Physical Description
Ishizu is a pure-blooded Egyptian woman. She has the natural tan that would be expected for her ethnicity, but when said ethnicity is taken into account she can be said to have a fair skin tone. She has long black hair that is cut straight at the bottom and falls a little past her shoulder blades. Her bangs raise a slight touch up from her head. She pulls them back behind her ears and keeps it tied under five tall gold wings. about an inch hangs from the bottom to just above her armpits, and it is angled down from the inside out.
She has dark teal eyes. When she is serious, they tend to carry an element of solemnity to them despite the rest of her expression. When she is happy, it touches her eyes but it is more evident in the rest of her expression. Her eyebrows are very accented and give her a very feminine expression.
When it comes to clothes, Ishizu will never be seen outside of a dress. The exact style varies, she tends to favor things that accent her form when she dresses up. Her casual outfits tend to be linen and free flowing. She wears simple slip on shoes when the climate allows, but no matter what the weather she would never be seen in heels. She does prefer clothes that hearken back to her Egyptian ethnicity.
Weapons
Ishizu doesn't carry any weapons in the traditional sense of them. She does have a deck of Duel Monsters cards. Due to the effects of the Island, she can manifest the monster spirits known as Ka and cast the spells from her Ba. She doesn't have a signature card, but she does run strategies around a certain type (Earth Fairy monsters).
Abilities/Powers
Ishizu can summon the Ka from her Duel Monsters cards and use the power of her Ba (life force) to cast spells and set traps. This is actually possible with all the cards from her homeworld. Like all the people from her homeworld, she has a "natural" Ka native to her soul. Her Ka is unusual in that at the time of her arrival on the Island, it does not have a representative within the Duel Monsters card game created by Industrial Illusions. Her Ka is an Egyptian angel-like being known as Spiria, a holdover from the main Ka she possessed in her past life.
Skills
Ishizu is panlingual. She is able to speak all the common languages spoken in Egypt. She can also speak fluent Japanese and is at a conversational level with common languages such as Spanish, French, and German. She is able to read, write, and speak Ancient Egyptian with near fluency as well due to her upbringing. She is an expert on Egyptian history and is fairly knowledgeable on middle-eastern history and better than most at north African history.
She is good at various administrative abilities and knowledgeable about most border laws, particularly in regards to artifacts and other such historical treasures.
Ishizu is also versed in some basic self-defense methods. It isn't anything extensive, but it does prevent her from being your average damsel in distress.
Personality
Ishizu is a kind and caring woman who tends to hide her pain via a veil of stoicism. She is one for doing what she feels needs to be done regardless of how much it hurts her. The more distant she seems, the more likely she is pained. As a result, her personality is similar to that of a quiet martyr. On the rare cases she truly stands up for her beliefs, she is not unknown for stepping aside if the person she is trying to protect pushes her aside. She won't be pushed around, and has a stronger will than her mannerisms seem to indicate.
She does understand that the future is not set in stone, but she is somewhat prone to giving up to despair. She doesn't often try to dissuade people from choices they have made, even if she fears they are in their worst interest.
History
Ishizu was the first born child to the hidden Ishtar clan, living in a network of crypts in an isolated area of Egyptian countryside. Her father was not greatly pleased with the situation, as tradition dictated it had to be a male child who would take on the burden of their family. When she was still quite young, a black baby was abandoned near where they lived and her mother rescued it. It was decided that in the absence of a male heir, the child they named Rishid would take the family's burden. Ishizu's father despised the child, but she loved him as a brother just like her mother loved him as a son.
When Ishizu's younger biological brother, Malik, was born, her mother died in childbirth. The father seemed almost indifferent to the demise of his wife. With Malik's birth, Rishid was delegated to dirt in the eyes of Ishizu's father. Ishizu swore to protect her two brothers. When Malik was taken to get the scars carved in his back to maintain the memory of the Nameless Pharaoh, Rishid vanished as well. Ishizu would only learn after things were said and done that Rishid had carved his face out of loyalty to their younger brother.
Malik began to pester Ishizu after he recovered from the carvings. She finally caved to his requests to see the outside world just once. The trip was only supposed to be an hour, but Ishizu found herself unable to take back Malik for how much fun he was having. The worry of their father's reaction finally got to her and she brought Malik back. When she opened the hidden doors to return home, she realized that their father had set up a safety feature to know when someone left... and the only person the man could take his anger out on was Rishid.
When Rishid collapsed from the way their father was whipping him, Rishid's emotional seal on the evil personality Malik had developed slipped. This "Dark Malik" took one of the the two Millennium Items his family guarded and used it to pin his father to the wall. When Ishizu tried to interfere, he held her against the wall as well, eventually knocking her out. When she came to, their father was dead. Malik had chosen to leave to seek vengeance on the Pharaoh for his responsibility in all this. Ishizu nearly gave in to grief, but she received a vision from the other treasure their family had guarded, the Millennium Torque... the Pharaoh would regain his memories, and Malik would have to die to be saved.
In dealing what she was sure was an unavoidable future, Ishizu left home and began taking the steps she would need to take to fulfill her family's duty. She managed to get one of the three god cards and positioned herself as a high ranking member of her country's artifact handling. She gave the card Obelisk to Seto Kaiba as her visions had dictated that was necessary to get the god cards to the Nameless Pharaoh. With the power of the Torque she was able to easily pass through the preliminaries of the Battle City tournament that Kaiba had set up.
When her visions are defied by being defeated by Kaiba on the Battle Ship, she gives the Torque to the Pharaoh's host, Yuugi Mutou, having come to realize it only predicts possible futures and she does not have to live by it. She asks the Pharaoh and Yuugi to save her brother, believing that if it is possible they can do it. Eventually they are able to do just that, and she returns to Egypt with her brothers to await the arrival of the Nameless Pharaoh to regain his memories.
The Ishtars guide Yuugi and his friends to the place where the tablet the Nameless Pharaoh can use to regain his memories resides. A short time later, they begin to climb up the stairs. Ishizu senses that the sudden earthquake should not be happening, and Malik rushes forward out of reflex. It looks as if a rock crushes him and traps the Pharaoh and his companions inside.
After a phase of understandable grief-stricken panic, Rishid takes her back to Cairo. There they run into Kaiba's younger brother, Mokuba as well as Yuugi's grandfather, Sugoroku, and one of his friends, Ryuuji.. Rishid has to explain what happened, and the younger Kaiba calls in favors and pulls strings. With help from KaibaCorp and Industrial Illusions, they manage to excavate the area only to find no trace of a single body. Mokuba is reported as having vanished along with the Millennium Torque.
Pegasus J. Crawford arrives in Egypt that night. Ishizu is worried sick about her brother just as Sugoroku is about his grandson. Ryuuji isn't in a much better place. Eventually, information is learned between Pegasus and Sugoroku that indicates they may be able to find answers at the place the Pharaoh had been supposed to go to. The Ishtars took the group there, and it wouldn't be long before Ishizu vanished...
Other
Didn't explain how Ishizu got to the Island, I'll figure it out when I intro her. I romanize her name as Ishizu as the katakana differs from the one used for her past life and in the anime is pronounced differently. Her past life sounds far more like Isis.
