Elwood walked on in frustrated silence beside Trevor until the reached the woods just outside the arena. The dull roar of the crowd within dwindled, and it gave him a chance to think a bit longer.
He was so used to giving advice; what would he tell someone in his situation? Well, he'd tell them to man up and get out his feelings, of course. That was the healthy way to go, and if Trevor rejected him, so it goes. But was it really right, to do so now? When Trevor seemed at his most vulnerable?
But... maybe it would help Trevor too, in the end. He would be looking for a passive way out of the pain... maybe Elwood could give it to him.
"...what," he started smally. "...would you say... if I told you I've been... crushing on someone too...?"

Trevor heard Elwood speak. He sounded so meek at this point that the swordsmen couldn't help but frown... at least, up until the tranny finished his speech at which point his smile came back to his face and he actually looked a little rejuvinated. "Why I think that's wonderful. It's so nice to know you're looking at someone, Elly, especially during these troubled times. I envy the lucky lady... or fellow. Can't assume, now can I?" he chuckled lightly as he said that, almost as if he thought he made some clever joke.
Then he stopped softly and he looked mischievious. "Oh Elly. You were going to tell me who this person was, weren't you? I must say my curiosity is now heavily piqued." Anyone who knew Trevor knew that when he got curious, he would do anything to learn what it was he was curious about, anything short of forceful interrogation that was. He'd eavesdrop, bribe, chat, persuade, anything he could short of violence to learn what he wanted to know. He especially wouldn't use such evil method against Elly.

Elwood's face was almost as red as his hair. Well, just great. There was no turning back now, not with Trevor so intent on getting a name out from him. And there was no way he'd be able to get himself to lie, either.
Oh well. He might as well be a man about it. He gulped smally, straightened up, and looked the swordsman square in the eyes.
"You."

Trevor's inquisitiveness had been rewarded with an honest answer, so he ought to have been jumping with joy. But the answer took him aback, and not in the bad way either. He wasn't looking disgusted or apalled by the idea that his best friend was crushing on him, obvious reasons abiding. Rather, he was trying to hide his blush behind his hand that came up to his face, but he was doing a rather poor job at it. One couldn't distract themselves out of this, but it'd be rude to do so otherwise. Besides, Elwood had just confessed to him something that took lots of people their entire heart and soul to confess. He couldn't ruin that, but...
He hadn't even considered it, a relationship with the tranny. Both of them had traits they admired about each other. But Trevor didn't know how to respond. Under normal circumstances, he might've offered Elwood to dinner or something of the like, get to know the tranny even better then he already did. Maybe something could've happened there. But as he was, Trevor didn't know if he ought to bother Elwood with his presence. He wanted to throw his troubles away, not thrust them onto Elwood. Truely, a rare moment in the swordsman's life, but not unheard of, he found himself speachless. "I... see..."

'I see?' What on earth was Elwood supposed to get out of that? He had a moment of panic, but waited for himself to calm down and think again. Okay. Obviously this was going to take a moment of Trevor to take in. Maybe they were sharing thoughts on how appropiate this would be, given the circumstances at home. Maybe it would be best to appeal to that, for both of their sakes.
"I... know this is a weird time to admit it," he choked out, trying to steel himself back up. "But... Trevor, I hate seeing you do this to yourself. I want to help you. Because I care about you. And I think.. this way would be... better."

The tranny was panicking at first. Trevor knew. He also knew he was to blame. Two words was all he had offered and they were ambiguous in nature, but what else could he say? He didn't want to decline Elwood, but the timing just seemed off. Of course Elwood must've had his reasons because he was not one to act on sporadic, instinctive actions. It just wasn't like the tranny. Trevor opened his mouth to ask why when Elwood caught him off with the answers to the questions he was about to ask.
Now he confused Trevor, but the thought still stood. Did Elwood really love him and crush on him persay, or was he just worried about Trevor's health as any friend would? Still, either way, there was one word Trevor could use. "That's so... sweet of you." He didn't know what else to say, but he pushed himself to speak further, blushing almost as red as Elly's hair himself. "To be honest, I... I had never considered the possibility... I guess I was blind to it, singlesighted in my own affections. I... am not opposed... however, I am worried that... I might feel like I was taking advantage of you... something I wouldn't want to do even now."

Elwood listened, then shook his head. "No, no, Trevor, I... I know. I know this seems like a real bad time, but... but I mean, why did I always spend the most time with you back at Skylark Manor? Why do you think I went out of my way to look for you, back then and right now? This isn't just because I'm worried about you, I... I lo..."
The word got stuck in his throat. He couldn't get it out. Oh, he hoped to god Trevor would understand...

Trevor hoped that Elwood wouldn't worry after he had spoken his mind, but it only caused the tranny more panic, it seemed, as he began to go on about how he wasn't just worried about Trevor. From the beginning, when they first became the greatest of friends in Skylark Manor, to their times in the Dimensional Isles. Trevor found himself wondering just how long this crush of Elwood's stretched for. Did it happen the first time they met? Was Trevor just that stupid? But then Elwood nearly said the three words that would've solidified it. And even though he fell short, Trevor was not that stupid. He knew what Elwood was about to say and found himself blushing more.
"Elwood..." He searched for the words, but none of them seemed right. What would the best moment be? Edd's dissapearence still hurt, but he had to question himself... would he pass him this opportunity over his emotions for a boy that he had been unable to win over, that he would never be able to win over? That was simply illogical, but... logic was useless in love. However, as he looked at Elwood, he found himself noticing things he hadn't seen before. The tranny's demeanor, his stance, his eyes... oh dear lord, he couldn't, yet he knew he was looking through those ruby-colored spectacles.
"Elwood, what if..." He sighed, putting a hand behind his head, uncertain of what he was going to say, but ended up getting something out anyway. "What if I said that... I... um..." He sighed and looked at the tranny straight. "Elly... I love you... but I'm not sure I can be good for you right now. I know you're worried about me and I know you want to help me... but I can't let myself hurt you the same way... I just... couldn't bear to do something like that to you..."

It was a logical reasoning. If Trevor didn't feel like he was ready, Elwood should back down. Try again later, when Trevor was more at peace with himself.
But wait... wasn't THIS going to put him at peace??
"Not goo--Trevor, what're you talking about?" Elwood gaped slightly. "Trevor, I know you better than that. If you haven't even brought yourself to hurt King, why would you hurt ME?"
He brought his hands out to rest on Trevor's shoulders. "Trev... quit shutting me out. Please."

Trevor had hoped Elwood would understand. But not only did Elwood understand, but he understood it well enough to turn the tables on him. Trevor was afraid he'd hurt Elwood, who had always been on his side from the very beginning. But that was impossible. If he wouldn't even hurt King, who was at fault for all the drama that had occured, who was being blamed for his actions taken again the Felix who had somehow come back from the past, then how was it even conceivable that he would dare to hurt his beloved friend, who had done everything he could for emerald-haired swordsman?
Trevor felt Elwood's hands on his shoulder and his body began to heat up. Instinctively his hands came onto Elwood's sides, but he found himself blushing at the sudden embrace. The two stood like that for a while in complete silence. Trevor found he had to break the ice with something, anything, just so long as this silence was stopped. "Elly... h-how long have you felt this way about me?" He had to know. It seemed wrong to see Elly as nothing more as a friend and have crushed on Edd for so long and even Fletcher before him when the tranny had eyes for Trevor even back at Skylark Manor.

Elwood tensed up a bit nervously at the gentle touch to his waist, trying so hard not to freak out. He had no experience in such intimate dealings before; he started by answering Trevor's question. "Suh... since Skylark Manor. Way back when. But, you were all flirty back then, more with the ladies, so I figured it was a lost cause..."
Elwood thought back to that. Was this really happening? After all that time of being within reach of the unreachable?

He sighed softly. Poor Elwood. He had no idea of the boy's feelings back then. If he had known, maybe things would've happened sooner. Maybe he wouldn't find himself aching over a boy he never had a chance with. He was a flirt back then, he knew. He did it because he thought himself God's gift to men and women everywhere. Or at least he let himself be viewed as the kind of man who would think that way. He wanted people to laugh at him so that they had something to laugh at and be happy about as opposed to depressed and angry all the time. He had no idea Elwood had thought him unobtainable and ready to snatch up due to it.
"Elly..." Trevor felt like he could feel the boy's inner embarassment and fear. Elwood had never been in this position before, had he? Neither had the emerald haired boy. He was the one who was teased, pushed to the side. He was still a virgin, even though he seemed like the type of guy who'd have gotten laid ages ago. But someone had to take command of the situation at hand and the tranny seemed shaken up. So was Trevor, but what would he do if he couldn't get things under control? "Um... forgive me." It seemed like he was about to say something bad due to that. Then he gave Elwood a soft peck on the lips in the usual Trevor-esque non-subtle manner.

Geez. All was just, instantly forgiven. No questions asked. Elwood felt a sort of delightful tingle at that soft, but such meaningful contact. Was that how it was supposed to feel? He had sort of closed himself off from anything intimate, so this was all completely new to him.
Either way... he liked it. He liked it a lot.
Drawing back, he glanced up at Trevor, caught in his golden stare. He gulped, managed a meek smile, and leaned in to embrace him a bit more fully.

Trevor was worried at first that he might've gone too far. The boy, while having admitted his crush on the swordsman, had not shown a desire for such an event. However, he knew all was forgiven when Elwood chose to embrace him further. He smiled softly and let the boy closer. So this was the love he had missed for years. It was so soothing and relaxing, and none of it felt like a farce. Trevor could tell Elwood wasn't faking this just to help the emerald-haired swordsman come to these feelings. It felt natural and honest, a real sensation, not forged or faked for personal gain. He had known such things with Dederick, though they had never touched, and he had thought it was love. Then, of course, they were seperated... and then the betrayal. That day was horrible too.
But none of that mattered now. All that mattered was this feeling. This natural, loving warmth that came from Elwood. It was perfect.

Man... is this what he had been missing out on all these years? No wonder everyone around him seemed to stress about it while he went along his work. It was a wonderous sensation that was worth the trouble! All of the sudden he didn't regret this trip to the arena, didn't regret gushing out his feelings, even though he was terrified to do so not a few moments ago. That seemed like ancient history now.
He stayed in that warm circle of an embrace for who knew how long, soaking in the feeling.
