Light was sitting on the bench, waiting for his "friend Ryuuga Hideki" to come over. He did nothing except watch the sky while he waited. L was supposed to give him some hints on the Kira case or something since he was interested in getting Light's help. A chuckle escaped Light. It was interesting. The man that L wanted to help him was the man that L was looking for. He'll never find out though, Light thought. It's only a matter of time, L. When I find out your real name, you're going to die. Soon he appeared in all of his simplistic glory. Slumped over, as usual, L looked a little surprised. Light saw this and frowned.
"Ryuuga, what's the matter?"
"Light-kun, there's something new that I've never seen before. The entire student body is gathered around it."
"Eh?"
L walked off, leaving Light no choice but to follow. As he had said, there was a whole group of people standing and gawking at it. Light saw it. It looked like a rip... but it was a rip in the air. Light grimaced.
"What is it?"
L frowned.
"I don't know, but if I had to guess, I would have to say it was a rip in the dimension."
Light looked at L as if he were mad.
"What makes you say that?"
"Because, Light-kun, what else could it be? This is something we've never seen before, so I can only assume what it is."

Meanwhile on the other side, a fight had broke out in front of the ITS between Mario and Dimentio. Mario furiously tried to defend the ITS while Dimentio planned on using it for...something. Mario wasn't sure but he could tell it was for some evil purpose. Dimentio fired multiple magic blasts which Mario managed to dodge easily enough. Both of them were getting tired and the battle seemed to be just repeating itself in an endless cycle of exchanging blasts and dodging. Finally Dimentio decided this was getting useless and he charged at Mario full speed which caught him off guard and knocked him inside the ITS and both of them flew through the newly opened portal.
On the other side at the university, the two flew out. Mario skid across the ground while Dimentio swooped back up into the air.
"That was pathetic!" Dimentio sneered.
"Shut your face Dimentio," Mario countered ",You caught me off guard. That won't happen again!"

As the two flew out, the crowd scattered. Light and L looked and saw the two fighting. Light had a shocked look. L looked a little stunned, but that was it.
"That was pathetic!" Dimentio sneered.
"Shut your face Dimentio," Mario countered ",You caught me off guard. That won't happen again!"
That man's name is Dimentio then... I will have to remember that. But I can't kill him here. L would see and then all suspicion of me being Kira would be concluded... Maybe I can use him to my own ends, Light thought.
L had different thoughts. If Matt were here, he might have a heart attack. So that's Mario... Maybe, after he's done attacking this villain, I should get an autograph from him to take to Matt.

Dimentio charged up another magic blast only this one grew larger.
"What are you doing!? There's innocent people here!" Mario shouted looking around at all the surprised faces.
"Do you honestly think I care? I want you dead!" Dimentio replied angrily.
"You asked for it then," Mario smirked. His hands lit on fire as he held out a strange glowing orb ",I've been keeping this handy for some time now." The orb shattered and absorbed into his body causing him to glow.
"What the hell!?"
Mario jumped back and aimed his hands towards Dimentio who had now realized he was in trouble and had lost his charged blast. Suddenly an enormous blast of fire shot from Mario's hands. After it was over Mario dropped to his knees breathing heavily. Dimentio was nowhere to be seen.

Light had looked up and seen the energy blast. All the students were screaming except he and L. But that didn't mean Light didn't look scared shitless. L, on the other hand, looked shocked now. He was a detective, not a superhero. They were all doomed. But then Mario pulled out an orb. Light, nor L, knew what it was, but if Matt were there, he would've probably screamed out...
"OH MY GOD! HE HAS A SMASH BALL!"
Well apparantly there was a video game geek here at the university. Mario unleashed his Mario Finale and Dimentio was gone. Light kept his mind on the man's name and face until it was completely absorbed into his mind, but... until he entered their dimension again, Light couldn't kill them.
Everyone else was too scared to approach Mario and Light didn't want to, afraid Mario would see through him and dub him a bad person, which would make L's suspicions of him being Kira, which he was, go up. But L did walk up to Mario.
"Are you alright Mario-san?"

"Huh?" Mario looked up at L ",Uh...yeah. How'd you know my name?" He stood up stumbling a bit but regaining his footing.

L sighed, wondering how he was going to explain this before beginning.
"I know your name, Mario-san, because in this dimension, you are nothing more then a video game character created by the mind of Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who started the series of Mario games in the Nintendo Corperation. My friend, Matt, plays the games with you a lot, and he's an absolute fan of yours. If it weren't for that, I would not know if you, Mario-san, because I, myself, do not play video games."
His name is Mario, but he's a good guy, and Kira cleanses evil... Evil only... This man will live, Light thought.

Mario stared at him blankly for a second then decided to change the subject to avoid further confusion.
"Sorry for all the fireworks and stuff," Mario apologized not only to him but to everyone else around him ",I honestly didn't want to draw to much attention to myself but I didn't have much of a choice in such a situation."

Light blinked, then replied, smiling softly.
"Oh. That's ok. If you hadn't done anything, all of us would've probably been killed."
But inside Light's mind, things were different. He could become a future obsticle if L decides to tell him about the case.
"Mario-san, we understand why you had to do what you did," L said. "You saved all of us here at To-Oh University and, for that, we are extremely grateful."
"Dude, your games suck!"
L turned to face the guy who said that and began walking over to him slowly, still in a slump.
"You know... he just saved your life."
The guy was backing up.
"Stay away from me, you freak!" he yelled at L.
"Not until you appologize," L said. His insomniac look gave him a creepy figure and eventually the guy yelled out "I'M SORRY!" before turning and running away. L got aplause from the other students coming back over.

L pulled out a piece of paper and a pen.
"Forgive me for asking this of you, Mario-san, but my friend Matt would be overjoyed if he could have an autograph from you. He's a big fan, you see."

"Thank you, Mario-san. Light-kun, I will be leaving campus early to drop this off at Matt's. Do you think you could get the class assignments for me?"
"Not a problem Ryuzaki."
If Mario had ever watched Death Note, he would know the name Ryuzaki right off the back. Odds were he didn't, but other animes and games are animes and games in a certain dimension.
