(Continued from "Delightful Discovery"...)
The warp was almost split-second. He didn't even have time to open his eyes and see what it was like before he felt his feet hit the ground. The wood made a hollow, resounding clock! on the hard tile floor.
Looking up, his eyes had to adjust for a moment from the darkness of the inner Sun Temple to the brighter flouresent-lit halls of the... yes! They landed right inside the hospital! The entrance lobby laid out before him, nurses and doctors meandering about, some looking their way in mild confusion.
Although, considering that they had fallen in out of nowhere, no one seemed to be panicking. Weird.
Geno sighed, watching the ring behind him, hoping the other two would soon follow suit. His gaze occasionally wandered down to the girl he had almost forgotten he was holding in his arms, questions floating about in his head. Who was she? What'd she have to do with that strange man? What caused her to pass out? He tried to remember any hints, but he had been pretty preoccupied at the time with the inserting of power into his bosom.
Speaking of that, he cast a quick glance at the Fire symbol on his chest. Maybe I should cover that up...

The warp was instantaneous. As soon as he touched the portal, he noticed he was dropping. Unlike the marionette, his entrance was a hall sounding thud.
Byzantine's grasp of the world had came back to him, well, at least the physical properties. He does not have enough strength to use his legs upon his decent and fell face first into the white tiles of the hospital.
He looks at the girl, still in a trance, and the epicenter of her entranced effect. He has no idea what the wooden doll came for, where the wooden doll came from, and who the wooden doll is, for that mater. All he know is that the more he stayed with the marionette, the more intriguing his adventures are.
Then, there's the fact that he's about to black out.
Turning his attention to the doll, he said, "If you.... don't mind... when the blue rodent...," He really meant if. "... comes... Call a medic for two."
He then looks at Rhea, knowing that she probably does not even know what's going on. Knowing that it was in vain, he fainted.

The fianl member of the quartet jumped through right after, the ring shrinking behind him and shattering into fragments on entry. The blood was starting to cuagulate on his arms, but the bruses still stung his motion a bit. It was also a bit hard on his eyes, despite bing welcome to it.
"At least..." he choked out. "We aren't within range of that raging luna-" His knes bent and he stumbled, almost falling where he stood. "whoa, trippy..."

Geno looked up from his self-concsious concern and noted with relief as the two others appeared, the portal closing and ensuring that woman wouldn't follow. Thank the stars.
"Man... that got a little close for comfort, didn't it--eh?" The doll turned back to watch both Sonic and Byzantine collapse, in varied matters of weakness.
He paused for a moment, and then remembered where they were.
"...h-hey. Hey!" he began to call out to the nurses and doctors, who hopped up in surprise, and also seemed to remember where they were, as they hurried over. "We could use some help here!"
------------
"Ohhhhh, my! Mario, that is FAScinating!"
Further down the hallways, in a much less dire, but rather comfortable, situation, Peach sat behind her desk, engrossed in her dear friend's story. It was enough to finally see him again, but he had so much to share with her, and his tales were never dull.

Her eyes were blurry. Well, for that matter, every single word of that sentence had to be questioned. Was she a her, or anything, in fact? Was she seeing through eyes? The tense of any time had to be wondered about, it all seemed pretty new to her. And she couldn't even tell if this was normal vision, compared to blurriness.
As her eyes began to open wider, she took stock of her surroundings. The room was moderately warm, with a faint chill. Her body was in an awkward angle. She felt something hard holding her up by her back and her knees. A voice close to her was shouting. It sounded new and familiar at the same time. An odd smell wafted through the air. A dull throbbing punctuated her consciousness.
Now she began to think back to what she knew. It wasn't much. As far back as she could remember was, basically, when she began to open her eyes. That was it. She remembered nothing up to now. But her body didn't feel like hers. She held her own head up, shaking it lightly, and trying to speak. Her voice was caught in her throat.
"Wh..." she paused, wondering what question to ask. "Who am I?"
----
"Well, thank you, Princess," he said out of habit, even if she wasn't really a princess here. Here they were friends, and she was one of the doctors.
"It wasn't much, really. I hardly remember most of it, but what I do remember, I was made king of the Fuzzies." He looked slightly up, where most people kept their memories and tried to look at them. "Looking back on it, I thought it might have been one of Bowser's plots to occupy me while he caused havoc, but who knows?"

The doctors, once looking them over and deciding that yes, they needed treatment, began to bustle about, fetching stretchers and loading Byzantine and Sonic onto them and down the hall. Geno stood back and let the professionals work, when the girl in his arms began to awaken, catching his attention. She looked to be stuck in a dreary trance, mumbling uncertain words to no one in particular.
"Um... excuse me?" the star spirit called out to the nearest doctor before he could dart away. "I think we need one more...something's wrong with her."
---------------
Peach shrugged. "I haven't seen Bowser lately, or heard of any exploits he would have done. I shudder to think if any higher powers were at work, bigger then him even...!"
But before she had a chance to break the fourth wall, one of the nurses slid the glass door open rather suddenly and loudly, spooking the two of them. "Doctor! We have three ER patients coming in, one severely injured, one one with an extreme case of exhaustion, and another... well, you'll have to see for yourself."
"Oh, dear...!"

"Her?" she replied. That confirmed one point. She was a woman. "I'm a her?" She tried to sit up in the arms that held her, not very easy. She saw slender legs, a thin body, and fabric clearly not designed for battle, or sleep, or any other function she could think of. It was thin, and mildly elastic-feeling, from the stretched tightness on her skin.
She looked around at her immediate surroundings. Every sense took in information. The sounds of machinery and electronics. Beeps, whirrs, hums. An artificial... stench hung in the air. It smelled sickeningly clean. The air was kept cool, and the feeling of a downward breeze played across her skin. The color scheme of the room was white and sleek. A faint trace of some unidentified chemical lay in the taste of the air.
This was either some unnamed hell, or, more likely.... what was the word. All of her memories, what fractured amounts there were to be unearthed were difficult to organize. Hos... hus... Hospi-something. Hospital? An earth hospital? Why was she here? Was she just born?
A feeling occurred to her. This body she inhabited. It didn't seem to be her own. She was in an alien world, in an alien body, with no idea how she got there.
This should be an interesting challenge, she thought.
--------------------
Mario almost jumped out of his seat when the door noisily opened. He turned towards the source, remembering all of a sudden that Peach had a job to do. Well, he couldn't just let her go and do something by herself without offering to help. That was the gentlemanly thing to do. And he had some medical knowledge.
"Princess, please, allow me to help you," he said, standing up, already motioning toward the door, allowing her to go first. "This sounds very serious."

Geno was beginning to grow concerned. Was it amnesia? Some weird delusional condition? Did the desert sun cook her brains?
Either way, when the third stretcher rolled in, he placed her atop it carefully. "Easy now, these people'll take care of you, alright?"
He told himself earlier that he would stay in the lobby and wait, but... something was telling him he should follow. Sonic was his partner after all, and perhaps Byzantine would be too after a little explanation... but the strange girl was... he felt something similar from her. Something important that he couldn't identify.
So he bustled along beside the doctors as they pushed the stretchers along down the hall. And coming the opposite way...
"Oh, absolutely, Mario!" Peach agreed as they followed the nurse to meet them all halfway.

She didn't feel like "Easy now," she felt like "Answers now, please." So she got right up off the stretcher, standing up and facing the thing which had been carrying her.
"Listen here, you--" Her sentence was cut short immediately. Something about the thing was strange! Not just the fact he seemed to be made of wood, even. He seemed...
"You! You you you!" His name was coming to her. "You are ♥♪!?, yes? Star Guardian ♥♪!?, correct? It is an honor to see you again, sir." She looked around the room. "I take it we are undercover on assignment?" If they were, she would have just blown it.
Mario rushed with Peach right to the patients who were still unconscious, making sure the Princess had everything she needed, before walking over to the blonde girl.
"Miss, you need to relax," he said, walking right past Geno, seemingly not noticing him. His red and blue attire would jog anyone's memory.

Geno, along with the doctors, of course, grew real concerned by now when the girl got up, seemingly unharmed when she was unconscious not a moment ago. But the star spirit still would have been surprised that not more doctors were trying to urge her back on, being calmed down by another doctor, obviously the one in charge. But he didn't have a chance to recognize her before the girl spoke up again, and he was REAL surprised.
Geno stood rigid, staring at this girl in a completely new light. "What... did you call me...?" No one else down in this or any other lower realm knew his true name, much less could say it right. No one.
But before he would even have the chance to even consider this, the only one who would make an effort to calm her down would be the biggest surprise of all.[/b]
Geno was speechless. After so many years apart, there stood their world's champion, the hero himself, his most trusted friend.
"M...Ma...Mario...?"

"Relax??" she said, ignoring the doctors' attempts to lay her back down. "How can I rela--" She turned toward him. It was the hero. The Savior of the Stars, Mario.
Her words mimicked Geno's.
"M... Ma... Mario?"
Mario heard his name spoken not only from in front of him, but behind him as well. Who else could be there? He turned around and saw a face he hadn't seen in years. "Geno? Is that.. you?"

To be truthful, Geno was half-excited, half-terrified to finally find him again. Of course he was naturally eager to see his dear old friend again, to fight by his side as they did many years before. And yet...after all this time...
He almost expected Mario to forget about him. He wasn't sure if he was ready to face that.
But to see his cheerfully round face, to hear his earth-given name with that Italian curl to his words, sprouted all the memories of ventures long past. And that hidden anxiety evaporated in a matter of seconds.
"M-Mario... Stars above~!" He couldn't help it. He may have been embarrassed later about the leaping hug he gave to the plumber, but it had just been far, far too long. "I-I thought I'd never see you again...!"

Mario was a little bit surprised when Geno leapt into his arms (thank the stars he wasn't very heavy), and managed to hold him up, returning the hug.
"Oof! I know it's been a few years..." He carefully set Geno down. "How have you been, Geno?"
The girl continued to watch the two. The great ♥♪!? knew Mario? And evidently he'd taken on a new name while he had been on Earth. Then perhaps it was time to adopt a name as well.
"May I ask one question?" She looked around, hoping someone had the answer. "What is my name? That is all I need." Whatever answer she was given, she would stick with, forever. Hopefully one of the people around here knew the name of the body she evidently inhabited.

"Ahhhh..." Geno sheepishly rubbed the back of his wooden head. "Long story... I've been on this island for a while now, you have no idea what I've been through...!"
Before he could elaborate, the strange girl, whom once again he almost forgot all about, spoke up again. He never remembered a time when her name had ever been brought up before she passed out, but somehow, Geno was able to answer her question with little to no hesitation.
"...Leila," he replied after a beat. "Your name's... Leila." If he hadn't heard it, where had it come from? Must have been something innate. Or he DID hear it and just not remember. Either way.

Leila?
"... I... will accept the name with honor, Guardian ♥♪!?." She still habitually used his birth name, and not his adopted name. But from now on... she would be called Leila.
Mario almost asked Geno to reminisce about all the things they'd missed out on about each other, but this Leila girl - which weirded him out that Geno seemed to pull the name out of nowhere - reminded him that they were in a hospital. "Oh! The others!" He turned to the other unconscious fellows, one of whom appeared to be a villain, and one appeared...... kind of vaguely like another old rival-turned-friend.
"This day just keeps getting more and more weird, doesn't it?" he said as he went over to help Peach and the doctors.
