If you want a great (and free!) alternative to Photoshop, I recommend GIMP. The only real downside to GIMP is it can't truly work with CMYK coloring (even the plug-in for that only mimics this function) but unless you're a graphic artist planning on printing stuff, that isn't an issue.
So I reccommend GIMP. :3
As for the controllers... probably because the owner of the Wii doesn't have any more Wiimotes. Gamecube controllers are compatible with the Wii in some games (and not just Virtual Console and Game Cube ones.)
