Full Name (Human): Naoki Kashima
Title: Hito-Shura (Aka Demi-Fiend)
Nicknames: None that he currently identifies by.
Age: Immortal
Height: n/a
Weight: n/a
Gender: Male
Race: Fiend
Alliance: Chaos
Home: Amala Labyrinth
Franchise: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Physical Description: Hito-Shura was once human, and because of this, his demon form greatly resembles his original human form, with only a few noticeable physical differences. In his demon form, Hito-Shura appears to be a young man of Japanese descent. He has extremely short hair, though he still manages to manage a bit of a cowlick despite that. Sprouting from the back of his neck is an about three inch long horn. He has bluish-grey eyes most of the time, but at times (usually when Hito-Shura is fighting), his eyes will turn yellow, or even red. For clothing, he only wears a pair of shorts and black shoes.
Probably the most noticeable aspect of Hito-Shura’s appearance is the glowing markings covering his whole body. These markings are how Hito-Shura lets out energy when he attacks, and are the way energy is channeled through his body. The energy emitted then is strong enough to shred clothing, and the only reason his pants and shoes aren’t shredded is because the energy output is nowhere near as strong there (mainly due to the fact that there’s a lower concentration of markings there). The markings are mostly black, but have glowing outlines. The glowing parts are usually a light blue, but when Hito-Shura is injured, they change to a bright red color.
Hito-Shura is also capable of taking a human form, which resembles the form he had in his human life. In this form, he lacks the markings, oddly colored eyes, and horn. His outfit is mostly the same, but he wears a grey hooded jacket as well. The jacket has a green hood and going down the side of the sleeves are 8-bit stylized demons.
Weapons: Hito-Shura doesn’t use any weapons, instead preferring to use his bare hands. (Which can make energy blades.)
Abilities/Powers: Hito-Shura’s powers are typical of demons from his world, but he is much more flexible with his attack options than most demons due to one thing: Magatama. When Hito-Shura became a demon, he had a demonic parasite called a Magatama forced on him that granted him strong demonic powers. By changing Magatamas, the Hito-Shura is capable of learning skills that he couldn’t learn on his own. There are a few skills Hito-Shura gained from the Magatamas that are unique to him alone, such as Gaea Rage. His favored Magatama is the strongest Magatama in existence, and is called Masakados. This Magatama prevents damage from all damage except powerful divine attacks (classified as “Almighty” damage).
On the mundane side, Hito-Shura is, like all demons, effectively immortal. He will not die from old age like a human would, and indeed, does not age at all. He is also capable of summoning his own demon allies.
Skills: Hito-Shura has no real skills to speak of, as before his transformation into a demon, he really was average in every way.
Personality: Despite the fact that he has become a demon and thrown away his humanity, some personality traits from Hito-Shura’s human life still remain. Hito-Shura is usually polite, and it is very hard to get him to lose his temper. Indeed, he seems almost emotionless at times, and even speaks with a bit of a monotone. He tends not to speak unless he thinks he really needs to interject into something, or he needs to make a point.
History: Hito-Shura’s story starts in a Tokyo that no longer exists. There, his name was Naoki Kashima, and he was a normal high school student in every way. He had two friends, a girl named Chiaki Tachibana and a boy named Isamu Nitta. The three of them were very fond of their teacher, Yuko Takao, especially Isamu, who practically had a crush on Yuko. Neither Chiaki nor Isamu really cared much for their friend Naoki, but at the same time, Chiaki spent much of her time bullying Naoki and Isamu, especially Isamu. Really, the only reason Naoki didn’t tell Chiaki to leave him alone was because he was just too polite to do so.
However, one day, Yuko fell ill. The class was told that the illness was nothing serious, but Naoki and Isamu both worried. Eventually, Yuko called the three friends to the hospital to see her one Sunday. Naoki had been supposed to meet up with Chiaki and Isamu at Yoyogi Park, found that not only had Chiaki and Isamu left him behind, but some reporter was there investigating the Cult of Gaea, who had recently had a very bloody riot in that park. The reporter, Jyoji Hijiri, gave Naoki a copy of his magazine and Naoki headed on to the hospital. He found the hospital completely abandoned, except for Chiaki and Isamu. Chiaki stayed in the lobby to read the magazine Naoki had been given while Naoki joined Isamu in searching for Yuko. After a close encounter with a man and the demon he had summoned, Naoki was found by Yuko and was told to come up to the roof. On his way there, Naoki ran into an old woman in mourning garb and a small blond-haired boy, who disappeared soon after. Naoki continued on to the hospital’s roof and found Yuko there. She talked about the Conception and the end of the world, how everyone outside that hospital would die and so on. Naoki and Yuko watched from the top of the hospital as the Conception began to occur, the people of the world all died, and the world curled up around itself, making a sort of inverse world where the people lived on the inside of the world’s crust, called the Vortex World. Even on the hospital’s roof, Naoki wasn’t completely safe, and was knocked unconscious by the negative energies reshaping the world. While unconscious, he heard a mysterious voice, which informed him that there was nothing in his heart, and that it wouldn’t do for someone who was to reshape the world to be like that.
When he awoke again, Naoki was face to face with the same old woman and young boy from before. The old woman informed Naoki that her master had taken pity on him and wished to give him a gift. Before Naoki could object, he found himself on the ground, unable to move as the young boy dropped something insect-like on his face and informed him that it would make him a demon. The insect crawled into Naoki’s body through his eye and fused with him, sending a large concentration of demonic energy into Naoki’s body. Naoki’s body was changed into that of a demon’s, and he passed out from the pain. When he woke up, he was in the hospital morgue, with his body covered with glowing markings, a horn protruding from the back of his neck, and the torn remnants of his old jacket around him. He had become a Demi-Fiend, a demon with a demon body and a human heart.
From there, Naoki (now known as Hito-Shura) travelled around the Vortex World, learning that his two friends, as well as Yuko, Hikawa (the man who had summoned a demon on him before), and Hijiri had all survived the Conception. He also learned of the Assemblies of Nihilo and Mantra, of Reasons, the philosophies that would reshape the Vortex World when the rebirth came, and of the truths of the world. During one trip through the Amala Network, Hito-Shura was sent to the Amala Labyrinth, where he was given a task by an extremely familiar looking young woman and blond-haired old man to retrieve several Candelabra that had been stolen from them, and given a Candelabra of his own to attract the Fiends that had stolen them. As Hito-Shura’s former friends began to go insane from the power they realized they had over this world, Hito-Shura continued to learn more about this world from the woman in the Amala Labyrinth. In the end, Hito-Shura decided to reject his friends’ Reasons and follow the guidance of the young woman and the old man in the Amala Labyrinth. Eventually, YHVH sent Metatron to warn Hito-Shura to stop meeting with the old man, but Hito-Shura continued to do so. He traveled further down through the Kalpas in the Amala Labyrinth, eventually gaining the final Candelabra from Dante and defeating Beelzebub and Metatron both. Once Hito-Shura reached the bottom of the Fifth Kalpa, he finally directly met with the woman and her master. There, he throws away his humanity and allies with the “dark angel” in the fight against the “absolute one.” By throwing away his humanity and getting a surge of power from the woman’s master, he becomes the strongest demon of all, and then awakens again in the hospital morgue, having become a True Demon.
Eventually, Kagutsuchi, the light of the Vortex World and the being responsible for the creation of the new world, beckons the holders of the Reasons (Chiaki, Isamu, and Hikawa, two of which who had become pseudo-fiends by this point) and Hito-Shura to the Tower of Kagutsuchi to battle it. Eventually, Hito-Shura killed his former friends and their demonic sponsors, and made it to the top of the tower, where he killed Kagutsuchi too. Creation and time came to a halt and the whole world went dark. In this dark space, Lucifer reveals himself as being both the little boy and the old man that Hito-Shura had met along the way. He thrusts Hito-Shura into a battle that the Hito-Shura eventually emerges victorious from. Pleased, Lucifer made Hito-Shura into his strongest general in the fight against YHVH.
Time passed inside the Amala Labyrinth, where Hito-Shura now made his home. He was awakened by Lucifer, who informed him of a couple things occurring in another world. A Demon King who refuses to defend his power and shows nothing but fear towards the one King above him, and a set of humans who signed themselves over to him but have yet to prove their worth. Lucifer gave him no orders regarding them, but Hito-Shura required no orders, and so he traversed from the Amala Labyrinth to the Dimensional Island, where he decided he needed to make a point to a few humans and once-humans…
Other: Alright, I’m well aware Hito-Shura is pretty damn overpowered. Hell, one of the descriptions of his powers is that he’s pretty much nigh invulnerable. However, he still will be following site rules. He won’t kill without permission, and anyone I RP with using him can veto anything they find out of line. He is beatable, as evidenced by the Digital Devil Saga games, where he shows up as a Bonus Boss.
Mind you, I doubt he’ll actually be used for anything outside of the plot with Mugen I’ve got going, due to my general disdain for overpowered characters such as him.
