Gantz made no move to respond to this.
Yin however, was apalled. "Brother!!" She looked a little ticked at the fact that Yang had openly insulted their guests. "What right of you to say that these children?!?"
Yang glared at his sister with his intimidating crimson red gaze. "Sister... I know you... You are not so stupid as to not realize who it is we have here before us." He motioned to Gantz, though the boy was sure he was motioning to Soul Calibur. "Your 'Guests' have a LOT OF GALL, bringing this traitorous once been blade before us, in such a matter!" He grimaced down at Soul Calibur (Gantz wincing all the while), looking like he was growing less and less pleased with this visit by the second. "I'm tempted to destroy the spirit AND her host, for this deathly insult. But I'm not needlessly violent, so that is ruled out."
"Brother please..." Yin pleaded, trying to help the deity see sense.
With a cleared throat, Otto tried to enter the conversation, "Um if I may say sir." Yang turned to the boy, "We had no choice in the matter; Soul Calibur needs a new body to inhabit, otherwise this guy right here's body will destablize."
"Easy solution right there, my vassal." Yang sneered, almost looking consolable... Well, at least until he said. "Send her spirit to the void!!!!!!!!!!!!"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At that word, an aura that looked a mixture between crimson red and jet-black shot out the deity of darkness, further emphasizing his outrage. [glow=red,2,300]"THAT would be better then letting this MONSTER live on to continue the rampage she started COUNTLESS EONS AGO... LIVES LOST, CITIES DESTROYED; We can't even CALL HER A MONSTER... WE MIGHT AS WELL CALL IT A-.. A... A THING!!!!!!"[/glow]
Tarosuke and a few of the other members flinched at the rage...
Gantz remained still. But why?
In truth, if anyone there was good at sensing aura's, they'd find Gantz was only looking so calm because he was thinking up his case, hopeless as it seemed.
For Soul however?
One would be able to feel her aura almost ailing. In truth, she saw this coming a long time ago... And she felt embarassed; to the point of being utterly humiliated really. And as that thought went through her, a strange new feeling entered her... Was she feeling...
Hurt?
Nah, that was ridiculous... Must've been hanging around Gantz too long...

Kyle nodded, though he still looked unsure. He was warily listening to what was going on inside the treasury. It didn't sound good.
"Are they going to be okay...?" Kyle asked hesitantly.
-------------
De'Marcus was still giggling as things went on. Oh man, he really liked this Yang guy. Finally someone said what had been on his mind for the longest time. Soul Calibur was a jerk. Hey, even hedgehogs played video games, even if they already star--
"GODDAMMIT STOP MAKING THAT JOKE."
---I really do need to, don't I?
Waddle Dee glared at Yang.
"Even if she's a horrible horrible creature, we need her, sir. If I understand right, Ms. Soul Calibur is the only thing that can defeat Him as he is now...?" Waddle Dee asked. "We require a weapon to hold her essence."
Waddle Dee smacked De'Marcus in the head with the umbrella to get him to shut up. De'Marcus grumbled a bit.

Double D flinched, both at Yang's harsh words and at the darkness he was gathering. He cast a gaze down at Kyle, feeling that... this was the kind of rejection he feared too. Deity or not... this wasn't right!
"S-stop!" he called from the doorway, keeping Kyle behind him and out of view, hoping he wouldn't be noticed. "What right do YOU have to pass such judgment?! She made mistakes, perhaps, but how is this petty urge for revenge going to solve what's happening now?!"

Yang heard Double D’s words, but honestly, it didn’t make much of a difference. [glow=red,2,300]“MISTAKE..? MISTAKE?!?!?!?!?! I’ll tell you what the mistake is ‘Angel of Light’, the ONLY MISTAKE HERE, was THIS THING’S creation!!!!!!”[/glow] He turned to Waddle Dee, grimacing. “Well boo-hoo. Tell it to someone who GIVES HALF A CRAP!!!!” Putting aside that a deity had just cursed, his point had been made vividly. It would be a cold day in Hell before he willingly helped Soul Calibur.
Wally hesitantly stepped up, hoping to say something. “Um… sir?” Yang turned to Wally, and the Light Bender almost immediately regretted standing up. “Why do you feel so strongly about this? I mean, sure Soul’s done some bad things but-”
“Bad.. Things… [glow=red,2,300]BAD THINGS?!?!?!?"[/glow] He glared at Wally then at where Double D hid; he was pretty sure he saw the angel of light shudder. “Allow me to enlighten you about BAD THINGS, my sister’s vassal… Bad things, are what happens when you allow a bank robbery to go on, bad things are what happens, when you mark the wrong answer on a test, bad things are what happens when you suffer from a car accident. Want to know the similarities? These actions can be FORGIVEN, want to know why? Because the crime is either minor, or happens only once or twice.” He then pointed at Soul Calibur. “What IT’S done, is not bad things… She’s done HORRIBLE things. Many eons ago, a war was fought between two sides of a medieval world, one side belonged to a king known only as the ‘Masked King’ while the other was ruled by a man named Barnabas.” He groaned. “In the midst of the war, a young man appeared on the side of the Masked King wielding Soul Edge, at the same time, Barnabas’ troops discovered Soul Calibur. When Soul Calibur sensed that her opposite was on the other side of the warzone, she went mad with rage, and transformed Barnabas into a gigantic monster, him wielding her as the battle went on. In the end, Soul Edge defeated Soul Calibur and Barnabas was returned to his human form. Many, many, years after that Soul Calibur HERSELF became evil.”
Gantz was more then sure he felt a tried and true wince come from Soul’s aura.
“That’s right, the creation remembers that little advent. Well allow me to enlighten the rest of you; [glow=red,2,300]during her time as self-proclaimed Holy Sword gone bad, she caused more damage to the balance of the world, then her damned TWIN did!!!"[/glow] Yin winced, remembering that all too well. [glow=red,2,300]“And that’s not even putting off all of the lives lost, civilizations destroyed and sunk, the many who went completely mad in search of her or her twin;[/glow] Oh, and let’s not forget one other detail;[glow=red,2,300]SHE STILL HASN’T… DONE THE SCATHE-BE-DAMNED JOB, SHE WAS MADE TO DO IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And don't even THINK of asking to give her a second chance. Her chances are ALL USED UP. I'M FED UP WITH HER SCREW UPS, THE UNNECESSARY LIVES SHE CLAIMS, AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN..."[/glow]
All was silent, no-one dared to move.
“So there you have it. I’m not, REPEAT, NOT going to help you so long as that sword is involved.”
Yang turned to Gantz and held out a hand, energy seemed to be forming. “In fact, I ask you, [glow=red,2,300]CHILD,[/glow] to give me [glow=red,2,300]ONE VERY GOOD REASON, WHY… I shouldn’t just spare you the future pain and strife and send the soul your codepending on to the VOID RIGHT NOW!!!!!"[/glow] A dark energy ball formed in his hand to emphasize this.
Not a soul moved; heck there was barely anyone who dared to breath.
“Because Soul is sorry.”
……………………. ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Considering the knowledge known about Soul Calibur, what Gantz said REALLY confused everyone present.

There was one person who dared to move. Waddle Dee twitched at Yang's words. The puffball twitched. The puffball actually looked angry. This was not a good thing. Suddenly, Waddle Dee jumped up, grabbed Yang by the collar, and held his parasol threateningly.
"NOW YOU LISTEN HERE, MR. HIGH AND MIGHTY 'OH LOOK AT ME, I'M THE GOD OF DARKNESS', WELL WHOOP DEE DOO!" Waddle Dee screamed. "WE HAVE COME ASKING YOUR HELP! WE CAME ASKING FOR YOUR AID IN HELPING DEFEAT HIM, AND YOU REJECT IT 'CAUSE 'THE SWORD IS EVIL THE SWORD OF ABSOLUTE LIGHT IS EVIL' WELL NO SHIT SHE'S EVIL SHE'S A SWORD OF ABSOLUTE LIGHT!. I DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT WHAT SOUL CALIBUR HAS DONE IN THE PAST. TO BE HONEST, I'D GO OFF AND FIGHT HIM RIGHT NOW ON MY OWN IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE FACT THAT I KNOW ONLY CERTAIN MYSTICAL OBJECTS CAN DEFEAT OTHER CREATURES OF DARKNESS LIKE THAT, AND A PARASOL AIN'T NO STAR ROD. BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, YANG! YOUR STUPID ATTITUDE IS GETTING ON MY FUCKING NERVES, AND I SWEAR TO THE SUN AND MOON THEMSELVES, IF YOU DON'T PUT THAT ENERGY BALL DOWN RIGHT NOW AND GET US A FUCKING SWORD, I DON'T CARE THAT ALL I'VE GOT IS A PARASOL, I WILL KICK YOUR ASS. NOW SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY, HELP US FIND A MYSTICAL SWORD, OR GET YOUR ASS OUT OF THE WAY, OR YOU'RE THE ONE GETTING SENT TO THE VOID. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!?"
"All that capslock is hurting my head," De'Marcus commented.
"Mr. Waddle Dee's scaring meeee..." Mr. Orange said. The orange was cowering behind De'Marcus now.
Kyle jumped when Waddle Dee started screaming. He looked out into the room from behind Double D. "I-Is that Waddle Dee?!"
When Gantz said that Soul Calibur was sorry, Waddle Dee looked back at Gantz for a moment. The puffball jumped away from Yang, but he still looked pissed, and he was still standing right in front of Yang threateningly. He'd meant every word he'd said. Just because he was a Waddle Dee didn't mean that he wasn't powerful. Quite the opposite.

Double D remained as rigid as he could during Yang's angry outpost; if Gantz could so could he, right?
But the more he went on, the more he faltered his firm gaze. Thousands of lives forfeit... homes destroyed...
...wasn't that the same for him? Wasn't their struggles, their fight against the Wizard, the religious fanatics, Lucifer, the Wizard-hunters... the same exact thing?
He jumped out of his brooding when Waddle Dee started to scream, covering his ears at the shrill, high-pitched voice.
"M...my word..." he breathed once he had finished. "...I didn't know the little one had it in him. He's certainly braver than me."

Yang wasn't scared in the least at Waddle Dee's threat, if anything, his swears only mildly annoyed him. He was just about to point that out when he heard Gantz's reply.
In all honesty, Gantz's response DID confuse a good amount of the members at present that knew Soul. Heck, even SOUL CALIBUR HERSELF, was thrown for a loop. [shadow=navy,left,300]"Wha-?"[/shadow] You could tell not even she was expecting that.
Yang didn't either. In fact, when he heard that, his attention was thrown off of Waddle Dee entirely. When the puffball jumped off, the deity of darkness walked to Gantz, Tarosuke pushing some members of the gang backwards to make room for him. When he was close enough, he leaned down to Gantz's eye level, lifting an eyebrow. "She's... Sorry?" He didn't sound angry... If anything, he sounded curious. "What leads you to say that?"
Gantz stood tall not flinching at the belittling stare. "Look... I've been stuck with Soul here for the last 19 days now; my own soul's strength been keeping the destabilization back the entire time. Any normal soul would break apart under such a long time, not me." He continued even as Yang narrowed his gaze. "In that time, I've come to know the Soul behind Soul Calibur better then anyone. Along with that, I've looked up Soul's history online, learning everything I could, so here's a history lesson for you.
"Countless eons ago, Soul Edge was formed from the metal of a meteor; for a time, Soul Edge was a normal sword, powerful, but normal. It was only when it was engulfed in blood, violence, and war, time and time again that it finally learned evil and became the sword we all know today. The king that had Soul Edge made lost his son to the sword, since he was it's weilder when it turned evil, killing him. In his anger, the king took pieces of the purified Soul Edge and used it to create Soul Calibur, to counter-act it... However, that was it's ONLY purpose. And the king's hatred for Soul Edge, leaked into Soul Calibur, turning her into the vindictive spirit we know her to be now." Gantz took a breath in before continuing. "Do the math, Yang. What would Soul Calibur be if this hatred hadn't transferred into her? I'll tell you, she'd be a much better sword that she is now."
It took a moment for the spirit of darkness to respond. "You're point?"
Taking another breath, he continued. "I've gotten to know Soul Calibur for a long time, and as we went on adventures together, we've only gotten closer as friends. I knew exactly what you knew, at first, and didn't want to trust Soul either... But as time went on, I noticed a change come around in her."
Yin let out a curious squeak at that. "A change? What do you mean?"
"I mean, just what I say." Inside Gantz's body, Soul looked curious herself. "Yeah, Soul Calibur is a creep, a total Bi@#%^ to be accurate, when we started out she was a coarse to me as coarse can be... But as we went along, I noticed her growing... Softer. Sure she treated me like impatiently, but we're practically one here, I could sense it in her. If Soul Calibur hasn't changed in some way during our time together, then I'm a God of Doom Energy."
That final line made it more then clear Gantz had been doing his homework about Tree's little gang of rivals ganged together to stop Flamel's Ragnarok group.
Yang only stood there, his eyebrow raised questionably.
[The response comes on my next turn.]

De'Marcus didn't seem very surprised at Gantz's words. Really, much didn't phase him except the Sonic comments, so really all he was doing was listening. Waddle Dee was still glaring at Yang, but he was paying attention to Gantz. Kyle, having no idea what Soul Calibur was really like anyways, was just confused.
De'Marcus FINALLY spoke up at the "Doom God" comment. "Depends. Did you live in Kansas at any point?"
There was a reason for that question. Flamel's group had only been able to find three canidates: Ratatosk (AKA Hammy), Ark (the current Doom God), and some dude in Kansas who didn't even want in on the war.

Double D nodded to himself in agreement with Gantz's words. Yes, the angel had experienced Soul's anger firsthand; with this new information, it made all the more sense why Soul was enraged by the 'linked to Soul Edge' comment he had made earlier. But he knew the spirit was capable of compassion as well.
He smiled down at Kyle. "Well... perhaps we'll recieve assistance after all."

Yang stood still a moment, seeming to be unable to find the words.
Yin meanwhile, looked saddened. If Soul Calibur was becoming good, then wouldn’t it suit them to help them out. “Brother?” She looked to Yang, as he appeared to stand up straight.
“And you truly believe this?”
That seemed to be the only question Yang could think of. One Gantz answered with a quick and curt, “Yes sir.”
A deep exhale escaped the god of darkness’ being. For a while, all was silent…
…………………………….
…………………………….
……………………………….
“Boy… I’m not going to bother telling you to get rid of that spirit in you. Your mind is made up on that.”
Gantz looked a bit confused at this, before Yang turned back to him… The deity almost looked… Unsure. “Instead, I’m asking you; Please… Get rid of that spirit that’s inside you.” That surprised a few people, but Yang continued, “What should happen if you gain the sword for your own? I ask you to remember Soul Calibur’s past owner; a man named Siegfried.” Gantz knew Siegfried alright, but where was Yang going with this? “Siegfried thought he could control the power that you now bear, but in the end, he was transformed into the Azure Nightmare. After that, he tried to use Soul Calibur to gain revenge against the evil sword… In the end, he was stopped, and he was crystallized; a cursed life, ending in a cursed fashion.”
It took a moment, for Gantz to respond… In the end, he shook his head. “I know about Siegfried, and nothing you say is going to make me do it. I think Soul deserves a second chance. Even if you don’t.”
Yang frowned, but it dropped after a second. “What makes you think, you’ll be any different from Siegfried?”
“Because the sword he used is changing. She herself might not be aware of it yet. But she is.” Was Gantz’s flat answer.
“And nothing I do or say is going to stop you then…”
“I’ll FIGHT you if I have to.”
Gantz was aware of the numb feeling going through his right hand once more, but it passed quickly, as he took his sword Eclipse in hand, ready to swing it at that moment.
All was silent a moment… … …
Finally, a dismal groan came out of the dark deity’s form. “Very well… If that is your decision, then I will not stop you…”

De'Marcus gave Gantz and Yang a flat look as things began to escalate a bit. Wow. He really was surrounded by entertaining idiots. He still supported Yang all the way, but the rule of Obligatory Protagonists meant that Gantz was probably going to win. Especially since Gantz and Yang were being RPed by the same person. How did De'Marcus know this?
Well, 4th Wall Breaking was one of the powers of the chosen one of the island of Wanahokalugi, after all. Not that he was mentioning this fact to anyone.
Kyle was still looking a bit concerned. Finally, he sucked it up. He needed to do something for once. Not stand around like the dead weight he was. He pushed past Double D and headed into the room.
"You don't have to fight! Just stop it, you two!" Kyle yelled. What was he, their mother? He didn't want Gantz to get killed because of this. They guy had saved him, after all. And he'd noticed how Gantz's hand kept twitching like that. He knew about codependance, thanks to what Oni had told him about his options. After they'd made the blood pact, of course. Oni was often like that. And he knew Gantz was codepending on Soul Calibur and vice versa. Gantz's body had to be adapting to Soul Calibur's presence by now...

"..oh!" Double D blinked as Kyle pushed past him, flinching. "W-wait! Ky~!"
He froze when he looked down, noticing Gantz's twitching hand. Codependence...? He, unfortunately, had yet to be informed of such things. "G...Gantz?" he ventured, taking the limp hand into his; god, it was so cold... "What's... happening to you? Destablize? What does that mean?"

Otto and Wally noticed the hand too, as did Misty. "Gantz." Came Misty, eyes narrowed. "I agree with the angel... What DOES it mean?"
Gantz was literally wielding his sword Eclipse with his left hand at this point. It wasn’t his strongest arm, but it would due, all things considered. When he noticed the worried looks, he slowly lowered Eclipse. He really wasn’t worried… Though he really was starting to be when Double D took his hand… And he didn’t feel it. “I…”
“It means his body is starting to transform.”
Tarosuke chose that time to walk up; really he came from a time period not too dissimilar to when Oni was causing trouble, so he knew about stuff like this. “You see, Codependence has it’s ups and downs;” If this were an anime, the screen would’ve darkened around Tarosuke before showing an animation of what appeared to be two wisps, one appeared to be light red, with a cap and sun-glasses, making it look like a chibi version of Gantz’s head, while the second one was a powerful looking light blue wisp with the same symbol as the mark of the oath on Gantz’s arm in the center. “Codependence is basically a form of possession, however, it’s a possession where two souls willingly and cooperatively share a single body.” In the animation, the view widened out, revealing the two wisps in a single outline that looked vaguely similar to a human.
“In codependence, the two souls share control amongst each other, and, because of such close contact, the two souls are capable of sharing traits between each other. Example; Soul Calibur has been wielded by some of the most powerful weapon specialists in recorded history, and because of this, she can transfer her weapon wielding know-how into Gantz’s being.” In the animation, it show’s Gantz’s wisp appearing to flex it’s muscles and swing around a sword with a masterful ease. “This is also likely why Gantz believes Soul is changing; such extended amounts of time together means Soul is starting to take on a piece of Gantz’s personality, meaning his own nobility, naive as it is.” The animation showed Soul Calibur appearing to look mad, but when some light traveled from Gantz to her, she appeared to soften up, her aura almost looking gentler. “Due to such, there are those rare times when Codependence can actually do some good. For a time, the souls cooperate, and the body functions and runs as normal.” The two wisps appear to shake hands.
Wally considered this a moment. “Well if Codependence is like that, then what’s everyone so worried about mate?”
Tarosuke groaned. “I’ll explain that, just give me a second.” He cleared his throat, before the animation returned. “However, Codependence is not perfect. Far from it actually.” He appears to pull out a pointer from nowhere and points to the human body animation. “You see, Codependence COMPLETELY ignores the unwritten rule-book of sentient souls. If it was written, it would clearly state that two souls can NOT exist in the same body forever, such a thought is just ludicrous. Normally the second soul would lose control of the body and be expelled. However, Codependence reveals what would happen if you did keep a soul in you even longer beyond that. Basically speaking, the host body starts to take on the traits of the second soul in it’s system.” The animation zooms in on the two wisps. “The only reason Gantz hasn’t been through this stage yet is because he’s applied some type of magical countermeasures for it.” It shows the Gantz wisp, setting a barrier between himself and Soul Calibur’s wisp. “However, defenses like that don’t last long, it just delays the inevitable.” The barrier breaks down after a second. “I’ll make the last factor short and sweet. Soul Calibur, in ancient legends, was a sword made of pure crystal, that could crystallize anything she wanted so long as she was touching it. The same applies here.” The animation shows the body. “Best case scenario, if Gantz can transfer Soul into a sword on time, he’ll be saved from the final effects of Codependence and both he and Soul Calibur walk away unscathed… Worst case scenario…”
The animation shows the human body again….
Before it suddenly transforms into a crystal statue, the body moving enough to almost look frightened before it froze up completely.
“The traits of her original husk take over the host; crystallizing him, and freezing him in time… Forever.”
……………….. The animation disappeared, revealing that Tarosuke had been pointing at a blackboard with chalked on factors. Wally looked completely and totally horrified, Otto looked like such a thing didn’t really surprise him, Helga looked close to tears… Misty?
“Gantz… I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Needless to say she was pissed. Heck ‘pissed’ didn’t begin to cover it. Thankfully she was grabbed and held back by Otto and Wally before she could throttle the kid. As she was she was scratching, clawing, and kicking at open air. “LET ME GO!!!! I’M GONNA KICK HIS ASS!!!! HE KNEW ABOUT THIS ALL ALONG AND HE NEVER TOLD ANY OF US!!!!!!!!! I’VE HAD IT WITH HIS SECRETS!!!!!!!! I SWEAR IF THIS CODEPENDENCE DOESN'T KILL HIM... I WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!" It wasn’t so much that Gantz kept the secret. No, what really made Misty mad was the fact that this secret was actually, literally, capable of killing him. They could’ve found a sword sooner… She wasn’t ready to lose another friend! …. Though she wouldn’t dare admit that to anyone else.
[I'll go into what I had planned for this thread in my next post, for now, I'll pause for your responses.]

Kyle and De'Marcus both didn't pay much attention to Tarosuke's explanation of codependance. They both knew about it fairly well. Kyle thanks to Oni, and De'Marcus thanks to the fact that codependance was often attempted by non-Archghost ghosts back on Earth? only to have both souls discover that doesn't really work too well. Actually, he'd really only ever met one person that had managed to get Codependance to work well for her. That Pilar chick, and the demon she was sharing a body with, Larry.
De'Marcus suddenly took a glance toward Kyle. Something about that Oni shadow of Kyle's earlier reminded De'Marcus of Larry. 'Course, he'd have to intentionally bring Oni out to test his theory, and he doubted that'd go over well with anyone involved. Plus he didn't even know if he'd be sticking with this half delirious possessed kid for much longer anyways. Better to just forget about it.
"So Gantz is gonna turn into a crystal, huh?" Waddle Dee said. He looked back at Yang. "All the more reason for this guy to give us a sword to put Soul Calibur in right. Now."

Double D did not inturrupt Tarosuke's explanation, though he grew more and more worried by the second. He especially gulped at the crystalization part; as he could remember, that moment he too was encased in crystal, albeit brief, was not enjoyable. To be in such a paralyzing, terrifying state, for all eternity...
He shook his head, shaking off any fears and insecurities. If the others could speak up to this god of darkness, well then, so could he.
"L...Lady Yin, Lord Yang..." Double D held his hands at his chest, trying to remain humble. "We beseech you please... if not for Soul, then at least for Gantz... please grace us with your assistance... please."
