Fredd rolled his eyes at Crono's lecture, but at least, FINALLY, he was getting off his back. He feigned looking around for someone to help them look for lodgings for the night, watching out of the corner of his eye the interaction between Mallory and Crono. And tsked lightly.
What was up with this kid anyway? What did he get acting all chivelrous towards her? And wasn't that the Fusion's job, to gain her trust by helping her? Where did this stupid swordsman get off!?
Not like he was jealous or anything.
"...well?" he grunted, finding it hard to mask his discontent. "We ain't gonna find any 'lodgings' by just standing around."

Meanwhile elsewhere in the Ghost Town...
PUNT!!!
A creature that resembled a tall skinny bone wearing a jacket and a bowler hat, smoking a cigar found himself kicked out of what appeared to be an old time saloon and inn.
"And remember you klutzy little waste! You better bring those mushrooms in pristine, non bruised condition! Otherwise I'll do worse to you! Kapeesh!?!?"
Inside, the place didn't look like a saloon. All of the tables had been gotten rid of, leaving an almost entirely empty room... The bar and the shelves behind it were the only things that remained, though they were occupied... By Teddy Bears. The bar was lined up by all kinds of Teddy Bears, with even more lining the multiple shelves behind them. One HUGE teddy bear that looked about five feet high sat in one corner of the room as well.
In the center of the room was a portion of the floor that had been dug out, with what looked bunch of fresh kindling lighting a fire underneath what appeared to be a big steaming cauldron.
Standing over it, Tabitha, or the Witch Princess, took in every ingredient she had, before throwing a few into the brew. However she was missing a certain type of mushroom that only grew here in the Ghost Town... Thus the scene earlier.
It was his fault though; tossing the most beloved teddy bear in her collection into the void below the island... One that had been given to her, by someone she held quite dear... She growled lightly as she focused back on her brew. "He better get back here soon..."

Warren flinched as Crono looked his way. Really, it was almost ridiculous. The rabbit boy was flinching at anything he so much as glanced at. He vigorously shook his head as Crono asked if he was going to attack again. How could he? He was scared out of his mind right now, and while the general reactions in this case were "fight or flight", Warren tended to lean more toward the "flight" reaction.
"I know, I'm sorry," Mallory said again, though it wasn't sure who she was answering. She very carefully pushed herself off of Crono and stood up again. "I-I think there's a run down saloon around here somewhere... and I think they have an inn... but I don't know..."
Warren's ears pricked up. He knew where that inn was. He felt odd power from it sometimes, but that was part of why he knew it so well. He suddenly looked almost eager to help.

Crono looked kind of guilty. She really didn't need to apologize that much, no one blamed her! Not even Fredd, who Crono had wondered about for a while there. Those worries were completely out the window now, the guy had clearly just underestimated how sick she was and was trying to help her do her job. That green Mallory was turning was something else though... he honestly couldn't be sure she was going to be all right. He'd have to find a doctor after they got settled down somewhere. He looked towards Fredd as he made his comment.
"Well, they tend to be fairly obvious... maybe you should look? I don't think Mallory should be left alone," he glanced at Warren, "Hey, what did you mean by magic users earlier? And why did you attack us like that...?"

"Waaaaaaa-OOF."
The Bone giggled even as his face was planted in the ground. He didn't really care WHAT Tabitha did to him physically, she STILL looked really funny when she was angry.
"Will do, Miss Witch Princess!" Smiley called out, even after the door had slammed. Nonchalant as ever, he strolled off, humming a nameless tune as he went to go pick the mushrooms she wanted.
--------
Fredd raised a brow, suspicious. Leave her alone... with HIM? He didn't like that idea. He didn't like that idea at all. And it was for reasons deeper than his duty to Lord Fuse...
...but before he could question those reasons, he was bumped into from behind with a small "whoops!" and a chuckle. He whirled around with a seething glare, and was met with a huge grin and a tip of his hat.
"Sorry 'bout that! Got a little sidetracked."

Warren only continued to shake his head wordlessly when Crono turned toward him again. It wasn't like he could speak right now. It was yet another unfortunate side effect of his seal. It also meant he couldn't explain himself in situations like these.
Warren honestly hadn't seen the strange creature approaching either. So when it bumped into Fredd and said its part, Warren jumped to his feet and pretty much flew toward Crono and cowered behind him. It was after Warren was already cowering behind Crono that he realized who he was cowering behind, jumped once again, and took several steps away from the spiky haired kid.
Mallory giggled a bit at Warren's behavior. She turned toward the new arrival and smiled. "Oh, it's okay, mister... Um, you wouldn't happen to know where an inn is, would you?"

Crono tensed up as Warren pretty much leapt behind him, distracted from the brief moment of surprise he'd had at the smaller white being that ran into Fredd. His hand was on his sword before he got a good luck at Warren's eyes. He blinked. He could tell the rabbit person was terrified from behind his glasses. What exactly was going on with him...? He hesitated, looking towards Mallory while still supporting her before turning towards Fredd and the new arrival.
"So.... uh, hello?"

"Well, howdy!" Smiley Bone tipped his hat in greeting. "Great to see new faces around the town! I tell ya, it's like a dang ghost town around these parts!"
Fredd stared at this weird, weird creature as he laughed at his own joke, then turned to Mallory. He put on an exaggerated look of contemplation. "Hmmm... dunno of any inn... but I help run a saloon down the road! We got beds there if yer needin' a place t' rest yer head! And th' owner's SUCH a sweet lady!"
"Fine, alright, could you just take us there, then?" Fredd inturrupted, growing rather irritated of this guy already.

"Ah, yes, please take us there!" Mallory said. She wasn't sure what this weird creature was, but an inn of any kind sounded wonderful.
Warren, on the other hand, flinched rather badly when Smiley mentioned the "sweet lady". It seemed that Warren was acquainted with whoever this girl was, though he wasn't saying anything about her, just putting off more fear. Honestly, it seemed more like Warren was afraid of everything.

Well, if it was a Mystic (almost had to be, given the appearance), at least it was a friendly one. So this was probably some time after the present era. It sure wasn't the era that Zeal had fallen, and he couldn't think of another one where the monsters had gotten along with the humans. He gave a goofy smile at Bone's joke, not really getting it but liking how friendly the creature seemed to be. He gave a nod.
"That sounds good to me. We need a doctor, but I think we should find a place to lay down first," Crono chose not to specify Mallory. He looked over at Warren and gave a somewhat concerned but attempting to be encouraging smile, "Him too? I think we scared him earlier..."
(OOC: Crono, please drop the Hero Ball. I suppose this is why you didn't flip when you found out Magus was in the party... XD)

"ANYone's welcome, friend!" Smiley proclaimed gayfully, grinning as his spun about-face and led them toward the inn. "And who knows, maybe she can cure whatever's ailin' ya! She's got SOME magic goin' on, not like I know what her mumbo jumbo does, we can sure ask and see!"
That was... unsettling. The last thing Fredd needed right now was a cure for Mallory's 'ailment.' Still, he wasn't sure if it was smart to trust this idiotic-sounding bum with his smelly cigar and all, so he didn't start panicking just yet.
What he did do, to try and show Crono that his fears were groundless, was, though deeply reluctantly, offer his arm to Mallory for support in case she needed it. He didn't announce it, of course; he made a point to direct a tsundre-pout in the other direction, despite how obviously his elbow was clearly stuck out in offering.

Back with Tabitha, she had taken to sitting in on a magicked up chair, reading a book as she awaited Smiley's return... though it didn't look like the book was helping. Growling under her breath, she bookmarked the novel, and placed it on the ground... "Maybe when I'm not too stressed..." Standing back up, she walked back to the concoction, and looked into it. "Pfff... Great... I keep this up any longer and the stupid mixture is going to go bad. There's only so long a potion can go on without getting finished."
After a moment, she heard the door open from the other side of the Saloon. "Oh there you are, finally." Crossing her arms, she looked to the door. "You better have those mushrooms, my potion can't wait another-"
Tabitha's eyes widened when she saw who all was accompanying Smiley.
........................................ Silence followed a moment............
With a tumble, the girl quickly ran, almost tripping all the while, and stood in front of the cauldron, attempting to hide it behind her cape. "Smiley............ This may sound sorta silly but... Who... THE HECK, ARE THEY?"
There was a snarl growing in volume in her tone.

Mallory hadn't really expected such a run down inn. It was kind of dusty, too. There was an odd feeling about it she couldn't quite pin down, either. Things that were not helping her apprehension: Warren would not stop cowering behind her. She had no idea why he kept doing so, but he was.
Things that did not help: Tabitha yelling at Smiley the moment they walked in. Warren immediately jumped behind Crono at the sight of the girl, and he seemed to be more terrified of her than he was of their whole group put together. It seemed likely that Warren and Tabitha had some kind of prior history...
Mallory stepped forward. "Ah... We were looking for a place to stay for the night, and Mr. Bone here lead the way to your inn! We'd like to stay... if that's alright, of course."

Crono returned Smiley's encouragement with another smile. Things seemed to be looking up, and at least they had a place to stay. He could get about figuring out when he was tomorrow. Besides, travelling with people from a time period always seemed to lead right to that. He'd seen no indication that Fredd and Mallory weren't. Warren... well, magic could have come back somehow, right?
He gave a look towards Mallory, concerned about her ability to make even a short walk. However, Fredd had offered her his arm and she'd ended up taking it, so that front seemed well. A short walk later the group were at an extremely run down inn. The tents in Prehistory had been more inviting then this, really. Still, Mallory really needed rest, so with himself slightly more on guard he went in with the rest of the group.
Crono took a startled step back as the woman sort of flipped. He looked quickly between the group and the woman a few times before lifting his hands up, palms forward. He was sweatdropping and gave a nervous sort of chuckle as Tabitha glared at them.
"Ah, my name's Crono and this is Fredd and Mallory and... uh... someone we just met! The Mystic here said that you had rooms available... As much as I'd like to say we can go someplace else, we really need a place right now..." Crono tensed up and looked down as Warren hid behind him, still confused by the shift of behavior. He looked back up at Tabitha, "Did we come at a bad time...?"
He didn't seem the least concerned with the cauldron Tabitha was vainly attempting to conceal.

"Ooooh, I'm a Mystic, now, huh?" Smiley grinned hugely at the name. "I like that! Hey, Tabitha, can ya call me a 'Mystic' from now on?"
His smile dropped a little at the Witch Princess' obviously enraged look. "...oh, right! The Mushrooms!" He giggled nervously. "Tell ya what! You let these here nice people stay th' night, they'll be my charge! Honest! And I'll go get th' mushrooms while they settle in? Pleasey-pleasey-lemon-squeezey?"
Fredd... actually didn't mind their accomedations all that much, really. Unlike the others, he had no standard for sleeping quarters; after all, Fusions didn't NEED sleep. Wherever Mallory could rest her pretty little head so he could take her to Fuse later, that was all that mattered to him right now.
...although that cauldron looked terribly intriguing. And dangerous curiosity was another trait he inherited from his human counterpart. "...what's cookin' back there?"
