Physical Description
Link is a tall teenager whose features would be described as European if compared to people of our world. He has some light muscular development visible in short sleeves. If he were to take off his shirt, the appearance of being lightly developed would jump to moderately developed, as there is no illusion about his chest being developed. Its not over the top though. His complexion is average, and he has the long pointed ears of all humans in his homeworld.
Link keeps his hair cut short, not a strand one falls past his neck. He doesn't like his bangs to be in his face, so while they are a bit long he has it styled so that they sweep to the left. A chunk falls in front of his ears on either side, the tip falling to the middle of his neck. The color is that of dark straw. He has fairly intense and somewhat narrow blue eyes, but when accompanied with his usual smirk they tend to carry quite a bit of cocky arrogance. He's capable of other expressions, but the aforementioned is his most common.
Link's standard attire involves t-shirts and pants. He likes varieties that breathe well and are easy to move in. He does favor boots, but he only likes soft-soled ones that allow him to remain agile. In colder weather he tends to like longsleeved shirts and pants of heavier fabric, but he still likes to move easily. He is not uninclined to jackets, how heavy they are depending entirely on the weather.
When he comes to the Island, his outfit is anything but his preferred. He is in the spring-summer male uniform of his Mori High School, his local public high school. The uniform consists of a light green t-shirt with a dark green sailor collar over the shoulders. The collar has a single gold stripe near the bottom edge. A tie is tied underneath the collar and is dark brown. It has a flat bottom and a gold stripe is near the lower edge.
Just above the gold stripe is a small version of the school crest, which is a dark grey shield shape bordered in light grey with parts that are a bit jagged towards the center. The center has a shape from myth that is rumored to have been the shape the holy stone of the forest in the mythical kingdom of Hyrule was housed in. Link isn't aware of any significance and he actually isn't unknown for ignoring the school fashion and not wearing it.
The pants of his uniform are green and worn a bit loosely. They aren't anywhere near pressed despite that being considered proper by the school. His footwear is the default style allowed by the school as that style happens to fall into the style he prefers. They are soft-soled brown leather boots with the top giving the illusion of being rolled down. He often doesn't tuck his pants into them, another mild sign of his rebellion.
Whatever he is wearing, he likes to keep a small loop earring in his left ear. Blue and gold are common color choices.
Weapons
Link has a kendo stick on him when he comes to the Island. For those that don't know, a kendo stick is a practice weapon used to train in the Japanese sport of kendo. It is basically a bamboo stick with a handle, and it hurts like hell to be hit by it. This is doubly true if the person is good at kendo. Make no mistake, it is a weapon. Link tends to keep it strapped to his back so he can grab it with his left (dominant) hand via a simple leather holding device.
Abilities/Powers
Link doesn't have any abilities/powers, per se. Being the destined bearer of the Triforce of Courage may qualify, but he is not truly representative of it at this point in his characterization. While it could fly to him if the Triforce were separated, he wouldn't really be able to access it. His power stops before actuality at the point of potential.
Skills
Link is a very good athlete. If one were to fit him into standard high school stereotypes, he'd be a jock. He's not stupid, but he doesn't really try in school. He's barely passing as a result. He's extremely agile and observant. He can pick up on what his opponent is trying to do and create strategies as a result. Problem is his arrogance can get in the way.
His greatest skill comes out on the kendo field. He's damn good with that sword (and boy does he know it). It is no understatement to say he could probably wipe the floor in tournaments if his attitude didn't get him banned from them.
Personality
Link is a jerk. He's arrogant, he's cocky, he's mean. He, to put it simply, is a chauvinistic jackass. He seems to think everyone should respect him and gets annoyed when people don't worship the ground he walks on. He is a bully with a tendency to pick on the "geek" stereotypes and he never seems to tire of hearing how great he is. He revels in his female fans (and he has quite a few) and is often blind to the fact that a lot of people don't like him.
He has issues with trust. He doesn't believe anyone will stick around for long and treats everyone as disposable. He despises authority figures and finds most adults to be worthless. He often gets into fights of both the verbal and physical sort, but he manages to dodge the rules quite a bit. He's chosen to quit many sports just before being kicked off the team, so he does seem to have an eye for when he has pushed things too far. People who don't fight back annoy the hell out of him, and he'll pick on them more than anyone else.
Link has a severe need to learn his limits. He doesn't even seem to think he has them. His attitude is partially a result of trying to keep people at a distance, but its not as much from fear of rejection as honestly thinking he is better than everyone else. He's only had a few situations he couldn't win, and only when he was younger. He feels he has to take care of everything himself as clearly no one else can.
History
Link was actually born in the countryside, in an area where several farms were packed closely together. He was a cheerful and energetic kid with both his parents there to support his odd hobbies. As a little boy he'd often run off into the forest bordering his house. He would tell his mother that he saw faeries there, and she'd laugh and tell him there was something special about that forest.
He had a best friend during that first eight or so years of his life. Her name was Ruby and she had long red hair and dreamed of owning a ranch when she grew up. A few times Link took Ruby to his favorite place in the forest, and when Ruby and her parents had an issue with a horse being birthed, Link did everything he could to comfort her. Ruby chose the name Epona for the pony as a joke to some bed time stories her parents told her. When pressured, she informed him they were the Legends of Zelda, and the Hero in them shared Link's name.
When Link was about eight, he got himself lost in the forest near his home. He was gone for three days, and his mother had gone out after him on the second. Ruby chased after the woman to try and help Link, and ended up getting lost herself. While Link's mother found him, she got cut in the woods during the attempt. When she realized Ruby had gotten lost there too, she refused to go home. All three of them came back at the end of the three days thanks to Link's mother, but it turned out she'd gotten poisoned. She became sick and died.
Link blamed Ruby for the incident, and Link's father blamed him. Link began to treat Ruby cruelly, and she eventually broke off from him in a massive fight where she called him an idiot. As this was developing, Link's father developed a severe drinking and gambling problem and ended up losing their farm as a result. An unexpected job opportunity came from the closest city, Hojoshi City. Ruby tried to talk to Link, realizing he was going away, but he gave her the cold shoulder and they separated with the rift in place.
Link's attitude never really improved from that. His father continued to have problems, and Link decided the man was worthless. It was common for him to come home late at night and not wake up in the morning. He managed to hold various jobs, but most of them didn't last long. Link's change of attitude into thinking he was better than everyone else came as a result of comparing himself to his father. He got into sports as a stress management method, and that didn't help his ego. Adults were worthless, and the events with both Ruby and his family convinced him you couldn't rely on anyone but yourself.
The boy was a problem in school due to these personality traits, and he became something of a popular delinquent. He never pushed the rules past the breaking point, but he often came close. When he got into high school, he met a teenager by the name of Akhar Chikara. The red haired boy seemed to have issues. He was known for suddenly jumping up in the middle of class and running off. He always carried a leatherbound book with him, a rare copy of the collected Legends of Zelda. This pissed Link off even more than the boy's shy, sheepish, and never fighting back attitude and from the first day of high school on, Link made Akhar his main target.
About a month ago, Link began having strange dreams. Oppressing darkness, more oppressing than any words could describe. Indescribable pain he couldn't react to, he could just suffer. Always the dream would shift with a blinding light. Discomfort on the back of his left hand. A voice calling to him, telling him he had to do something but as he was now he couldn't accomplish it. He could never find the source of the voice, the present. One day recently after the dreams, he ran into a girl from the snooty Trinity's Light All Girl's Private School. An encounter with this Zelda lead to him getting his ass kicked by a woman named Impa and said woman seeming to stare into his soul.
A few days after that odd occurrence, Link had another round of harassing Akhar. Actually, Link was beginning to notice something slightly different about his favorite target, but he couldn't put his finger on it. When he heard the voice from his dreams on the way home, he threw caution to the wind and took a route different than usual through the small forest sized park he often went through on his way to and from school. He didn't expect to fall in a pit in the cave, to black out, and wake up someplace that felt like anything but Hojoshi City and its thick foliage... he'd managed to get brought to Dimension Island.
Other
This is not a canon Link. After extensive discussion with NN1 it was decided the Link and Zelda from my fanfiction qualify as canon based original characters. Akhar on his own does as well, but due to some specifics in regards to his character, he'll end up overlapping with a canon sign up. This Link is to the canon links the way Twilight Princess' Link is to Ocarina of Time's Link.
PS - Yes, his surname is the romaji for the word that means Courage.
