was having trouble making out shapes. She caught movement out of the corner of her eye. She transferred her hammer to her left hand and pulled out the Wondershot. Better unreliable than nothing for a distance shot. A very tall man stepped into her range of site. A very tall man.
“In the name of... don’t scare me like that!”
“My apologies, young lady. No one is supposed to be down here, may I ask the reason for the intrusion?”
Lucca blinked as she looked at the man. He was rather skinny, very tall, and had silver hair longer than what Magus sported. His entire outfit was more ornate, and his black cloak was something else. He had to be nobility, no one but nobles dressed like that. He seemed to be waiting for a response and she remembered she hadn’t answered.
“Oh, right! Um... well, I kind of got teleported here...”
If Ion found them now, he’d see the back of the tall man’s cloak first.
(OOC: He looks like his physical form does in his application. XD I’m being lazy.)

Ellie unsheathed the claws in her sleeves. "Nah, I'm good. I've already got a weapon. I learned how to fight from playing Mortal Kombat for 48 hours a day. On the bad side, I can't do math anymore." It was possible she was kidding. Possibly. She winced as the suit of armor fell to the ground, and then changed her mind and grabbed the mace from the non-fallen suit of armor.
"Come on. We've got a princess to save!" Ellie yelled, and rushed ahead of Tara in true Leeroy fashion, heading straight for the stairs. "ION I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU'RE IN ANOTHER CASTLE I'M GONNA KILL YOU!"
--------------
Ion had managed to make it down the stairs without falling, thankfully enough. Once he reached the bottom of the stairs and he was confident he could do this without falling, he concentrated Seventh Fonons around the tuning fork piece of the staff, and it began to lightly glow. There, at least he could see somewhat. He could also hear voices coming from a room directly in front of him, so Ion walked forward.
The light in the room he had entered seemed to be a bit better. Hence, Ion managed to actually see who was in front of him. Just a bit, though. The large cape the man was wearing was in the way. He seemed to be speaking to someone.
"Um, excuse me..." Ion asked hesitantly. He wasn't sure who this man was, but something didn't seem quite right about him.

Tara blinked in surprise when claws shot out of Ellie's sleeves, though her eyes soon lit-up with awe. "Cool! God, wish I could do that," she replied. She sweatdropped at the Mortal Kombat comment, deciding not to correct her on the off chance that she was joking. Tara nudged her way out of the scattered armor as Ellie ran over, grabbing the mace anyway. She was a little upset that she had done so without the disturbing the armor, though.
She snorted as she ran after the other girl, loving the princess comments. In fact, Tara outright burst into a fit of giggles at the reference. "How many castles are around here, anyway?" she called. However, just as she was making her way down the slippery stairs, she, well, slipped. "FUCK!" Tara, of course, crashed into Ellie's back thanks to gravity, sending the both of them tumbling down the stairs and making more noise than a stampede in a fine china shop.

“Teleported you say? Well, I suppose that is possible. However, it does not change that you are, in fact, trespassing upon these grounds. You should not...”
Lucca looked a bit nervous as the man continued. Yeah, she was trespassing. He was right, how she got there didn’t change things. She looked at the area around her. It seemed like a dungeon in here. That man couldn’t be a simple guard, he had to be a noble. He wasn’t wearing anything she could imagine any member of the Guardia line wearing at any point in history, either. She had opened her mouth to ask if he could just guide her out when he trailed off. She blinked as the man turned around.
“And who might you be? Oh, perhaps you are aquainted with this young lady?”
The man took a step back and gestured. His fingers were rather long and thin. Then again, his movement moved his cloak just enough to reveal how skinny he was. He’d looked rather skinny even with the heavy cloak of the sort only a noble would wear. He was rather painfully skinny. It didn’t appear he could lose even ten pounds without reaching unhealthy. Lucca looked up as the man addressed someone else and she saw a boy dressed something like the people of Zeal might have dressed. She had lowered her weapons by this point.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know him. Couldn’t you just overlo-”
And then there was a series of crashing noises. Lucca winced at the noise. If that had been people, they’d probably hurt themselves. The tall man raised an eyebrow. My, it was busy all of a sudden wasn’t it? He leaned forward to peer at where the noise had come from. He saw the two individuals to the back. He glanced at Ion for a moment. Well, if more people arrived it could get awfully crowded.
The corner of the man’s mouth raised in a dark smirk. He waved his hand and let it drop quickly to his side. Anyone with spirit sense would realize something damn cold had just shot from either side of the man, and those with the right kind of magic sense would realize something like death had surged in the man’s aura. And then the door that Tara and Ellie had just come through slammed shut with enough force to shake dust off it. The area they were in was engulfed in darkness aside from the small areas of light granted by the single torch and Ion’s staff... and oddly, Ion’s staff seemed to be putting off more light than the torch, although even it was a bit on the weak side.
Lucca’s eyes widened as the area was covered in darkness. At least the boy’s staff was giving off some light. She took a step back and felt her back hit the wall. Could she take the time to cast a spell? If the man had put out the lights like that, he could probably see in the dark... and then the dark chuckling started.
“Considering that you can clearly use magic, I find myself wondering what inspired you into coming down here...” the man said, addressing Ion.

Ellie had hit the ground very badly. Canary fell off her head with a chirp, and Ellie was suddenly afraid that Canary might have gotten squished by Tara's giant butt (not meant in any offensive way, Ellie added in her head) before she heard the bird chirping like crazy to her side. Damn, she should have left Canary upstairs. She forgot about his high sensitivity to spirits. And they were in the basement.
"Aw, fuck," Ellie grumbled. She attempted to pull herself out from under Tara when she suddenly felt something cold move throughout the room, and the door slammed shut behind her and Tara. "Oh FUCK." She moved fast, grabbing Canary and pulling herself out from under Tara at the same time.
Ion had shuddered as he felt the energy move through the room. It felt like... death. This man was a powerful fonist, that much was clear. He gulped and clutched his staff, the only source of light in the room due to the fact that the torch Tara had been carrying had gone out, tightly to his body.
"I heard someone talking down here, and I got worried," Ion said. He looked around. "Please, I don't want to fight if we don't need to."
Ellie had dropped the mace on the ground, and wasn't bothering to grab it again. She had unsheathed the claws in her sleeves.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. This isn't good. Can't waste time trying to open that door; it's probably locked because this is probably a fucking ambush room, and not only that, it's dark, I can't see worth a shit... and there's ghosts wandering around," Ellie mumbled to herself. Canary would have to be her eyes. Lucky her.
...And the bird had just pooped on her head too. Joyous.

"Oooh... damn..." Tara groaned, both torch and spear having fallen from her grip during her epic fall. At least Ellie had softened the landing, though she still found herself dazed and winded. The torch, hitting the ground, had fizzled out and left them in a sort of half-darkness. The only light was from Ion's staff and the open doorway leading to the throne room above.
Tara could hear that annoying canary chirping away beside them, and mumbled an annoyed "shut up" even though she knew it was for a good reason. She could feel Ellie trying to crawl out from under her, and was just trying to get up herself when a deep chill suddenly swept past them. Even with her hoody on, she shuddered badly, got goosebumps, and even had every hair on her body stand on end. Of course, when Tara heard the door slam, she screamed and scrambled to her feet. First thing she did was tighten her ponytail, and second was to snatch up the dropped spear.
"Okay. So we're obviously now trapped in the basement, which is full of ghosts, zombies, wraiths, and skeletons who all want to eat our flesh, drink our blood, and suck the marrow from our bones. Also, there are probably a shit load of booby traps like pitfalls and giant boulders and random ground spikes. Sure, there's the off-chance of treasure, experience, and glory- not to mention rubbing this in Magus's face- but there's also a high probability of death. Painful, agonizing death."
Swallowing hard, Tara's grip on her spear tightened as she finally finished her rant and realized how dark it was. Without another wasted second, she practically bowled Ellie and the canary over so that she could stand beside Ion and his light. "Dear God I'm gonna die. I hate the dark, Ihate thedark, Ihatethedark. Jesus, this is the end. No extra lives. No checkpoints. No save files. No reset button. No medkits or defibrilators or pills or adrenaline shots... not even a fucking bow and silver arrows. Or a shotgun. I have a spear. A fucking spear. Christ, where's the pause button when you need it?"
--------------
Alex breathed hard as he sprinted through the dense underbrush of the lush forest, running faster than any normal human being. Red and black strings of energy surrounded his legs as he pumped them up and down, the virus changing his genetics so that he could run at such a speed without his leg muscles tearing themselves apart. He was running so fast and so hard that he tore a slight groove into the dirt, ripping foliage to pieces and narrowly dodging trees. Alex had been running like this for a while now, and wasn't tired in the least. He had no need for rest, and his only nourishment came from those he absorbed.
Noticing that the trees were beginning to thin out, he focused even more viral energy into his legs as he crouched down into his sprint. A pulse passed throughout his body and in that instant Alex sprung high into the air, above the treetops from the waist up and able to see what lyed ahead. He saw a crumbling castle surrounded by a dried-up moat, and instantly his curiosity was peaked. Perhaps there were people still living there, people who knew who and what he was and what had happened to him. For some reason, this setting didn't feel right, and Alex wanted to know why.
Deciding to stay airborne, he zipped forward in mid-air and then stretched out into a glide, once more aided by the virus as it messed with his genetics to allow this death-defying feat. He did this until he began to drop, and zoomed forward once more before breaking into a fresh glide. Using this method, Alex was able to land smack dab in front of the gaping entrance to the castle, though not in a very subtle manner. Because of his height, his landing formed a crater in the earth and sent a light shockwave out around him. Unbothered by this, he leapt effortlessly across the moat and into the courtyard, though the smell instantly made him grimace.
Obviously, there had been death here on a high scale, but for some reason it didn't bother Alex aside from the smell. Not even sparing the scene a second glance, he made a light sprint to the actual front door of the castle and entered the large main hallway. Glancing at his new, unfamiliar surroundings for a moment, he first tapped into his infected vision. Seeing no signs of the virus, Alex moved to his thermal vision, but saw no nearby signs of anything living. Returning to normal vision, he frowned and began making his way down the hallway. "Hello? Is anyone here?" he called, hoping for a reply.

Magus opened one eye as he felt a slight tremor go through the area. He waited to see if anything else would come of it and it didn't. He adjusted the position he was sitting in and closed his eyes again. If it was an earthquake, it was nothing to be concerned about. Even on the off chance it wasn't, anything that made that kind of announcement upon arrival would make itself known. It wasn't like he didn't have one ear turned towards his environment while asleep, anyhow...
----------
The "fonist" gave a dark grin that showed teeth. They were very minor, but his canines were just accented enough that it was noticable. Ion's light illuminated the area just enough that the man's face could be seen. In fact, it was more than a bit similar to the b-horror movie effect one could create on their face with a flashlight. The only difference was that they were actually in a life threatening situation, and as Tara had so eloquently put it, they were lacking in video game commodoties.
"If you do not wish to fight, I have not an intention one of forcing you to do so. Please understand that will play no impact upon what I intend to do to you and your little trespassing friends..."
"Leave him alone!"
A clicking sound could be heard from the far back of the room. It had been where the girl from before had been standing. Out of nowhere a stream of fire suddenly shot into the air. The darkness seemed to oppress the light and it extended only a bit past Ion, but for a glorious few seconds the girl was more than a bit visible. Anyone that was looking in her direction would realize she was wielding an odd construct of metal. It looked like a fucking homemade flamethrower. The light receded back until only a small flame stuck out from the top of it. It was just enough that Lucca could see the man. She pointed the mouth of the device at him.
"Let. Us. Go."

Ellie agreed with every word that had just come out of Tara's mouth. Especially considering the situation they were in. Especially considering that bastard's face. That guy, despite looking like he was outta some kind of B-movie was entirely serious, and he was creeping Ellie the fuck out. He reminded her more than a tad bit of some of the Doppelgangers she'd met in a dark alley. None of those encounters had ended well.
"Look here, asshole, put one hand on any of us, and so help me, I'll rip your smug face off your head, you got that?!" Ellie snarled. And then she had heard the clicking noise. She looked past the man toward where she heard the clicking noise from, and jumped back as the flames soared past Ion. Ion didn't move, but took the momentary distraction to start casting. He stuck his staff down into the ground, and an absolutely massive magical circle formed in the room, lighting it up.
"O choir of Lorelei, spirit of memory, I call upon thy blessing to grace me with thy power and seal thou who shalt threaten thy earthly servant," Ion chanted. "Violent strains that render demons to ashes, thou who wouldst take revenge, carve here thy holy seal and shake this land to its roots. Harmonic Tremor!"
Ion slammed his hand to the ground and a blast of energy burst up from the magic circle itself. The spell was not only seventh fonon based, but sixth fonon based, so it was entirely possible the blast of light fonons would hurt the man badly. And even if the light fonons didn't do anything... well, it was magic. And spirits could be harmed by magic. The force of the spell itself also left a massive crater in the ground which formed the moment the spell let off, causing Ellie to stumble as the ground fell out from under her. Ion breathed heavily for a moment before collapsing. Ellie ran to grab him.
"I-I'm okay," Ion said.
"You better damn well be. And that guy better damn well not be," Ellie growled.

Alex was getting mildly annoyed now as he continued down the seemingly endless hallway. Normally, he would have just sprinted down it, but he was trying to keep an eye out for heat signatures using his thermal vision. Unfortunately, all of the torches were setting it off and confusing him, so he had to keep his gaze low. After what seemed like an eternity, Alex finally caught a different heat signature up ahead. It was larger and broader, and wasn't as bright as the torches.
He was sure that it had to be some living being, and as he got closer, he was sure it had to be some sort of humanoid. Momentarily switching to his infected vision, Alex made sure the creature wasn't some kind of infected. Finding it not to be, he returned to his normal vision and found himself standing in front of a door. Blinking in slight surprise, he shrugged and simply walked right inside. Common courtesy and subtlety were two things Alex Mercer didn't give much thought and consideration to.
----------------
The look that the man had on his face, coupled with the lighting, almost made Tara scream all over again. He reminded her of quite a few video game bosses she'd dealt with, though he looked the most like a certain boss from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. If one hadn't noticed yet, she was quite obsessed with this RPG game. Anyway, he was a lot like this skeleton king Tara had battled in some Ayleid ruins, who had shot fire at her until she'd killed him with a few well-aimed silver, enchanted arrows. God, she wished she had that bow and those arrows now; or at least the skeleton's wicked cool fire staff.
She was pulled out of her thoughts as the man spoke, talking about intending to do something to little trespassing... friends... "Crap. He means us, doesn't he?" Tara grimaced, and was about to ask what exactly he intended to do when another female voice spoke up from behind him. Suddenly, flames shot out of seemingly nowhere and she yelped, jumping off to the side and out of harms way. "Jesus dude! Could you not fry all of us?!" she called, heart pounding in her chest.
Once the fire had receded, Tara got a good look at the girl, and her jaw instantly dropped. Glancing at the homebrewed potato gun strapped to her back, she grinned and giggled a bit in momentary excitement. "Holy crap! It's my video game twin!" she squealed. The moment was over as Ion suddenly slammed his staff into the ground, making a giant circle light up the entire room. Tara's eyes widened in awe as she listened to the incantation, curiously prodding part of the circle with her spear.
"So cool... man, better than the magic I'm used to playing with..." she whispered, whistling softly in amazement. Then, when Ion pounded the ground and the light burst up, she stumbled backward until she hit the wall. "HOLY SHIT!!!" Tara exclaimed, face alight with amusement at the magic... until it faded and they were thrown into darkness once more. Had this not been the case, she, too, may have been worried about Ion's condition. However, Lucca's tiny flame did little to illuminate the shadows, and she had a bit of a problem with the dark.
Probably why Tara had chosen the one species in Oblivion that could see in the dark for her character. Instantly on edge, she gripped the spear tightly in her hands and waved it a bit in front of her. "Oh, God, I hate the dark. Why do dungeons always have to be dark? I can barely see a thing in here..." she stammered nervously.

Magus had sat up when he heard footsteps. They'd stopped outside the door. Alex had turned off his thermal vision by the time that Magus was on his feet. The blue haired spellcaster grabbed his scythe and stood ready just as the door opened. As the man stepped inside, Magus all but flew forward.
His aim was to pin the intruder against the wall with the blade of the scythe to his throat. Magus underestimated the abilities of the man, though. He wanted to pin him to the wall and demand who he was, but it was more than possible he wouldn't get that chance.
----------
Lucca had watched Ion drive his staff into the ground. He had to have found a crack or something, most of the floor was stone. The man had gone to ignoring her and turned towards the surging magical energy around Ion. He actually seemed surprised as the entire area was lit up with a magic circle. He didn't have shielding spells, so he'd have to take this full force... he grinned even wider than before. Or would he?
He waited for the telltale surge in magical energy. Just as the mixture of seventh and sixth fonons exploded up around the room, he vanished. To those observing, it seemed as if the spell had just disintegrated him. Lucca looked surprised as the ground unexpectedly caved beneath her feet. She stumbled backwards and caught herself on the wall, her feet trying to trip over each other a few times before they rebalanced on the slightly angled ground. She pointed her weapon into the air and let another burst of fire come out so she could see better. The boy who had cast the spell had collapsed.
"Hey, are you okay over there?"
She wasn't quite sure how he had cast the spell. Something to do with technology? If this was the future, it was more than possible magic had been rediscovered. Although that spell had been rather powerful. She used the limited flame from her weapon to make her way around the rack she was behind and was about three steps away from Ion when a robed hand looped around her throat and pulled her close.
The man from before had simply materialized in a surge of death based energy. He took a step back and tightened his grip around her throat. The girl let out a choking sound. The man reached over to Lucca's wrist and squeezed, forcing the weapon to clatter to the floor. Its small light cast odd shadows from the angle now.
"I would applaud you for that little trick, but as you can see my hands are rather... full. I can see that I may have underestimated the talent of your little group. Your spellcasting friend seems a bit on the weak side though, does he not? How about this... I'll let two of you leave, the other have to remain here? Fair, is it not?"
Lucca had stopped struggling by this point. She couldn't cast a spell if she couldn't speak, but she did have other options. She carefully moved her free arm towards her pouch and unhooked it. She kept her look at the group, and if anyone could make out her face for the low light, shadows, and darkness, they'd see a serious look on her face. They hoped they'd play distraction... she really was useless in a fight by herself, though. She urked a bit as the grip around her throat tightened.
"Do not think I will hesitate to kill all of you if you take too long," he paused and his grin became somehow calmer, "However... I suppose I am open to other suggestions. Clock is ticking on your lives, no matter how you wish to play this."

Ion nodded weakly to Lucca as she addressed him. "I just used a little too strong of a Daathic Fonic Arte, that's all."
Ellie knew it had gone too easily. The guy had just disappeared. There hadn't been anything left of him. And he looked like the creepy type who would be a boss in a game. The obviously evil final boss, based on his clothing and silver hair. As of such, Ion's one arte shouldn't have taken him down. Her thoughts were confirmed as Lucca was grabbed by the man who had appeared out of nowhere. Ellie set Ion down, and he wobbled a bit as he stood up again.
Ellie scowled further if that was even possible as the man made his request. In response, she sheathed two of her claws, leaving only the middle one sticking up, which she then pointed at the man.
"Up yours, ghost dude! We came here to slay some ghosts, and we ain't leavin' with any dead people!" Ellie yelled. "So why don't you take a nice big fist and shove it!"
Ion winced. "Not so vulgar, Ellie." Ellie smiled at him, and then picked up Ion's staff. It was gold, but it was still a magical alloy of sorts.
"So why don't ya just drop Lucca already, you stupid ghost?" Ellie asked. And now she was getting overconfident.

((Wow, it feels AWESOME playing someone who could give Magus a run for his money. XD))
Alex had regretted turning off his thermal vision as soon as he entered the dark room; there were no torches here and the window had been covered. However, when Magus had removed his scythe, the cloak had slipped from the wall and allowed moonlight to fall into the room through the open window. The charging Magus was instantly revealed in rays of silver, and with a gasp he ducked and rolled out of the creature's reach. Had his infected vision been wrong? Certainly this thing wasn't human, but it didn't look like any infected he'd seen.
Alex decided that he'd figure that part out later; right now, this thing was threatening him. Seeing as it carried some kind of blade, he might as well give him a taste of his own medicine. The red and black strains of viral energy swirled around his arm, reconstructing the muscle and bone and skin. When it dissipated, Alex's arm had become a giant, black blade that was almost as long as he was tall. "I don't know what you are, but you chose the wrong person to attack," he growled. Lunging forward, he made to strike at Magus's back with one of his powerful downward slashes.

Tara probably would have stayed in her jumpy, useless state had the man from earlier not reappeared and grabbed Lucca in a stranglehold. The sight made her heart leap into her throat, and it was probably the only thing that stopped her from screaming again. Okay, so maybe this wasn't as easy and fun as it was in video games; after all, she didn't have magic or armor or skill with weapons. "H-hey, he's not weak! That was a freaking strong spell, in my opinion. A-and..."
Tara trailed off at his next statement, swallowing hard at his proposition. Had this been a video game with NPCs, she would have gladly opted to stay. However, this was real, and the others might not want to do as the man said at all. So, Tara hesitated, glancing around at the group and wincing when the man said he would kill all of them if they took too long. Of course, it was Ellie to voice the remainder of the group's opinion, and in quite the humorous way.
She forcefully stifled her giggling with a hand, unable to help it. However, even Tara could tell that Ellie was maybe biting off more than she could chew with the... crap, did she say ghost? 'But he's solid, obviously... that doesn't make sense... Does he have more than one form?' she wondered, brows furrowing. Her eyes widened at that thought, which would explain how he'd disappeared and then reappeared so effortlessly. Tara almost blurted it out to the others, but realized at the last moment that she could use this knowledge to her advantage.
After all, he probably thought they were still clueless to his little trick. 'Now, what to do... hmm... I've gotta get that girl out of his grip. Maybe I could... a-ha! It's woth a shot. Hehe, pun...' she thought. Tara kept her expression scared and hesitant, gripping her spear with one hand as the other reached back to rub her neck nervously. "Uh, guys, maybe we should do as he says..." she began, hand inching down to the handle of her potato gun.
"I mean, he's obviously powerful, so..." She secured her grip on the handle, finger on the trigger as she suddenly smirked and whipped out the gun. "He can eat Russet potatoes!!" Tara exclaimed as she pulled the trigger three times, all of the potatoes aimed at the man's head. Luckily, because of his height, Lucca was well out of range.
