((Don't feel bad. XD Me and FF are fans of TotA, we can tell you ain't nothing wrong with humor. Just try to keep it out of tense boss fight situations. XD
Also, Ani? Ion is, as FF said, 178 cm/~5'8". Lucca is 172 cm/~5'6", and Robo is 212 cm/~7 feet, just to let you know. Yes, he's tall. XD))
Magus regarded Alex for a moment. For once, huh? Well, it meant that the man had dodged the question. He relaxed the grip on the scythe a bit, but it was clear he could use it if he had to. He took several elaborate steps towards the stool he had been sitting on before. He wanted to make sure the man could read his movements. It had knocked over during the scuffle. He straightened it up and picked up the makeshift shade, tossing it onto the decrepit bed in the corner. He opted to lean against the wall rather than sitting down.
He wanted to set up that barrier, but that took a solid few minutes and would raise to much suspicion. He had positioned himself so that he had several paths to the door. The man wasn't stupid, nor was he putting himself in a position to be trapped. It was, all things considered, a rather military way of dealing with the situation... well, he had functioned as a general of sorts, but there was no way Alex could know that. Either way it could be enough to make the man nervous.
"Do you intend on staying here?" Magus inquired.
He didn't seem fond of the company. If Alex was really good at reading people, he'd realize the "man" wouldn't appreciate company even if he hadn't almost been killed by it. There was a definite cold air around Magus.
----------
"Thank you for the offer, but I am capable with this young person's help," Robo replied to Ellie.
Robo didn't object to Ion's help. In fact, the teenager with a now torn robe provided a bit of support. After a few more seconds, Robo was able to get them both onto solid footing. Didn't leave him much room to stand due to his own girth. He was less concerned with that at the moment and more concerned with how Lucca had pretty much thrown herself on him. She was crying harder now that she was safe, but the tears didn't seem to be sad. In fact, she seemed incredibly happy.
"Lucca, your face is leaking again."
"Robo, you dummy! I'm crying because I'm happy to see you!"
Robo 'blinked', which amounted to the green lights that made up his eyes blipping on and off a few times. He looked around the room. Finally Lucca realized where she was at and stood up. She pushed her glasses up to her face with enough force that they looked like they were going to indent. Her face was bright red and she coughed once in embarassment. Right, they were here. And they'd been in a fight. She whirled around and nearly slipped on the edge of the collapsed floor. Robo caught her and helped her back.
"Is everyone okay?"
She wished she could see better in the darkness. Lucca couldn't see the details of the room behind Ellie, although she was clear to the magenta haired teenager. Robo made some mechanical processing noises as he looked around. Suddenly two headlight like beams shot to the side of Ellie. It wasn't something ever seen in game, and it would be pretty easy to have the gut reaction of something like lasers. They were, in fact, almost identical to headlights. Two pools of bright light that overlapped just a tad in the center were now next to the bird toting girl. The edge of the one closer to her just hit her foot, but it was amazing how much the visibility improved thanks to that action.
"Everyone in the room appears to be functional, Lucca," Robo stated.

Ellie looked away from the situation with Lucca and Robo when Tara said she was stuck, and groaned. She took Canary off of her head and sat him to the side on a piece of rather nasty looking equipment before walking close to were Tara was. She held out her hand.
"God, I save your ass like five times, and exorcise a fucking ghost from you and you still get yourself stuck in this kind of shit," Ellie said. "Take my hand and just be careful. Jesus, you get into more sticky situations than Ion. Hopefully not that kind of sticky situation. That's just ew."
She seemed to be calming down now that the situation had defused a bit. Canary didn't seem to be, though, and he still resembled a rather fluffy chick, which would have been adorable if it weren't for the fact it meant he was freaked out beyond belief.
Ion sat down on the cold stone floor, relieved, once Lucca was pulled to safety. "Thank goodness..." He let Lucca cry, and jumped when the headlights hit next to Ellie, who jumped about ten feet.
"JESUS ROBO WATCH WHERE YOU'RE POINTING THOSE THINGS! I AM TRYING TO SAVE TARA FROM ANOTHER ROOM UNDER US 'KAY THANKS."
Ion looked over toward Lucca and held his hand out. "I'm glad you're okay. My name's Ion."

Alex had tensed when Magus began to move again, but relaxed when he realized the creature was simply returning to his previous position. Deciding that should the other attack he'd have plenty of time to morph out a weapon, he allowed the Blade to disappear in a swirl of red and black. He clenched his new fist a few times, flexing the fingers to get the proper feel of the appendage again. Alex turned to face Magus when the creature asked him a question, blinking in slight surprise. He hadn't really thought about where he'd be "staying," having only entered this castle in an effort to find some information.
"...Perhaps. Are there others here? Or is it just you?" he questioned, voice near-monotone. Alex didn't have to sleep, after all, and he wasn't low on health so he didn't need to absorb anyone. Likely, if Magus said no, he would leave the castle and try to find others who could supply him with the memories he longed for.
---------------
Tara grinned sheepishly as Ellie walked over and held out her hand, complaining quite profusely as she did so. She flushed a light pink, slightly ashamed and feeling a little guilty about causing so much trouble. She didn't do it on purpose; she just always seemed to attract problems and complications like a magnet. "Sorry, Ellie. I'll try to be more careful from now on. Guess my clumsiness and bad luck followed me all the way here," Tara replied through a sigh, carefully inching her way as close to the edge as she dared. She grimaced at Ellie's comment about Ion and sticky situations, a strong shudder running through her body.
"No. Just... no. Ergh," she muttered, sticking out her tongue in disgust. Tara reached for the offered hand, fingers just brushing Ellie's when a spotlight suddenly lit up the area. She yelped, momentarily blinded as she stumbled forward and across the gap. "Gah, my eyes!! Crap!!" she shouted, flailing and grasping desperately. One of Tara's hands managed to snag Ellie's, while the other gripped the stone ledge for dear life.
"Oh sweet Jesus... thank God for flailing reflexes..."

"No," Magus replied, "I'm the only one here."
Which was a lie, but it wouldn't show. The man could have been strapped to a lie detector and it would have come up as truth. So even if Alex had the ability to read pulse rate, brain waves, or anything lie detectors could pick up on, Magus would come across as being truthful. Part of it was how one looked at it, what with here being such a subjective statement. The other part that would allow his comment to read as truth even with further questioning was that Magus was a damn good liar.
-----------
Robo jumped a bit towards the reactions towards his action. Lucca had shot up a hand in surprise at his action, but hadn't said anything. She blinked a few times to clear her vision and noticed Ion had offered his hand. He looked about her age and dressed more like what she would expect someon in Zeal to than anyone from her own time. She took the hand and gave it a shake.
"I'm Lucca. That was really reckless, Ion. If Robo hadn't shown up you could have been dragged into that hole with me!"
Robo knew he couldn't exactly look away from where the girl who had put down the bird and the girl who was apparently named Tara. Now if he wanted to help them see still. Well, there was a whole pit down there, and his sensors indicated it went down about nine feet. The girl named Tara could probably jump down if she could see the floor. He chose to turn his head a bit so that the light was no longer hitting Ellie's feet. Lucca didn't wait for Ion to respond before cupping her mouth and speaking to Tara and Ellie.
"Do you two need some help?" Lucca said. It didn't look like a distance that would be easy to jump over...
Robo looked like he wanted to bow to Ion, but there wasn't enough room. And he still couldn't turn all that easily. So he offered his hand to the side. His construct meant his hand could swallow Ion's and probably crush it if he wanted to.
"I am known as Robo," the robot said, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Ion. I apologize I can not be more interactive at the moment."

Ion gave a nervous smile. Perhaps he might have been. He could be considered a tad reckless for those kind of actions, but it had been a tense situation. He was still very grateful for Robo and his help, though. He probably would have fallen into the pit had it not been for Robo.
Ellie yelped as Tara grabbed one of her hands, and Ellie grabbed Tara's wrist. She groaned as she tried to pull Tara up. "Jesus, Tara, you weigh a ton!"
She looked over at Lucca as she offered her help. "Yes please!" She even sounded desperate. She actually was managing to pull Tara up a bit, but she really didn't like the situation she was currently in.
Ion took Robo's rather large hand. "It's okay. I'm pretty useless in most situations anyways."

Alex frowned at the answer he received, disappointed that there might not be anyone else currently inhabiting the castle. He used the word "might" for a reason. After all of the lies and betrayal, not to mention his memory loss, he had learned not to trust anyone. Magus' "no" simply made it less likely that there were people here; that meant Alex would still search the castle himself to be sure. After all, he truly had nothing better to do.
"All right. I'll leave, then." With that said, he turned on his heel and briskly walked out of the room, unworried about a possible surprise attack. Alex sensed that Magus wouldn't even bother, and if he did, he still wouldn't stand a chance. Activating his heat vision again, he made his way down the hallway and slowly rotated his gaze this way and that so as to cover the surrounding area.
------------------
"H-hey! I do not! It's just the bags and my bazooka!! Geez..." Tara countered defensively as she gripped Ellie's hand and the floor's edge for dear life, desperately trying to heave herself up. Sure, she was a little overweight; but really, those bags weren't exactly light and empty. Unfortunately, she had about zero upper body strength at her disposal, making it quite difficult for her to help Ellie with the lifting. "Ergh... gah... curse my... non-existent... upper body strength... damnit..." Tara cursed, panting slightly and trying to gain some footing on what was left of the floor.
"Yes!! Some help would be nice!! And probably life-saving!!!"

Magus watched as Alex leaved the room. There was a feeling of a lack of trust, but it wasn't something he cared about. It wasn't like there was an overflowing amount of trust between either of them. He waited for the man to leave the room before he straightened up and began walking arond the room in a very deliberate manner. Every once in a while he'd stop, mutter in his native language, and move his hands in a very rythmic manner. He could have stopped after five minutes, but he spent a full half hour setting up the full barrier.
----------
"Got it! Just hang tight, I'll figure something out!" Lucca said through her cupped hands.
Robo spoke towards Ion without moving his head, still illuminating the area to Ellie's side. The voice seemed to come from the proper place for a human, but there was a definite sense that it wasn't. It had a very slight mechanical feel to it, like a well done Vocaloid song except spoken (but not a Talkloid). It also had a slight echo.
"I do not think you are useless. Thank you very much for trying to help Lucca."
Lucca began glancing around the walls. She grabbed her glasses by the temple and held them as she looked over the side of the pit. She pushed them up a few times, due to them falling back to their former position each time. It definently seemed to be a tic of sorts, although rather than the amused expression Jade wore with his, she seemed to be extremely focused.
"Robo, could you hold onto my belt here?"
Robo looked towards Lucca as she asked her question. This of course turned his headlights straight into Ellie's face. It was also possible they'd blinded Tara as well...

Ellie yelped as the light hit her in the face once again, and she tumbled forward, letting go of Tara as she did so. Her balance lost, Ellie ended up tumbling into the pit, most likely bringing Tara down with her unless the other girl had decided to let go of Ellie once she realized the other girl was falling. Ellie landed rather roughly on the floor nine feet below.
Ion gave a weak smile to Robo and had been about to respond when Lucca made her request, which inadvertantly led to Ellie's loss of balance. He ran over to the edge of the pit.
"Ellie, are you okay?" Ion called.
"Just peachy... I think there's a skeleton next to me but if I ignore it, I'll be fine," Ellie called back. She looked around. "Hey, Robo, shine your eyelights down here so I can get a look around... And make sure it's not in my face."

Alex wasn't certain how much time had passed since he'd left the room before he managed to find something, but it didn't matter much to him. During one of his sweeps across the floor, he had barely caught a faint heat signature. It didn't take him long to figure out that one of the nearby rooms must have had a staircase leading to a lower floor. Luckily or unluckily for the group below, Alex chose the wrong one for his first pick.
---------------------------
"I'm hanging, I'm hanging!" Tara called back at Lucca, sighing heavily before grunting slightly as she once more tried to hoist herself up. They seemed to be making some progress when light once more blinded her, making her cry out and her feet slip from their shaky footholds. "My eyes!! This is getting old!!" she shouted, eyes tightly closed. Only Tara's hands kept her aloft, which quickly changed to one as Ellie tumbled forward and let go of her. "Ellie?!" she called worriedly.
She heard a distinct thud down below, making her grimace as she blinked the bright spots out of her vision. "Agh... crap... not sure if I can hang on..." Tara muttered, one hand clinging to the edge of the floor for dear life. Desperate, she swung up the other in an effort to double her hold, but got the reverse effect. The swing and sudden tug on the rock made it come loose, and she screamed as she fell as well....
....and, of course, landed on Ellie. After all, the two had been in the exact same spot above, so it would have been highly unlikely for Tara to land anywhere else. "Ugh... shit... I think I landed on Ellie...."

(OOC: Magus is in the room until furhter notice.)
Lucca saw the position of the light change and was whirling around to stop Robo. It came altogether too late, and she managed to get an eyeful of light herself. She shot her hand up and looked for a moment like she was going to lose her balance again, but she managed to throw her weight forward right and catch herself in time. She heard the thump on the ground and winced, turning back towards the ground and pulling her glasses out a bit to rub the spots from her eyes. The tunnel like vision cleared up after a few painful moments.
"Robo, turn your lights off!" Lucca said moments before Ellie's request.
The humanoid robot had Lucca's request followed just as Ellie gave hers. The area was flooded in darkness again, and Lucca shot her hand forward and grabbed the edge of the floor so she could keep an idea of where the floor was. There was some machine-like processing noises, and it could be heard when Robo shifted his weight. Ellie's request had made it clear she was okay, and Tara sounded fine as well. Lucca lefted a hand up and pointed to where she had seen the torch before Robo's lights had flashed off.
"Robo, put some light on where I'm pointing, and try to keep it low," Lucca said, sounding as if she had some better handle on the situation than before. She sounded a bit more business like as well.
Robo complied and two pools of light of about half the intensity from before shone in the direction Lucca was pointing. This was a clear indication that the robot had some sort of vision that could be used in what would be blinding darkness to a human. It wouldn't be bright enough to bother Tara or Ellie due to its position, and it would grant a very dim and shadowy view of their surroundings.
The room they were in had what looked like medieval dungeon cells lining either side of them. The place had a musty smell to it, but whatever had once been there was long enough dead that the rot smell no longer lingered. There were skeletons in a few of the cells and other signs of long passed death. The shadow play created by the low light probably wasn't comforting.
Lucca stood up and pulled her glasses up by the temple again. She gestured to Robo and he seemed to understand, taking a few steps back. The angle was a bit tricky, and his body was at an angle due to having to stand somewhat on the stairs. Lucca took the space to take a few steps back and cupped her hands again.
"Hold up, I'm gonna get you guys a light down there!"
Ion had cast a spell before. She hadn't recognized it and the only one among her allies that had been able to sense magical types had been Magus. Still, it was magic and no one had freaked. For what reason this era had magic, she didn't know. She was curious, but right now they had to get out of here and for that they needed a light. Ion would sense a slight lift in fifth fonons around Lucca as she held an arm out. The way that the language was clearly not one the group knew, but was translated, was identical to how it had been when Magus cast Dark Matter.
"Hi kala... FIRE!" ("Burning summons... FIRE!)
The fifth fonons around her spiked and a stream of fire shot from just ahead of her fingertip. It hit the torch Robo was illuminating, and it burst into fire. The fire was a bit large at first, flaring about an inch outward in all directions. A bit of the wall got scorched, but the flame grew to a reasonable size as the spell ended. It was pretty easy to see now thanks to the flame, but it only extended a short distance. Lucca cupped her hands and shouted down again.
"If you'll leave that alone, I think I can use that light to get you guys out of there!" she said. She turned to Robo and gave a kind and exasperated smile, "You can turn those off, Robo."
(OOC: Sorry its long, but it really didn't take more than about a minute of "real" time. Lucca's got a plan to get the group out, but feel free to whine, complain, and sabotage if its in character. XD Oh, Ani? Heat vision probably picked up on that juuuust a bit. XD)

She did indeed land on Ellie, who very roughly pushed Tara off. "Hey, watch it!" She looked around at her surroundings, but she only had so much light to go by, and it wasn't helping make the place look less creepy. Ellie groaned. "I'm going to die alone and childless inside a dungeon in a stupid castle and no one's ever gonna find me 'cause there's a crucified guy outside the castle and..." She looked at Tara and seemed to consider something before passing it off.
She jumped as the torch nearby erupted into fire thanks to Lucca's spell. Ellie looked up at Lucca and gave a thumbs up.
"Right! Getting out of here would be great!"
Ion was standing off to the sidelines, waiting to see what Lucca was going to do.

Alex was dejectedly leaving the room he'd just finished scouring when something flared into his heat vision, making his eyes widen and nearly return to normal. He managed to keep them still as the hot spot decreased significantly, much smaller but far brighter than the signatures below had been previously. Following the trailing heat waves, he entered the other room, not even looking up as he kept his gaze locked with the floor. Alex stopped when he felt a slight change in temperature, coming face-to-face with an open doorway. The door had obviously been ripped off, and what had once been stairs was now a slightly steep incline of rubble.
Pausing only to ready himself, he stepped forward and skillfully slid down the slope, stepping with ease over large chunks of debris. The heat signatures were getting stronger, and Alex kept this vision since it would be more useful in the dark. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best at sensing machines, and that included robots. As such, he didn't even see Robo, masked by the light heat wave that still hung about. There was a nice, solid, resounding "clunk" as Alex slammed into the machine with the force of an adult, charging moose.
The impact didn't harm him in the least, though it did take him by surprise. Depending on the strength of Robo's plating and his grip on the floor, however, the force of the hit would perhaps dent his back or sending him falling over the edge.
----------------------
Tara yelped as she was abruptly shoved off of Ellie, sticking her tongue out at the other girl before shakily getting to her feet. She groaned and shook out her sore hands, one of which was slightly scraped up from gripping the edge of the stone floor. Wincing and hissing lightly as she brushed off some of the grit sticking to her palms, she luckily didn't see Ellie's gaze move to her as she trailed off in her tirade. "Yeah, well, this isn't how I pictured my ending to be either," Tara stated through a sigh, hands dropping to her sides as she gave up on them for the moment.
She yelped again, covering her face with her arms as the center of the floor burst into flames. Were there a bucket of water nearby, she likely would have doused the flame without a second thought. Luckily for those present, there was no such plan-killing device, and Tara soon managed to calm down. "Thanks! If we can help, just say so! We both want to get out of this hole!!" she called up. Then came a sudden "clang," which made her blink and take a few steps back in an effort to see further up.
"What was that??"

(OOC: OOOOOOOPS. Thank you Ani. Craaaap. XD I deleted your message once I got it. Here's the proper post. This wasn't even written until just now, so yeah. Oooooopsies.)
Lucca had gone into action before either Tara or Ellie spoke. She had assumed they'd cooperate, so in the long run it was a good thing she had. After a few seconds of glancing around with firelight, she gestured to Robo. He seemed to understand, making it somewhat clear the two had worked together before. He took the single step of space forward his girth allowed and hooked Lucca's belt.
The teenager leaned forward, and Robo planted his feet to allow Lucca to do so. The level of trust between the two was pretty clearly stated by that alone. Lucca pulled out the metallic device she had used earlier out of her belt and clicked it on. A stream of fire at least five feet long shot out of it above the group before it pulled back in and left a flame like a electric match might. She angled herself again and shot out a shorter stream above her head, showing the control she had over it.
A piece of rope about an inch wide fell down to the floor several feet behind where Tara and Ellie were before burning itself out. It had been that Tara had reacted to, as the initial flame had just been a torch on the wall being lit. Lucca allowed the flame to go out, but used the extended reach her flamethrower allowed her to hook some rope and flick it towards herself. A large clump weighing several pounds fell with a tug, and began falling. It would just miss Tara and Ellie, but there was something of far more concern to everyone in the group at the moment.
Because at that moment was when the new arrival pretty much rammed into Robo. For a few moments there was a somewhat irritating alarm sound, and Robo was pushed forward half an inch or so. Lucca felt herself falling far more than she'd angled herself or intended and her own foot slipped. Her reaction tightened her grip on the rope rather than letting it go, but she was now pretty much dangling by her belt over the hole.
"Eeek! Robo, what's going on!?"
Had Robo been human, he would have been clenching his teeth. As simply a robot, he turned his head a bit further than a human would, but only the half circle that his eyes were connected to and sort of made up his head. Ion was to the side, he could sense that, but he flicked his eye lights on and it was quite possible he'd blind Alex. There was indeed a noticable dent in his plating.
"Intruder alert! Danger!" Robo said, his voice a bit more metallic than usual.
The end result had Robo dangerously close to the edge, his back plating rather dented, Lucca clutching a rope as if it was a lifeline despite it being no longer attached anywhere, and the girl hanging over the edge supported only by Robo's firm grip. It was a good thing she knew how to put on her belt. About the only thing that had gone right in that fiasco was that it wasn't threatening to come loose.

Ellie couldn't see much of what was going on, even with the lights Lucca had made. But she could see enough from her position on the other floor. She stood up.
"Lucca, someone attacked Robo!" Ellie yelled up to Lucca. The next comment was addressed to Alex. "Hey, jerkface! Leave Robo alone! He didn't do anything to you!"
Ion was standing a ways back from the situation, having moved back a bit when Alex rammed into Robo. He was sure he couldn't do anything here, as usual. He was still drained from that spell earlier, and even then he wasn't an offensive type of person. He couldn't really fight back.

Alex had stumbled back away from Robo soon after crashing into him, shaking down his body and rolling the kinks out of his shoulders from the impact. "What the Hell did I hit?" he muttered, switching to normal vision. It was brighter down here than he'd anticipated, making him wince until his pupils properly adjusted themselves. While this was happening, there was an annoying alarm going off, and it reminded Alex of the one used in those infected-detection machines. Gritting his teeth together as his eyes focused, he acted out of instinct and morphed his arms into Hammerfists.
Luckily, before he could attack Robo, the robot turned his head and blinded his normal vision with his eye lights. Shouting in pain, Alex stumbled back a bit and quickly switched to infected vision, knowing that heat vision would be clouded with all of the heat surrounding them. The thing he'd crashed into screeched something about there being an intruder, reminding him of the military even more and adding fuel to the fire. If he'd come across some forgotten military base, he'd destroy it and all of the equipment it housed, starting with this annoying machine. Vision now a wall of blue with vague outlines because there was no trace of the virus, Alex stepped forward again and raised his fist.
However, someone screaming caught his attention, making him shift his gaze to the edge of the floor. It sounded like a girl, insulting him and then commanding him to leave the machine- Robo- alone. Alex guessed she must have been someone from the military, but if she was, she would have been shooting at him already. Frowning in confusion, he walked over to the edge, accidentally shoving both Robo and Ion in the process. Ion may have been completely pushed off the platform if he wasn't careful, and Robo would either tip or be shoved a few centimeters to the side.
Alex stood on the edge of the floor, staring down at the two females below as he switched back to normal vision to see them more clearly. Two women in their late teens stood below, one looking indignant and the other utterly terrified. At least, she was at first, but when she turned her gaze onto him she seemed to suddenly become both excited and fearful at the same time.
"OH MY GOD, IT'S ALEX MERCER!!!"
Tara, of course, had screamed this, quivering in a combination of excitement and terror upon sight of one of her video game favorites, at long last. She clenched her hands together before her for a moment, staring up at the "man" with stars of admiration in her eyes. Running over to Ellie, she grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her like the ecstatic, near-squealing fangirl she was. "ELLIE!! It's Alex Mercer! From Prototype! Oh my God!!" she exclaimed, practically hyperventilating.
Releasing the poor girl, Tara turned her attention back to the man above and bowed a few times. "Mr. Mercer, really sorry about all of the loud noise and lights and everything! I'm a big fan, really I am! Please don't absorb us!! I promise you, we don't have any memories that would be useful! Promise!!"
