"GEEZ...!" Fredd stumbled back; where the HELL did that lightning come from!?
He looked over at Crono, who looked ready to brawl the rabbit. Well, good, then. Maybe he WAS useful for SOMEthing. He'd keep him around and consider a double-infection if the guy wasn't so damn nosey.
While the rabbit was distracted, the Fusion swooped in and pulled Mallory to her feet, fully intending to get her to safety; to keep her well for Fuse, of course. Yeah. Totally. "This happen to you a lot, or what?" he asked, somewhat irritated.

Unlike Fredd and Mallory, Warren had sensed the build up of magical energies around Crono. He turned his head toward Crono just as the lightning bolt struck in front of where Warren had just been. Some time during the bright flash of light, Warren had disappeared. The rabbit appeared out of a warp and landed on top of a decrepit building behind Crono.
"Oh, good show! Good show!" Warren called. "I haven't run into a spellcaster in years! Well, that's a big fat lie, but hey, a bloke can dream, can't he?"
Mallory winced as Fredd pulled her to her feet. "...I'm not very good at my job," Mallory admitted. As Warren spoke, she wheeled around and looked up at him. "I've gotta get that watch from him! If I mess this assignment up, they'll fire me!" She looked toward Fredd with a desperate look on her face. "I've gotta keep this job! Please, Fredd, can you help me?"

Crono tensed up and whirled around at the voice. He hadn't even seen Warren vanish. His eyes widened as Warren said he hadn't run into a spellcaster in a while. No, implied afterwards that the last one had been recent. From a historical perspective that almost had to be Magus, right? The idea that it was Zeal wasn't something he wanted to deal with. He'd never seen anything like that in Zeal, meaning it had to have gone away before it had fallen.
And then a more likely scenario hit. The whole reason he'd jumped times again was because Lucca had gone missing. Didn't that mean it was possible he'd seen her?!. He held out his sword in a defensive posture and shouted up at him. He wasn't unaware of Fredd and Mallory's positions, though, and would react if Warren tried to do anything in that regard.
"What would you know about spellcasters?!" he shouted up at Warren.

"I noticed," Fredd replied gruffly to Mallory's first statement, looking off to where the rabbit had appeared; whoa, nice trick. He watched Crono enter the fray, and he so, SO wanted to just cut out and run off with the girl. But really, that wouldn't help his delicate situation, and as he sized up Mallory, he knew it was too early; she hadn't even started turning green yet. If he dragged her out now, she'd have plently of time to resist and escape his clutches, which really wasn't something he needed right now.
With that mainly in mind... ignoring her pleading expression and big ebony eyes as she shamelessly begged for his help, naturally...
"...fine," Fredd grunted, turning away swiftly, disturbed by that... that look she was giving him that made him feel uncomfortable. "I'll grab his stupid watch for ya."

Warren gave a smirk as Crono yelled at him. Well well, this boy wanted to know about spellcasters.
"Nothin' so important I'd share it with a boy like you," Warren said. "Oh, and if you see an Alexander D. Crowell, tell him I said I know exactly where he can stick that magical quill of his."
He disappeared again, and appeared on another roof. "Not that I'm planning on giving you the chance to tell him this, of course."
"Yay! Thank you!" Mallory cried, and made to hug Fredd again, but thankfully for Fredd, another wave of nausea kept Mallory from going through with another attempt to smother him. She fell back and caught herself on a crate.

Crono glared at the smirk. Why oh why did he have to deal with arrogant guys like this? He was as bad as Magus had... as Magus often was. Maybe there was some story behind it, but right now everyone's lives were in danger. It was kind of depressing Frog wasn't here, Crono wouldn't have minded seeing how Warren would react to the Masamune. Still, that wasn't really the focus here. There was still a chance that the spellcaster he meant was Lucca, and he didn't look like was going to talk without some more convincing.
"Hey, run interference for me!" Crono shouted towards Fredd. While it was true he didn't totally trust the guy, it did seem they had a common enemy in Warren.
Crono sheathed his sword and began to chant. Only one syllable caused the magic energy about him to fly through the friggin' roof. The air an inch out from any direction of Crono began to be charged and a very faint electric blue glow could be seen on his body, manifesting almost as if the area around him had just barely darkened. A crackling sort of buzzing sound could be heard even by those unable to sense the energy, kind of the hum one might expect from a machine working too hard.
As the red haired teenager continued, the energy gathering around his body began to make his hairs stand on end. If anyone present had any ability to sense magical energy, Crono's was flying through the roof. Warren would have a chance to stop the spell if he moved now and straight towards Crono... otherwise he'd be hit with it on the way to attempting to cut it off.
"Ti kuro mi nala rian far sho..."
(OOC: Spell is Luminaire. FF, if you let it hit let me handle the brunt of the description. If Warren manages to stop him by getting past Fusion Edd (assuming he bothers to listen to Crono... XD), let me handle the result. Either way is fine. XD
Sorry this took so long! XD)

"What? Interference?!" Fredd hadn't a clue what the dork was talking about. He assumed a meant to act as a distraction while he powered up... whatever new magic spell he was casting now. His nose wrinkled at the notion, but he DID have the get the pocket watch anyway, so it really made no difference either way.
Now, before he could contemplate why he was even BOTHERING to answer her request in the first place, but he then noticed her hit of naseua. Good. That meant she wouldn't go anywhere. "Hmmp, you okay? You mind hitting me with... whatever that power you got is to make me get to him faster?"
(You're free to manipulate Fredd's next approach however you see fit, FF, whether it's successful or not. XD)

"Huh? Oh, uh... sure!" Mallory said. She put her hand on Fredd, and increased the amount of potential energy in his body. The moment he started moving, he would run faster than any of the others at the moment.
The moment Crono started chanting, one could see Warren's confidence ebb away. His ears fell flat against his head, and he looked actually worried for the first time since the fight had started. That moment of slight hesitation meant that he hadn't moved near fast enough to cut off Crono's attack, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to try.
He rushed forward, jumping off of the roof as he did so. As he jumped off, he disappeared through another tear in space, appearing behind Crono. He rushed forward, only to have Fredd cut him off. Warren almost tripped as Fredd appeared in front of him, and only managed to stop in time to keep from crashing into him.
"Bloody hell!" Warren cried. "Fine!" He reached into his waistcoat to grab his watch just as Crono finished casting.

Crono was putting his full focus into the attack, so he didn't really notice Warren move much. Thankfully, the spell he had chosen hit everything in an area he considered a foe. He'd never really learned to just pick and choose opponents with it, and he quite frankly didn't think it was possible. The best he could do was arc it around to prevent hitting his allies.
The air around him let out a sound almost like a gasp as several points of light shot towards his body as he literally rose off the ground. His arms were spread to either side and somehow there seemed to be a pretty decent wind blowing all around him. His eyes shot open and looked entirely out of focus and less than safe.
"LUMINAIRE!"
And then the energy that had been gathering around and in him exploded outwards in a dome that covered the entire battlefield and then some. It was a sort of neon green in color and bolts were dancing on the surface and hitting several things inside. A few of the bolts seemed to fly towards Mallory and Fredd, but they diverted, acting far faster than even Fredd could so that even a misplaced dodge would prevent harm to his allies.
The electrical energy dancing inside instead shot straight towards Warren. At this point dodging was out of the question, and his opponent would be wracked with amounts of electricity that would kill your average human. As soon as the attack hit there was a flash of light, the illussion of the air around them dimming for half a second before Crono dropped to the ground, whirled around, and pulled out his blade in a ready stance.
....hopefully the watch could take that kind of shock, actually.
(OOC: Oh god I"m sorry I completely forgot this thread! XD)

Fredd stared at the pocketwatch behind offered to him. His left eye twitched. "...and you didn't give it up before BECAUSE...?"
At Crono's shout, he had his answer. He cast a fleeting glance at the spellcaster before taking to opportunity to snatch the watch from the dumbstruck Warren's hands before he could change his mind.
"WAGH!!" Fredd stumlbed back, thinking he'd get hit by that insane attack for sure, ducking his head in and just RUNNING in the opposite direction as Warren.

Warren was already pretty aware of how screwed he was once Crono finished casting. The fact that the spiky haired kid had lifted off the ground was what pretty much proved it for him. He broke off into a run the moment the electrical field spread across the battlefield. He probably could have teleported again, but ten minutes had passed since he'd removed his glasses, and right now he was pretty damn panicked.
Mallory flinched as a bolt flew her way, and expected to be electrocuted. When she opened her eyes, though, she found that the bolt had actually changed direction in midair and flew toward Warren. The rabbit was hit with several bolts of electricity at once, and he fell to the ground. The pocketwatch flew from his hand and landed in the dirt in front of Mallory. She bent down and picked it up.
"Wow, this really is a nice watch..." Mallory thought to herself. She turned her head to look toward Warren, and looked a bit regretful. "I'm sorry about having to hurt you, Mr. Shire! Are you okay?"
Warren was hurting pretty bad, actually. That had been some damn strong lightning. He'd been hit with worse in the past before, though. He began to push himself up and opened his mouth to yell some rather nasty things at Mallory, but no sound came out. And then the already panicked rabbit looked even more panicked. And then he looked positively terrified of Crono, Fredd, and Mallory.
"Um... Mr. Shire...?" Mallory tentatively asked. She gave another couple of coughs, and groaned. She was really starting to feel sick. Her face was a little green, and with how sick she appeared to be, it would be easy to assume it was from nausea. In any case, Warren didn't look like he was moving, whether from his injuries or his fear.

Crono hesitated as the expression on Warren's face shifted. He looked downright... well, innocent. For some reason the spiky haired teenager felt like he'd just kicked the crap out of someone's pet dog. He was considering what he was supposed to do next when Mallory coughed and let out her groan. His eyes widened and he spun towards her, grimacing at the color of her skin. Man, she had it bad.
For some reason, Warren still hadn't moved from his spot. Crono considered for another second before sheathing his sword and running over to Mallory, putting up a hand to catch her if she suddenly tipped. Ignoring a seemingly safe Warren for the time being, he shot a glare towards Fredd. If she wasn't clearly sick before, she looked ready to collapse now. Was he going to still insist they push forward?
"Hey, are you okay?" Crono asked, his voice low and concerned.

Fredd didn't look up to see how he had magically evaded the attack--or rather how the attack evaded him--but he figured it wouldn't matter. When the sounds of the attack ended and echoed off into the distance, he finaly braved a look over his shoulder at the carnage... only to find the rabbit-kid looking absolutely terrified. Like a REAL rabbit. Geez, what the hell did that attack DO, anyways!?
Well, then. It seemed the end of that threat was replaced by his LAST issue from before, as he noted Crono's glare with an internal groan. Why did he want to keep this kid around again? Half of his problems right now stemmed from his nosiness.
Still... Mallory's progressing condition was actually taken with hidden glee; it was working. Now all he needed to do was wait a little longer before contacting Lord Fuse, setting up an extraction location, escorting her there, and receiving praise and his next mission. Which he was HIGHLY looking forward to.
But Crono was complicating the matter, as now he not only had to come up with a story to satisfy Mallory without giving away his intentions (though she seemed naive and easily trusting), but he had to satisfy the magic swordsman too. What a hassle.
Still... anything... anything for some approval from Lord Fuse... he'd screwed up a lot lately, he imagined he had to really work for renewal of respect. With that in mind, Fredd attempted a good rationale to placcate Crono.
"Well... looks like she's done with her... collection business..." Which bought me a lotta time, bonus points. "But... she... shouldn't be moved around a lot, not in her condition." Score! "Maybe we can find a hotel around here somewhere and call for some medical help..?"

Warren was very hastily pushing his glasses back on his face as Crono and Fredd turned their attention back toward the poor little sick debt collector. He was still shiverring badly, but he was pushing past his fear enough to pay attention to their conversation. And then Warren's skills at reading people kicked in, and he realized something Crono and Mallory hadn't caught on to yet. Fredd was delighting in Mallory's condition. In fact, it almost sounded like he was trying to buy time for something.
Mallory gave another groan. "I don't feel so good... We... we should find lodgings for tonight... I'm sorry I'm such an inconvenience."
Her condition really seemed to be worsening by the second. Her skin seemed to be turning a deeper shade of green, too. She wavered again, and then she did fall forward into Crono's arms.
"I'm sorry..." Mallory whimpered.

Crono let out a surprised grunt when Mallory fell into his arm. It was only by planting his feet and throwing his weight to the side he managed not to drop the poor girl. She was taller than him, and it made angles a little funny. Being sixteen, average height, and still growing tended to do that with a fully grown and fairly tall woman. He pushed her up a bit to regain his balance as Fredd finally suggested they wait somewhere. Crono seemed to relax a fair bit at this.
"Look, I admire your dedication to helping her get her job done, but next time pay more attention to her condition!" Crono chastised. He didn't seem at all suspicious anymore, actually, implying he was taking Fredd's words at face value. He gave a nervous glance towards Warren, "...You're not going to attack us again, right? Look, I'm sorry about before but you did strike first..."
Crono wondered if Warren would know about an inn... he didn't seem to be all that dangerous once the fight was over. The spiky haired red-head was willing to admit a miscommunication had happened somewhere. He looked at Mallory and gave a silly grin and shook his head.
"Nah, don't worry. Not like you asked to get sick, right?"
