THE TRAINER
Full Name: Blue Oak
Titles/Nicknames: Leader Blue, Professor Oak's Grandson
Age: 14
Height: Average
Weight: Average
Gender: Male
Alliance: Neutral
Home: Pallet Town, Kanto
Franchise: Pokémon (games)
Physical Description
Blue is a fairly nondescript teenager of average height and weight (worth note is that this puts him as noticeably taller than his rival, Red). His hair is of a lighter shade of brown, bordering orange in the right lights. Its rather spiky, particularly in the front. It sweeps to the side just right to avoid getting in his eyes. His hair is on the long end of short, and he allows the spiky cut to fall about halfway down his neck. His eyes are the same shade of brown as his hair.
The teenager has a wide variety of outfits, and has shown preference for the color purple in the past. He doesn't seem stuck in the tendency to wear the same outfit all the time as many characters are, and actually prefers to change his clothes daily when he's not on the road. As such, its rather likely his outfit will change, and the following reflects what he is wearing when he arrives on the Island.
Blue wears a white t-shirt with a black leather jacket over the top of it. The jacket is a touch short, although it's out of style rather than not fitting properly. The top of the jacket has a soft white collar and the style makes the zipper hard to see. He tends to wear it zipped up. It has two large breast pockets, one on either side. It snaps shot with a single button, which are black and blend well with the jacket.
He has slightly baggy khaki pants on. They have the usual pockets on the side and there are two on the back. Less usual are the two large pockets at the same level of his upper thighs. They open the same manner as his jacket pockets do, but are held shut with velcro straps. Through the belt loops of his pants is a black belt with a large silver buckle.
Blue wears walking boots, although that fact is a bit hard to see due to his pants. They are dark grey with black soles and look well used. Around his neck, Blue wears a silver locket with a domed top. Its hard to tell its a locket until he opens it up. Inside is a photo of his older sister Daisy, holding a Cleffa.
Weapons
Blue doesn't have any weapons, nor does he need them with his skill level as a Pokemon Trainer. However, he's not unskilled at using tools from his environment to his advantage.
Abilities/Powers
Blue doesn't have any abilities or powers, being an ordinary human.
Skills
Blue is highly skilled at Pokemon battling. He is considered one of the tougher Gym Leaders in his world, although this may be related to his insistence on not using an elemental theme with his team. On that note, he is skilled at strategy, balance, and makeshift strategies, all elements of being a good battler.
He is also fairly knowledgeable about the facts side of Pokemon, an indirect result of being mostly raised by his grandfather, Professor Oak. Despite being a Gym Leader, though, he isn't all that knowledgeable about paperwork and related things. He has a lot of common skills seen of Pokemon Trainers, some better than others.
Personality
Blue is anything but a social butterfly. He doesn't like other people and he is not unknown for going out of his way to avoid them. He doesn't respect authority and is not shy about letting it be known. He's got a sharp tongue and uses it equally on all people. He's also rather arrogant and a fair bit cocky. This comes from skill as much as a poor personality. He does tend to be as good as he claims.
He has a bit of a skeptical nature to him. He rarely if ever believes something unless he sees it with his own eyes. When it comes to a person's skill as a Pokemon Trainer, he does seem to have an eye for it but will never accept it without a fight. His personality is the sort that means the more he harasses you, the more potential he tends to think you have. He's a bit obsessive in that his thoughts in training always seem to revolve around the two people he considers worthy rivals.
Blue will never turn down a challenge, although if he considers it a waste of his time he'll be sure to let you know. He's shown a tendency to be rather introspective. He considers most of humanity beneath him and his habit of avoiding people is as much to avoid the racket as anything else. When it comes to his Pokemon, he does care for them but this fact is rarely shown around others. In battle he seems a bit merciless and many would dislike how he seems to push his Pokemon.
History
Blue was born in Pallet Town fourteen years ago to a mother and father. His older sister Daisy was five at the time. For three years the family was happy enough. His grandfather worked at the lab with his father as an assistant. Their mother stayed at home. He was often taken by his mother to visit their neighbor, who had a boy his age named Red. However, one day the main family was out for a drive when a horrible car accident happened. Daisy was able to protect Blue, but both of their parents were killed.
Blue withdrew rather severely then, pouring himself into Pokemon study and pretty much cutting off communication with people and growing a bit cold towards his surviving family. The only one he treated with any decency from that point on was Daisy, and even with her it was slight. When Blue was eleven, he went to his grandfather's lab after being told to meet the man there. He reacted anything but well to find out the man wasn't there, and pretty much unloaded his frustration on Red when he realized he had been called as well. After the two of them came back to the lab, he "graciously" let Red pick a Pokemon first and went straight for the one that would be strong against Red's choice, regretting it as he lost that first fight.
From there he left both the lab and Pallet with parting insults for both Red and his grandfather. His dislike of human interaction meant he spent no more time in the cities than he had to. Really, he only ever went to investigate rumors of strong Pokemon and other such stuff. This allowed him to get far ahead of his neighbor and now rival, Red. He never went to Pokemon Centers unless his Pokemon were all but dying and treated them as tools. The one incident of kindness he showed was paying respect to his deceased Raticate in Lavender Town. This lead to another huge fight when Red showed up at the Tower.
Eventually, Blue became the Champion of Kanto. This lasted less than a week before Red showed up and proceeded to defeat him. After his grandfather showed up and gave him a firm tongue lashing over how to treat his Pokemon, Blue pretty much disappeared for about a year, when he came out of some obviously intensive training and wiped the floor with one of the many part time Gym Leaders that had been taking care of the Viridian Gym, setting himself up as the new official Gym Leader.
He continued to travel extensively and train even then. While his care for his Pokemon had seemed to grow in the past year, his dislike of humanity hadn't seemed to. It was quite the issue for the League, and Blue only showed up at the Gym just enough to avoid getting his title revoked. During one of his absences he caught wind of a series of events happening at Cinnabar Island involving a Pokemon that should have never existed.
Blue came up with the completely reckless plan to force the long dormant volcano on Cinnabar Island to erupt to deal with the situation that was growing steadily worse. Red adamantly opposed the plan, and after a long fight Blue just gave up. Red was suspicious, but didn't realize how justified he was until Blue vanished the next morning with a note informing the other boy that this plan was the only way.
The Pokemon that had been dubbed Missing No had however realized what was going on and pursued Blue. Seeing no other option now that his stubborn ass rival had made up his mind, Red cut Missing No off and got into a long drawn out fight with it. He managed to hold it off, but it resulted in both himself and his Pokemon nearly getting killed. After the incident, when Red woke up in the hospital, he found no gratitude from Blue. In fact, his rival all but ripped him a new one, going so far as to say his injuries were all his fault because he wouldn't trust Blue to handle things. This led to a widening of the chasm between the two boys to the point that they haven't talked for a solid six months, helped by Blue's continued extensive traveling and Red's decision to train at Mt. Silver.
Shortly after the incidents on Cinnabar, Blue returned to the all but destroyed Island to check for traces of Missing No. While he found none, he did run into a ten year old named Gold that annoyingly reminded him of Red. After a fight due to that resemblance, Blue informed him that he wasn't going to waste his time on someone who didn't even have seven badges from Kanto. When Gold returned with the Volcano Badge, he begrudgingly agreed to have a fight with the younger trainer.
At the Viridian Gym, Gold managed to defeat Blue and was one of only a handful of trainers to get the Earth Badge since Blue took over. From there Gold managed to defeat Lance, who had stepped up as Champion after Red was injured in the Cinnabar incident and had remained as Champion when Red chose not to return aftewards. With that Blue decided he had two people worthy of being his rival.
It was a few months later when Red's mother contacted Blue and begged him to find Red. The other teenager hadn't reported home for a full month despite his tendency to do so once a week even with his training. Annoyed that this was being dumped on him by his rival, Blue went to investigate at Mt. Silver. There he met a woman in an outfit belonging to no Team he'd heard of. She didn't speak to him, instead fighting him. He didn't realize she was buying time until the Earthquake hit and she fled the scene. He caught a glimpse of a large white Pokemon before his consciousness left him, unaware even then that the efforts of one reality had created ripples in several... the dimensional distortions would bring him to Dimension Island, and in a twist of fate to the same location Red had managed to get pulled to.
THE POKEMON (FOR STATISTICAL INFO, SEE AN ONLINE POKEDEX)
- Exeggutor -
Height:
Weight:
Gender: Male
Attacks
Leaf Storm, Psychic, Explosion, Trick Room
Skills
When in strong sunlight, Exeggutor speeds up. This is likely a result of being a plant and gaining energy from the sun. This is an ability known as Chlorophyll.
Personality
Blue's Exeggutor is a sore loser. He is a bit of a spoiled grouch, and not unknown for tantrums. He's fairly mischievous, but not all that good at his pranks and he doesn't react well when they don't work. He really enjoys battling.
- Machamp -
Height:
Weight:
Gender: Male
Attacks
Stone Edge, DynamicPunch, Fling, Attract
Skills
Machamp is able to hit his opponent with 100% accuracy at the cost of his own defense. Except in specific exceptions, both he and his opponent will always hit. In RP contexts, misses can happen in very rare circumstances. This is Machamp's No Guard ability.
Personality
Blue's Machamp is a little shy about physical contact, and not shy about letting people know it if they attempt. Outside of battle, he tends to keep to himself. Inside of battle, he only fights the way he does due to Blue's training. He's not out of control by any means, but it would not be out of question for him to punch someone in the face if they tried to get too close.
- Rhyperior -
Height:
Weight:
Gender: Male
Attacks
Earthquake, Megahorn, Stone Edge, Thunder Fang
Skills
Rhyperior is very tough, and this toughness seems to increase in situations where it would be weak. Attacks that are strong against it do less damage than they should, but still more than normal damage. This is Rhyperior's Solid Rock ability.
Personality
Blue's Rhyperior is a gentle giant outside of battle. He knows he's big and doesn't like hurting people by mistake. He has kind eyes and while dangerous in battle he would never push them past a basic knockout. Without Blue's guidance, he would likely fall short in fights out of worry of hurting the other party.
- Arcanine -
Height:
Weight:
Gender: Male
Attacks
Flare Blitz, Thunder Fang, ExtremeSpeed, Crunch
Skills
When Arcanine is hit by fire, it doesn't do any damage to him. Instead he is able to channel the energy to boost his own fire based attacks. This applies to almost any fire attack, not just ones from Pokemon. This is Arcanine's Flash Fire ability.
Personality
Blue's Arcanine is very proud. He is in fact cocky and a somewhat magnified version of Blue. He doesn't seem to get along with anyone but Blue, and even there it seems a silent mutual respect than anything else. He shares Blue's pride and comes across as more than a bit snooty to other people. There's a distinct lack of respect for others.
- Tyranitar -
Height:
Weight:
Gender: Male
Attacks
Low Kick, Fire Fang, Rock Slide, Earthquake
Skills
Whenever Tyranitar first appears in an area, he seems to effect the environment in a way that kicks up sand. The sand is harsh enough to hurt others, but its rather localized and won't effect his trainer or the opponent trainer unless they're not careful. This is Tyranitar's Sand Stream ability.
Personality
Blue's Tyranitar is a bit violent. It is possible he'd be a problem if Blue didn't have such a heavy hand. He glares at just about everyone and not the sort you want to antagonize. In battle he's likely to knock down the opponent and then hit them once more just to make sure they stay down.
- Pidgeot -
Height:
Weight:
Gender: Male
Attacks
Double Team, Return, Air Slash, Steel Wing
Skills
Pidgeot thrashes a bit more when he is confused in battle. This means he is less predictable and harder to hit. As a result, his evasion increases when he is confused. This is Pidgeot's Tangled Feet ability.
Personality
Blue's Pidgeot is both proud and noble. Easily the most polite of Blue's Pokemon, he is more than willing to take others under his wing. He is fierce about protecting those he cares about and despises those that don't try their hardest. Of all Blue's Pokemon, he is the most likely to ignore orders out of attempt to protect Blue. Quite possibly Blue's most loyal Pokemon, as well.
Other
Blue syncs with FF's Red and comes from the same fan interpretation universe of the games. This regards the remakes of first and second generation as simple remakes and not things in the future of the world the way my character's Prue and Aby do or the way the Pokemon Special/Pokemon Adventures manga handles it.
Some of Blue's history is based upon manga sources as a lot of it is never explained in game. One of the manga in question was never released in America.
Originally PaC's character, applied for with his permission over notes.
