Yamada sat back down in his chair again and yawned as Bakura asked his question. He sighed.
"I meant he's been acting weird. He'd always had trouble showing up to work on time before, but now it's at obscene levels. He's always mouthing off to Takahashi-san, and he doesn't even really talk to anyone anymore," Yamada said. "And even though you were missing, he didn't even bother looking for you! Bakura-san, Adachi-san really likes you. You have no idea how excited he was when you moved in. And then, about the time he started acting so weird, he just stopped talking about you."
And then there was what Anpu had brought up. Would the Adachi Yamada knew really shoot someone like that? With how oddly Adachi had been acting... maybe it was a possibility. But what would cause Adachi to act like that?

That was something Bakura hadn't really been able to see before. Then again, it had been a two way street. Not that he opened himself up to that much. Anpu considered for a moment about the timing of that. Bakura had been leaving when the Ring got back to him... and Adachi had shown strong resentment towards him. Internally, he chuckled. Caring about people just screwed up your goals, after all. Bakura looked guilty.
"I... kind of got into a fight with him. It's why I left. I didn't think I'd effect him that much..."
Which put an angle on it that Yamada had likely not considered. His head had been whirling at Anpu's words. Bakura had just suggested an alternative. After all, it was Yamada who said Adachi cared about Bakura that much. If there really was a surrogate parent relationship going on, it wasn't impossible Bakura's disappearance was to blame.

Yamada raised an eyebrow. Adachi had gotten into a fight with Bakura? That hadn't come up before, but if that was the case, that would explain why Bakura would have left... and why Adachi was so depressed.
"I see..." Yamada said. "Y'know, if you weren't in jail, I'd tell you to go apologize to Adachi-san or reassure him or... just talk to him! You'll probably make him feel better, and you'll probably feel better too."
Well, maybe. Yamada wasn't a psychologist. Hell, he had enough trouble reading normal people. About the only person he really could read all that well was Nekoi, and that's because she only ever had two moods: irritated-bitchy, and angry-bitchy.

Bakura gave a weak grimace. It was likely it had been intended as a smile, but it fell more than a bit short. He looked over towards the wall again before his eyes widened. He looked over at Yamada but his shoulders seemed to fall for a moment. There was an extended hesitation.
"I don't want to disturb Adachi-san, but is there any way I could get a message to Yuugi-kun? I don't know if he even has a phone. I think Seta-san does, and they're together a lot... But I don't have a number..."

Yamada thought about that. He shrugged. "If you knew their number, you could use your one phone call for that or something, but it's no good without a number."
He thought about it. "You could send them a letter or something like that... Hey, Yuugi wouldn't happen to work at a cafe near here, would he?"
Now that Yamada thought about it, he HAD seen someone working the register with the name "Yuugi" on their nametag more than once. With Adachi in the hospital, Yamada was going to be stuck doing coffee runs for a while. He could pass on the message that way.

Bakura's eyes widened at that. Anpu had intended to use the relation that Souji seemed to have to Adachi to his favor, but this worked better. This didn't involve further interactions with the avatar that hated him, and if he could trust anyone to get things to the Pharaoh it was his boyfriend. There was the risk of it getting to Souji as well, but it was less with this direction. The teenager gave a quick nod.
"I've seen him there a few times!" Bakura seemed rather relieved at that development.

Yamada grinned. That would work, then. "Alright, I can take him this message for you the next time Takahashi-san makes me go buy him coffee. What do you want me to tell him?"

Bakura hesitated for a moment. It was because Anpu needed time to think. He wanted something that could inform the Pharaoh of what was going on but wouldn't pass on well to anyone else. While there was probably a turn of phrase he could use given Yamada's apparent intelligence, he didn't want to run risks. Bakura shifted his weight as if uncomfortable for a moment.
"It.. it would be easier if I wrote it down..." Bakura said, "Would you mind...?"

Yamada frowned and grabbed a pad of paper that had been left on the table. He tore off a few pages that had been notes from some interrogation before handing the pad and a pen to Bakura.
"Here you go."

Bakura seemed both grateful and relieved that Yamada was letting him write it down. He took the papers and turned towards the wall. If Yamada watched him, he'd note that rather neat katakana was being written on the paper. Not that it looked to be anything legible, no matter how many languages the man may or may not have known. At several points Bakura would pause and seem to think about something before continuing. This was usually followed by a less then common combination of kana, forming a pronunciation string Yamada would have never encountered before.
Bakura ended up taking the front and back of one full sheet of the pad. He closed it and held both the pen and paper out to Yamada. Even with a closer look, it would seem garbled nonsense to the man. After all, it wasn't like he knew how to pronounce or even speak Ancient Egyptian...

Yamada took the pad and pen with no objections. He raised an eyebrow at the message. What was this, some kinda code? He didn't question it, though, even though he probably should have, and tore off the paper before folding it up and sticking it in his breast pocket. He could get it to the kid tomorrow.
"Alrighty," Yamada said. He leaned back in his chair and took a look toward Bakura. Definitely still Bakura. Assured it was safe to go to sleep again, he began to doze off once more.

Bakura gave a slight smile at the confirmation. He let out a sigh and walked back over to the bed, laying down. He stayed there until he was sure Yamada was asleep. Then Anpu smirked. The fool hadn't even questioned it. His contigencies had been useless, after all. The Thief King closed his eyes and was as asleep as he ever let himself be before much longer.
