Personality
Shining Armor could be the poster boy for the 'Cool Big Brother.' Everything from his accent to personality paint him as laid-back and caring. He's also fiercely protective of those close to him.
History
Shining Armor grew up with his sister Twilight Sparkle in Canterlot, with him being pretty much her only friend while growing up. He joined the guard a few years after Twilight became Celestia's student, rising the ranks to Captain of the Guard within several more years. During this time, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, though he knew her better as Cadence, often foalsat Twilight; he and she began to know each other better. Unfortunately, due to his duties fighting with the forces, he wasn't able to appear at a lot of his sister's important events such as when she moved to Ponyville, nor was he able to keep regularly in touch with his family; he still greatly regrets his absences.
Then, he and Cadence began seeing each other more often... this culminated into a relationship that lead to their wedding. Their powerful love for each other brought about the defeat of the Changeling Queen, Chrysalis, and the two newlyweds rode off in a carriage together.
Time would pass, and the incidences with the Twilight Hammer cultists would plague Ponyville. Then, Twilight and her remaining friends who hadn't vanished would leave. Shining Armor was worried sick about his little sister, and after several weeks of little word and the letter from the human's words ringing in his mind, Shining couldn't take it anymore and begged Celestia to let him go and help his sister. The Princess kindly let Shining go to the Island.
