Full Name: Grasscall of the Autumn Leaves tribe (She's lying about her real first name)
Nicknames: Artemis
Age: 13? (Actually 14)
Height: 4'
Weight: 36 pounds
Gender: Female? (Actually male)
Race: Bayleef
Alliance: Chaotic Neutral to Chaotic Good
Home: Johto region (forests way past New Bark Town)
Franchise: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Physical Description: Artemis is a touch large for a Bayleef, but it's barely noticeable unless you get real close. Her coloring makes her stand out as it changes with the seasons; she is greenish gray with bright green leaves in spring; yellow with vibrantly green leaves in summer; a slightly dull orange-red with reddish brown leaves in fall; and a drab and dull brown with wilted dark brown leaves in the winter. Curiously enough, these are actually the colors of a male Bayleef of her tribe. She wears a white semitransparent white veil over her mouth and nose, and a white Weather Band that protects her from damaging weather around her neck.
Weapons: Her leaves and body.
Abilities/Powers: Her attacks;
*Leaf Storm- Releasing a flurry of sharp-edged leaves to attack, the attack's recoil cuts her special attacking abilities in half. (she naturally knows this attack)
*Reflect- A wall of light halves physical damage to her for a short time. (She can't have more than one of Reflect, Light Screen or Safeguard up at a time)
*Light Screen- A wall of light halves special damage to her for a short time. (She can't have more than one of Reflect, Light Screen or Safeguard up at a time)
*Safeguard- A veil protects her from negative status for a short time. (She can't have more than one of Reflect, Light Screen or Safeguard up at a time)
*Headbutt- Ramming into the opponent with her head.
*Toxic- Releasing a poisonous cloud at the opponent, the poison damage worsens over time.
*Aromatherapy- A soothing aroma eliminates bad status for her allies.
*Synthesis- Restoring her hit points, it works best in daylight hours.
When Artemis is in a pinch, her attacks start swinging out extra hard, provided they are of the Grass-type (Leaf Storm in her case). This is usually accompanied by her leaves glowing a bit, and her eyes glowing green. This is how her "Overgrow" ability manifests itself.
Also, she seems to strengthen and weaken with the seasons and climate. She is at her strongest in summer, and at her weakest in winter; likewise, she is stronger in warmer climates than in colder ones.
Skills: As she took over the position of the tribe's future chieftain, Artemis has learned some leadership skills such as rallying and commanding. However, she lacks authority, and as such usually ends up in a more supporting role.
Speaking of supporting roles, Artemis prefers to set up her allies rather than attack herself. She does know some damaging moves, but will generally only use those moves in self-defense.
In spite of all that's happened to her, Artemis has retained her optimism and good outlook on life. We're not sure how, but she claims it to be "looking to the future and not dwelling on the past".
Personality: Artemis is rather optimistic and hopeful, and is often called a "wide-eyed idealist". She prefers to look towards the future instead of dwelling on the past, a trait that has kept her sane in spite of what she has been through.
Oh, did I say sane? I lied. Artemis is actually crazy, seeing what she's seen will do that to you. She's a "Yangire", though thankfully for us, this is usually covered up by her sweet side.
However, if you get in her way of finding her brother, you will trigger her insane side. While she will normally only attack if needed, if she goes nuts, she will not hesitate to slash and hack at you with constant Leaf Storms, and if you really manage to get her insane side out, she'll probably poison you and enjoy how you squirm.
History: Artemis was born as Leafslash to the Autumn Leaves tribe, a fairly large group of Pokemon generally seen as "Grass-type starters". He had a Venusaur father, Petalblade, and a Meganium mother, Aromamist. She was actually the first of two children, having a younger brother by one year, Grasscall. Leafslash was to become the next chieftain following Petalblade, but she wasn't satisfied with that.
Leafslash was a rather rebellious child, more interested in "radical" ideas. He spent most of his lessons daydreaming about the world outside the forest his tribe lived in, and his free time was spent playing with the other kids and his sister instead of studying like he was supposed to. Petalblade called him out on this, practically pleading at the end, saying he needed a male heir to carry on the tribe after he died.
Grasscall met up with Leafslash after the talk he had with his father. Because they were only a year apart, the two siblings looked very much alike. They swapped identities, Grascall becoming Leafslashl and Leafslash becoming Grasscall. This new Leafslash then ran away from home, while the new Grasscall took the old Leafslash's place. "Leafslash" was only five, and "Grasscall" was only six.
Grasscall was then mistaken for Leafslash, and Petalblade, believing he had lost his son, opted to raise his daughter instead, but with deep sadness. She had tricked her father, and took over his future position in the tribe. She managed to balance her time between social interactions and her studies, and looked prepared to take over when it was her time.
However, it lasted only until she was eight. When she was eight, lightning struck an old tree in their forest, and set off a chain reaction that set the forest on fire. The tribe panicked, parents trying to save their children, elderly trying to maintain some semblance of order. Grasscall was then grabbed by her father and mother, who ran to the edge, and when a burning branch fell in their way, Aromamist threw Grasscall over it, and told her to run, and not to look back. Petalblade gave her his last words of wisdom- "Do not dwell on the past, but look towards the future". The last memory Grasscall has of her parents is of another burning branch falling on them, and how they were still smiling. The destruction of the forest killed off every member of the Autumn Leaves tribe.... except for her and Leafslash. She knew her brother had to be out there somewhere, and set her mind to finding him. To avoid the bad memories of her tribe's destruction, she changed her name to Artemis.
Artemis traveled the land for years, developing an insane side and an undying fire. She was attacked by a Skarmory several times, but it quickly stopped after hearing her voice- the metal bird had mistaken her for someone else. Feeling as though she knew something about her brother, Artemis, only twelve, started to follow her around. This went on for a good year or so.
At the age of thirteen, Artemis found herself in a barren desert region. She came upon the ruins of a ship, and passed out in front of it, believing that she would die. A large Arcanine tried to eat her, but a large Nidoqueen told him off and decided to take her to their boss.
Artemis woke up in some sort of office, and to a metal bird. It turned out to be the same one she had been following, and started to ask her questions. The Skarmory, whom she found out was named Peg, denied any connection to anybody that looked like her, but offered her a spot on the team. Artemis, believing her to be lying, took the blood oath, slicing open one of her feet and letting a few drops of blood land in a jar, with those of the other members. Artemis was now officially a member of Team Destroyers. She grew close to Drill, the Nidoqueen that had her spared, developing a sort of mother-daughter bond.
It was one day, one year after she had joined, when she was returning back to the ship from a mission with the rest of Team Destroyers, when the sands shifted, emptying into a portal. Artemis struggled against the pull, but was then pulled into it, and spit out on the Dimensional Island.
Other: I'm aware she's got some mind screwy-ness to her, but it'll be explained later.
The Island's auto-translate feature does work on her, unlike the rest of Team Destroyers.
