The stallion's mind was too exhausted and frightened to really care about what he was doing; he bawled loudly, tears flowing freely down his cheeks, holding his sister tight, never wanting to let go of her.
Alice's eyes had shot wide open... though she did collect herself afterward. She walked over to the bed's foot and knelt down by the basket, speaking to Spike. "Pardon me, Spike... but I feel we should let them have a moment alone... I need to speak with you, anyway, regarding what happened at the mall."

The young dragon cast a glance the two pony siblings' way before nodding hesitantly and following Alice. The brother and sister were going to need their alone time for now.
"So where's Michael and Marisa?" he asked her in a low tone, so as not to disturb Twilight and Shining. "Did they...make it out OK...?"

With Twilight and Shining, the two held each other close, crying in each others arms... Or forelegs in this case. Twilight was almost sure she was going to start bawling very soon, if not just because she hated seeing her BBBFF in the sorry state he was in. Even as a little filly when the two dreamed big (Twilight to be a great magic user, and Shining to be a member of the Royal Guard), Twilight had had this picture in her head that Shining was strong, capable of tackling anything. That he was the stronger a wiser of the two of them...
What an awful way to learn differently...
Shining Armor was one her rocks, her pillars of moral support. But above all of that he was a sibling... Her older brother... And it just tore her apart to see him like this....

Eventually, the stallion's crying would stop. "...I'm... so glad you're okay..." He never let go of Twilight, though, as if he was afraid she'd disappear on him if he did. His breaths were still shaky, but he wasn't sobbing anymore. "I...I dunno what I'd do without you, Twiley..."
Alice, meanwhile, said to Spike (after they'd gotten to the living room), "Do not worry. They're alright. They're just resting right now, to recover from their injuries. What I wished to talk to you about was what you did to help defeat that monster, Exdeath."

Spike nearly jumped when Alice said what it sounded like she said. What he did? What he did?!
The young dragon shook his head in confusion. "What are you talking about? I didn't do anything... I couldn't have done anything..." He scratched the scales on his head in confusion. "It was mostly that wizard guy fighting him, right... Except Shining...did something...himself..." He hesitated making that awkward point, as he still found that moment incredibly creepy.

As the bunch continued talking outside, Twilight was crying herself as she held onto her brother tightly. "I'm..." She couldn't help it, she was sad. For herself, for her brother for her friends...
And...
"I'm just sorry I couldn't be more help..."
And she blamed herself for a lot of what happened. "I... I tried! I really tried to help... But in the end, I... I couldn't do anything to him!" She was sobbing a bit. "I... If only I was stronger... You wouldn't have had to suffer through what you suffered through... I... I-..!"
She broke down. This was her fault. Even if she wasn't strong enough... She was the one that had to go back for that stupid book...

Her brother held her tightly, the stallion still crying himself. "T-Twiley... He...He was too strong for me, too... only way I could've stopped him... was..." He gagged a little. "...that... I'm just glad you're safe..."
Alice, meanwhile, shook her head. "From what Michael told me, you managed to stun Exdeath long enough for that wizard you met to recover and send him flying far away... what's more... you used a Spellcard to do so."

"A Spellcard?" Spike stood there confused. His mind wandered back to the lessons Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy had been taking for a certain special kind of magic; Rainbow had been learning more offensive while Fluttershy was specializing more in supportive and healing.
He tilted his head and waved his hand as he tried to clarify. "You mean...like that 'danmaku' stuff? But...I thought Michael said I was too young to learn any of that..."

She sniffled in her brother's arms, holding him tightly. "M.... Me too... B-but still Shining... I... I thought I would be prepared for this... I had studied so much about magic here. I practiced so much... And it wasn't enough..."
She sniffled. "We weren't ready for him... But... I-!" Twilight was pretty much breaking down by this point. "I thought I would be, but I wasn't~! If Spike hadn't helped, and if that wizard hadn't been there, we wouldn't be here right now..." As she said that, her mind went back to that book he had...
That book...
"Sh-Shining?" She took a deep breath.... "I... I promise... I promise that... That the next time something like that happens... I'll be ready for it. Not just for my sake, but for yours and my friends sakes. I promise that I'm going to become stronger..."

"I...I will, too. I can't lose you, lil' sis... I... I just can't." He continued to embrace his sister, finally calming down a bit.
Alice nodded. "You're partially right. Marisa did say that you were young; you're a lot younger than most when they begin to develop their chi pathways which is the typical means of using danmaku. However! You are a dragon, not a human or youkai; that may have something to do with it. You should have your Spellcard somewhere, provided it's had ample cool down time."

The hatchling felt around on his person a bit as if a card were to suddenly show up on his body. He then shrugged, explaining, "I don't even know what happened... One minute, Exdeath had that wizard and pretty much everyone else was knocked out, the next I'm sleeping in a basket next to a stallion having a bad night's rest."

The two equines remained in each other's embrace for a long long moment before they finally seperated. Twilight herself appeared to have calmed down a little herself. "Don't worry about me me BBBFF... I'll be fine." She nuzzles him a second. "You just be sure to look after yourself okay? I'm sure Cadence is looking forward to your return too. We can't forget about her or the others back home."
Looking up, she seemed thoughtful. "Plus, after today... Now we know who we can ask about some advanced magic. It may take some practice, but I'm sure we'll get it!"

"Right. I still remember the book I was reading; there were a bunch of support spells I hadn't learned yet... but I will." He nuzzled her back. "There's too much at stake here for us to just sit back." He seemed to have calmed as well, though his eyes were still red and bleary.
Alice, meanwhile, thought for a minute. "Hmmm... for one as young as you, that isn't surprising; you did unleash quite a bit of power... well, I'm sure your Spellcard is around here somewhere. Anyway... I will be helping you improve your ability."

Spike grinned at the thought. After seeing what kind of things Rainbow and Fluttershy were capable of after their training, learning a bit of that kind of magic himself sounded pretty cool. "Really? That would be sweet!" he cried gleefully.

Twilight nodded to Shining's statement, seeing the sense he made. "Yeah, the Library's a good a place as any for reference and all of that." She nods. "But... I wonder... Do you think it would be possible to find that wizard again? He must know a lot if he had that book with him... Maybe we could learn a few things from him."
------------------------------------------
Meanwhile outside the house, a familiar dark colored dragon landed on the front lawn, and walked up to the door. Cynder had tracked those two Danmaku users to this location, so she hoped they were here anyway...
Taking a breath, she raised one of her forelegs up to the door and attempted to knock on the door with her claws. "Hello? Anyone there?"
