Takahashi couldn't believe what he was hearing. She was seriously using that excuse, and he couldn't call her out for it because he'd be an insensitive jerk. He noted that Adachi seemed to be rather uncomfortable with the situation, which, knowing the man, meant he was probably getting so frustrated that he was about to just start blowing heads off. It was a good thing Adachi got his gun rights revoked in that case.
"And before then?" Takahashi pressed.
"It's really just a big misunderstanding--" Adachi tried to cut in, but Takahashi cut him off with a vague gesture.
"You've been glowering at each other ever since before New Years. That's way longer than for that."
Adachi grumbled to himself. Takahashi knew enough about his past and present transgressions, far more than Adachi liked. He rather wished that Takahashi would do him a favor and shut the hell up. Even without a gun it would be far too easy to remove him now, after all...

"Way longer?!" Chisaki's mouth fell open as if she couldn't believe her ears. She lifted up a hand and held up three fingers, "Adachi hasn't been back for more than three days! Three days!"
She waved her hands in the air, "Oh no! Alert the presses! Chisaki's having a normal time of the month!"
She took her hand down and pointed it at Takahashi's chest, actually pressing the tip of it against it, "I'm the only woman on staff here, and we both know it. Do you really want to tell HQ that you think something's up because she's a little moody?"
Actually it was kind of over the top for Chisaki. Then again, people tended to give her a wide berth... for all Takahashi knew, this was normal if you cornered her during that time.

"H-Hey, let's not fight..."
Adachi's words went unheard as Takahashi proceeded to get rather heated with Chisaki in return. "Oh, so you're going to use a little hormones and some blood as your excuse why you can't act like a decent person. That's rich, Chisaki."
Of course, this was probably normal for her during that time. Takahashi had never understood why women would act this way for a week straight every month. They always said shit like "hormones" and "cramps", but Takahashi couldn't see what was so bad about it. Women had to be real wimps if they were letting cramps get them down.
Adachi decided that he was not going to stay here in the middle of the battlefield and began to make his way toward the door. Unfortunately, Takahashi managed to catch him in the corner of his eye. "Where the hell do you think you're going?"
"E-Eh? Well, I've got stuff to do and... sorry sir!" Adachi then decided to not give Takahashi the chance to stop him and ran out the room. He stopped next to Naoki, who was turned away from him. Adachi cleared his throat.
"Ahem... don't worry citizen, we've got things all under control in there." Naoki didn't look toward Adachi after his show of bravado. Well, it didn't work on all people.

Chisaki pulled her finger back and had her mouth open to snap back to Takahashi's rebuttal when Adachi spoke up. She grimaced and looked towards him only for him to skirt dangerously close to both her and Takahashi. She almost tripped over her own leg stumbling to the side. And then he was out the door and she was left to look back at Takahashi with no illusions about him having seen her dart.
Her eyes flicked towards the window, she narrowed them, and then she looked back at Takahashi. She looked like she was about to rip him a new one and then waved her hand at him,
"It's nothing, alright?" She lifted her hands and made quotation marks, "Call it a 'Personality Conflict' if you want to make a big fancy report about it."
She turned around and walked towards the table set up in the room, speaking as she walked, "Buy the kid that lunch you promised him, I doubt he's going to make waves. Do I have a problem with Adachi? Sure, but it's nothing you'd understand. I'm not going to waste station resources, alright?"
She turned back around and sat down in a chair. She glared up at Takahashi as if informing him the conversation was done.
Oh yeah, she was definitely not saying something. And it definitely had to do with Adachi.

The teenager continued to ignore Adachi. Well, whatever. He'd rather not deal with anymore weird teenagers if he could avoid it anyways. It was just as Adachi turned to walk away that the teenager moved at a blinding speed and grabbed Adachi by his tie. A choked sound escaped Adachi, and he looked down at the teenager.
"H-Hey--"
"Adachi Tohru."
The tone of voice was completely different, and the teenager's face lacked any kind of emotion. It was also very quiet. You would have to be as close as Adachi was to Naoki now to be able to hear it. Adachi had dealt with too many supernatural demon types lately to not know what this was. So it had been a set up all along... he'd thought it was odd someone had brought a notepad like the one the teenager had.
"You have forgotten the terms of your contract, Adachi-san." The kid was definitely not human. There was something nagging at the back of his mind, something sitting on the edge of his vision. Whenever he tried to look that way, it would fade, but if he didn't concentrate on it, the glamor fell, and he could see the demon underneath.
"And what makes you say that?"
"You hold rebellion in your mind, and have since the very day you came under contract." There was not even the slightest flicker of emotion. It gave Adachi the sensation he was talking to a corpse. "My master normally encourages rebellion, but you have balked him for far too long."
"So he likes rebellion so long as it doesn't directly effect his dogs. Typical hypocrisy."
"Your death means very little to my master. You should watch where you step, Adachi Tohru."
-------------------
Nothing he'd understand? Takahashi knew a lot more than Chisaki though he knew. Of course she wouldn't know that he knew about Adachi's past. So not only was Chisaki bald-faced lying to him with her little "It's nothing" but Adachi had done something to her that was major enough that she was freaking out a little about it.
"Nah, I'm pretty sure I do understand," Takahashi said. "Why do you think I was trying to get him booted off to jail not that long ago? I ain't stupid."

(OOC: UH, LOTS OF CUSSING WARNING.
FF, I should have said this while you were on - but knowing this may help with your next post. Lucifer encourages rebellion if you back it up. He actually even supports it in the form of sneaking, backstabbing, and subterfuge providing you're good enough at it to not get caught. Due to Adachi's position, the only option for rebellion he has is direct confrontation because Lucifer knows his every move and whatnot.
He's also got no problem with rising in rank by slitting the throat of those equal or above you and would probably consider Adachi more useful/in line with his servitude if he were to attempt to catch Lucifer's eye like that. XD Talk is cheap, basically.)
Chisaki's eyes were half closed and her head was angled down as she fixed a new glare on Takahashi. So the man knew he was a bastard. Big woop. She was convinced that most of what Takahashi had been saying lately about the man was right, the stuff that got him put on leave for a while due to "stress", but it didn't mean he'd understand.
"Sure you do," Chisaki said after a moment. She'd obviously been thinking about how she was going to word what she wanted to say. She stood up and placed her palms flat on the table and leaned forward, "But you don't understand, and unlike you I'm not going to start flinging accusations with no ability to back them up. You want the rat bastard behind bars? Well I wouldn't object to seeing him fucking dead."
It was actually a bit calmer than usual for her. The glare she had wasn't aimed at Takahashi anymore, either. She turned her head towards the window to the room and noted both heads were no longer visible throgh it. She let out a thin breath of air, a combination of sigh and "tch". She turned her attention back to Takahashi and pushed herself into a straight position, crossing her arms once she was up.
"You said he tried to kill you a while back, didn't you? Yeah, big fucking deal. How about you get back to me when you actually can get his ass arrested, or better yet, shot in the god damned balls."

Adachi wished this kind would let go of his tie already. The tie had been pulling tighter and tighter by the moment, and it was starting to get painful. He reached his hand up to pull it loose. With blinding speed, the kid reached his other hand out and grabbed Adachi's wrist. The speed combined with his strength meant that Adachi could feel the bones in his wrist grind together, and he winced.
"Clearly I'm important enough to him that he'd send some oh-so-powerful demon servant just to teach me a lesson," Adachi taunted. "Then tell me. What does he want me to do."
"Capitulate. If you're so dedicated to escaping, the path to freedom may lie elsewhere. There are others crowding your paths, though. You'd have to remove them first."
Adachi smirked. So this demon was encouraging him in no subtle terms to murder any others in servitude if he wanted to escape. Well, he had to credit the kid on one thing: he seemed honest enough. Of course, he'd take everything he was saying with a grain of salt. This was a demon he was talking to.
Naoki released Adachi's tie and wrist, allowing him to breathe again. The older man loosened the tie once Naoki released his wrist. Adachi frowned at him.
"What? No other warnings? Nothing? Just that?"
"I'll be back if I see no change, Adachi-san."
Adachi suddenly shuddered, and looked away from Naoki. Christ, that kid was unnerving. He looked back toward him to speak, and found that the kid was gone, like he'd never been there. Adachi shuddered again, and turned to walk down the hallway. Well, that had been a completely normal experience. He'd rather forget that had ever happened.
-----------------------
It was definitely not just that Adachi had tried to kill her. Takahashi was sure of that from Chisaki's reactions. Something else, something big had happened between them. He thought back to what he'd managed to work out of Adachi when he'd first found him. Was this like those women he'd killed? Naaah. Couldn't be possible. But there was always that possibility...
"Well, what the hell did he do to you?" Takahashi growled. "You're a goddamn victim, aren't you? That means you're practically walking evidence. If you want him behind bars or dead all you'd have to do is speak up, wouldn't ya?"

(OOC: HOW TO MAKE YOUR FELLOW RPER HAVE TO LOOK UP A WORD IN THE DICTIONARY. Okay, good job FF. I tip my hat to you for that. XD It was capitulate if you wanna brag. XD
Also Adachi should totally decide to report the kid vanished =D)
Chisaki opened her mouth to tell Takahashi off at his initial question, and cut him off in the process, when Takahashi accused her of being a victim. Her eyes widened half a moment and she winced as if she'd been struck, and then she was back to looking pissed. It was actually quick enough a lot of people would have missed it. For all their faults though, none of the detectives at this station were "a lot of people". Takahashi would notice it.
"Oh yes, thats' a great idea. After I fucking lied about my interview with him, let's tell the whole station about how he..." she paused, and quickly backtracked to a different way of saying things. It was about as subtle as a truck hitting you in the chest, "And with what proof? And don't give me your god damned 'I reported him earlier' bullshit. You were fucking ranting about televisions for a while there."
She paused and it was clear she'd suddenly realized something. About half of her anger gave way to confusion, "What the hell was up with that, anyways? I think everyone passed your gibberish off as stress, but I definitely remember you mentioning televisions. You never expanded on that, and I don't think you even meant to say it in the first place. What the hell does Adachi trying to kill you have to do with televisions?"
It was kind of impressive how smoothly she'd managed to divert the topic of conversation away from herself, actually. It wasn't an uncommon tactic from the smarter arrested folk when interrogations got too close to home, whatever home was...

He'd managed to catch her with the "victim" description, her facial expression shifting just enough in that half of a second to show he'd gotten through to her. She backtracked in her statement too, changing the subject the moment she realized she was getting close to talking about whatever she wanted to talk about. In fact, she'd quite well managed to divert the topic away, but it still pointed to the fact that she was very definitely hiding something.
Of course, then the subject switched to televisions. Her questions told him that Adachi hadn't pulled his little televisions trick on her, meaning she wouldn't understand shit about the televisions thing. Hell, he didn't even know if she knew about his "special power".
"A whole lot, actually," Takahashi said gruffly. "Since you're asking, that means he didn't try to kill you. So what did he do to you? Try to get a leg over on you or something like that?" Takahashi had no idea just how close he was to the truth with that.

Chisaki gave Takahashi a less than believing look as he said that Adachi's attempted murder had a whole lot to do with televisions. Given what she'd seen the man was capable of already, she had a feeling it wasn't as simple as attempting to bludgeon Takahashi to death with one. Her glare somehow reached new proportions when Takahashi said he hadn't tried to kill her.
She wasn't even aware as her hand fell to her gut. There was a scar underneath her shirt, and her finger was about to trace it when Takahashi asked what he did to her... and then hit the nail. Maybe not on the head, but close enough. Her entire body locked up at the question and then she was sitting down, and not lightly. She looked stunned for a moment and was staring in Takahashi's direction, but not really seeing him.
"What would... I mean, why would you...?" she blinked and shook her head, raising a hand to her forehead. And then the anger returned,"You know what, sure. Why the fuck not?" Her voice was acid, "You want me to say it? Adachi-"
(OOC: Cut off for your plans. XD)

Takahashi narrowed his eyes as Chisaki's hand fell to her stomach. No, he was wrong. Adachi had tried to kill her. But that wasn't the only thing. She fell back into a sitting position when he suggested that Adachi had tried to rape her. That was it, then. Adachi had tried to rape her, and when that had failed, he'd tried to kill her.
Just as Chisaki began to explain, the door to the evidence room swung open.
"Agh, where did that kid go... this place isn't that big, he couldn't have gone far--" Adachi paused when he saw Chisaki and Takahashi, like he just realized they were there. "Oh. Uh, I'm not interrupting anything am I?"

Chisaki was out of her seat and several steps back in about half a second. She only seemed to stop because her back hit the wall. Then she was falling back into a glare, that high level of venom that seemed lately to be reserved for just Adachi. She brushed a bit of something off her shoulder that had come off the wall when she hit it and walked around the table and towards the door. She stopped next to Takahashi, about three steps from the doorway Adachi was blocking.
"We were just talking," she lied. She put her hands on her hips, "You do know its technically lunch break, right? I don't know what you two idiots intend on doing, but I'm not going to waste any more of mine. Move."

Adachi looked away with a somewhat guilty look as Chisaki backed away from him and made her way toward the door. She brought up that it was lunch break and then ordered him to move out of the way of the door. He looked back at the door, then toward Chisaki, and then jerked out of the way.
"S-Sorry..." Adachi said. He turned to Takahashi. "Uh... it was lunch break?"
"You're a dumbass, Adachi."

Chisaki frowned at him for a moment, her apparent hatred laced with something else. The something else was gone as she whipped her head towards Takahashi, and the hatred fell to her usual scowl.
"I'd better not hear about this getting passed off like most of his idiocy, Takahashi. He did get that kid to pull that prank, after all," Chisaki said. There was something about her stance and tone of voice that would indicate there was a hidden jab in there meant for Adachi. He'd notice it, but Takahashi might not. Adachi would know she knew the full extent of the situation, "Now if you two will excuse me."
There was nothing polite with how she followed it up. She walked out the doorway Adachi had cleared, hugging the side of it furthest from Adachi more than was strictly necessary. There was a bit of a rush to her step after she cleared the doorway as well, leaving the two men behind when she turned the corner.
