Full Name: Eiji Yamada
Nicknames: n/a
Age: 26
Height: Average
Weight: A bit underweight
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Neutral Good
Home: Formerly S-Prefecture, Japan, now Void City
Franchise: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OC
Physical Description: Yamada has a very generally unkempt appearance about him. His stringy brown hair often seems matted and uncombed despite his best attempts to keep it neat. He typically wears a standard police uniform.
Weapons: A standard issue police handgun.
Abilities/Powers: Yamada is a normal human, so he has no powers.
Skills: Yamada has no real skills to speak of.
Personality: It’s been noted that Yamada is rather similar personality-wise to a certain Persona-using cop, though without the creepy rapist true personality. Yamada is known for talking a little bit too much, often going on about topics that were best left unsaid. He’s a bit of a coward, and he gets freaked out easily.
History: Yamada grew up in a family of policemen, so throughout his life, he was expected to go into the police himself. Really, he didn’t want to do so, but he ended up getting pressured into it anyways. However, it was around the time that he went into the Okinomiya police that the incidents regarding the strange murders and disappearances in Hinamizawa began to occur. In the fifth year of the incidents, Ooishi, a detective with the Okinomiya police force, began communicating with an out-of-towner who had just moved to Hinamizawa known as Keiichi Maebara.
At one point, Ooishi had Yamada look up some information about Maebara and some of his friends in some official records. Some of the things Yamada found about Maebara were… surprising, to say the least. Though it was kept from the public, Maebara had actually been the perpetrator of a series of attacks on small children in his old town, shooting them with his model gun as they walked to school. At one point they had to travel in groups to avoid attacks. He’d eventually been caught, but Maebara’s rich father had negotiated things so that it wouldn’t be found out by the public and had moved to Hinamizawa under the pretense that it “helped his art.”
All of this eventually became important after Maebara led two of his female friends (both with questionable backgrounds of their own) to his home and beat them to death with a baseball bat before running to a phone booth, calling Ooishi, and eventually clawing his own throat out. Not too long after these murders, the miko of the local shrine was murdered, and the entire town killed by an explosion of volcanic gas. Even Yamada could see that the timing of all of this was suspicious, especially once Ooishi began hiding his notes on what exactly happened during his discussions with Maebara. Yamada didn’t have long to ponder all of this, though, as when a woman searching for a perfect world moved through the dimensions, a dimensional rip opened up and pulled Yamada through. He ended up arriving on the Dimensional Island, where he eventually joined into the police force again (which, coincidentally enough, was almost entirely made up of people from different worlds affected by Oyashiro-sama’s Curse).
