Nutcase didn't seem phased. If anything the whole show of force pissed him off more. Goliath had decided to do his trainer a favor and galloped off with Nutcase in his vines. Said loon was ranting angrilly as Goliath and the others in their group fled.

Lilia panicked at the sight of Tree. "SHE'S GONNA BLOW!!!!!"
"Run for it!!!!" Came Gene as he and the others ran off.
"Run WHERE?!?!? If she goes off NOW, the resulting Earthquakes will be enough to tear this Island into teeny tiny little PIECES!!!!" Metal yelled over the panic, likely catching Nutcase's attention. "We'll be lucky to get out of the tunnels, in time to avoid the explosion; but after that we won't be able to survive a fall into the ocean of void beneath the Island!!!!"
"We have to try!!!" Talim yelled as she dragged Kosumu behind her, the poor boy looked like he was literally trembling at all of the Doom Energy going around.
Just when it looked like Tree might explode.
"OH... NO YOU GOD-DAMN DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Tree was likely surprised when she felt a small, but still somewhat medium amount of doom energy leave her being...
Gantz meanwhile, had to bite back a scream of pain. Moving quickly he redirected the flow of Doom Energy through his body and directed it in the direction opposite of Tree and the others. "Bli-BLIZZARD!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Even Gantz himself was shocked at the amount of power he saw next.
The Blizzard spell that shot out looked like a chunk of ice that was literally OOZING with Doom Energy. The ice was rapidly morphing into various shapes, from a chunk of ice into a snow flake like buzz saw. When at last it hit the ground...
Gantz had to take several fast backsteps, casting a few Firaga spells at the floor... Because the doom Energy was making the blizzard energy cover a HELL of a lot more area then what even a Blizzaga spell could cover. It took all of his most powerful Firaga spells to keep the Doom Blizzard back.
When at last it stopped, Gantz hit the floor, panting in pain at the Doom Energy experience, and exhaustion from constant use of Firaga spells...
The hallway in front of him?
It looked like the tunnel up to five miles ahead was completely frozen solid. Heck, if Gantz hadn't used those Firaga spells, he and the others likely would've been next...
Gantz reached into his pack, and pulled out an elixer, downing it quickly. He sighed with relief when he felt his burnt crispy insides heal up. "T-Tree?" Regardless of that though, he was still hurt pretty badly, it'd take another High potion to be fully healed. "I'll just be the first to say... I don't know how you do it... The... Doom energy I mean..."

No one had to tell Beatrice twice, and she'd dragged Taffy along with her as she ran. Ark and Snowy both made a run for it as well. Infi-FF was the last to follow, deciding her life was worth more than that.
By the time Gantz used the Drain spell on Tree, the amount of Doom Energy she was giving off was causing her to double over in pain. The relief was welcome, even if she didn't understand where it was coming from until she could stand again.
Ark stopped when he felt the flow of Doom Energy suddenly substantially drop. He was probably the only one who noticed, though.
Tree looked toward Gantz. She was still mad, but when Gantz fell over from both the Doom Energy and the exhaustion caused by the multiple Firagas, even Tree looked a little concerned. She looked much less concerned once he downed an Elixir, though.
"And this is why you'd never make it as an alchemist," Tree teased. "To be honest, I have no clue most of the time, either. Maybe I'm just lucky. On that note..." She smacked Gantz over the head with Todd. "Just how stupid are you?! Trying to directly absorb Doom Energy like that?! Jesus, you could have died! Normal people can't manipulate the stuff, even most alchemists can't manipulate it directly. You would have ended up dead if you hadn't frozen the next five miles of island down there!" She pointed down the hallway Gantz had frozen.
She looked regretful. "...By the way. What you said before about me ending up alone is true. No one likes me. Never have. Bea-Bea and Lover Boy were the only ones who came remotely close." She switched to glaring at Gantz. "But don't think this means you're off the hook! Loser!"
And then she kicked Gantz into another wall. In any case, it certainly seemed the fight was over... for now, anyways.

The others realized they were still alive.
"Are we dead?" Slimer asked. "You're a ghost, Slimer." Nutcase replied, pointing out the obvious.
"Oh yeah, hehehehe..." Slimer said, embarressed that he forgot he wasn't alive in the first place.

Gantz was momentarily thrown for a loop when Tod slammed him upside the head, though he still managed to hear Tree ranting at him. For crying out loud, it wasn't like he didn't KNOW Doom Energy was bad for him, he had known the entire time, there was no need for her to shout...
That was when Tree suddenly looked regretful. As she continued, the boy's face softened lightly. "Tree..."
Of course this was followed by the girl kicking him clean into a wall. Groaning painfully, he pushed himself up using a Cura spell on himself. "Yeah... Your welcome, for preventing you from blowing up the island, your gratitude is touching... Ow..."
---------------------------------
Kosumu was the first to notice the sudden sharp decrease in power. "Talim! Wait!" He put on the breaks, making the girl stop. The others noticed it too. "It safe! Doom Energy gone!"
Talim looked confused a moment, before she sensed the air. "Wait guys, Kosumu's right! The Doom Energy's decreased greatly. I think we're safe!"
A sigh of relief came from Gantz's twin, before he grinned. "He did it."
-----------------------------
Tarosuke, whom had, likely, very stupidly stayed behind, looked in awe at what had just happened. "What just happened?"
Gantz groaned painfully, but the healing spell was working like a charm. "I'll explain later Taro-oof!!!"
"Gantz!! Ferris wheel!! It's so good to see you again!!!!" Climber was holding the boy tightly, fearing what would happen if he let go.
Gantz was still healing up after that Doom Energy excursion, but hey, he smiled a little. "It's good to see you too buddy."

Nutcase walked up calmly, polishing his glasses before saying, "Ok, now that THAT'S settled....." Putting his glasses back on he looked to Tree, saying, "Can we have a civilized discussion now?"

Ark was still looking down the tunnel as the others realized the Doom Energy was gone. In a voice more mature sounding than his usual one, he said, [glow=white,2,300]"For now, anyways. That was far too close."[/glow]
He suddenly realized the others had left him behind and blinked. "Heeeeeey! Don't leave meeeeeeeeee!"
---------------------
"Oh, stop complaining. That kick means I won," Tree said. "And keep Soul Calibur. I hate swords."
Said the chick who used Todd a lot like one.
Beatrice walked up to Gantz and playfully punched him in the head. Lightly enough that it didn't leave a bruise, amazingly enough. She grinned. "Good to have ya back, ya dumbass. You have no idea what we've been through to find ya."
Taffy groaned. "Yeaaah... peacocks and that annoying mage kid and... Ugh. And lots of being kicked by those two... down stairs... and into walls..." No Name, his broom, gave a sympathetic look that Taffy didn't notice.
Infi-FF walked up to Gantz. "I don't believe we've met. I'm Firebreath Fishslap of the Infinity. Just call me Infi-FF. Everyone does."

Gantz grinned a little bit at Beatrice and Taffy. Honestly; no matter how nuts these two were, he had to say... He really did miss them quite a bit.
"Bro!" Gene wrapped an arm around his twin, grinning widely. "It's about time we found ya! Where've you been? The journal entry you sent me really had me worried."
Gantz shrugged. "My apologies Gene, but I did have your best interests at heart." He noticed Starman's P.E.T., before Gene gave it to him. "S-Star Man."
"You modified my memory."
The boy winced. "It... It was necessary. I had to make sure Him would have no ways to access the info that I had given you in the journal. While I have no doubts that you would not have told Him anyways, I had to be sure..." Star Man turned his head away. "I know... I'm sorry. If it takes time to forgive my wrongdoings I understand." Star Man never turned back to him.
The boy merely sighed and placed the P.E.T. onto his belt. "Lilia."
"Gantz." The girl responded. "You do have a lot to answer for I hope you realize."
The boy chuckled awkwardly. "Yeah... I know." He cleared his throat. Before turning to the others. "Guys... I know just saying it, or even saying it a thousand times will probably never make up for my inexcusable behavior but... I'm sorry... I just wanted to keep you safe... That plans pretty much failed spectacularly given the circumstances, so I know it won't be easy to get your trust back..."

Infi-FF suddenly got a rather angry look on her face as Starman mentioned that Gantz was the one to modify his memory. She didn't directly accuse him of anything, but looked away and mumbled, "...You modified his memory..."
"Won't be easy...? Dude, you pulled a lot of stupid shit. You'll be lucky if we ever trust you with our lives again," Beatrice said. She was certainly quite to the point. Taffy gave an assenting nod. Tree's expression didn't visibly change.
Ark pressed a couple fingers together as he approached Gantz. "U-um... I trust you. You've done some bad things, but you seem like a nice guy, and..."
Snowy smirked. "Figures the kid who blew up an entire dimension would be the one who'd trust you." Ark flushed red at the mention of that.

"Ok enough is enough." Nutcase said. "I already have a fitting punishment. Slimer, sic him."
The green class five vapor delivered a head on body slam, completely covering Gantz in ectoplasm.

Gantz took the sliming graciously, more then seeing it coming. When the slime covered his form, he did little aside from wiping a little excess slime off his shirt. "Well, I deserved that..."
"No what you deserve is so much more." A factor Lilia made clear by changing her hand into a white baseball mit lined with white claws the size of broadswords. "The only reason why no-one ELSE is giving you a piece of their minds is because we know your still on our side... And Tree's pretty much covered it." Gantz shrugged.
"Hey if that fight was allowed to go into overtime, I would've been able to take her with a few summon spells, the area was nice and open enough I could have." A few of the others rolled their eyes.
Metal walked up, looking at Gantz curiously. "Well, NOW that we've found you, their's still one more question that needs to be asked... WHAT ARE YOU DOING DOWN HERE?"
A question that was likely on everyone's minds. "He raises a good question bro. Why ARE you down here?" He looked around suspiciously. "Can Him be found down here?" Gantz shook his head casually, making the twin sigh with relief.

Tree rolled her eyes as Gantz said he could have used a summon. Sure, he could have used a summon, but then she'd have just responded with a little nasty concoction of her own. Orange Juice-Toothpaste Juice. Expired OJ-Toothpaste Juice. Nastiest thing on Earth?, and worked as a great makeshift grenade. Infi-FF still looked offended as Gene asked Gantz his question, but she walked over to the mural Gantz had been examining earlier. She examined it for a moment before looking at the others. "It was this. This was why you came here, isn't it? This mural," Infi-FF said. She examined it for a moment before getting a rather smug expression on her face and walked back over to the main group, humming some song. Some of the people in the group might recognize it. It sounded like it could be a boss theme from some game. At the very least, Leorina's theme was easy to pick out in whatever she was humming. Tree raised an eyebrow before looking up at the mural. "What, so this painting thing is what you came here to look at? What is it of, anyways?" She could swear that she recognized the song Infi-FF was humming from somewhere. Beatrice may have been the main video game player of the Power Trio, but Tree still played some in her spare time. She just couldn't recall where she heard it. "It is kinda pretty..." Ark said. But at the same time, it worried him.

Nutcase studied the image of the monster depicted, then looked through Tobin's Spirit Guide. "I don't see anything looking remotely like that here...."
Slimer chewed nonexistant fingernails, knowing such a statement only ment one thing; trouble.
"Too bad Egon isn't here. Then again I doubt he'd know about this either." Clown Man said as he caught sight of the monster.

"If you guys are curious about the mural here you shoulda just asked." Gantz walked up, pointing to a few paragraphs of runes that could be found to the side of the mural. "These runes are a lot more foreign then I'm used to, but I was able to read them for the most part. In fact, I was in the middle of translating them before Tree cut in."
Lilia looked at the runes closely. "You can actually READ this Chicken Scratch?"
"Roland could probably do it better and faster then I could, but I know how to do it for the most part." Gantz made sure to emphasize Roland's name out of respect. "Anyways, if anyone's interested I'll read it out loud."
Climber looked up to the mural, looking massively curious. "I'm interested. What does it say?"
Metal tilted his head. "Go ahead Gantz. If this thing's caught YOUR attention, I'd like to know more."
The boy sighed a little. "Okay... But prepare yourselves... This might come as a surprise. But then again, maybe not. I'll just leave that to you guys." He reads the runes a moment. "Okay, basically these runes tell the story of a village in the ancient days of Dimensional Island..."
-------------------------------------------------
The scene changes to show what appears to be a village akin to that of the indians; people went about their business casually.
"However, here... The story kicks off when one of the villagers, a young boy, returned home with a... 'tenebrae relian'. Basically that means someone who doesn't live in the village. An outsider, in otherwords."
Said scene appears to happen, with a young boy around 12 or so walking up to the village, followed by an older man of around 40.
"Little did anyone suspect that this outsider was sick... But it wasn't just any sickness... He was inflicted with a terrible virus known only as the 'Nightmare Virus', so named because of what happened should you catch it..."
The man appeared to be okay, at first...
At least until he started foaming at the mouth, his eyes turning feral, he roared and lunged at the screen.
--------------------------------------
"To make a long story short, the Virus is a particularly nasty sort. It searches it's host's mind for it's worst possible memories, and forces the host to act on it... Usually that meant that the host would randomly attack anything close by."
Everyone looked up at the mural, the meaning for the shadowy creature suddenly becoming clear.
"The story goes on that the sickness the outsider carried spread out through the village before increasing violence sent the entire town into a beastly civil war..." Gantz looked quite concerned as he finished with. "I don't doubt that, even if there were survivors of that civil war that they would live long after that. The virus is more along the lines of a hellbent parasite, vying for it's hosts death so it can feed."

Tree listened silently as Gantz explained. It was only toward the end that she had a visible reaction, in the form of her raising an eyebrow.
"A... parasite? That doesn't make much sense. If it was a parasite, it would want to keep its host alive as long as possible," Tree said. "I mean, yeah, it's a virus, but those effects..."
"Maybe it's something like Hinamizawa Syndrome," Beatrice suggested. "The outsider was carrying the virus, and didn't start going crazy until something stressed him out enough to cause it. Like, the villagers might notta trusted him, he got freaked out... then, bam, virus makes him lose it and start beating his friends to death with a baseball bat and then scratch his own throat out. Y'know, scratch scratch." She gave a couple mock scratches at her own throat.
"That's disgusting, Beatrice," Taffy groaned.
"Yeah, seriously. I mean, really, a virus that makes you kill yourself by scratching your own throat out?" Snowy asked. "Besides, in what universe could that possibly happen?"
----------------------------
In the Void City Municipal Police Station, Kenji Takahashi sneezed.
-----------------------------
Beatrice shrugged. "Just a suggestion. I mean, it could happen!"
Ark kept grinning as he spoke up. "Hey, that's kinda like what happened with Ms. Dora and Boots! When I found them, Ms. Dora was beaten to death, and Boots had scratched his throat out!"
Tree, Snowy, Todd, Beatrice, Taffy, and No-Name all gave Ark a weird look. He flushed red.
Infi-FF raised an eyebrow at that group before looking at Gantz. "In any case, why is this Nightmare Virus relevant? ...Wait, don't tell me. Him's got it, doesn't he?"
