He took his cigar in for another drag then threw it away in the alley.
"You seem decent enough, and according to your character bio..." Somewhere in the distance, a crashing sound was heard. That being the fourth wall. "You know the Eds, one of the driving forces behind this island. Unless I'm wrong and the Peach Creek I'm thinking of is different from the Peach Creek you're from. I could use you as a hostage if I'm right about that matter".

'If I refuse the offer... he'll kill me and just hire someone else to kill the Eds anyway... but if I join... I might be able to find more about this thing he's in and what he's doing. I might be able to stop this fucker...' Charlie thought to himself. "Hmm... seems interesting. I'll join, and you can tell me more about this little thing later," Charlie said with a grin. 'I really hope I can keep the Eds safe, or whoever else is on his kill list...' Charlie thought to himself.

Instead of cutting a mark into Charlie, Edward just hocked a loogie onto his hand. The small blade fell off of Edward's finger. "I bet you thought I was gonna cut some kind of weird insignia into you, didn't you?." he asked.

"Cap'n? CAP'N AH SO GLAD AH FOUND YA!" shouted a voice from the other end of the alley. "Boggs, wait Boggs, no-!" said Edward before he was cut off by a hug from a big man about half a foot taller than him. Thomas Boggs, the first mate of the Ironside Pirates.
"Ah wond up in dis werd place outta nowhea!" said Boggs in his odd accent. Edward sighed, then shot a spike out from his chest, impaling his first mate. However, this didn't faze him in the slightest given his power. "Who dis guy?" asked Boggs. "Ah knock 'is block off!" he shouted as his hand started to glow and he threw a punch at Charlie. Acero immediately caught it, though. "He's an ally. Don't worry."

He closed his eyes for a few seconds, opened them, but rest assured, they were still there, staring at him. Charlie just sighed. "So uh... am I insane?"
