(for now it's me, Felix, FF, and Gantz, whenever you can get in, buddy. Anyone else want in, talk to meh
NOTE: Takes place after "The Flying City" and whatever threads may come directly after it.)
It was... such a strange feeling! The ability to take a stroll out of the village and NOT feel like one was on the lookout for enemies! It was... nice. Refreshing. Euphoric.
Double D had to admit, though their move to Bonsai Village was under abrupt and frightening circumstances, he felt the change of scenery was doing him a world of wonders, if not anyone else around him. There was just... something about the crisp cool air and the whispering trees around them that was just so calming. It might've helped that his senses were clearer than ever and allowed him to soak it all in on non-human levels.
And with many of his troubles solved, he felt that much more at ease. He even felt safe enough to bring his family out with him. Felix was walking to his left, Marion cooing in his arms, and Kyle was to his right; he had accepted Double D's offer to join them in this stroll.
And for a moment... if only a moment... all was right with the world.

Finally. The chaos has subsided. The world is at a somewhat tolerable level of balance. Though evil never rests, our fight is over for now. Whatever time we have, we've earned. We should use this time with each other, keep close. Oni is gone and the Wizard is finished. It's finally time to just relax. Felix smiled, these thoughts in his mind. It had been forever since he had peace and now it was all around. The atmosphere was loving and the world was spinning delightfully. Oni had been exorcised, like Masahiro promised, even if he hadn't been the one to carry it out. The Wizard had been defeated, Felix and Edd proving that they were righteous and that emotions were not a weakness, but a strength.
And now that both threats were gone, it was finally time to relax... or so they thought. But evil NEVER rests. And the next event to come would be one that would test a frail angel's mind, his lover's sanity, and the hearts of both their friends.

Kyle had to admit, it was a nice day.
The past few weeks had been hectic for him. He'd gotten Oni exorcised, but... it hadn't been in the method they had thought it would happen. For one, Kyle had had to die in order to get his body back all to himself. That hadn't been how they wanted it to happen, but that was how it had happened. A bounty hunter with the same predicament Kyle had attacked him, ended up going after Double D so he'd stop getting in the way, and Kyle had jumped in the way. The only reason Kyle was alive now was because he'd forced Oni to give him this body... after the large hole in his chest had regenerated and Oni had already started shaping it to his own true form. It had taken forever to get his nails filed back down to a normal shape again.
Then the business with the Wizard had occurred. Double D hadn't let him come along for that, and to be honest, Kyle had been kind of glad. He'd heard about the Wizard before. Not much, just about how he could control people. Kyle's own father had ended up in the Wizard's prototype utopia out in the desert. Kyle didn't know where he was now, but he'd never really gotten along with the man. His opinion really wasn't helped by finding out his own father was the one who had put the bounty on his head in the first place.
When Kyle found out Double D wanted to take him with him to Bonsai Village, he was filled with nothing short of glee. This was his family now, and he was going to stay with them, and protect them if he could, though he was pretty sure Double D and Felix could do that without his help.
Of course, he had no idea how wrong he was...

For the moment, Double D didn't have time to think of what possibly could be. Look at everything they had faced so far! Why dread upcoming struggles when they would only band together and swiftly...!
"....AACK!!" Double D suddenly reeled back, hit with an overpowering stencth of something rather foul. Covering his nose, his eyes tearing, he faced the other three, who seemed unaffected and confused by his behavior. "Y-you don't smell that? God, it's PUTRID~!"

"I don't... Eh?" Felix noticed a figure running from somewhere. Turned out to be Masahiro with a hand over his nose. "Eh? Masahiro?"
"The dark woods near the Koi River seemed darker as of late. I went to scout, but was turned away by one of the nastiest smells ever conceived."
"Ahhh... Edward, could it be you're smelling that?"
"Angel of Light... a penance to find evil... or should I say sniff it out?" Masahiro chuckled at his joke. Felix rolled his eyes.

Kyle blinked as Double D covered his nose. "...I don't smell anything... but something seems off."
He blinked as he saw Masahiro running their way. Once Masahiro finished speaking, Kyle closed his eyes and clenched one hand into a fist. Since he'd separated from Oni, he'd hadn't had as much of a problem with using those shadow powers granted to him by the demon, though it still bothered him a fair bit. At the moment, he was trying to sense the darkness around him...
Almost immediately, he drew back, finally smelling what the others were. "Yeah, I can feel it too. Ugh, it's really bad, too... what is that?"

Oh, good. It wasn't just him. Even Kyle was sensing it. That was all reassuring.
Double D sighed. "Yes, quite humorous, Masahiro." He tested the air with his aura-reading, but flinched when that response was even worse... ugh. Looked like the nose would be the best option for seeking it out.
"Ngh..." Reluctantly, he drew his hand back and sniffed the foul odor, shuddering and jerkingly nodding his head in the direction he sensed it. "Th...this way," he gagged.
They didn't have to travel far. Reaching the top of the closest hill, the group, by now practically covering their lower faces with their shirts, froze, having found the source of the stentch.
Below them, right up against the Edge, sat a pit of dark ooze, bubbling like a tar pit, and around it stood tall, jagged, petrified trees, as barren and black as the sludge they grew from. The ground around this eyesore was dried and cracked, heavily contrasting to the luscious forests that stood just behind them.
".....uuugh...!" Double D reviled in disgust. Not just at the smell and sight of decay, but... at something much deeper.

"I remember the Dark Forest from the Koi River when I was just a Fallen," Felix said. "Edward and I had started dating..."
"I tried to kill you," Masahiro said.
"Everything about that forest seemed wrong and yet... now it's just... uuuuugh!" Felix groaned.
"The land itsself has died. We must proceed with caution. Any wrong move could be fatal in and of itsself," Masahiro said.

Kyle ended up having to pull back his darkness sense as they got closer. The stench was just getting too strong. The source was easily found, though. He took a step back as he saw the decay.
"What on...? Ugh..." He looked away. "Whatever that stuff is... it isn't normal. And... urk..." He took a couple steps away.
"That's powerful darkness... I can feel it even now, prickling my skin... Double D, what is that?" Kyle asked as he stepped back. That was one of the downfalls of being what was technically considered a "dark" being. He was more sensitive to darker energies, and they had more of an effect on him than they would light beings like Felix and Double D. Damn Oni.

"...no... it's not normal at all," Double D replied softly, taking a few staggering steps closer down the hill in contrast to everyone else. "...it reeks of darkness... but of a kind I've never felt before. It feels... old and bitter. Ancient."
His hands and eyes were glowing before he realized it. It was as if his internal energies were innately drawing his body closer to this cesspool of darkness, knowing this entity had to be destroyed.

"Evil to be destroyed... we must make away with it quickly, I suppose. I have to visit Perceval, see if he's recovered," Masahiro said.
"Ever since that ambush, you've done nothing but worry. Perceval will live," Felix said. "I promise."
"You'd do the same if it was you and Double D," Masahiro muttered.
"... Touche," Felix admitted, dropping the argument there.

Kyle stepped further away from the dark muck. It felt like it was trying to pull him in...
"You guys are going to have to do it... I don't think I can do a thing toward darkness this strong," Kyle said. Not like he was exactly fond of those powers in the first place. They were his constant reminder of the five years of torment he'd spent at the hands of Oni.
He looked toward Masahiro. "Um... hey, mind if I go with you when you go to visit him? I heard those... bastards hurt him really bad... I want to see if he's okay too."

Double D stepped slowly, getting as close as he could without his body growing physically ill. Gulping, he raised his hand, his body ready and willing just as he to get RID of this diseased sight, and from it poured a beam of light, striking the tary pit with a flash and a gurgle.
The beam faltered once he realized it wasn't doing any good, and finally began to take a step back as the pit burbled, the trees shaking and descending into the ground. It looked as though the extermination was successful, but any respectable aura-reader could tell it was far, far from that.
What looked to be an even larger tree, as if all the trees had gathered together from within, slowly arose from pit, agonizingly slow. It was forked with branches especially at the top, symattrical like a totem head. And when it slowly began to turn around, revealing a demonic face with great flaming eyebrows, Double D began to realize what he had just done.
"..oh... no."
The great figure remained stoic at first, though his face soon cracked in a slow, deep laugh, one that eventually ascended into a mighty cackle.
"At last..." his mighty voice drawled in a most sinister fashion. "Loooong have I awaited my release... looong before this acursed forum had been created... and now I am FREE to smite this portal to all worlds...As I did to the world already claimed as my own...!"
His attention quickly turned down to those below him, and he smirked. "Soooo... which one of you urchins is respoinsible for awakening me?"

Masahiro and Felix watched as Aku began to tower up. When he was finished, their reactions were equally as amusing as they were... fitting.
Masahiro's eye of destruction twitched, his irritation obvious. "Didn't we just get through two cataclysmic events already?" he asked.
Felix, unfortunately, was more vocal in his anger. "FOR FUCK'S SAKE, CAN'T ANYTHING GO RIGHT?! ISN'T THERE AT LEAST ONE DAY WE CAN GO WITHOUT FUCKING DEMONS, OVER-RELIGIOUS DICKHEADS, OR JUST ANYTHING EVIL CRAWLING OUT OF THE FUCKING EARTH'S CORE?! I AM GETTING SICK OF THIS SHIT!"
"Did you get it all out of your system?" Masahiro looked a little stunned.
"YES! YES I DID... right now."

Kyle had started inching a bit closer once he Double D fired the beam of light into the pool, but when it began to bubble, he jumped back away from it. His eyes widened as he was what could only be a demon rising from it. He gulped as it asked his question.
"I-I did!" Kyle lied. He'd always been a bit of the self-sacrificing type. However, Aku could probably sense his dark aura, and that would be enough to tell the dark being that Kyle was lying.

Mr. Copycat put his teacup down on a table in Bonsai Village.
...What was that...? It felt dark. Like nothing I've ever felt before, Mr. Copycat observed. He winced as he came to his feet, supporting himself with a cane. He looked toward the teashop owner. "Satoshi, I'm going out. Just put that on my tab, okay?"
The shop owner shrugged as Mr. Copycat headed out of the teashop and toward the edge.
