Seth nodded. It had jumped straight to business, as he had expected. He wished he could provide support, but he knew he couldn't. The words would at best be a comfort, and that was only if he didn't say them wrong. Seth looked towards the window. It wasn't, as could be mistaken, a change of topic.
"As far as..." Seth paused. He was going to mention both himself and Atsuro. He chose to reword it, "As far as I can tell, someone got into your room and threw the clock out of it. I can only think to explain that by a message. Do you think something is trying to tell us they can get the Items whenever they want? Who would want them?"

Abel reached up and put a hand on his face as Seth talked. Someone who would want to get a message like that across... He could think of a couple people.
"...Anyone who wants Zorc back," Abel said. "Or Nyarlathotep. I think it's Nyarlathotep. That demon and Lucifer are the only two individuals I know who would be cocky enough to do that, and I doubt Lucifer would have come here to taunt me like that. He would have just taken the items if that was the case."
The fact that Abel hadn't explained why he had the Items in the first place to Seth yet, it having slipped his mind what with many other things. But Atem had said if the Items were together, they would bring Zorc back, and from Atsuro's explanations, Abel could tell that was a very bad thing.

Seth had no intentions of asking. There were only two options as far as he could see, and even if Abel and Atem carried a sort of mild friction, his king considered Yuugi a friend. He wouldn't do something of this magnitude without permission. Seth didn't question Abel's assessment, although he couldn't think of why Nyarlathotep would want the Items. Giving Atsuro's description, they were demonic, but that didn't seem enough. He also wasn't sure he agreed with Abel's statement that Lucifer wouldn't taunt him... but he wouldn't do it like this. The way Lucifer had assaulted him before implied he was more interested in direct confrontation.
Something off about the situation then occurred to Seth. He held the towel around his waist as he stood up. He leaned over the bed and grabbed the alarm clock, holding it towards Abel.
"What I don't get is why a demon would see the need to use an alarm clock. They're both more direct than that, they wouldn't try to mislead us by making it seem a demon hadn't done it."

Abel lowered the hand from his head and looked up as Seth held out the alarm clock. He frowned and began to think about that.
"That's a good point," Abel said. "The only human I can think of that would want the Items wouldn't be stupid enough to taunt me like that, though, not after what I did to him last time."
Not only that, but it seemed out of character for Anpu. Abel highly doubted Anpu would just leave the Items when he could have very easily taken them. Besides, if he was trying to make a message, wouldn't it make more sense to taunt Atem?

In truth, Seth had hoped Abel would have an idea. This put them back at square one. There were too many questions not answered. What Seth did know was that whatever had been in there had broken the lock. Snapped it, more like, and not at the point one would expect. The top was actually broken, not the part that locked. That wasn't something your average human could do, and yet whatever it was had felt the need to throw an alarm clock out. Too many things didn't fit.
"Forgive me for being forward, but did Yuugi-tachi ask you to watch the Items...?" Seth had yet to return to his normal way of speaking with Abel. It was just no longer over the top. The words were now within the average ranges of formal.
He'd be willing to explain if he had to. He didn't think he would, and he had no way of knowing his train of thought was wrong. To him, if Yuugi or one of his friends had asked Abel to watch the Items, it seemed possible they were aware they were being targetted. Which would mean they'd have an idea who could have gone after them.

Abel nodded. "Somehow I doubt they know, though. Yuugi at the very least would have warned me about something like this, though."
He looked over toward the broken lock and toward the window. An alarm clock had been thrown at the window, which a demon wouldn't do. The force that had been used on the lock was more akin to a demon, though.
"....There was more than one person," Abel realized.

Seth sighed and sat back down. Abel was right, Yuugi wasn't the sort to keep things like that from others. He found himself looking at the alarm, the clock, and then the window. He hadn't missed the idea that it could be two people, but it still didn't make sense. Was the whole point of this just to confuse them. He looked towards Abel as he voiced what he was thinking.
"That almost has to be it. But if the window was caused by a human, doesn't that indicate that the warning was meant to tell us to be more careful? Who would care that much?" Seth winced a bit. Even his manner of speaking had become more informal. He looked away, took a breath, and continued with the same Japanese he'd been using, "Besides that, wouldn't they have had to stand up to a demon? Would anyone we know be that capable...?"

"Hm." Abel straightened up and crossed his arms. "Maybe it wasn't someone we know. It's not like I've really talked to anyone besides Yuugi and Atem lately. It's been nearly two weeks since the Fall; they could have easily met someone who could stand up to a demon."
He turned toward Seth. "I'm about ninety percent sure the demon that broke in was Nyarlathotep. He would have stolen the Items just to spite me, and he would have been able to get in without you noticing. As for the other person..." He shrugged. He honestly had no clue.

Seth didn't argue. At this point they were running in circles. It didn't seem Yuugi had gotten Abel to watch the Items because they were in danger. As Abel had said, Yuugi would have mentioned that. It pretty much left the option Abel was thinking of. They had an ally somewhere, it looked like.
The only other option was that Nyarlathotep had just been screwing with them. Not impossible, but Seth was willing to take the simplest explanation at this point. Someone had thrown the clock out of the window. probably to attempt to get attention. Seth paused. Someone fast, he'd gone out of that room as soon as the window had broken.
"I'll take care of the laundry, then," Seth stated. He stopped halfway to the bathroom and looked down at the towel still wrapped around his waist, "Would you mind much if I borrowed some clothes?"

Abel shook his head at Seth's question, indicating that he could go right ahead. He looked down at the COMP Atsuro had left once more before picking it up and putting it in his jacket pocket. He then pulled his hood up over his horns again.
"I'll be back later," Abel said. It wasn't because he was looking for Lucifer or Hitoshura or anything like that this time. It was more because he wanted to clear his head. After a moment, he grabbed the Torque from his dresser drawer and tied it around his neck. He wanted to keep at least one with him, just in case.
With both Atsuro's COMP and the Torque with him, Abel headed out the door.
