Physical Description
Anzu is a Japanese teenager of fairly average height and a rather slim build. Her skin is on the pale side of average and well taken care of. She doesn't spend a huge amount of time getting ready in the morning, but she does care about and take care of her looks. She has blue eyes that at first glance seem masculine to many, but her expressions and mannerisms are quite feminine.
She has hair that is probably best described as being on the long end of short or the short end of medium. It is chocolate brown and the majority of the bangs come up from the right side of her forehead. She has more bangs that hang down to just above her eyes, and they will on occasion fall just barely in front of her eyes, but she doesn't seem to like them being concealed in this manner. Her hair curls around her neck at a fair distance creating a shape something just past a half circle. It is cut straight across at the bottom, but curls in in a manner that makes the front of her hair sometimes seem a bit longer than the back.
Anzu likes to dress in a feminine and fashionable manner, but she also dresses as the situation dictates. She has expressed dislike in uniforms but tries to wear them in the proper fashion, be it a school or work uniform. She likes short skirts and form hugging outfits. She seems to favor shoes with large soles, but not so much high heels. She often shows a lot of skin with her outfits, but they really aren't all that revealing. Her collars tend to be high. She prefers sleeveless outfits as well.
When she comes to the Island, Anzu is wearing an outfit that matches her standard style preference. She has on a short black shirt with no sleeves and a high turtleneck like collar. The shirt is short enough that it exposes her belly button. She has on a short red form hugging skirt that only comes about halfway down her thighs and rests on her hips. She is wearing a white belt that is held on with a simple rectangular silver belt buckle and is looped through the standard belt strips seen on pants. Her shoes are tall white boots with no significant heels that come up to just past the halfway point of her lower legs. On her left wrist is a simple silver watch and around her neck is a nondescript rectangular silver pendant held on with black string. The pendant hangs to down to where her breasts first start.
Weapons
Anzu doesn't have any weapons on her nor is she really all that capable of using any except in cases of makeshift desperation. In terms of non-traditional weapon usage, she does have a deck of Duel Monsters cards and on the Island she would be able to manifest the monster spirits known as Ka from them. She doesn't have the slightest clue about this ability, although it is likely she'll learn about it quickly.
Abilities/Powers
Anzu can summon the Ka from any card from her homeworld and use the power of her Ba to cast spells or use the traps the cards describe, although its more a power connected to her homeworld and the cards therein rather than something unique to her. Like all the people from her homeworld, she has a few Ka she could reasonably access without having the cards and various potentials related to that ability. She isn't aware of it at first, but the one Ka she could access like this for sure is the Ka known as Saint Magician (known in the dub as Magician of Faith) and there is at least in theory others.
Due to changes to the very fabric of Fate made thanks to actions by Atem, she also has a connection to one of the Millennium Items. The Millennium Key has attached itself to her and if she realized it she could in theory use their powers and even start a Game of Darkness via it if she were so inclined. Anzu's connection to the Items is unique in the same way Jounouchi's is. Atem's decisions have caused the Items to find masters connected to Atem in his new future rather than just his ancient past.
Skills
Anzu is an amazing dancer and always willing to learn more things relating to it. She has been interested in dancing for a very long time and even dreams of dancing in Broadway musicals one day. She eagerly takes new chances to learn how to dance and is a fast learner.
She's a great pillar of support for her friends as well. Some people get tired of her insistence on the power of friendship, but she is good at making her points and good at getting people to believe in their personal power. She's rather observant at times as well, often able to notice little personality idiosyncrasies others may miss. This is balanced by the fact that she often won't mention what she's noticing.
She's not all that great at Duel Monsters but she is a fairly fast learner and could probably manage some regional championships if she really focused on it. Really, she's more into it because Yuugi is, although she's better at it than Honda is.
Personality
Anzu is a kindhearted girl who wants what is best for her friends and will fight for it. She's fairly observant but sometimes errs on the side of not hurting people's feelings. She doesn't like seeing anyone in pain and is not unknown for stuffing things because she is afraid of hurting peoples' feelings. She is fairly indecisive at times, known for not making any decision between two because she can't pick one. She is the type that will allow herself to be hurt if it means not hurting those she cares about, and it is perfectly within her character to make a decision she would greatly regret all because she was afraid of how her friends would react.
She's really rather stubborn too, and tries her best to stand up for the little guy as best she can without trampling on people's feelings. She doesn't really grasp how fighting can be a sign of friendship and she'll often get quite upset and flustered over such ideas. She is good at giving speeches and she operates on emotions far more than logic. She is likely to state an opinion in an emotional state of mind, her worry and grief making her not realize that what she's saying just makes people feel bad. While she is observant, her emotions are known for getting in the way of making decisions. She's fairly good emotional support, but when it comes to actually getting things done she tends to either due it on leap before look impulse or not at all.
History
Anzu's life up until about a year and a half or so ago was pretty normal. She was a bit of a tomboy as a kid, but always willing to beat the crap out of the neighborhood bullies. She had a bit of a reputation of being the "scary" girl. She met Yuugi when they were both in first grade and after she chased off some bullies the two became really good friends. She'd always attracted more male friends than female ones. As she got older she gained some interest in being feminine, and around the time Yuugi found a gold box in his grandfather's shop, she got interested in dancing. Yuugi began to grow away a bit with the Puzzle, but she tried to stay near him and offer her his support while learning to be a dancer. Somewhere in Junior High, she managed to develop a slight crush on the teenager but never really acted on it. For one, he was so short and just really nice. She didn't want to hurt his feelings.
In her second year of high school, she had to rescue the gold box from a group of school bullies, namely one Katsuya Jounouchi and his everpresent "sidekick", Hiroto Honda. Yuugi didn't seem to realize they were actually picking on him, but she liked that kindness to him and chose not to correct him much. She'd been meaning to ask about the box for a while, and Yuugi was more than willing to share information about it, seemingly excited she'd shown interest. Turned out it was some kind of puzzle.
Anzu was the first one to notice the changes, and she didn't miss that they occurred after Yuugi came to school with the puzzle completed. The "Millennium Puzzle" from Egypt had taken the form of an inverted gold pyramid and Yuugi was never seen without it. It was around that time that Anzu put several pieces together, realizing that under the right circumstances Yuugi showed a far more mature side to his personality. Thinking it some kind of personality issue, she took several steps to try and draw out this "Other Yuugi". It nearly got her killed several times, and more and more she began to doubt that her "mysterious rescuer" and Yuugi were the same person.
It was during the Death-T event that she decided once more they were the same person. Honda had just gotten himself killed (or so they thought) and Yuugi had finally broken down. He couldn't bear that his friend was dead, and Anzu really had no words to console them. He told them about the personality that would surface from time to time, and it was a case where Anzu acted on leap before looking emotion. Of course it was Yuugi, it was just a stronger side of himself. With the encouragement from his friends, Yuugi and his other personality were able to clear Death-T. That other personality saved them once more after a transfer student named Ryou Bakura showed (rather unwillingly) that he also had another personality, this one far less altruistic than The Other Yuugi. He was able to save Bakura despite the white haired teenager attempting to sacrifice his life.
The next significant event involved the soul of Yuugi's grandfather being stolen by the creator of the Duel Monsters card game, a man by the name of Pegasus J. Crawford. While the two Yuugis were able to get Jounouchi onto the ship to the Duelist Kingdom that Pegasus had forced Yuugi to participate in, she and Honda had to sneak on as stowaways. They met up with the group again on the Island and it was there that it finally hit home to Anzu that the two Yuugis really were different people. Anzu let her emotion rule her actions and she went up against a championship Duelist by the name of Mai Kujaku. Interestingly, she did really well. She managed to make her point well enough that Mai surrendered even though she'd drawn a card that would let her win. While all this was good for Yuugi, it created a point of severe emotional duress for Anzu. She'd liked Yuugi for a while, but now she wasn't sure which "Yuugi" she liked more.
A lot more events happened after Duelist Kingdom, and Anzu still didn't know which of the Yuugis she liked. Yuugi was convinced she liked his other self more, going so far as to say it at least once. It just made Anzu feel bad, because she couldn't give him a straight answer. At one point Yuugi set up a date with her and his other self, and it only made the girl more confused. The events that transpired were many. A virtual RPG in which they had to save Kaiba, a city wide tournament that involved the emergence of even more Millennium Items and the beginning of The Other Yuugi's quest to regain his memories, an encounter with the digital ghost of Kaiba's brother via adoption, an encounter with a underground super organization and Atlantis, various tournaments, and many other things. No matter what happened, Anzu still couldn't figure out which Yuugi she liked more.
It was when Yuugi left for Egypt that she found herself in the most pain. She'd seen the signs. The Other Yuugi was going to have to leave one day, and more than anything she didn't want that. How could The Other Yuugi abandon the friends he'd made in this life? Despite her emotional duress, she knew she had to be there and used the money she had been saving to go to America to go there. She also paid for the tickets for Jounouchi and Honda, and pretty much spent all of her savings with little to no idea how they'd get back. She just knew she had to be there. In Egypt she met a surprised Yuugi. She bought a silver cartouche and gave it to The Other Yuugi, telling him that he should put his name on it when he learned it so he'd never forget it again. This pained The Other Yuugi, but he accepted the kindness gratefully.
With help from the three members of the Ishtar family that they had met during Battle City, the group found where the plaque that The Other Yuugi would need to use to regain his memories was. He held up the three God Cards to the plaque and Yuugi informed the group he was gone. Yuugi, due to his strong and long connection to the "Nameless Pharaoh" knew he was having trouble and with help from the mysterious ghost Shaadi, she accompanied Yuugi and his other friends to The Other Yuugi's "Memory World". In fact, it was their presence and efforts there that allowed The Nameless Pharaoh to remember his name via the power of friendship.
Anzu was very glad "Atem" had regained his memories after they left, but she was treating the whole situation with apprehension. Now that Atem knew who he was, wouldn't he have to leave? She didn't want that, she really didn't want that. Even though she'd finally found her feelings solidifying towards Yuugi due to some of his actions against Dark Bakura in the Memory World, she felt pain she could never put into words over the thought of Atem leaving. She was so wrapped up in these thoughts that she was practically yanked out of them when Jounouchi told her to help them with Bakura, whom they had found unconscious in the ruins with the plaque.
Anzu was running towards them when she felt the ground shaking. She managed to stumble up a few steps and look up in time to see patches of the area simply vanishing into a void like black mass. She found herself trying to scream but being unable to, hearing words from Kaiba about Yuugi and other such things. She was turning around at this point with her only thoughts being on Yuugi and Atem when the ground gave out from under her and her vision blacked out... completely unaware she'd just traveled to another dimension.
Other
Anzu will have the Millennium Key as one of her possessions when she arrives in the RP. I didn't list it as I don't plan on her having it for long. Her connection to it is listed in Powers. Her canon uses parts of the the manga, the original anime, and Duel Monsters/second anime, but its all Japanese. Most of her canon comes from the second series and there is some slight fanon mixed in there.
