Physical Description
Wizeman has only the most vague of humanoid appearance to him. His head consists of an odd silver helmet with many sharp spikes extending off in several directions. He doesn't appear to have eyes on his head, and the helmet itself floats above a black space of nothingness. His "neck" consists of a gold collar with blue glowing gems within. He has a sort of halo circling around his entire head, and it appears it may be connected at his collar. It is also gold, but spaced evenly starting at the side are yellow gem-like spikes.
His "body" is little more than a giant cloak. It is noble looking and has a dominant color of dark blue. The bottom is light blue. The entity does not appear to have a true body, and if one were to see underneath his cloak they would see more black nothingness. He has an ornate pendant of sorts that has a blue gem hanging down from the center and a glowing green gem from either side of that. The front of his cloak has a long red strip, and much of the whole cloak is trimmed in yellow.
In a circle just ahead of his body are six fully independant hands. They float but are capable of full function and can move indepentantly of each other such as an octopus' tentacles. The twop two hands float quite a bit above his head, the middle two extend outwards from his "shoulders", and the lower two are just in front of where his "shins" might be if he had them. Each hand possesses a glowing purple eye and all of them are visible of sight. He can see in six seperate directions if he chooses thanks to them.
Weapons
Technically, Wizeman doesn't possess any weapons. One could argue the Realm of Nightmare itself is a weapon, but his control over it and the fears of Visitors are more a power than anything else. He could probably impale someone upon the various spiky bits of his body, and his hands are more than capable of strangling someone, though.
Abilities/Powers
Wizeman can "fly", but considering the only examples of this are in his own dimension, it is as much his ability to fully control the environment in Nightmare as anything else. He's not graceful in the least, merely floating forwards and backwards. He's far to large to avoid a hit, but he can manipulate the reality around him to create shields or distances between himself and his attacker.
The God of Nightmare has full control over the dark side of the subconscious. Anything that can dream can fall prey to him. He is capable of painful energy blasts and the creation of the denizens of Nightmare known as Nightmaren. It does require a certain level of energy, and only two level one Nightmaren can exist at any one time. He would have to destroy one and use the energy of it to create another. He seems unlimited in his creation of 2nd level Nightmaren, but there actually is a limit. He has no problem destroying them to make room for others. 3rd level Nightmaren he can create as many as there are nightmares, and is fully unlimited.
His powers aren't infinite, however. The positive powers of the heart have a physical manifestation within the Night Dimension and those people who can figure out how to harnass them can beat him back. The powers are: Hope, Purity, Knowledge, and Growth. The most powerful and hardest to maintain is the Ideya of Courage. By uniting these powers Wizeman can be beaten back, but his very makeup means Wizeman can never truly be defeated.
Wizeman is a true immortal. As long as there are fears, they can invade the subconscious and create nightmares. As long as there are nightmares, Wizeman will exist. If by some odd chance he managed to surface in the "real" world, the "Day Dimension", destroying him there would send him back to the realm of Nightmare. However, it would mean he'd have to go through all the steps he took before to re-enter the real world, which could very well take millenia in the Day Dimension's sense of time.
The nature of his being means he speaks no language. The nature of dreams and the mind means people who visit the Night Dimension will hear them speak in their native language. If they know no language, they will still manage to understand based on imagery. In languages that allow such things, he speaks with an arrogant nobility. He regards himself with no gender and reacts the same to any gender assignment given him.
Skills
Wizeman doesn't really possess skills. The only things that could possibly considered as such are intimidation and manipulation. Both stem from his ability to back things up via his powers.
Personality
Zero sense of humor. Cold, dark, manipulative. He's rather the sore loser and more than a bit prideful. He doesn't get angry easily. He fits well the idea of "don't get mad, get even". He seems to have nothing in the way of feelings and walks all over those beneath him. He considers everyone beneath him.
His main source of frustration comes from those that can defy him... and have the ability to back it up. He hates to lose or admit he made a mistake. To that end, he is almost reluctant to destroy the few things he values. Wizeman is not easy to enrage, but he is easy to irritate. He does not "appreciate" others treading on his domain and so indescribably arrogant he is calm about it.
History
It could be said Wizeman was born along with the first nightmare in the first dimension to have such a thing. Inhabiting a place connected to any dimension with one who can dream within, he draws upon the power of nightmares as his own. Early after his "birth", Wizeman created the twin Nightmaren Reala and NiGHTS. He assigned them to help him capture the Ideya of dreamers so he could use their potential to destroy Nightopia, take over the Night Dimension, and use that seta to plunge all reality into Nightmare.
One of his creations was everything he wanted. The Nightmaren known as Reala would sacrifice his life for Wizeman if he were ordered. The other was not. A fickle jester he eventually rebelled against Wizeman and the God of Nightmare sealed him within a prison known as an Ideya Palace for his rebellion.
Some time passed and two teenage Visitors named Elliot Edwards and Claris Sinclair showed up in the Night Dimension. Working together with NiGHTS, they managed to overthrow the King of Nightmare. As he always would, Wizeman returned. He was beaten down again by the team of Will, Helen, and NiGHTS. In fact, across many encounters NiGHTS continues to rebel against his "master", and it shows no signs of letting up.
The Night Dimension, Ideya, and Visitors
The Night Dimension is a lynchpin dimension similar to Dimension Island, except its not as universally connected. NiGHTS' home dimension can only connect to worlds where there are powerful dreamers, meaning only worlds where at least one Visitor possessing all five Ideya (rather rare) exists. The connection can be severed if only one such Visitor exists and they die.
The Night Dimension is not a place where one is immortal. Any damage suffered in the Dimension will not transfer to the Visitor, but if they truly die in the Night Dimension they will appear to have died in their sleep in their world. Nightmaren and Nightmare seem the only forces capable of truly killing visitors, and even then only Wizeman, Reala, and NiGHTS have the ability to take a life. Reala is more than willing to do this, as well as use the power as a way of threatening his opponents or forcing them to back down.
The Ideya are orbs of energy that represent the positive powers of a Visitor's consciousness. More than that, they are the source of all power in the Night Dimension and the base upon which Nightopia is created. Their power is limited only by the dreams of the Visitor possessing them, and are in high demand among Wizeman. If mastery over a Visitor's Ideya is possessed, their Nightopia can be corrupted. If enough Nightopias are corrupted, the entire Night Dimension will collapse and become another aspect of Nightmare. Once that occurs, nothing stops Wizeman from leaving the Night Dimension and taking over all realities with dreamers. Each visitor has their own set of Nightopias, which is directly connected to their Ideya. Nightmare's existance seems more dependant on fears an unfulfilled dreams, which are always more abundant than the sterengths and/or potentials of heart that makes up Ideya.
Many Visitors only have one Ideya, and if this Ideya is stolen they can only wander the Dream Gate or simply be stuck in Nightmare. While possessing more than one idea is uncommon, it is not rare. The true rarity comes from those select Visitors who, at least upon entering, possess all five varieties of Ideya. Red Ideya is extremely rare and is of such a power only Wizeman and the two first level Nightmarens in existance (NiGHTS and Reala) even stand a chance of stealing it. This powerful Ideya allows many wonderous things, and only those that have it can even think about standing up to Wizeman and truly vanquishing Nightmare... at least for the night.
The five Ideya are color coded according to power. White is the Ideya of a pure heart aka Purity, Blue is the Ideya of intelligence and learning aka Intelligence, Green is the Ideya of the potential to grow or the realization of said growth aka Growth, and Yellow is the Ideya of never giving up on ones ideals aka Hope. The extremely rare Red Ideya is that of those willing to fight for what they believe in and help others, often seen as a combination of all the other Ideya aka Courage.
A Visitor is merely a person from some dimension or another that comes to the Night Dimension.
Only those with access to at least one Ideya can enter Nightopia. All can be forced into Nightmare, and it is often easier to force one completely lacking in Ideya to do so. A Visitor does not have to be human, they must merely be capable of dreaming. Truly lucid dreamers have at least the potential for all five Ideya, but it is no guarantee they can access it.
Other
The Night Dimension is rather hard to explain. Time doesn't flow the same as it does in most dimensions, one could even say it doesn't flow at all. This phenomena is what allows years to pass by in a dream during seconds of waking world time. There is an order to the events in Wizeman's history, but how long each event takes and the time between them is quite impossible to nail down. Wizeman does seem to have a better concept of time than his creations and could probably grasp chaos theory better than any known human in our dimension. It is not something the God of Nightmare dwells upon, in any case.
Wizeman exists in all places and no places within Nightmare at once, and is able to effect his influence upon any number of Nightopias. Each Visitor manifests their own version of the Dream Gate above and beyond their own Nightopia's manifested by their Ideya. Only Visitors with a complete set of Ideya stand a chance of remembering their adventures in the Night Dimension, and they are the only ones that can cross from their Nightopias to another Visitor's Nightopia. Both Visitors must possess a full set of Ideya, although they don't have to have the Ideya on them for the crossover.
And yes, much of the application was CaPed from my application for NiGHTS and Reala. It was saner.
